A/N: IDC is a good sister, but I think her trauma has manifested to being very protective over her little brother
Basically someone help the government twins
"Hold it in your lungs, keep it there...."
"Dee? Where the hell are you?"
"Keep it in. There you go."
"He would disappear right when we had important work to do..."
"Now blow it out....there ya go....feel better?"
"DEE." IDC yelled rounding the corner of the large government building where she and her twin worked, looking down the side at the area where they mostly threw their trash for the garbage men to pick up. DC was sitting there, leaning against the side of the building, head up against the wall facing the sun, smiling.
"Jesus Christ, he usually hides in the bathroom." Washington muttered following the older government twin as they walked towards the fed.
"Dee where they hell have you been? We need those documents signed before the senate session." IDC announced. DC opened his eyes, and smiled at IDC.
"IDC, it's such a nice day isn't it?" DC asked in a sing-song voice, and IDC's something's wrong bells were ringing.
"DC what's going on?" IDC demanded.
"It's so warm." DC whispered, smiling again, then raising something small to his lips and taking a drag. He yelped as it was ripped out of his hands.
"The FUCK is this?" IDC yelled.
"Ohhh he's zooted." Washington snickered. IDC turned to the state and raised an eyebrow.
"Doped up?" Washington tried again and IDC still looked at him confused.
"He's very high right now." Washington said with a sigh.
"HE'S HIGH?" IDC yelled tossing, what she knew now was, a blunt to the ground.
"Hey that was...that was good weed." DC whined as IDC helped him up.
"Washington get him into his office, pour as much coffee down his throat as you can to sober him up." IDC ordered.
"IDC it's legal here, it's not that big of a deal." Washington pointed out.
"He's the federal government, this is a very big deal!" IDC yelled, grabbing her cellphone out of her pocket. "I have a call to make."
"YOUR WEED GOT HIM HIGH."
"Okay, it wasn't mine." California groaned, really wishing he was having any other conversation then this one right now. "It was probably Colorado's, he packs DC some before he leaves to calm him down."
"He WHAT?" IDC screamed.
"Oh please IDC, what do you think those gummies are that he pops right before a senate session?" California smirked, pleased at himself at the horrified noises his boyfriend's sister was making.
"This is just one big joke to you isn't it?" IDC hissed.
"It kind of is, you're so worked up over nothing, it's not like he's addicted. He doesn't even do it all the time." California pointed out.
"He shouldn't even be doing it at all." IDC chased.
"Oh why, 'cuss he's the federal government or because you still think he's three?" California asked. Silence filled the other line.
"How. Dare. You?" IDC yelled. "I do not treat my brother like he's three!"
"Oh REALLY?" California asked. "He was terrified to smoke at first because you'd rip into him. He's been talking about moving to Orlando permanently but you want him to stay in Washington, he can't go a day without checking in with you, face it, you still think he's that three year old child who's dependent on you for everything."
"I've been looking after DC all my fucking life." IDC hissed. "Don't you dare say I'm doing it wrong because let me tell you fucking something, after mom died and dad fucked off, I was all he had."
"But he's a GROWN MAN, IDC." California pointed out, getting increasingly frustrated. "He drinks! He smokes occasionally when he can get talked into it! Do you want me to get into how much sex he has with at least three of us because I fucking can."
"He's my BROTHER."
"And he'll always be your brother but when will you get over this fucking complex that makes you terrified of LOSING HIM?" California yelled. Silence filled the other line again.
"I knew this was a mistake, I knew if he started those meetings, something would happen. God I wish this pandemic would just end so he could come home!" IDC yelled.
"Mm yep nope, except when the pandemic ends he's not coming home. He's staying in Orlando." California said. "When will you let him go?"
"You don't know what we've been through...."
"I've learned plenty but there's a time in DC's life when you have to accept him for what he is, a grown fucking man." California pointed out. He rolled his eyes at the dial tone on the other end, he must've hit a nerve. He didn't mean to keep pushing IDC's buttons, but the fact that DC's sister kept thinking of him as a toddler was really starting to bug him. Would she ever just accept that he was grown up? That he could make his own choices? Maybe she was the one who needed to smoke a little, not DC.
IDC threw her cellphone in frustration back on her chair in the office, just as Washington entered with DC lagging behind clutching a mug of coffee and rubbing his head.
"Mm sorry, Washington said I was napping pretty hard there." DC admitted. IDC sighed in relief, at least he forgot his little incident from a few hours ago. She made a mental note to search DC's bag every time he came back from Orlando, but smiled at her brother.
"It's no problem Dee, we do need to sign these bills though." IDC announced patting her desk.
"Oh joy, my favorite activity." DC muttered, pulling up a chair and getting to work. IDC sat down as well and began to sign, but couldn't help but keep glancing up at her brother while he worked. None of the five DCs dating could understand what the two had been through; from their mother dying, to their father's abuse, it was always the government twins against the world. She was not losing her brother just because he found love in the heart of Florida (figuratively and metaphorically), she made a promise long ago to always look out for him, always protect him, and be the big sister she was supposed to be.
And she wasn't about to break it now.
