Devotion #39 - A Committed Relationship with God
6/4/2021
'Commit to the Lord with all your heart and believe in Him'. That is the basic lesson I got from the Lord through tonight's Bible chapter. Commit. That word sounds like a relationship. Truth is, when you get saved by God, you are in a committed relationship with Him that will never go away. How can we commit to the Lord with all our hearts? I guess the answer is easy, we get more involved with the Lord. Spend more time with Him, in both prayer and meditation, and help out at the church more. More importantly, we need to put God first in our life. We can't meet God halfway and expect Him to do the rest. That shows not committing to the Lord and it will distant your relationship with God. You may never be able to learn what it is that God has planned for you. The Scripture in Psalms 37:5 says, "Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act." Think about it like this, in John 2, I read that Mary, the Mother of Jesus, had told her Son that there was no wine left at the wedding and do you know what He said? He said, "Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come." He didn't say 'Mother' or 'Ma'am' but 'Woman', that right there establishes Him separating Himself from His mother, and earthly family, to commit Himself to His Father. In order to commit ourselves to God, we must put God first in every aspect of our life, including the love we have for our family on Earth. We all know that when children grow up, they want to leave home and go explore the world without ever coming back to their home for a while. One thing we can do is love the children, parents, siblings, spouse, and relatives second and put the love of God first in our life. "Commit your work to the Lord and your plans will be established", - Proverbs 16:3.
Amen
