Silent Readers, I am waiting✨✨✨

Vedika's POV

Sitting at the dinning table, I could hardly bring myself to put anything in my mouth as someone's continuos stare made me uncomfortable.

I lifted my gaze from my hardly touched pasta, only to meet his green eyes.

Sitting accross me, he took a sip of red wine from his glass, still maintaining that intense gaze along with his impassive face.

I could not pinpoint the purpose of his gaze on me. The intensity in his eyes wanted to wrap myself in a thick blanket, away from his probing eyes.

But I could not.

Clearing my throat, I posed a question towards him.

"Is their any issue, Mr. De... Mr. Parker" I almost called him Devil.

Not that i mind but he would have minded a lot.

"Nothing" He immediately denied, still fixated at me.

"Then why... Why are you... " I couldn't bring myself to finish my question as I felt embrassed.

"What? " He asked raising his eyebrows.

"Nothing" I said.

He is staring at me but why do I feel like I am doing some crime.

"Then, why are you not eating? " He questioned.

How would I in your uncomfortable gaze.

I wanted to say but stopped myself as I don't see any good in argument with him.

"I am not hungry." I said dropping my fork on the plate.

Actually, I am famished but the Western food didn't appeal me to eat today. I missed my simple Indian cuisine.

"Fine, rest early as we have to leave by 8'o clock tomorrow morning." He stated as he stood up from his seat.

I followed his steps as he stopped stepping beside me.

I frowned at him.

He leaned towards me lowly, making me brows furrowed in confusion.

As his hand reached towards my face, I tensed, unsure of his intentions.

I froze when his sleek fingertip touched the corner of my lower lip.

My heart raced as his touch lingered on my lip, leaving me momentarily speechless.

I swallowed hard, trying to regain my composure.

"Mr. Parker, what are you..." I began, my voice trailing off as I searched his eyes for an explanation.

He withdrew his hand, the intensity in his gaze softening slightly. "Here, it was stuck on your lip," he said, his tone surprisingly gentle.

"I didn't mean to intrude." He continued.

My gaze travelled from his eyes to his fingers where there was some chocolate left.

Ohh, I gently rubbed my lips to wipe out any remaining chocholate from the cake I had earlier in dinner.

I stopped my actions when I felt his eyes on me again.

I studied him for a moment, unsure of how to respond. "It's... it's alright," I finally managed, feeling a strange mix of relief and confusion.

He nodded, his expression unreadable. "I'll leave you to your evening," he said, stepping away from me.

"Rest well."

As he walked away, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to his actions than met the eye.

But for now, I pushed aside my questions, focusing instead on the quiet of the evening and the weight of his touch still lingering on my lips.

As I settled on the bed, I keep glancing at the door. Although, I have locked the door I could not help but feel alerted.

What if he comes here, want to sleep here or rather do something with me as today is our wedding night.

Not that I am looking forward to it but what if he wants it. Although this may be a contract marriage or marriage of convinience, I cannot deny the fact that our wedding vows are real.

As we had not discussed this aspect before marriage. I couldn't help but kept worried about it.

I should have stated it earlier that we will not conssumate our marriage. I feel like an idiot at this moment as I forget to discuss most important thing.

With the lingering thoughts, I don't know when sleep consumed me.

***********

I woke up with the continuous knock on my door.

As the incessant knocking roused me from my sleep, I groggily rubbed my eyes and glanced at the clock. It was still early, the sun barely peeking through the curtains.

"Who could it be at this hour?" I muttered to myself as I stumbled out of bed and made my way to the door, my mind still foggy with sleep.

Opening the door, I was surprised to see Mr. Parker standing there, a serious expression on his face.

Dressed in dark blue three-piece, he was not looking less than a model.

"Mr. Parker, what's wrong?" I asked, my sleep-addled brain trying to process the situation.

"We have to leave earlier than planned. There's been a change in the schedule," he said briskly, already turning away before I could fully comprehend his words.

I nodded, still feeling disoriented from being woken up so suddenly. "Okay, I'll get ready right away," I replied, closing the door behind me.

As I hurriedly got dressed and packed my belongings, my mind raced with questions about the sudden change in plans and what it could mean for our arrangement.

