Fear
Lindsey went home and had put up a facade of a happy husband.
Kristen didn't suspect a thing; she was very pleased that Lindsey was paying so much attention to her.
It wasn't until bedtime that Kristen started to have a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach.
Kristen had wanted intimacy but Lindsey said he was going to have a late night in his studio.
She went to bed feeling uneasy.
Lindsey gave a great performance of being a good husband to Kristen but when she wanted intimacy, that's where he drew the line and told Kristen he would spend sometime on his studio and for her not to wait up.
He wasn't really working on anything but didn't want to go to bed just yet.
He sat there strumming and thought about what was to come.
He was nervous to say the least but he knew that this was the right decision.
He had seen Kristen's true colors twice, once when she cheated on him then when she made him choose between his children.
Before he knew it, it was morning; Kristen had the kids up and made them breakfast. They were ready to go to school.
They were eating as Lindsey entered the kitchen.
He kissed his children on their heads and told them good morning.
He quickly gave Kristen a peck on her cheek and grabbed a cup of coffee.
Kristen could feel something was wrong but didn't bring it up.
After the kids finished their breakfast, Lindsey drove them to school then came back home to wait for his lawyer and Kristen's lawyer to arrive.
Kristen had just fed Stella when the doorbell rang. She placed Stella in her swing and walked to the front door to answer it.
But Lindsey had beat her to it; Kristen noticed Lindsey's lawyer followed by her lawyer walk through the door.
"Lindsey? What's going on?" Kristen asked her heart began to pound.
"Why don't we go sit in the living room." Lindsey said as he led the way.
They sat down; Lindsey's lawyer sat by Lindsey and Kristen's lawyer sat by Kristen.
"Kristen, I didn't want to do this. I wanted to work things out with you. I know I messed up, I had an affair with another woman and had a child with her. I wasn't thinking of leaving you or the kids but when you gave me an ultimatum which wasn't really one. You gave me no choice." Lindsey said as Kristen knew what was coming. She was becoming angry by the second. Lindsey continued. So, I filed for divorce. Our lawyers are here to go over everything with us and get this process started."
"Lindsey, you can't serious!" Kristen said with her voice raised. "If you do this, I will take you to court and I know I will custody of the kids."
Lindsey was calm and said. "I don't think you will. You see, you say you want to tell the judge I am an unfit father because I had an affair, well, I can tell the judge the same thing about you."
"I have never cheated on you!" Kristen said very confidently.
Lindsey gave her a smirk. "Are you sure about that?"
"Yes." Kristen said.
Lindsey nodded to his lawyer; his lawyer reached into his brief case and pulled out a folder.
The lawyer opened the folder and pulled out several photos of Kristen with the man she had the affair with.
Kristen stared wide eyed and grew pale as she knew she had been caught.
"I was always faithful to you until this tour of course. Even after finding out about you and Mr. O'Riely, I decided not to bring it up to you because believe it or not, I did love you and I didn't want the kids to be put through a divorce. But now that went out the window when you made me choose between our children and my child with the other woman."
Kristen had tears rolling down her cheeks. She was angry; she was angry at Lindsey, she was angry at Stevie but most of all, she was angry with herself.
The two lawyers began to exchange files as Kristen's lawyer read what Lindsey had wanted.
He then advised Kristen to sign the papers as the demands were fair. He told her if she fought this and took it to court, she would lose because she cheated first and would be seen as a hypocrite.
By the end of their meeting, Kristen reluctantly signed the divorce papers and the custody agreement.
When the lawyers left, Lindsey turned to Kristen and said. "I'll be moving my things out starting today. Mick is coming over to help. Like the papers said you can stay in this house, it's yours now. I'll be moving into a condo for now until I find a house for myself and the kids when I have them during my time with them. Once the judge signs off on the custody agreement, I should have everything settled."
Kristen didn't say anything; she stared daggers at Lindsey.
"You're going to be sorry Lindsey Buckingham!" She said calmly. "Stay here with Stella. I need some air."
"Where are you going?" Lindsey asked.
"That's not your business anymore." Kristen said as she grabbed her car keys and ran out the door.
Kristen got into her car and pulled out of the driveway. She sped away and headed to her destination. All she saw was red, she wanted to hurt Lindsey the way he had hurt her; the only thing she could think of hurting Lindsey was through Stevie.
Stevie was in her kitchen making a cup of tea; she knew Emmaline would wake up soon for her afternoon feeding so she wanted to make it quickly before Emmaline woke up.
She poured herself a cup and took a sip. Just then, the doorbell rang followed by pounding on the door.
Stevie jumped not expecting the banging.
She rushed to the door and opened it.
She saw Kristen standing there, her face wore an angry expression.
Stevie didn't have time to react; Kristen slapped Stevie across the face.
Stevie gasped, tears filled her eyes as she held her cheek.
"It's all your fault! Yours and your bastard daughter! Lindsey is divorcing me!" Kristen said, she was livid.
"Kristen, that is not my fault! And nor is it my daughter's! She is innocent in all this! She's just a baby!" Stevie said.
"No! It is! Because of her Lindsey filed for divorce and now...I lost him!" Kristen yelled as she wasn't really listening to what Stevie had to say.
Suddenly, Kristen pushed Stevie; Stevie fell backwards.
Before Stevie could stand back up, Kristen ran upstairs.
At that moment, Karen had been pulling into the driveway and saw Kristen push Stevie.
"Stevie! Are you okay?" Karen asked as she rushed inside.
"Call Lindsey! Tell him to hurry!" Stevie said as she ran to the stairs.
Just then, Stevie heard Emmaline's loud cry.
