6-We live, even if we are forgotten

I think to myself-
Why are the people who are most well known,
Most popular
Most "successful"
Are many times
The ones who are shallow,
Seemingly selfish
And
Seem to use their own power to get their own way
(Let's not forget the wrong messages they sent-how abuse can be romantic; it's not.)
How did our world end up worshipping those who are mean-spirited?
And ignore many (not all) who are genuine in their art, in their actions, in everything else?
It is almost tempting to blame God,
For the unfairness of those who get the fame, the love, the recognition-so many things.

But.
Maybe that's the point:
These may be superficial things at most (maybe that's why God isn't that bothered to reward that),
Almost egoistic.
We want to be known,
To be alive beyond the death of our bodies
To be remembered reverently through history-
Almost alive as much as a corpse can be that's being admired and treated as a real person
While forgetting the intimate touch of another,
Or the joy of the simple life that touches a deep part of us.
Art is birthed from living the mundane, the painful, the dreamy-everything.
Maybe the point is this-
Fame, money, everything on the top is at best an illusion of immortality;
But life is the reality,
And those who live it are genuine
Because they are always aware-
They aren't going to be remembered,
So let's live the life we won't regret.