But for now, I pushed aside my concerns and focused on the task at hand, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

**************************
Sitting in the luxurious jet, I couldn't help but marvel at my surroundings, from the cushioned seats to the mini bar inside the plane, everything intrigued me.

This was my first time of such opulence.
Meanwhile, across sitting me, Mr. Devil continuously tapping fingers on his laptop.

Since the time, we have boarded plane, he is silently engaged in his work along with his signature aloof face.

Earlier in the morning, after having a quick shower dressed in a comfortable pink top paired with a black jeans, I collected my belongings before stepping out of the room.

As it was early morning, I didn't had anything for breakfast.

I was assuming that we would be travelling via road considering the short distance. But i was surprised when we headed towards the airport where we boarded his private plane.

I knew that he was wealthy, but owning his personal plane was beyond my imagination.

I searched for something for eating as I started feeling hungry but found none. I mumbled to myself as I felt frustrated at him.

First he made me getup earlier than planned, then he didn't even think of ordering me anything for breakfast.

I am a human, forgod's sake. I grumbled as I started feeling annoyed.

I looked at him with accusation in my eyes but as usual, he was busy in his work. Then, I remember that i have few chocholates in my handbag.

I rummaged through my bag, I noticed him pressing the bell for flight attendant.

When the air hostess came, she bowed towards him.

"I am not giving you salary for freeloading yourself" He snapped at her.

I frowned witnessing the whole scenario while savoring the sweet melting taste of chocolate in my mouth.

"D...Did I do any mistake, Boss?" She stuttered posing the same question as in my mind.

"Do i need to give training to you, how to serve?" He asked in a rude manner.

"B... But i have already served your usual black coffee." She said with confusion.

"Am I the only one here?" He said in anger.

Now I got it that he was hinting towards me.

"I... I will bring breakfast for Miss" She stuttered while trembling as devil was glaring her with his eagle eyes.

I felt sympathise with her as I can understand that look very well.

"No need. You're fired" He announced shocking both of us.

"B... Boss please, I am sorry..." She apoligized.

But her pleas goes to deaf ears.

"Get out before I announce for you not having any job in this country" He said.

What a heartless person? I scoffed in my mind.

She left after bowing to him.

I wanted to ask him to not fire her but hestitated to interfere in his matters.

Soon, another hostess came with the food.

After looking at the food, I started eating it immediately as I was already famished.

When I was enjoying my Sandwich alongwith iced tea, I felt a familiar gaze on me.

I rolled my eyes internally as I know the culprit behind this.

"Do you want some?" I asked in full confidence while raising my food towards him.

I got a hint from last conversation that he only drinks his bitter coffee in the morning. So, I intentionally offered my half bitten food.

But to my horror, he bend forward. Holding my wrist in his hand, he forwarded my hand towards him.

I tried to pull my hand but his hand didn't budge. He took a bit from my sandwich making my eyes widened with horror.

"Wh... What are you doing?" I asked while trembling.

He released my hand while savoring the taste of my sandwich with a smirk.

I humped in annoyance.

"Eating, as you had offered. " He answered my previous question.

I didn't answer anything. I looked at the left sandwich in my hand.

I didn't wish to have his ort meal.

I kept down the sandwich and picked a croissant.

When I took a bite of it, I again left his gaze on me.

"What?" I snapped at him this time.

What is his problem?

"Am I that detestable to you?" He asked with a glare.

"Hu... Huh?" I frowned at his words.

"Am I that detestable to you that you won't even eat that sandwich again?" he clarified, his voice tinged with a hint of accussation.

"I don't like to have meal which is already eaten by someone, unlike you" I said rolling my eyes.

"It was not like I asked you to give me your sandwich, it was you... "He scoffed as if I have done a big unjustice to him.

"See Mr. Parker" I started...

"Alvaro" He said.

"What?" I frowned.

"Don't call me Mr. Parker or some formal title. I am your husband" He clarified.

"Alvaro," he repeated, his tone firm. "Call me Alvaro. We're married, after all."

I sighed, feeling a mixture of frustration and confusion. "Alright. But can you please stop hovering over my food? It's making me uncomfortable."

He leaned back in his seat, his expression unreadable. "Fine, I was just trying to make sure you're eating properly," he said, his voice softer than before.

"Well, I am," I replied, trying to keep my tone steady. "So you can stop now."

