Chapter 19
I was correct on my inference about the house being a mess, but wrong in guessing it was the blond boy's house; it actually belonged to the boy with the curly hair and dimples.
Zayn was already inside by the time I got up the courage to go in. The inside of the house was huge, with expensive looking art pieces plastering the walls, and fancy furniture placed here and there. I heard laughing coming from a near-by room and walked towards it.
"There she is." Zayn smiled, waving me in. All traces of his former anger had vanished, so I figured mine should too.
"Hey guys." I said, walking over to Zayn.
I looked around the room as each guy introduced themselves, and my eyes landed on Liam who was staring at his feet. I didn't see Danielle anywhere, but I noticed a purse and the faint scent of perfume. I figured she was in the bathroom, so I sat down next to Zayn on the couch.
"So, who's winning?" Zayn asked, leaning forward and resting his elbows on his knees.
I tuned out mentally, and tried to focus on the way I wanted to dye my hair. I had been thinking about it recently, and if I ever wanted to find a stable job that wasn't bar-tending or being a tattoo artist, I was going to have to dye my hair a normal color.
Just as I was deciding between brown and black, Danielle appeared in the doorway and stopped when she saw me. I opened my mouth to say something very hateful to her, but stopped myself, figuring it would only result in people yelling at me.
I stole glances at Danielle, trying to catch her eye and glare. She's such a stupid, lying, bitch and I'm so done with it.
"Diana?" Zayn asked, staring at me.
"Um, yeah? Sorry I was just thinking." I apologized, my cheeks no doubt turning red.
"I was just asking how you liked your college." Harry said, smiling.
"Oh. It's good. I mean, there are some bad memories there, but that's why I'm transferring next year." I replied. That was the first time I had spilled the news about my transfer and it felt amazing.
"Transferring?" Liam blurted.
"Yeah, to a small college in Europe." I smirked, watching Liam's face change into a look of sadness.
I didn't feel bad about hurting Liam. Not at all actually, because I knew that this was the smartest possible decision for me to get away from everybody and everything that has made my life a living hell in the last couple of months. It will be a fresh start for me, and I'm proud of myself for doing it.
"Where in Europe?" Danielle asked, her eyes gleaming with a happiness.
"That's really not any of your business, now is it?" I replied, sipping some water.
"I was just trying to be friendly." She told me.
"Is that something you can even do? Because if I remember correctly you're just some stupid, gold digging bitch who can't worry about her own life and stop wrecking other people's!" I exclaimed.
"You should probably stop being so pissed off that Liam picked me over you. All you're doing is embarrassing yourself and making it awkward for others." She said, crossing her legs.
"Okay, look here you fuc-"
"Diana!" Liam shouted, standing up and grabbing my arm.
"Get off me." I answered, shaking his hand from my arm.
I looked around at the other guys and their faces were shocked. None of them, not even Zayn, had even tried to say a word when we were yelling at each other. I'm sure it was weird for them to be trapped, not knowing what to say, but this freaking girl got on my last nerve. Out of my better judgment, I followed Liam.
"What the hell was that?" He demanded, once we were outside.
"That was your bitchy girlfriend getting what she wants again." I shot back, crossing my arms.
"Oh, come on Diana." Liam scoffed.
"What?" I asked defensively.
"You started that one all on your own."
"That is absolute shit and you know it." I answered, storming past him.
"Where are you going?" Liam called.
"Anywhere but here." I replied, walking back the way Zayn and I came.
"You're going to get lost." He told me.
"Shut the hell up, I could seriously care less." I said, flipping him my middle finger.

I didn't know where I was going right away, but I got there eventually. It was probably about an hour later by the time I arrived at the small salon I pass everyday. I had never paid much attention to it before, but when I was walking down the empty, winding road, I made up my mind on the hair color I wanted.
I stepped inside the door and the small man standing at the counter smiled, closing his magazine.
"Welcome, darling." He said, still beaming.
"Hey, um, I was wondering if you could help me out a little bit." I mumbled, looking at my boots.
"Well of course. What can I help you with." He asked.
"I want to dye my hair, and maybe get it trimmed." I told him, following him to an empty chair and sitting down.
"What color would you like, my sweetie?"
I pulled up a photo of a girl on my phone and pointed to the picture. He practically squealed with delight and immediately got started on my hair. I learned a few minutes later, that his name was Jackson, and he was engaged to a man named Carson. I liked something about the way that Jackson didn't seem to care about how rude I was or my horrible past. I was starting over already and I wasn't even in Europe yet.
"Okay, done!" He squealed, turning the chair around and letting me see myself in the mirror.
"Wow, it's even better than I thought it would be." I marveled.
"Now there's going to be one more person to make a blonde joke about." Jackson laughed.
In that moment, I realized that the chapter of my life that involved Liam, Caroline, Sam, Danielle and everybody else, was coming to an end, and a new chapter was beginning. The only thing I was worrying about, was that in stories, characters from the previous chapter often appear in the best or worst ways. I was hoping for neither.

Good chapter in my opinion.
