Chapter One
A lone Mismagius floated through the forest, dodging trees and branches. Her eyes stared ahead.
The witch eventually came to a large pine tree. She floated to the top and stopped at a small hole. She knocked softly on the wood.
"Jasna? Are you in there?" she softly called. When there was no response, the Mismagius poked her head through the hole. She gasped and withdrew from the tree. She floated away in a panic.
From the shadows, a young Misdreavus watched her. She chuckled softly.
A Gastly appeared next to her. "Did you really just dodge Esmera?"
"Of course I did," the Misdreavus replied. "She's my mother. I know her better than anyone else would."
The Gastly chuckled. "We know, Jasna."
"There's a meeting tonight, right? Where's this one at?"
"Mount Nesim. Shayla, Eko, and Kole are all there already."
Jasna pouted. "Can't they come here? I hate floating for long distances."
The Gastly scoffed. "It's not that far. Lake Tovia isn't that big."
"You wouldn't know, Akseli. You have Levitate."
"And so do you," Akseli said with a smug look. "Stop complaining."
Jasna sighed. "Fine. What about Kia. Is she bringing her Phantump friend?"
"According to her, no. She couldn't come for reasons unknown."
Jasna sighed. She didn't hate her, but Kia always rubbed off in her the wrong way. The Pumpkaboo was eccentric. She also insisted on bringing her Phantump friend, also for reasons unknown.
"Whatever. Let's just go. You know how impatient Kole gets."
"Dammit... where are they?" a Duskull muttered, pacing.
"You know Akseli. He'll be here soon," a Shuppet called from his spot near a gravestone. A Litwick snuggled against him, her yellow eye wide.
"Hush, Eko. You don't understand. He's with Jasna. You how that Misdreavus is."
"Patient?"
The Duskull glared. "Shut it."
"Calm down, Kole," the Litwick called softly.
"That's like telling an Exploud not to be loud," Eko muttered.
"I am calm, Shayla," Kole replied, his red eye twitching.
"I can see that. Is that Pumpkaboo coming?"
"Who, Kia? Of course she is."
"Wonderful," both ghosts muttered.
"I hope they all hurry up. The Squad's on high tonight."
"Why?" Shayla asked.
"Some Decidueye attacked a patrol according to a Trevenant."
"Gotta admire his guts, though," Eko said, chuckling.
"Shush. Don't be so loud."
Shayla rolled her eyes as Kole resumed his pacing.