He nodded, but his gaze lingered on me for a moment longer before he returned to his laptop, seemingly engrossed in his work once again.

When I was using washroom after sometime, I heard hushed voices.

"Where will I go now?" Someone said this.

"You shouldn't have ignored that lady. I told you earlier to serve them once we boarded the plane" Someone else commented.

"But Sir never comment in past when we did our duties and served to his employees earlier" she said.

I rolled my eyes at her. So, it was not something new for her to ignore her guests.

"Have you ever seen any lady sitting in the same cabin as Boss" She commented.

This line picked up my ears.

"Hmm... No!!!" She said.

What is this with Mr. Devil? I have heard this before as well that he stays away from females.

But what I have seen and experienced is that he doesn't have any issues with the female clan rather he is very clingy. You can take my example.

He always found excuses to get close to me before our marriage.

"She is someone special, to be seated with him" She said.

No, I am not special. It's just we are following our contract. That's why we are stuck to each other.

I left the washroom away from their conversation. I may have asked him earlier on her behalf however after listening their conversation I have decided not to.

Those who don't take their jobs seriously have no right to work.

As the flight continued, I couldn't help and drowned in sleepiness. Though it was not comfortable to sleep in a chair, but nothing comes in my way of sleep today.

At one point of time, I felt myself in air but I was too tired to open my eyes. It must be a dream, as I always intrigued with the mystery of flying in dreams.

But then reality hit me as I felt a warmth enveloping me, and I slowly opened my eyes to find myself tucked under a blanket on the bed with him standing beside in a leaning posture towards my face.

I immediately maintained a distance from him.

"Umm, did I wake you up?" he asked awkardly, his hand which was earlier in air, now lying down.

I wonder what he was upto.

I blinked, still trying to process the situation.

"No!!!" I mumbled, feeling a strange mix of confusion.

He gave me a deep gaze before turning around and leaving the cabin.

I now realised that we were still in plane. It was a very cosy room with a bed. If I have even aware of such a room earlier, wouldn't had to sleep on the chair.

I settled back on the bed with blanket warming me. I closed my eyes but sleep didn't came in.

When I was dreaming myself floating in the air, I was actually in his arms. I flushed at the thought and covered my head in the blanket in embrassment. I really hope I was not drolling in my sleep.

I immediately touched my lips and relaxed when I didn't found any.

Soon, we landed in the capital and Mr. Ben was already waiting for us beside the car. I wonder when did he started his journey.

I couldn't help but ask him the same when we comfortably seated in the back.

"Hi Mr. Ben, when did you reached here?"

Mr. Ben chuckled softly, adjusting his sunglasses. "Oh, I've been here yesterday night as I wanted to make sure everything is in order for your arrival."

I nodded, feeling a bit relieved. "Thank you for your dedication."

He smiled warmly. "It's my pleasure, Mrs. Parker."

I glanced at Alvaro, who was busy checking his phone. "So, where are we headed?" I asked, trying to make conversation.

"We are going to the company first," Mr. Ben replied.

"Boss has some meeting scheduled for later in the day."

I nodded, taking in the information.

As we drove through the city, I couldn't help but marvel at the sights and sounds around me. It was all so different from what I was used to back home.

As we reached his office, I glanced at the impressive building before us. It was the largest office building I had ever seen, a testament to his success and influence.

Mr. Ben led the way, and we followed him into the silent lobby, where not a single soul can be spotted.

Thankfully, it is a weekend, otherwise, I would be center of attraction like a fish out of water in this world of corporate power and wealth.

Riding up to Mr. Parker's floor which was on 48th floor, a sense of nervous excitement filled me. The sleek and modern design of the office space contrasted sharply with the simplicity of my own home, leaving me feeling out of place.

Stepping out of the elevator, I marveled at the sleek and modern design of the office space. It was a far cry from the quaint simplicity of our office in the city, and I felt a pang of envy at the thought of working in such a prestigious environment.

Following Mr. Parker into his office, I couldn't shake the feeling of being out of place. Despite my best efforts to blend in, I felt like an outsider intruding on his territory.

As Mr. Parker busied himself with his work, a sense of loneliness washed over me.

Here I was, thousands of miles away from home, surrounded by strangers in a world that felt alien and unfamiliar.

