Chapter 22 : Party

DK Kitchen

Lavanya rejected Aman's call concentrating on her 'Rogan Josh'. She was in no mood to talk to him.

It had been three weeks since she joined the Restaurant, and it been a month of their wedding life, which was a mess right now.

'My husband is the most difficult part of it.' She thought with a whimper.

Whenever she did something good for him, he didn't acknowledge it. And when she got upset with it, he tried to get her attention either by asking meaningless questions or by showing his concern. Like now, he was calling her third time since morning.

'Can't he behave as a normal husband?'

Last night, she had cooked his favourite dish, it being a monthiversery of their wedding.

But what he said was, "You don't need to cook at home Lavanyaji. There are servants here."

'He could at least give a lovely remark.'

She huffed as her phone started ringing again. "Amanji calling." Gauri saw her rejecting it.

Gauri had become a close friend of Lavanya in these three weeks, with whom she could share most of the things.

"You like Aman, don't you?" Gauri asked out of blue.

Lavanya was caught off guarded but she was not going to hide it anymore. She had realized that she was no more in love with Arnav. 'Is it possible to happen in just one month?' Even she was surprised.

"Doesn't matter, he loves someone else." She told in a low voice.

"What!!" Gauri was surprised, "He revolves around you like a love-lost puppy, drops and picks you everyday without fail, and calls you at lest three times a day!" Gauri stopped to take a breath, "And you are telling me that he loves someone else!"

"He doesn't revolve around me! He does it all because he considers it as his responsibility!" Finding Gauri still confused Lavanya finally told her, "We are married!"

GR Technical Room

"They have gone alert, ASR! The interceptor is not able to catch the signals!" The software engineer, hired to tap phone calls of the traitors, told them.

"Did you use cloning like last time?" Khushi asked.

"No use KKG. They have upgraded their security settings." He answered.

It had been three weeks since that meeting, when Rohit Malik planned to kill Arnav to get the company.

"Inform us if you detect anything." Saying so, Khushi, Aman and Arnav came out of the room...heading towards Arnav's cabin.

There were two deadly attacks on Arnav till now, but he had managed to escape.

"The driver who has charged truck on you has been arrested." Aman informed them. It had taken two weeks to catch him. Thankfully Arnav was out of the car which was rummaged by the truck on the highway.

"I'll make sure he never sees sunlight again!" Khushi was furious. "Did the shooter get caught?"

The second attempt to murder Arnav was, on last Sunday, when he had gone to attend the Fashion event in Mumbai. His shoulder had got injured lightly.

"Yes KKG, he was not handed over to Police and flied to our Chennai branch." He was to be handled by them privately.

'Chachaji is playing really dirty!' Arnav thought.

As per his agents, their next plan was to blast his chopper when he would be going to Lucknow in two days. But it was not confirmed yet.

"KKG, any specification for the party tonight." Aman asked her.

"Cancel it Aman. There will be no party." Khushi was tensed with the happenings around her.

"It was postponed already twice, let it be. It is only for staff anyways." Arnav had promised it immediately after marriage but something or other delayed it till now.

"No way it is happening." Khushi crossed him again, "They could take advantage of any opportunity." She didn't want to take risk.

Aman went out, giving them privacy to decide among themselves.

'They will fight for another hour now', he thought.

It was a routine. They didn't get along on any matter at first. Then after blackmailing one another, they would come to a solution. Aman closed the door behind him.

"Khushi, stop making a fuss. It's a small party for only staff, who will be checked properly before entering the venue." They had started fighting already.

"You have said same thing when you had gone alone for the site-seeing and then fashion event." Khushi continued, "After all you need an opportunity to show how great you are." But she wouldn't express her true feelings.

"I don't need to show off, I am already great, smart, shrewd, stylish, handsome etc etc." He moved his hands in air, "That's the reason you are jealous of me!" Arnav's words made her furious.

"Jealous of you!! In your dreams!!" She smirked.

"You are! Gupta! That's why you are struggling to come with me to Lucknow." Khushi had also planned to go with him while Arnav was against the idea.

"I don't want people to say that I baited you. That is the only reason. Don't think you are popular here!" Khushi stood up and turned to go away.

"Really? Then let the party happen and see yourself who gets more attention in the party." He caught her in her own words. "Or you are afraid of even competing with me?"

"You think too high of yourself Raizada! You can never defeat me in popularity." She flipped her hair.

"That will be decided tonight!" He said with a smirk.

"Challenge accepted!" Khushi folded her hands.

Aman's Cabin

Aman contemplated whether to call again Lavanya or not. She seemed to be busy since morning, not answering it.

It was since last night that she had started avoiding him. She had cooked his favourite Chhole Bhature in dinner but he had not said anything.

What else he could when he was too depressed thinking that he couldn't eat that dish of her hand after five months.

'Did she know that it is my favourite dish.' He had thought. 'But how can she know and why will she take so much effort for me.' He was too busy in his own demons, ignoring the hurt face of Lavanya.

'I should have complimented her!' He had finally made sense. That's why he was finding some excuse to talk to her.

He decided to text her to get some reply, "I hope you remember about the party tonight."

Lavanya read her husband's message, but didn't reply anything.

"So he wants you to come to the party." Gauri said as Lavanya had told her about everything. "Will you go?"

"No! I am sure that Sheetal will be there. I can't stand them together." Lavanya was fuming.

While Gauri smiled. 'This girl doesn't like, but loves him.'

"I think you should go. That would give a strong message to Sheetal." Gauri's words made Lavanya look at her thoughtfully. "You can also make him jealous by flirting with his colleagues." Gauri was sure that it would help in knowing about Aman's true feelings.

"I don't know how to flirt!" Lavanya said, "And what if I start crying seeing Sheetal with him?" Gauri sighed at her innocent friend.

"Just wear something hot and keep smiling. That will be sufficient." Gauri was determined to send her to party.

Aman was staring at his mobile screen since half an hour to notice any change. His face brightened up seeing the message popping up,

"Yeah I remember. I'll be ready."

He exhaled finally.

Up above the sky:

Shashi was content now, 'Arnav has almost learnt how to deal with his wife!'

He was a little worried for Lavanya but then he was content with her friend Gauri who was there to help her!

Shashi leaned back calmly, as he switched off the 'direct from earth' telecast.
