"Wait a second, you're telling me that was your first party ever?" Galinda asked as she helped Y/n into her robe.

"Do funerals count?" Elphabud asked with a straight face.

Y/n's mouth flapped in surprise. "You're funny," she said finally.

"Thank you."

"Ah, I couldn't remotely sleep," Galinda sighed.

"Me neither," Elphabud agreed.

"Then let's tell secrets," Y/n suggested.

"Great idea, N/n, I'll go first!" Galinda pulled Elphabud to his bed and pat the free space for Y/n to sit. Once they were there, she said, "I'm going to be the maid of honor at Y/n and Fiyero's wedding."

The girls squealed and fell onto the bed in hysterical excitement, all while Elphabud felt his heart drop. "He asked you already?" he asked Y/n.

She looked up from her lying position straight-faced. "Oh, he doesn't know it yet."

Relief washed over him. "Oh, okay."

"My turn, my turn!" She flung herself back up and took Elphabud's hands. "You ready? It's a big one...I never really loathed you."

He smirked, squeezing her hands in return. "I kinda figured. Me neither."

"Okay, now you tell us a secret," Galinda prodded.

"Like what?"

"Like..." She looked at Y/n for an idea.

"Like..." Mischievously, she reached under his pillow and pulled out a tiny green bottle. "Like why this is under your pillow!"

Elphabud reached for it, but Y/n pulled it out of his grasp. "No, please, give it back!"

"C'mon, what is it? I wanna know!"

"No, give it back, please! I'm serious!"

Galinda laughed, rolling in her back before popping back up. "We wanna know ~!" she sang out.

"Give it back!" Y/n stopped and Elphabud took it, holding it tight in his grasp. "It was my mother's. That's all." He put it back under the pillow, Y/n watching.

"Well that's not fair," she said. "I told you a really good one." She sulked over to her bed and face-planted. Galinda got up and sat by her side, playing with her hair. Elphabud got up and began walking over, stopping when Y/n looked back at him. Seeing the was still looking, she turned back to her bed. He laughed a little, finding her adorable.

"My father hates me."

The girls gasped and Y/n jumped up. "What?!"

"That's not the secret."

Y/n pulled Galinda up and they sat in front of him once again.

"The secret is that, um...he has a good reason." He sighed, bit his lip, and continued. "It's my fault."

"What is?" Y/n asked, reaching for his hand. He felt her soft skin against his and felt his heartbeat pick up.

"That my sister is the way she is...when my mother was carrying Nessa, my father began to worry that she might come out..."

"Green," Galinda said.

"Green," he agreed, but Y/n did not say it, only wanting him to tell her without feeling judged. "He was so worried that he made my mother chew milkflowers day and night. Only...the milkflowers made Nessa come too soon and..." His voice broke off, beginning to choke up. "And her little legs, they..."

Galinda gasped. Y/n began to stroke his hand with her thumb, letting him take his time.

"And my mother...well, she never woke up. None of which would've ever happened if it wasn't for...for me. So...it's my fault."

"No, Elphabud, it wasn't," Y/n insisted. "It was your father's fault."

He looked at her with watery eyes. Nobody had ever blamed his father before.

Galinda agreed with, "That may be your secret, Elphabud, but that doesn't make it true."

The sun began to rise and the small group looked towards the window, the light refracting off their faces. "Look. It's tomorrow," Galinda giggled. "And Elphie..." She gasped and whirled around excitedly. "Can I call you Elphie?"

"Well, it's a little perky..."

"I know, I know ~" She took his hand and ran over to her own bed with Y/n trailing behind them.

"We're gonna call you that!" Y/n jumped at him on the bed, nearly jumping on top of him. "And you can call us...N/n and Lindy."

"Those are your nicknames," he smirked.

"Let's not quarrel." She pulled him down onto the bed, Galinda lying on his other side.

"

Elphie. Now that we're friends, I've decided to make you our new project."

"Perfect idea!" Y/n agreed. "He'll be our best work yet!"

He shook his head, hands out. "Oh, you really don't have to do that."

"I know," Galinda said with an oblivious smile. "That's what makes us so nice."

Hers and Y/n's legs kicked up on synch.

Galinda:
Whenever we see someone less fortunate than we

"And let's face it, right? Who isn't?"

Y/n tilted her head onto Elphabud's shoulder and Galinda moved in so that they were surrounding him.

Galinda, Y/n:
Less fortunate than we

Y/n:
Our tender hearts tend to start to bleed

Galinda stood up next to her and both looked when at Elphabud, who backed away slowly. Girls were crazy.

