Chapter 2
Entering back into their underground hideout Alisa nodded to Fireborn who knocked on one of the doors and said "knock, knock anyone home?" she asked as the door opened.
"Well, shit someone knows how to knock around here," said a voice as a girl turned the corner.
She wore a mixture of casual teenage clothes such as a sweater and some special forces gear giving her a more unique appearance in terms of clothing but not as unique as her red-eye that glinted with some metal in her right eye socket.
"Oh ha-ha Interface, honestly I'm surprised you weren't sent with us for this-this was exactly your style of mission" replied Alisa.
Interface was a human from this universe, her real name is Hannah but she never wants people to call her that due to her past, which in a nutshell-she was raised on a farm and taught to defend herself and to hunt in the woods around her property, until an unknown group of humans raided her farm and it was burnt to the ground-she survived, but a year later contracted a mysterious disease that nearly killed her-as it was located in her right eye, so she was sent to Japan and had it replaced with a metallic eye that allowed her to interact with virtually any form of technology with just a look-hence the name "Interface", she was almost always seen with her purple-ish hood up, but instead, this time she had it down-probably because they were in their base a safe location, after all, she could lower her guard down here, so her lighter brown hair now stretched to her mid-back as her dark green and red eyes narrowed in amusement as she shrugged.
"Beats me, but the mission was still successful so it's no big deal really" she commented as she stepped aside to allow the group to pass.
Alisa nodded as the group separated into their own little corners as she walked to Jackal's room and knocked on the door and Alisa was greeted with the sight of Jackal's bright red helmet "eyes" as he tilted his head in question.
"Welcome back Alisa-those the documents?" asked Jackal
"Indeed they are, what are they for exactly?" she asked.
Jackal nodded "you're about to find out," he said as he reached over to a small panel and pressed a dull red button.
Immediately a siren rang through the facility and various figures began to emerge from their rooms, that short siren sound was a call for a meeting of high importance. Shortly afterwards all the current members had gathered around a large central table, and some members who never took part in the attack such as Desert-the fourth member of Fox, Sandmans ,and Thunder's four man special forces team and used an RPK LMG as his primary weapon and was known for his often blunt approach to thing's.
Interface from earlier, Transviper-a massive snake-like creature covered in bullet-proof blue scales, and armed with massive fang's that could melt through solid titanium, and his signature feature which was his tail which forked out into two halves and armed with pincers that could generate enough electricity that a fraction of what he could generate could kill a man instantly, no-one knew fully what universe he came from-but it was clear that he was old and has experienced many things.
Scorn, a Cre'donian who was a pupil of spec before finishing his training, clad in sloped yellow armor with some purple spikes on his helmet and shoulder pads, he was excellent in hit and run tactics and attacking while on the move, he was also loyal to a fault-but was known for his barbed tongue, he was valued for his skills however.
As the few remaining members gathered around Jackal nodded and glanced around the room.
"Thank you for joining everyone, as you may have already figured out-the mission was a success and we have successfully retrieved the set of documents needed to complete project Outlast" stated Jackal.
A few members nodded in appreciation and relief as Scorn shrugged.
"That's all nice and dandy-but do we know it will work? with no traveling to the other side of the world shit right?" he asked, crossing his arms.
"No, we won't need to travel far, these documents hold the directions to the location of several power cells that will be needed to break the reality barrier here-and call in some reinforcements from other dimensions that some of us may have connections too-or at least get word home in case we need to call for backup," said Jackal.
They were powerful-but currently most of their members were out to other parts of the city and even outside the city limits, scouting, hunting-various different reasons, most were due back soon however, they were still few in numbers and most of their truly powerful members were currently away-which left them forced to remain hidden and escape detection as they couldn't last in a drawn-out open battle.
"We should be able to take on RAT-they always scatter when they see us," said Scorn."We shouldn't let our guard down around them, they may be individually weak-but there's currently a ten-to a hundred ratio, were outnumbered even with everyone here." said a new voice-Arrow, an ice Elf, known for her excellent expertise with her magical bow, and had strong psionic based powers, oddly enough considering her main element was ice.
Scorn huffed as Jackal spoke up again.
"Well with this we got good news and bad news, the good news is that we know where the power-cells are," said Jackal. Before all of this occurred the government officials had been messing around with anti-matter and particle-based technology within some secret facilities below the ground, their goal was as you'd expect- breaking through the walls of this reality to discover evidence and thus proof of other dimensions- some of the resistance members believe that this is what caused RAT to appear out of the blue and take what few defenses had been installed around the city by complete surprise.
"And the bad news?" asked Sandman.
"They're being held in small RAT outposts-they don't seem to understand what exactly they are just yet-or don't have a use for them just yet either and are planning to move them soon," said Jackal.
"How soon?" asked Interface.
"Unknown, but-I got a plan for this now" replied Jackal as the table suddenly lit up in blue light and a face appeared.
This figure was female and had a teenage face with pretty light blue eye's. Most of her hair couldn't be seen due to her grey hood that covered most of her head, but you could see some strands of long light blue hair.
"Artemis, how's your scouting mission been so far?" asked Jackal.
"It's gone well so far, RAT presence has been lower than expected-but steady overall, their power cell is moderately guarded, but far from impossible to breach, there should be three cells in total right?" replied Artemis.
Jackal nodded. "Alright, we got the documents, when your ready move in and get the cells out of there-somehow, we can't really hold out an extraction by vehicle, so you may have to commander one of their own to get it back here, the demon Shadow and the assassin Specter will extract the other two cells since their at other outposts nearby, get those cells and get them back here-as quiet as possible please," said Jackal.
"Right-o," said Artemis as the light dimmed and the table went silent.
"So-think they'll make it out in one piece?" asked Cyclops.
"All three are skilled in long range missions, Shadow is well-a shadow demon for Pete's, sake, Spectre is a special forces member with some of the most advanced sensors from this universe and has the gift of foresight, and Artemis has her ability to turn invisible, her mobility and her senses are far above anything most humans have ,they'll be fine" assured Jackal.
"We didn't just jinx them did we?" asked Desert.
"We can only hope," replied Fox.