Panic set in and she ran in to the nursery.
"Kristen! What are you doing!?" Stevie said as her knees almost buckled.
Kristen had Emmaline in one arm while her other hand was around her tiny neck, her little arms and legs flaying around.
"I want you and Lindsey to hurt...to suffer the same way I am suffering!" Kristen said above Emmaline's crying.
"Please! No! Don't do this Kristen, please!" Stevie sobbed, tears streaming down her cheeks. "Don't hurt my baby! If you want to hurt someone, hurt me! Not her!"
Kristen looked at Stevie then down at Emmaline.
Kristen stared into her little distressed face. It felt like hours but it was only seconds when suddenly, realization came over Kristen.
She looked at Emmaline and saw her own children in her, it was settle but the similarities were there. After all, this was their half sister.
Her anger faded; she took her hand off from around her neck. Tears rolled down her cheeks; she fell to her knees and brought Emmaline close to her and gently rocked back and forth.
"I'm sorry." She whispered. "I'm so sorry little one."
Emmaline quieted down a bit but continued to cry.
Stevie rushed to Kristen's side; Kristen looked up at Stevie and placed Emmaline into her arms.
Stevie took Emmaline and held her close to her chest. Relief washed over her, she continued to sob.
Emmaline whimpered as she now knew her mother was holding her.
Stevie rocked Emmaline and spoke softly to her. Emmaline slowly calmed; her eyes wide open, she placed her tiny fist into her mouth and started to suck on it.
Stevie looked down and she knew the baby was hungry; she could also feel her breast feeling uncomfortable and were now leaking.
"I'm so sorry Stevie." Kirsten said quietly. "I...I don't know what came over me. I'm ashamed of myself."
Stevie looked into Kristen's eyes and saw that she was sincere but was still hesitant to believe her.
"I just...I just blamed you and Lindsey for my crumbling marriage. It was doomed way before you came back into the picture." Kristen said as she wiped her tears. She then looked down at Emmaline and said. "The second I looked into her little face I saw my own children. That's what made me stop and realize the horrible mistake I was about to commit. I have no one else to blame but myself. I'm a mother too and I couldn't imagine someone doing what I almost did to my children. Stevie, please forgive me."
Stevie looked down at Emmaline, she starting to get fussy, wanting something to eat.
Stevie reached for a blanket that was close by then covered herself and Emmaline and pulled down her blouse then placed Emmaline close to her breast. Emmaline immediately began to suckle.
Stevie looked up again at Kristen who was watching intently.
So many emotions were going through Stevie; Kristen almost hurt her baby girl, that was the worst moment she had gone through in her life. The fear was beyond anything she had ever felt before.
Tears continued to roll down her cheeks.
At the same time she understood Kristen was hurt by what she and Lindsey had done.
Stevie took a breath; she lifted the blanket and peaked to check on Emmaline. She was still suckling, her eyes open.
Her baby girl was okay, she was here in her arms safe and sound.
Stevie looked back at Kristen and said in a whisper. "I forgive you. Do you forgive me?"
Kristen smiled through her tears and said. "Yes. We were friends before all of this...I hope we can get that back."
Stevie smiled a little then nodded her head.
Both women reached for each other and embraced in hug.
Lindsey had grabbed Stella and buckled her in her car seat and sped towards Stevie's home after Karen called him.
When he got there he unbuckled Stella and ran into Stevie's home.
Karen led him inside; Lindsey gave Karen Stella to hold while he ran upstairs to Emmaline's nursery.
As he approached the door he heard. "I just...I just blamed you and Lindsey for my crumbling marriage. It was doomed way before you came back into the picture."
He stood there listening to their interaction. He peaked inside and saw them sitting on the floor, Stevie was nursing Emmaline while they spoke.
He saw them hug each other; he breathed a sigh of relief.
They pulled away; Stevie felt Emmaline stop sucking, so she fixed her blouse then uncovered Emmaline.
Emmaline's eyes adjusted from being covered then found Stevie. She smiled at her mother and Stevie smiled back; her tears now drying on her face.
Kristen stood up and held her hand to Stevie.
Stevie grabbed it and was helped up.
"Again, I'm so sorry Stevie." Kristen said. She looked down at Emmaline and continued. "She really is precious. I'm sorry I called her...well, you know."
"It's okay. It's behind us and...I hope we can move forward." Stevie replied.
"Of course." Kristen said. "Well, I better get going. I'm going to home and hug my baby girl Stella and wait for Will and Leelee to get home so I can hug them too."
Kristen and Stevie moved towards the door but stopped when they saw Lindsey.
"Is everything okay in here?" He asked.
Stevie smiled and both women nodded.
"Where's Stella?" Kristen asked.
"She's downstairs with Karen. I rushed right over when Karen called me." Lindsey said still feeling worried.
Kristen nodded. "I'll take her home. You can stay here if you like."
Lindsey nodded in agreement.
They all walked downstairs; Kristen took Stella from Karen and said goodbye to Stevie and Lindsey.
Stevie and Lindsey watched her drive off then Lindsey turned his attention to Emmaline.
He and Stevie then looked into each other's eye as they both felt a huge weight being lifted off of their shoulders.
Stevie placed Emmaline into Lindsey's arms and stepped back to watch him bond with their daughter.
Stevie excused herself to change her blouse as she was still covered in breast milk from when she was leaking.
She walked upstairs to her bedroom and shut the door. Even though everything turned out fine, it finally hit Stevie like a ton of bricks that she could have easily lost her baby girl today.
She slumped to the floor and sobbed until she was to the point of hyperventilating.
Stevie knew nothing else as she now saw darkness surround her.