Galinda:
And when someone needs a makeover,
We simply have to take over
We know
We know

Y/n:
Exactly...

Galinda, Y/n:
What they need...

Galinda:
And even in your case...

Y/n got on top of him and reached over and took off his glasses to see what they were working with. She pursed her lips and nodded, quite liking it, and returned his glasses.

Galinda:
Though it's the toughest case we've yet to face

"He's cute, he's just green."

"Sure, hon."

Galinda:
Don't worry
We're determined
To succeed

She pushed on his head to swing on her chandelier, Y/n grabbing onto the other side and kicking off.

Y/n:
Follow our lead!
And yes, indeed

They got off, on each of his sides again, leaning in with each word.

Galinda:
You

Y/n:
Will

Galinda:
Be...

Elphabud looked ahead, worried about what they were going to do. Galinda got up and skipped over to her shoe case, opening it, while Y/n shook her new best friend. "We're holding space for this!" she whispered to him.

Galinda:
Popular

She took out a pair of red shoes, tapping them together, and turned back excitedly.

Galinda:
You're gonna be pop-uhu-ler

Y/n pulled him up and forced him to spin her around, Elphabud doing so clumsily.

Y/n:
We'll teach you the proper whirl
When you dance with girls
Little ways to flirt and flounce

Galinda pointed at his shoes bluntly. "Ew," matching in a different pitch to Y/n's "Ooh!" She took the shoes from her and smacked them together three times.

Galinda:
We'll show you what shoes to wear
How to fix your hair
Everything that really counts to be

Y/n:
Popular
We know about

Galinda, Y/n:
Pop-uhu-lar

Y/n took out his braid, letting his hair fall down his back.

Y/n:
You'll hang with the right cohorts
You'll be good at sports
Know the slang you've got to know

Galinda:
So let's start
'Cause you've got an awfully long way to go...

"Not that long," Y/n disagreed. They began to try different accessories and hairstyles, even one with a bow.

Galinda:
Don't be offended by our frank analysis
Think of it as personality dialysis

She shook her head. Y/n popped up from behind Elphabud and put her arms around his neck, swaying with him in a hug/chokehold.

Y/n:
Now that we've chosen to become a pal-a-sis -
- ter, and advisors
There's nobody wiser
Not when it comes to

Galinda:
Popular
We know about

Galinda, Y/n:
Pop-uhu-ler

Galinda:
And with an assist from we,
You'll be who-you'll-be
Instead of dreary who-you-were

"Well, are." Y/n smacked her arm.

Y/n:
There's nothing that can stop ya
From becoming popu-ler

She shoved Elphabud back on the bed and he fell, Y/n turning with a gasp.

Y/n:
Lar!

The girls proceeded to get on the floor by the bed, practically swimming around him oppositely while they harmonized.

Galimda, Y/n:
La la! La la!

Galinda:
We're gonna make you

Galinda, Y/n:
Pop
U
Lar

They used their robes to smack him in the face, then fall into dramatic poses. Elphabud got up with a frustrated groan, not wanting to be their guinea pig. "This is never going to work."

They gasped, scrambling to their feet. "What?!"

"Elphie! You mustn't think that was!" Galinda chided.

"Your whole life is going to change. And it's all because of us."

-

They forced him onto the balcony and got onto the rail, dancing on it. Elphabud put his hands out near Y/n, who was going too fast for him to keep up with and switching places with Galinda, making him more panicked.

Y/n:
When we see depressing creatures
With unprepossessing features
We remind them on their own behalf

"Get down."

Y/n:
To think of

-

Galinda had stolen Y/n's history textbook, opening up to a bunch of pages.

Galinda:
Celebrated heads of state or 'specially great communicators
Did they have brains out knowledge?

"Well actually -" Y/n tried, but Galinda smacked her hand over her mouth, giving her a look.

"Don't make me laugh. They were...?"

"Popular," Elphabud answered, getting them to look at him in excitement, Galinda's hand lowering.

Y/n pumped out her arm and then in, her leg kicking up. "YES!"

Y/n:
It's all about

Galinda, Y/n:
Pop - uhu -lar
It's not about aptitude,
It's the way you're viewed

Galinda:
So it's very shrewd to be

Galinda, Y/n:
Very very popular like we

Y/n took out a notebook and began flipping through it. "Now. I've been literally waiting for this day, Elphie, so I wrote down a few different ideas to help you become popular. I've put together a top-ten list. First! Elphie. Every day. Shower."

He raised a brow.

"Deodorant too. That's not optional."

Now he knew she was joking with him again.

