"Just across the pond" they say
and that's where I'd go someday
to have some tea and play croquet
and visit Big Ben and Robin Hood's Bay

Perhaps I'd take in a football game
not like what we have over here
and then stroll down Drury Lane
and hire a boat at old Windermere

Perhaps I'd pray in Canterbury
and write some tales of my own
I don't believe I'd be in any hurry
once I got there to go home

Westminster must be grand
but I'd rather see the English Broads
Someday I'll get to that other land
and I too will say, "just across the pond"
