Chapter 1
...A year later...
Sands shifted as a bright light shined in the sky. It was as almost as big as one of the three moons if they were full-which two of them were full-as it zoomed through the sky. It was so close it was starting earthquakes. Three small orb shapes shook with the ground as a jolt went through Pyrrhia. Small claws scratched one of egg from inside. She had to get to her mother. Her mother was in trouble and she knew it. The dragonet poked her prison walls with her snout. She bite at the walls and hissed until she got out, until she was free. Desert heat hit her scales as she climbed out of her prison. The sand was so warm under her talons. The dragonet sunk into the ground and curled up in a ball.
Don't get distracted! Mother needs your help! She jumped up and ran to a sandstone building that loomed in the distance.
"Wow," She said as an eerie feeling ran up her spine. The dragonet ran into a large courtyard. Five dragonets stood in the center by a statue digging, as about two-hundred dragons huddled the walls. Two SandWings hovered in the air watching. One was covered in scratches and bites and the other had blood on her talons. Were one of those dragons her mother? Three other SandWings- two males and one female-dug with the dragonets.
Am I going to die? I am too young and too pretty! Why couldn't Queen Glacier fight for me? Of course the dragonets won't pick any one prettier then them! I am going to be so mad if these scar! One of them thought as she was attacked. Why could she her them when they weren't talking? What was wrong with her?
Other dragons heads we filled with meaningless thoughts such as, Why aren't the dragonets helping Blaze; I thought they wanted peace; When can this be over it is too hot out here; What happened to the adorable little NightWing, why does he have a leaf over his eyes; Where did the snake go; It would have been tonight, uh why won't she die (That one was from the fighting dragon)?
The dragonets stopped digging for a second and a small creature on two legs jumped in the hole and pulled out a burlap sack. A necklace with two wings and an eye-like gem was glinted in the light of the comet and the moons. They chatted something she didn't understand and gave the necklace to the big female SandWing and nodded. A golden dragonet beamed at the bigger dragon.
The fighting dragon's gaze turned to the dragonets and the three dragons and her voice screamed, That is mine! She flapped her wings and dived toward them. Flexing her claws she pounced on the ground. She grabbed at the necklace that was now around the bigger SandWing's neck.
I don't have time for this! If only he was more loyal to me instead of that tribe of his! It is happening right now! My eggs, they are hatching, I can feel it! The dragon thoughts did not appear on her face.
What was happening? Who was he? Her eggs? Was she one of her eggs? The dragonet looked away and when she looked back the dragon was gone and the other dragons were staring at a pile of ashes. Everyone was chattering, inside and outside her mind. The eye let out an eerie purple light as it rested against the SandWing's shoulders once again. There was a very long pause. The SandWing walked over to the dragonet. She looked even bigger now and more regal.
"Who are you?" She asked the dragonet. Her tail coiled around her talons.
"M-mm," she mumbled and then tried again, "Mother?" It was more of a "what did you do to my poor mother" question than an "are you my mother" but the SandWing only nodded and smiled at her.
What did they do to her? What did they do to mother? Her head asked.
