➸ Chapter 6.2
They say not to disclose your secrets to those who have not earned your faith and whose silence have not been tested with fire.
The Dark Queen Draceina Dengell probably thought the same, for she was very selective about whom she shared her secrets with. Madame Marciella Harding was one of the very few who was entitled with such infamously secret honor.
Apart from being a highly classified councillor to the the Dark Queen Dengell's Battalion, Madame Marciella Harding used to spend a lot of time in the Room of Spheres where people seldom ventured.
Oh, yes, the room was special. So special that there were only two keys that could open the room; one was under the care of the King of the Sovereign himself. The second one was to be kept with the Administrative Officer of Magical Assets. In short, the key was with Marciella Harding.
Why was this room very important? Feeling puzzled? Well, Harding was equally puzzled at first; she always had this nagging question in her mind: what could probably be locked in a room of spheres other than some harmless spheres?
Moreover, why would anyone lock up a bunch of harmless spheres?
The curiosity killed one of her cats. Literally.
That was an incident Madame Harding would think twice before sharing with anyone else. It was during the days when she was the Secretary to the Administrative Officer of Magical Assets. She was caught spying around the corridor to the Room of Spheres by the former Administrative Officer, Karvin Seneghal, a nosy half-elf (according to Harding herself) and she lied to him that she was running away from Junely, her pinky cat which seemed to have caught the were-cat disease. Karvin offered to help protect her from the rabid cat and as hell would please it, Junely appeared from nowhere, right in front of the two of them.
With the expert precision and lethal speed of a half-elf, you could've guessed what happened to Junely. Poor cat.
Karvin thought himself as a hero who protected a damsel in distress; but for Harding, he ended up as just another person on her already long to-kill list.
As soon as she was entitled as the Administrative Officer, she flung open the door with much curiosity and later found out that the room had a rather very important asset. In the dusty corner of the room, there was an end table. Decorated with cobwebs and painted with dust, the Sphere of El'Goog lay in deep slumber. The sphere had some amount of artificial wisdom; the sphere could speak; the sphere could show you live pictures and stream real-time videos; and last but not the least, compounding to the disaster it already was- it never lied.
You heard that right.
Never. Ever. Lied.
What would possibly go wrong if you have a tonne of wisdom and a tongue that never lied? Well, for the right person, the sphere would be a great asset. But in the wrong hands, this brought about wars, strife and hatred. The same reason why it was locked up in the first place.
But as far as this story goes, the sphere is just concerned about two things; one, the prophecy of Shelly Sangsteiner was made by the mirror. Two, the war of Dengell was fought by the information triggered by the mirror, the very information that would later lead to Shelly's dangerous fate.
