Later on a cold day, Cortney was outside studying with the Golden Trio. Viktor Krum passed them with his fan-girls including Daphne and Tracey. He glanced over at Hermione, her cheeks grew a rosy pink. She became more interested in the book.

Cortney was sitting a table away from the Gryffindor's table in the  Great Hall. She was sitting next to Pansy.

" This is mad. At this rate we'll be the only ones without dates,' Ron whispered to Harry. Snape shoved his head back to his work. " Well us and Neville".

" Yeah, he might as well take himself," Harry laughed.

" It might interest you to know that Neville's got someone," Hermione whispered. Cortney and Pansy looked at each other surprised. 

 " Go Neville," Cortney whispered to Pansy.

" Now I'm really depressed," groaned Ron. Fred passed a note to Ron.

" Go get a move or all the good ones are gone," Ron read in a whisper. " Who are you going with then? " He passed the note back to Fred. He crumpled up the paper and threw it at Angelina Johnson. She turned to him clearly annoyed. 

" What? " She demanded.

" Oi Angelina! " Fred whispered. " Will you go to the ball with me? " He mouthed and act it out.

" The ball? " Angelina asked smiling. Fred nodded. " Yeah," she answered. Fred made a face at Ron before going back to work.

" Well Hermione you're a girl," Ron began. She slowly looked at him as Harry hit him on the shoulder. Cortney and Pansy gave each other WTF looks. Snape whacked both Harry and Ron in the head. " Well, it's one thing for a boy to go alone, for a girl it's just sad".

" I won't be going alone because believe it or not someone asked me! " Hermione snapped. She stood up with her notebook and handed it to Snape. " And I said yes! " She picked up her bag and walked out of the Great Hall. Cortney and Pansy looked at each other and rolled their eyes.

" Listen, we've got to grit our teeth and do it. Tomorrow when we get back to the common room we'll both have partners. Agreed ? " said Ron.

" Agreed," Harry confirmed. Snape came over with his sleeves rolled up and forced heir head down to work.

" Ow! " They hissed.

 Cortney was now in her dorm with her girls. She sat on her bed in her pj's. Earlier Teddy seemed quite fidgety and she did not know why.

" Hey girls," Cortney began.

" Yes, Cort," Kierra said.

" Have Teddy seemed to be actin strange to you? " Cortney asked.

" He's always acting strange," Millicent pointed out.

" Probably because you have done it in a while," Tracey said wriggling her eyebrows.

" Shut up! " Cortney laughed as she threw a pillow at her. " No, like it's as if he's trying to hide from someone".

" Ask him tomorrow before the Yule Ball, or during," Pansy suggested.

" Thanks, Pans," Cortney said smiling

" Everything is going to be fine," Daphne assured her. "Probably nervous about he'll look for you".

Tonight was the Yule Ball night, fourth years Slytherin girls were gathered in s a room all getting ready together. Well mainly doing last-minute touches like make-up. Cortney wore her mother's dress, she straightened it before putting it up in a braided bun. She wore the necklace her mother gave her, a pair of earrings from home, and the ring Seamus gave her. She wore black heels with the dress. She stepped out of the dressing room to find all her friends looking super pretty and dressed up.

" Cortney! " Daphne gushed. 

" Your dress is gorgeous," Tracey commented.

" All you look so pretty, your dresses are beautiful," Cortney gushed. They told each other where they got the dress.

" So Cortney, where did you get your dress? " Millicent asked.

" It was my mothers. She wore it on her last date with my dad before he proposed," Cortney said

" Aweee," the girls cooed. Pansy walked over to her and grabbed her hands.

" Your mother, would melt at the sight of you and be so proud of you for rocking that dress," Pansy said.

" Thanks, Pans," Cortney laughed. They all went down and met their dates. Teddy looked at her in complete awe. He came over and took her hand. Teddy was dressed so nicely, he almost didn't look like himself. 

" You look like amazing darling," Teddy cooed as he kissed her hand.

" You look like a really good dream," Cortney said smiling.

" Well wake up homey, because this is no dream," Teddy said as he pretend to flip his hair. Cortney laughed at his goofiness. The two leaned in for a slow kiss before pulling back. It went quiet and they saw Hermione coming down the steps.

" Gorgeous," Cortney commented as if she was a proud parent. McGonagall had the champions escort their dates in for the first dance. Hermione was Viktor Krum's date and Pavarti was Harry's date.  When Cortney entered the Great Hall, she was amazed at its transformation. The walls were a sparkling white, fake snow falling, basically a winter wonderland.  Everyone clapped as the champions and their dates came out onto the dance floor. Professor Flitwick started at the music and everyone began to waltz. Everyone was doing good except Harry. He was an absolute mess at dancing. Soon everyone joined them on the floor. Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall joined in, followed by Neville and Ginny. 

" Do you want to dance my lady? " Teddy asked holding out his hand.

" Of course sir, Cortney said placing her hand in his palm. He led her to the dance floor and they began to slow dance. Cortney switched with Pansy a few times so she can dance with her cousin. She trusted nothing will happen between her best and boyfriend.

" You look great cousin," Draco complimented.

" You too, cousin," Cortney complimented back.

" Where did you get the dress? " Draco asked.

" It was mums," Cortney said smiling.

" Aunt Bellatrix would have loved to see you in her dress," Draco said as he twirled her. All of sudden, non-classical music played. Draco and Cortney looked at each other excitingly.

" The Weird Sisters! " They said in sync. Cortney and Draco found their dates and began to part hard. She was able to say hello to a few of her friends. Ron and Harry sat at a table doing nothing with their dates. It was not long till Pavarti had another date and Padma left them. Cortney was currently searching the room for her boyfriend, Teddy. Someone bumped into her almost making her fall. She turned to see who it was, instead, she got a worse sight. Her boyfriend was snogging Elena, the girl from Beaxbaton. Her heart sank to the bottom of her stomach, she could feel the tears building up.

" Teddy," Cortney said softly.

" She caught us," Elena said with a smirk.

" How could you Teddy? " Cortney said with a trembling voice.

" Cortney, I can explain," Teddy said calmly.

" Don't we are over! " Cortney cried before leaving the room in tears. On her way out she bumped into Seamus.

" Cortney! " Seamus gasped. " Are you alright? " She just pushed him away and went to the Slytherin common room and up into her dorm. She took off her dress and climbed into bed and cried.