"Hair, we'll get to that later. Your colors should always be blended." She took a look at him and looked back at her book, clearing her throat, swiftly moving along. "But seriously, keep a good posture! You'll never be popular slouched over like that."

He got up, rolling his shoulders back.

"But the best way to make yourself popular is to always show your beautiful smile."

That genuinely did make him smile.

"Come here." Galinda brought him out where there was more room. "She mentioned hair. We toss our hair. Ready?" She held her head back, them tossed her hair over her shoulder. "Toss-toss."

Elphabud tried to do the same. "Toss-toss." His braids smacked him in the face, sounding painful.

Y/n blinked a few times before saying, "That's a choice. Oh! Here, try this. Toss-toss, leg!" She tossed her hair, then put out her leg.

"Toss-toss leg." His foot clomped out, making a loud sound against the floor.

Y/n turned and put her head on the bed, disappointed.

-

"Next," Galinda began with her training wand. "I'm going to turn this simple frock slash coat - this simple froat - boop!" She poked him in the stomach with the wand. "Into a goth-chic suit." She waved it around, then pointed it at him. "Goth-chic."

Nope. Still a froat.

-

"Goth-chic," she tried again. "GOTH-CHIC! Come on, I'm counting on you!"

-

Galinda harmonized as she lowered with the wand, her voice becoming gravely as it descended. Upright again, she tried, "Goth-chic." Nope. "Seriously?!"

"Do you want help?" Y/n asked, reaching for the wand.

"No!" She tossed it, then strained a smile at Elphabud. "Just wear the froat, it's pretty."

-

"I'm gonna teach you to talk with you eyebrows," Y/n said. "Y'know, for when you have something to say? But you can't really say it? And you want to get your way?"

He copied her raised brows and head-tilts, the girl nodding, satisfied. "That's good."

-

Galinda was bouncing on the bed. "Elphie, N/n, get up here." Y/n immediately joined her, making huge, grand jumps. "Get some pep in your step, get your blood moving, I need you to bounce for me, boy."

Elphabud reluctantly joined, careful not to get smacked by a Y/n arm. He made a few movements. "I'm not really the bouncy person," he admitted. "It's not a thing I do."

"Elphie, bounce!"

"Come on, you can do it! Go on. GIVE US A BOUNCE!" Y/n suddenly screeched and he did indeed bounce...bounce back and away from her.

"Feels...good," he said nervously, afraid she would bite his head off. "I like it."

"See? That's what we're talking about," Galinda said with a small smile and Elphabud laughed, Y/n grabbing his hands and having him bounce higher.

"BOUNCE, MAN, BOUNCE!"

"It's nice." He began to wobble, getting dizzy.

"Right it's so nice."

"Pretty nice," Galinda agreed. "Okay, take it easy. Those shoulders...a little nervous."

He had let go of Y/n's hands, arms flailing around.

"WHOO!" The girls screamed together, Y/n jumping into Galinda, them looking sternly at Elphabud. "That's enough, you look greener than usual."

-

"Follow me ~" Galinda pulled out her vanity chair. "After you, monsuier."

"Thank you."

"Let's see..." She let out a light gasp and took the flower from in her head and put it behind Elphabud's ear. "Maybe...just this." She stepped back to admire him. "Pink goes good with green."

"Goes well with green," Y/n corrected.

"It so does."

Y/n turned him to the mirror, her hands on his shoulders and head on top of his. "Oh, Elphie...look at you. You're so handsome."

It only took a few seconds for his eyes to become red as he stared at himself. "I have to go..." He got up and practically ran out, Y/n following him to the door, looking out until he was gone.

"You're welcome..."

Galinda joined her, glancing down the hall, then back at her best friend. She knew, even if Y/n did not. She was about to tell her until she caught sight of herself in the glass cabinet across from them. "Oh, hello, two gorgeous women ~"

Y/n:

Galinda, Y/n:

The sun continued to rise, lighting up the room around them. [Not pink, I'm sorry it was kinda tacky.]

Galinda put out her hand for Y/n to take.

Galinda:
You're gonna grin and bear it

Y/n's hand circled into hers.

Y/n:
Your newfound populari -

Galinda, Y/n:

Their hands wobbled in a shaking gesture. Then, they took the other and spun around back into the room, jumping on the bed.

Galinda:
La la! La la!

Y/n:
La la! La la!

Galinda, Y/n:
La la! Oh oh oh oh oh...

They stopped by the shoe stand.

Y/n:
You'll be popular...

Galinda:
Just not quite as popular as

They stood on it together, hands up in the air, a pair still holding onto each other.

Galinda, Y/n:
We!
