Today is National brownie day,

a cross between a cookie and a cake,

so sit down and enjoy one,

which ever sort you bake.

The chocolate brownie is the favourite 

though the blonde one not far behind,

made with brown sugar,not chocolate,

it's still a delight you'll find.

It is widely accepted that the first brownie recipe appeared in the 1906 edition of The Boston Cooking-School Cook Book edited by Fannie Merritt Farmer, the recipe is not as rich or chocolaty.  The largest brownie ever made was at the Hudson Valley Chocolate Festival and Holiday Crafts Show in Suffern, New York in 2001, using 750 lbs of melted chocolate chips, the enormous brownie weighed in at 3,000 lbs .
