Chapter one
Dawnkit looked around for Icekit and, upon spotting him, bounded over. She had opened her eyes a couple of days ago and as soon as she did Icekit was on her and wanting to play. She had no time to rest. She wanted to see it all. Dawnkit couldn't believe how big the world was. It was amazing.
"So what do you want to do now?" She said when she caught up to him. She wanted so play a game or explore or something. She was restless. All this energy in her had to be taken out of her system.
"Lets explore!" Icekit paused and looked around, "Lets explore outside!"
She snorted a small laugh, "We are outside ding dong!"
He frowned. "I mean, outside the camp!"
Dawnkit's Eyes widened. "But we're not old enough! We're still kits!" Her voice was a wine. It's not that she was scared by the outside world, she was scared of what her mother would say.
Icekit put on a smug face, "You aren't scared, are you?"
"No! I just don't want to get in trouble with mom!" She didn't like when mother was mad, it was weird. She always has a loving tone, so when she's angry... it just didn't sound right.
"Come on! We'll just really quickly go out and come back in! They'll never know we're gone." He started walking toward the entrance, looking around to make sure no one was looking.
Dawnkit wasn't sure about this. But she didn't want Icekit to go alone. "Wait up!" She loudly whispered. She ran over and they quietly stalked out together.
She couldn't believe it! The outside world was bigger than the camp! It looked infinitely big. Like the trees would go on forever. But they had to go back inside, the longer they stayed the bigger the chance of someone noticing that they were gone. "Ok let's go back inside Icekit."
He didn't notice what she said. He started wandering, further and further away.
"Icekit! Where are you going!" She wanted to yell it, but she couldn't risk some cat hearing them, in stead she loudly whispered it again.
"I'm exploring! Come on! I'm not going to wait up for you. If your scared the go back into the camp, but I'm going to keep going!" He kept going like he said he would.
Again she didn't want him to be alone, so she followed. But they didn't get far. They heard loud pawsteps coming in they're direction. Multiple pawsteps. Multiple cats. That were all shouting. She could just make it out what they were saying, 'Dawnkit! Icekit!' They were looking for them.
"Come on, let's go back now Icekit!" She turned around, but Icekit was gone. Frantically she looked around, but he was nowhere to be seen.
"Oh my Starclan! Dawnkit, I have never been happier to see you! You are in so much trouble! Where is Icekit?" Oh no. Crystalheart. Her mother.
She turned around and looked into her mom's eyes. "I dont-"
She was cut off by an ear shattering squeak. "Icekit!" She yelled and broke into a run in the direction of the squeak.
"Help! Help me! Dawnkit! Mom! Somebody please!" Icekit's high pitched meow sounded pitiful and terrified. She ran harder, hearing the pounding of other cats behind her. It was either the cats behind her or the beating of her heart in her ears.
She reached where he was and her blood went cold, turned to ice. There she saw Icekit. His mouth open in a soundless wail, caught in the mouth of a badger.
