"The marriage counseling shit didn't go as planned, I ended up walking out like fifteen minutes in. It was like the longer I sat there and listened to her talk the more pissed off I got. Like okay first, the lady asked us why are we here and of course I let Cali have the floor since she is the main reason we're there anyways so Cali goes to explain how she cheated and shit and how her cheating caused like a huge mess in our relationship and the lady asked her what does she mean by mess and Cali says some shit like arguments then says some shit like other women and starts elaborating on what me and you did .. and that shit pissed me off cause its like you haven't played a part in the downfall of our marriage so I saw no point in us discussing it." Ahmad explained to Shanice giving her the run down of what happened last week.
"If hanging with me is gonna cause issues between you and your marriage then I'll fall back Ahmad. I don't want no issue with Cali or have her feeling as if I'm purposely disrespecting her marriage because that ain't me and never has been me." Shanice stated as both her and Ahmad sat in her office talking.
Shaking his head, Ahmad shut her down. "Nah, me and Cali issues go beyond you and I being friends. But for some reason she wants to just focus on us and not all the shit that really put a dent in our marriage." He scoffed.
"Well maybe she feels you will cheat on her to get back at her because of what she did. So us being friends just makes her paranoid." Shanice suggested as she came over and sat by him.
"I know exactly why she acting like this, but the shit isn't fair. Yes, I fucked up when I kissed you but the way Cali been acting its like she has no faith in me when on countless accounts I've shown my loyalty. I'm not no ugly nigga and females have tried to get at me and I always turned them down because my love for Cali was so deep that I couldn't do her like that, but now she treating me like I'm some fuck nigga." He expressed and Shanice nodded understanding what he meant.
Touching his thigh, Ahmad looked over at her. "She's just scared Ahmad, she knows you have every given right to pack up and leave her at any moment at this point, since she was the one who broke the vows you two committed to and she's afraid that you will actually will up and leave. I'm not saying her actions are right, but I get it. Maybe you guys just need some real time apart to see if this is really what you two want in the end."
After a few minutes of silence, Ahmad stood up and began walking around feeling himself get a little upset. "She told me she forgot, she said she forgot what she had at home and that shit keeps replaying in my head, like how do you forget? And if she can easily forget like that, then she can easily forget again and I don't think I can put myself out there again to get hurt, I might kill her the next time."
Watching as he walked around her office trying to calm down, Shanice just felt so bad for him because it was so obvious was head over hills for Cali and to see him hurt like this really made her heart go out towards him.
"I don't think she would cheat on you again Ahmad, she knows how much this has hurt you guys."
Shaking his head, Ahmad waved her off. "I'm not finna sit around and wait to see if she does again or not either. I'm sorry Shanice, but I think I'm done. I really don't want to break up my family for the sake of my kids, but my happiness matters too and I'm not happy, I don't trust her and I just wanna raise my kids at this point and they always say just because you love someone doesn't mean you have to be with them and that's how I'm feeling at this moment." He shrugged.
Standing up Shanice walked over to him and made him sit down. "Okay let's sit and really think about this Ahmad. Divorce is a really big step and are you really sure this is whatchu want?"
He nodded, "We couldn't even make it a year Shanice, not a whole year married! You expect me to believe we'll make it forever, I know people make mistakes and I've made plenty like falling in love with her and choosing her. I feel so stupid, the only blessing we got out of all of this is our kids and that's the only thing I don't regret because without her all four them wouldn't be in my life and I most certainly wouldn't be able to function without them."
Shanice felt and understood what he meant, but she felt Ahmad really needed to think on this before going through it. She was all for him becoming happy but she knew deep down Cali was the woman who brought him true happiness and she knew after a while he would become miserable without her.
"I support whatever decision you choose to make, but really think about this Ahmad. I want you happy, but come on could you really see and be able to deal with Cali being with someone else other than you?"
He shrugged, "Of course not, but I'd have to deal with it regardless. I would be hurt, but I'd eventually move on and wish her well and just pray she doesn't cause him the same pain she caused me."
Looking at him Shanice knew he didn't mean anything of that, but she wasn't going to try and stop him from something he felt was right for the sake of his happiness.
Later that evening Ahmad had made his way to the hospital to go and check on Mariah like he did everyday. Whenever he was stressed he would either go and get the kids from the house or go and see Mariah, they always put his mind at ease.
Entering the hospital he waved at the lady at the front desk before making his way to the room where his baby girl was at. Getting on the elevator and reaching the floor where she would be, he greeted the frequent nurses he saw everyday and a few moms he has been running into while there before approaching the room she was in.