Soon, Mr. Parker left me in his huge office, all to myself, for his meetings.

This man is totally workholic. Even attending meetings on weekend. I mean its not bad to be career minded but we should balance our both personal and professional life.

Well, I shrugged off with a no nonsense mood.

Mr. Ben entered the room with a food cart.

"Madam, please have your lunch. Boss may get late in his meeting" He sat while stopping beside the sofa.

I sat down and started filling the plate.

"I appreciate your thoughtfulness, Mr. Ben" I thanked him for the lunch. Otherwise I would be famished by the time Mr. Parker finishes his meeting.

"I am just fulfilling my duty, Madam. Actually it was Mr. Parker's order." He told me.

I couldn't help but feel warm by this gesture of his.

"Why don't you join me, Mr. Ben" I invited him.

"No... No" He denied.

"I insist, otherwise it will be too boring to eat alone" I said with a smile.

"Please, don't put me in a difficult situation" He said.

"Fine, but atleast you can sit down" I offered as it is awkward to see him standing like an attendant.

He gave me a helpless look but sat down on a single seater on the opposite site.

"So, How can years have you been with Mr. Parker?" I asked initiating a conversation.

"I don't remember. I guess more than 20 years" He said making me raise my brows.

"That's a very long period" I commented.

"Yeah, my father used to be chauffer in the old mansion. I used to come there often with him. I remember seeing Boss always being aloof but with madam, he was like any other six year old boy." He walked down a memory lane.

His words made me imagining younger devil sitting alone with his signature aloof expression, and I couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for him. He must be referring to his mother. I wonder if I will get a chance to meet her.

"That must have been difficult for him," I muttered softly, my heart going out to the younger version of Alvaro.

"Lateron, I always roamed around him trying to make conversation and to be his friend. But you know how toughnut he is" He said making me imagine Ben and Alvaro in that scenario.

I nodded at him.

"How did he agree to you, then?" I asked him curiously.

Alvaro is not someone to be soft hearted.

"He didn't give in for 4 years. But, when my...my father lost his life in some accident happened back then, my family was devasted." He was a bit emotional at this moment.

I can feel him as no one can understand this better than me.

"I am sorry for your loss." I said with regret as it was my fault to make him remember his past.

"No, please don't apoligize. It was that time when Boss came forward. Can you imagine a ten year boy offered me to be his people. He was more devasted than me as he lost everything at that moment. And he become more aloof and lonely after that." He said this making me frown.

What was that incident he is talking about?

"What happened to h...?" I couldn't complete as door suddenly opened and Alvaro walked in.

He sensed the tensed atmosphere I guess as he asked about it.

"Is anything the matter" He asked.

I wanted to ask more but Ben was a step ahead.

He eruptly stood up from the sofa.

"No... Nothing boss. Madam was just asking about the office" He lied while I gazed at him questioningly.

As the tension diffused, I decided to drop the subject for the time being, not wanting to push further into Alvaro's personal life without his consent.

Mr. Ben quickly excused himself, leaving Alvaro and me alone in the office once again.

I could feel his gaze on me, his green eyes assessing, as if trying to decipher my thoughts.

"Shall be head back to home, if you're done eating?" he asked me.

I nodded and stood up to walk out of the office.

Soon, we reached to his house. I cannot say that this is a house. Rather it was a castle. If I said his mansion back in the city was extravagent, I don't know how to define this one.

As I crossed the threshold into yet another new residence, the opulence of my surroundings momentarily distracted me from the nagging sense of transience that had become an unwelcome companion in my life.

The gleaming marble floors, adorned with intricate patterns, and the lavish furnishings spoke of a life of luxury and privilege.

Yet, despite the grandeur that surrounded me, I couldn't shake the feeling of impermanence that seemed to follow me wherever I went.

Each move to a new house felt like just another temporary stop on an endless journey, with no clear destination in sight.

I couldn't help but wonder when would I finally find a place to call home. Each new residence brought with it a fleeting sense of hope, only to be dashed by the inevitable realization that it was just another temporary abode.

But amidst the uncertainty of my nomadic existence, I clung to the hope that one day I would find the stability and permanence I am so desperately longed for.

Until then, I would continue to navigate the ever-changing landscape of my life, one move at a time.
