Chapter 6

--------------------------------------------

The door unlocked onto a dimly lit corridor leading two opposite ways. The need to run and escape overpowering her senses. The gush of blood drumming in her ears making it impossible to detect any oncoming footsteps. She has trained her whole life to be ruthless to be a fighter. To be able and willing to take the worst and survive to tell the tales of their enemies to the father.

Testing was not the same as living it.

She needed to focus. To escape. But she couldn't escape. Not yet. "Father will contact you again." Her job here wasn't done. She knew what waited for her if she left now without completing the mission. Even if it killed her it would be a merciful ending compared to the betrayal of the father. Knowing there's no escape she ran to the right towards the office.

Facing the very man she knew had murdered her entire family and not to kill him on the spot was a miracle on her part. But she needed proof. Not only proof for her own conscious but proof of his wrong doings towards fathers group before he can answer for his crimes. Coming closer to the only door that was ajar with a slightly deep croak of a man in what seemed a lonely conversation.  That is until she crept forwards and peeked through the opening ever so delicately hoping to no the noticed just yet. To perhaps get a snippet of his true self.

As her eyes adjusted to the light she listened ever so intently. "... an heir." He snapped his fingers twice facing back to the door. "Are you even listening son?"

A low Mhmm bounced off the walls.

"If the heir is a girl. It is useless. Get rid of it at once and try again." The old man began to paste the room again. "No time wasting. You need an heir if you are to be taken seriously by the family." He stopped in his tracks the clacking of the expensive dress shoes with him. "I already had you, at your age I had it all!" If she could see the mans facial expression she believed it would be of a man on fire. Red face with steam coming out of his ears just like in the Cartoon Network shows. "No need to wait for the wedding either. Get to work as soon as the doctor finished her tests."

"Hmmm." The so far invisible man hummed again.

"You don't seem at all interested in the choosing of your first bride."

"As you said father. It is my first bride." The smirk tone of voice sent shivers down the girls spine. "Onto the actual business of the day." A rustle of papers and a couple of clicks of a mouse both men had disappeared from the limited line of sight. "This is the amount the Angel Diaz is taking right now." A pause of silence eating up her nerves. Did they figure out she is here, eavesdropping on insider business? She hasn't made a sound but that is not to say they don't have cameras monitoring every corner of this building, and the access to view them all from that same computer that just condemned Angel Diaz of stealing from one of the most powerful Mafia families in the continent.

"What do you suggest son?" The older man began his pacing once again.

"I see it going either of two ways." Taking a deep breath he continued in a matter of fact tone of voice. "One, we kill him and anyone who benefited from this side gamble of his. Showing no mercy." This is exactly what is to be expected of her fiancé. Violence first. "Or second, we rush him up threaten something he loves and make him work for scraps for the rest of his existence. Profiting greatly as he is a main man when it comes to successful captures."

"That is true. You're soon to be wife being his best and brightest legacies." With a sigh he continued, "and to think she was in my grasp before she was in his!" He almost spat out the last word, venom spewing out with it. "The potential. Lost but now found and belonging to us. I would have trained her better than that bastard who sold her out." At hearing the truth rolling out of the filthy mouth of his she sucked in a breath.

Her memories went back to the night of the kiddnapping and the picture of the two young men hugging at the docks. The room she was never allowed in perhaps for this very reason. There's more hiding in there than just the picture. Her mind comes back to the present as she hears footsteps getting closer to the door. Looking around she steps into what seems like a storage room situated next to the office. cleaning supplies lining the wooden shelves. Bleach, mop heads, heavy duty bin bags, tarps, buckets neatly stacked in a corner, duck tape rolls placed in a triangular tower. She knew what this was for. An emergency stash of 'how to get away with murder in your own kingdom'. As the footsteps left the hallway she peeked through the door and without hesitation entered the office.

The surprised expression of her fiancé's face was enough to grace him with a side smile. Her head held high she walked in and flopped onto the grand chair behind the desk where the laptop lay closed. She relaxed back into the chair swinging her feet onto the edge of the dark oak wood table.

"So you got your orders, boy." She smirked as the man placed the book he was holding carefully into the empty slot on the book case. "Want to tie me up or will you order Dr.Francestine to knock me out first?" She studied his expressions but apart from the initial surprise he gave away nothing. "Some sick fantasies you got there 'honey'."