Staring at her small body laying in the incubator he pulled a chair closer to her and took a seat. "Hey baby girl, its daddy again." He cooed watching as she peacefully slept.
Just watching her and thinking to himself, he put on a glove and grabbed her little hand holding it in his feeling his eyes swell up with tears.
He wanted to spend every moment he could with her since he wasn't sure if she was going to make it or not. His dream had him so fucked up and the fact the dream has yet to come true, it worried him. He hoped like hell it didn't, but he knew with his dreams they always did.
Looking up towards the door when he heard a slight knock at the door, he smiled when he saw it was his mama. Standing up he got up and gave her a big hug before letting her sit down. "Cali told me you might be here and I'm glad you are so we can talk."
"Talk about what mama?"
Giving him a knowing look, he sighed as he leaned up against the wall. "I just came down to see my daughter and spend time with her not talk about me and Cali's fucked up situation." He stated growing irritated already.
Looking at her son, she shook her head before laughing to herself. "Fine, I talk and you listen then and watch your mouth when speaking to me. I get it Ahmad you're hurt, but look at how you are letting this change you for the worst. You're so angry now, I understand what Cali did caused you so much pain but don't let Cali or anybody else take away the happiness you have found in life."
"How can I happy when the love of my life cheated? How can I be happy without her?" He choked.
"This is where you are messing up baby, you depend on Cali for happiness way too much. You have so many other things to be happy about in life like your beautiful children who love you more than anything and unconditionally, your family, your friends and your successful business. I know things are bad now and feels like the end of the world right now but I promise you its not." She stated in a soothing motherly comfort tone.
Looking up he tried not to blink so the tears that where threating to fall would come down, but he failed and soon started sobbing once again like he does almost everyday. "I've never been this emotional before in my life behind anything, and mama I hate feeling like this. I hate feeling so sick to my stomach to where I can't even eat or so depressed that all I want to do is curl up in a ball and cry. I try to be strong, I try to overlook what happened and move on but I can't."
"Ahmad there isn't anything wrong with the way you are feeling, its okay to cry and sulk but you can not let this take over your life and who you are as a person." Standing up, she walked over towards him and grabbed at his hands. "You are such an amazing man Ahmad, an amazing father, an amazing husband, friend and most importantly an amazing son. I know you have been through so many things in life that you wish you could forget, but baby despite how you may feel today you are so strong. I've never met someone with a bigger heart than you despite how much you may try to be this cold-hearted person, you never had it in you to be that."
Looking down at her, he continued to cry as she held onto his hands wanting him to finally release all those built up emotions for once. "Just let it all out and let it go baby."
As if that was all he needed to hear, his knees soon started to buck and he went down just as she did holding onto her as he cried into her shoulder.
Wrapping her arms around him, they both rocked in place as she listened to her big baby cry in her arms. Hearing and seeing him hurt did make her feel some type of way towards Cali, but she wasn't going to speak too much on that and keep her personal thoughts to herself.
Rubbing his back and whispering everything will be okay in his ear, she pulled back and smiled as she rose her hand and wiped away his falling tears. "I love you and no matter how much this hurts now please try and not let this steal away the happiness you have found. Cali told me the marriage counseling session didn't go so well and Ahmad all I want to know is what exactly is going on in that mind of yours? Are you wanting to work things out or what?"
Looking her dead in her eyes as they both sat on the floor, he sighed. "I'm thinking about filing for a divorce."
Looking at him crazily, she was beyond shocked. "Are you sure this is what you really want?"
"Things just never will be the same ma', I don't trust her enough to give her a secomd chance. Maybe on down the line we could work things out but as of now I'm done." He explained.
Standing up, she made him stand as well. "What about doing a legal separation first and seeing how that goes. A divorce can get real messy and dragging the kids into court for custody battles and all that horrible stuff can be draining and even more damaging to you guys relationship." She explained and he nodded seeing she had a point.
"I'll discuss that with Cali and set it up. I just need sometime away from her to be able to just focus on us, the health of our kids and making they are always in good hands." He expressed.
"And that's understandable, but remember if you ever need me I'm here for support, love and advice."
Giving her a hug, he kissed her on the forehead being beyond grateful to have a mother like her in his life. "I love you."
"I love you more, well I'm gonna head out and let you spend sometime with babygirl. I just wanted to check in on you mentally, call me when you make it home please." Giving him one last kiss on the cheek and a hug she left out leaving him alone.
Retaking his seat in front of her incubator, he just stared at her and smiled weakly to himself. "No matter what happens between me and ya mama, I'ma always be right here for you and your older siblings baby girl."
