Chapter 8

Evie rushed down hallways of Auradon Prep to the courtyard where Ben, Carlos and Lumiere were standing.

"Evie!" Carlos said, holding her hand, steadying her, "You're not supposed to be running."

"I know but I'm so excited! A break from school!" Evie said dramatically.

Ben looked at the two curiously. Why was Carlos so concerned about Evie running? Was he concerned because she was running in six inches heels across the marble floors? But it wasn't like she was running like that for the first time. What did he mean by 'you're not supposed to'? However Ben decided not to ask anything now. He probably won't get answers.

"Are you done packing, Evie?" Ben asked surprised. None of the girl's had completed packing. God knows what they were packing!

"Yeah. I finished last night. Just a few necessary stuff you know." Evie replied giving him her charming smile.

"A few necessary stuff you say?" Doug asked as he struggled to walk behind her. He was holding four suitcases and a bagpack. Or atleast trying to.

Evie rolled her eyes as she took out a mirror from her handbag and checked her makeup. She was wearing a simple blue sundress with golden accessories.

"She doesn't travel light bro. You should know that by now." Jay said, slapping Doug's shoulder, as he and Lonnie emerged from the hallway. Jay was carrying two bags, one Lonnie's, other his own.

"I managed to pack everything in my bagpack. Then why do you need four suitcases?" Doug complained.

"Because first I'm a girl and to justify, one suitcase has my makeup. Other holds my dresses. Third one has my shoes and accessories. And the forth one has my fashion books and materials for stitching." Evie justified. She had already asked Ben if she could get a sewing machine wherever they were going. If they were gonna have some free time, she might as well use it for making dresses. Ben's birthday was coming up in a month, and that meant a grand ball, where royals from all states and all students of Auradon Prep would go. She had a big list of customers now. Ben had assured her he would have someone to make those arrangements.

Doug just sighed as he put her bags and his in the back of the limo they were taking. Belle had insisted them to take the limo.

Mal was the last one to come. Evie had put her in a simple purple dress that reached her knees. Although Mal was learning and accepting the Auradon society, dresses were something she hated with passion. They gave no freedom to do anything. Not that she had to fight here in Auradon, but it still felt uncomfortable.

Ben looked at her lovingly. He was well aware that Mal would prefer to be in jeans or pants, but for him, she made an effort to wear a dress and that impressed him.

"Alright everyone in the limo." Evie squealed as dude rushed inside.

"Let's get this party started." Jay said as he went in.

These two days were going to be the best two days of their life!
**

The place for their vacation was a secret for all of them. Only Ben knew where they were going. So when they stopped in front of a beautiful sprawling castle in deep woods standing high on the hilltop, Evie thought she might faint. It was a dream come true. She had always wondered what it was like to live in a castle so big and so beautiful. She was now going to get her answer.

"Is this place haunted?" Carlos asked almost immediately.

"No Carlos. This isn't haunted. This is kind of retreat place for our family. Mom and dad used to bring me here a lot. It's quite close to Auroria." Ben explained.

"I'm living a dream!" Evie sang as she tried to run upstairs to see the rooms. However she was caught by Doug who sighed.

"You're not supposed to run Evie. The doctor said-" However he was cut short by Evie who was glaring at him. Oh right, others didn't know yet.

"Doctor? Evie are you okay?" Lonnie asked, concerned.

"Uh.. yeah! I mean I just-he was going-" Evie stammered. This had caught her off guard.

"What's the matter Evie? You know you can share with us. We won't judge." Ben said gently.

"I think you should tell them now E." Mal said.

Evie sighed as she turned towards Doug, who had an encouraging smile on his face.

"Alright." Evie said as Doug squeezed her hand gently reassuring her.

"There's no simple way of saying this, and there's no meaning in beating around the bush. But just so you all know, it wasn't planned, but I'm kinda happy-" Evie babbled, trying to stall.

"Evie!" Mal shouted.

"Okay! I'm pregnant!" Evie blurt out. She quickly slapped her hand over her mouth and shut her eyes expecting everyone to yell at her.

However no one did. Ben was shocked while Lonnie just smiled.

"I guessed that." Lonnie said, smiling.

"How?" Carlos asked.

"Just how she had been behaving." She looked up at Jay, who nodded.

"We have our own news to give." Lonnie said looking down blushing furiously.

"Don't tell me you're pregnant too." Ben asked still clearly shocked. He suspected something was up, but he didn't think Evie and Doug would move so fast.

"As a matter of fact, yes I am." Lonnie said as Jay wrapped his arms around her belly, where their child is supposed to be.

"Oh my!" Ben looked at both the couples in amazement,"Congratulations guys. I suppose you're keeping the child. How many weeks along are you both?"

"Seven weeks. Nearly eight now."

"Three weeks."

"I'm happy for you guys. Now it makes sense why Carlos didn't want you running around." Ben said.

"Yeah, doctor told me to not do run or lift heavy stuff till the kids are born." Evie said.

"Okay.. wait kids?" Lonnie asked, surprised.

"Yeah we're having twins!" Doug said, happily.

"Wow. I'm so happy for all of you." Ben said. He had recovered from his shock.

"Thanks Ben." Evie said,"And fyi I call dibs on the room with the best view!"

"I'm living in the room she's living." Dude piped in,"What, she gives the best treats. And she's getting the best room too."
(A/N Mal's spell hasn't washed away yet.

"So much for being a loyal pet." Carlos said, causing everyone to burst out laughing.

Mal leaned against the pillar and smiled.

Peace finally.