Locking up the shop since he was the last one to leave, Dave held his phone in the crook of his neck trying to listen to his daughter speak about her day while balancing his things and locking up the shop properly.
Making his way towards his car he nodded his head to whatever his daughter was rambling on about while getting in and starting his car.
Pulling out of the parking lot he sped home so he could get back to his baby girl and end the night watching movies with her.
"Daddy is on his way home and when I get there I want you to finish telling me all about your day okay?" He said into the phone once got on the freeway so he could focus.
After telling each other they loved each other and hanging up, he tossed his phone to his passenger seat and continued on with his journey home.
Arriving to his house and pulling into his driveway he frowned when he saw Courtney's car parked in front of the garage. Parking his car, he got out just as she did and walked up towards her needing answers as to why she was here. "Courtney what are you doing here?"
Running into his arms, she grabbed him by the face and kissed him roughly. "Baby, I miss you so much. I was such a fool for letting you go, I'm so sorry."
Pulling away from her, he held her wrists down by her side so she wouldn't try anything else. "Stop, you need to leave. I don't want Blessing knowing you're here, you will not do this to her Courtney."
It had been months since he last saw Courtney and she didn't look like the same person he fell in love with, she had lost a little weight and looked as if she hadn't took a proper bath in a good minute.
"Baby, please just give me another chance. I promise I won't hurt you or baby girl again." She pleaded as she dropped to her knees in front of him, begging for his forgiveness.
Looking down at her crazily, he sighed. "Courtney get up and go, you can be in Blessing's life but I don't want her to see you like this. Just leave please."
Raising her hands up to his waist band, she went to pull down his sweats. "You like when I'm on my knees though, right baby? Let me take care of you." She begged as she tried to untie his sweat pants.
Stepping back from her, Dave could tell she was on something since she never acted like this ever before and he was honestly embarrassed for her and felt sorry for her. She was far from the person he married back then and couldn't believe this was what she was becoming.
Reaching down he helped her stand and held onto her arms when she tried to wrap herself around him and kiss him again. "Courtney, I don't know what has gotten into you or what type of shit you're on but you need to leave."
"Can I please just see my baby? I just wanna see her Dave, just let me see my baby and I will go." She pleaded.
Shaking his head no, he powered walked over to his car and grabbed his things so he could head into the house. "You need to go before I call the cops Courtney, go back to that nigga house you left me for. Me and Blessing are good without you and we don't need you coming back around here and fucking up our lives again."
Breaking down into tears, she followed behind him as she pleaded for him to stop. "He beats me Dave." She shouted causing him to stop dead in his tracks.
Turning slightly around, he frowned. "He does what?"
"He beats me, I fucked up getting involved with him Dave and I'm so sorry for hurting you but I can't keep living like this. Please just help me." She begged as more tears fell from her eyes.
Despite how he felt towards Courtney cheating and leaving him and Blessing, he felt she didn't deserve to be getting beat on and it broke his heart to know that she was. It was clear this man was changing her into something she wasn't, and with her being the mother of his child he couldn't let or watch that happen.
Walking towards her, he grabbed her hand and walked her towards the backyard to lead her through the back door to let her in so Blessing wouldn't see her.
Stepping inside he walked up the stairs with her following close behind and lead them to their old bedroom.
"You can shower and change into some of the clothes that you still have here. You know where the towels and stuff are and when you're done, I'll escort you to the guest bedroom once I put Blessing to bed." He explained to her and she nodded.
Getting up, she walked towards the bathroom after thanking him.
Letting out a sigh, he left out the room and walked down the stairs where his mama and Blessing where watching tv.
Peeking around the corner, he sent a text to his mom letting her know to meet him in the kitchen. After waiting a few seconds she soon appeared with a big smile on her face, "When did you get here?"
"Not long, but um Courtney's upstairs and I need you to put Blessing to bed for me while I figure out what I'm gonna do with Courtney."
Giving him a distasteful look, she shook her head. "What is that two timing bitch even doing here in the first place? Don't tell me you're letting her back in Dave especially after all she has done."
"No mama, I'm not. He beats her ma' and I can't let her go back to that." He explained.
"Like hell you can't, she made her bed when she decided to up and leave you and my grandbaby so she better lay her ass in that mess she created and suck it up. She did this to herself." She spat not holding back how she felt whatsoever.
Letting out a sigh, he shook his head and ran his hand down his face. "Mama, I can't sit back and do nothing knowing this man is putting his hands on her. At the end of the day we are still legally married and she is still Blessing's mom, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something happened to her and I sat back did nothing."
Knowing he was right, she apologized. "I was wrong for my approach but I don't trust her Dave. Do whatchu gotta do for her but after that let her go. I'll take Blessing with me tonight, while you figure out what you're gonna do with her. I don't need her around this."
Leaving him in the kitchen alone, Dave sighed before leaving out and going to speak with his babygirl before leaving. Walking into the living room he had already seen the pout on her face as she ran towards him and hugged his legs. "Don't cry bug, its just for one night." He reassured as he lifted her up and kissed her all over her face.
Trying to fight the smile that wanted to come out, she soon failed when he started tickling. Her cute laugh made him laugh and lowkey made him sad that he wouldn't be able to spend this night with her but he couldn't risk her seeing Courtney like this.
When they finally packed up her nignt clothes and clothes for school tomorrow they had left and Dave took that as the time to go and check on Courtney.
Stepping into the room he paused when she saw she was in the middle of wrapping her towel around her body so he was able to see everything including the bruises on her body.
Staring directly at each other, he walked towards her and shook his head as he stared at all the marks on her light skin. "He did this to you Court?"
Nodding her head, she eventually wrapped the towel around herself feeling ashamed. "Despite what you did Courtney, you don't deserve that."
Shaking her head, she blinked causing her eyes to water up. "Yes I do, you didn't deserve what I did to you Dave. Since I left my life has been a living hell, he forces me to do drugs, he beats me and is changing me into this person I am not and I can't be mad at anybody but myself." She sniffled.
Hearing that angered him, he knew it was some fucked up men in this world but he couldn't believe this man was doing all of this to her.
"Get dressed and meet me downstairs."
Leaving her to finish getting presentable, he shook his head to himself not sure what to say or how to feel about all of this. Reaching the living room, he took a seat and sat back trying to clear his mind of the thoughts that where running through his head.
Minutes later Courtney was making her way down the stairs and soon appeared in the living room sitting beside him.
Playing with her fingers nervously, her eyes stayed glued to her feet while Dave just watched. "How long has he been doing this to you Courtney?"
She shrugged, "A few months, I don't know at this point. He does it so much I've lose track of how long its been."
"Have you ate anything?"
Shaking her head no, he stood to his feet and walked into the kitchen to heat her up some of leftovers he had. Fixing her a plate she put it in the microwave then sat it on the dining table before calling her to come eat.
The whole time she ate, Dave played with his beard and just watched. She was eating as if she hadn't ate in months and he shook his head becoming pissed with this whole situation.
Looking up from her plate, she slightly jumped when she saw him already staring but then awkwardly smiled before looking down. "I really appreciate this Dave, I know I'm the last person you want to help or see but I really do appreciate this."
"At the end of the day Courtney, I still got love for you and you're the mother of my child you know its in my character to help those in need." He explained and she nodded smiling.
"Yeah, you've always been the giving type. Remember when we came across that homeless man and you gave him your food you had just brought from Wendy's and he called you a dickhead for not giving him money instead." She laughed causing him to do the same.
"That man was crazy, I forgot all about that." He laughed as he shook his head thinking back to that day. "That was the day our car had broke down in the rain and we had to wait two hours until someone came and got us. That day was stressful as hell, had to be one of our worst days together."
Smiling she shrugged, "It wasn't all that bad,"
Glancing over at her, he caught onto what she meant then laughed because during the course of them waiting they had sex for the first time together in college. "Yeah, I guess it wasn't that bad." He chuckled.
After a while things got back quiet and Courtney continued to eat her food. Standing up from her chair, she slightly jumped out of fear making him even more irritated. "Blessing is gone for the night, you know where the guest bedroom is. I'm finna go to bed, I'm tired and we'll just talk more in the morning."
Heading up the stairs he walked into his room and began stripping out of his clothes to take his shower. Walking into the bathroom he picked up her clothes and threw them in the hamper before turning on the shower and letting it warm up before stepping inside.
Closing the door he stood under the water letting the warmness of it hit his skin. Grabbing his towel and soap he began washing himself but stopped once he felt arms snake around his torso.
Turning around to face Courtney, he went to say something but she stopped him by shushing him. "Just let me take care of you and make up for all the pain I have caused."
Stepping on her tippy toes, she pressed her lips against his before sliding her tongue into his mouth. When he started kissing back, she smiled then pulled away before dropping to her knees coming face to face with his now hard dick.
When she took him all in her mouth, every thought of stopping her went out the window and he felt so foolish for letting her do this but he couldn't resist her, and if he had to shamelessly admit, he missed her.
