Foreshadow

She laid in her bed, forcing herself to fall asleep. She felt homesick.

But she couldn't think about leaving without notice since she had no choice to leave. She sighed deeply before forcing herself into a light slumber.

She woke up with a knock on her door, "Wake up, it's time for breakfast." the voice muffled on the other side of the door. "Goodmorning," Levi peeked in from the door.

"Goodmorning," she smiled.

"Get ready. I'm gonna train you." he said, closing the door immediately after. She was excited to be trained, escpecially by Levi, just in case the situation called for it.

She groaned as she got up from her bed, feeling exhausted from her lack of sleep the previous night. There was another knock, "Get ready."

"I'm up, I'm up." she called out. "Geez, Levi."

"Levi?" She stumbled to get to the door.

"Shit," she cursed under her breath as she opened the door. "Oh, Jean! Hey!" she waved her hand.

"Did you just say Captain Levi's name?" he scratched his head.

"What? No, I said... Cheese... pie." she cracked a smile. "In what context would I ever say Levi?" she forced a laugh, realizing that no one in the right mind would say what she just said in any context. He raised a brow at her.

"Well, breakfast is ready." he replied. "I'll wait for you out here." he pointed behind him.

"Yeah," she exhaled. "I'll.. be back." she shut the door and got ready for the day.

She earned a look from Levi as she walked into the mess hall with Jean, scurrying through the tables and getting to where she usually sat after getting her food. Levi's eyebrows twitched in jealousy. She gave him a subtle smile, reassuring him. She looked away before anyone can notice.

"I'm sure you know where you can cut the titans so they have no chance of regenerating, am I right?" Levi stated as they walked into the training grounds.

"Yeah, in the nape of the neck, right?" she answered, feeling confident about her extenisve knowledge about the titans- at least to the extent that Isayama allows her to know in the mean time.

"Good. How about the manuever gear?" he continued to test her.

"Well, from what I saw illustrated in your books, theres a grapple hook launched by those pistol looking things, and gas to help you launch yourself with the help of the fan or... something." she scratched her head. "Oh and right, the straps and the blades too."

"... I meant actually operating them- physically, with your body." he turned to look at her and saw her face turn pale. Her physical abilities would then be tested today.

She shook her head, "No."

"I'll be the one to teach you how. But in combat, I'll have that kid that tails around you to train you. I'll teach you a few moves myself. Just... don't let-"

"Don't let him get too close to me, got it Levi." she smiled, reaching for his hand but stopping midway as she realized that there were people around.

"Here, put this on," he tossed a belt her way.

She hooked herself onto the training harnesses and waited for him to raise her.

"Levi," she called to him as she balanced on the harnesses, "I was thinking that maybe you can come back to my setting before the expedition." she asked quietly. "Along with Hange."

He looked at her and contemplated, maybe it wouldn't hurt to spend his possible last few days with the person he cared the most. "Sure."

"Can you promise me something, though?" she asked.

"What is it?"

"Make sure you come back after the expedition." she looked away. She didn't want to doubt Levi and his ability to defend himself even in the tightest situations but anything could happen. "I want to go to the supermarket again with you guys. I just remembered I need food."

"I promise." He replied, walking up to her hanging body, pulling her closer. He made sure no one was looking before tiptoeing to give a quick peck on her lips.

She blushed, despite the fact that they've been together for a while, she wasn't used to his unpredictable displays of affection.

He watched her balance on the harness, analysing her abilities to use it in actual combat. She wasn't the best at using the gear considering the fact that she's never had experience with them, but she had potential.

He lowered her down from the harness, "I'm going to train you to maneuver and use your blades."

She followed him into the forest, making sure to stay a considerable amount of feet away from him, hoping no one would suspect them.

The forest was filled with tall trees to which she could use her gear, along with decoy titans to practice slicing.

"You use the first trigger to launch the grapple hooks, then the second one to release gas into the fans to propel yourself." he instructed, helping her hold the blades properly and firmly.

He lauched himself up and landed on top of a tree, waiting for her. "Try landing here."

She fingers shook as pressed the first trigger, aiming for two parallel trees. Her legs feeling weak as she braced herself for the projectile speed. She took a deep breath as she pressed onto the second trigger, nearly losing her balance in the air, her heart beating millions per second. Despite the fact that she wasn't the most agile person to exist and how she could potentially get injured, she was excited to do something that the book she read was known for.

She tried to find the center of her balance and prepare for her landing. As she landed on the tree branch, her legs failed to find its traction, nearly making her slip off the tree. He grabbed the back of her jacket before she completely fell off.

"You need more practice. But I have to leave. I've got paperwork to do today. Don't injure yourself. Get someone to supervise you, if you can't find anybody, don't do it. Understood?"

"Yes mom," she joked, chuckling.

"Tch," he lauched himself down onto the ground to which she followed.

"I'll see you later," he said. He patted her head, not knowing how to properly dismiss himself.

"Okay," she replied, stifling a laugh.

"What?" he turned around.

"Nothing, it's just... why'd you pat my head?" she giggled.

He turned back around and started walking away, "Shut up. I'll see you later."

She turned towards the forest and down at her blades, she was tempted to launch herself once again, but she didn't want to disobey Levi.

She heard a chuckle behind her.

"You and captain Levi?" he approached.

"Armin! Oh yeah, he was just training me." she stuttered, she knew Armin was far too smart to believe her lies.

"I meant you guys are together," he added shyly hoping not to come off too nosy. "I read it in the book."

She looked at him wide eyed, even her relationship with Levi was in the book. "What?"

"Yeah, I figured it was you since no one else would be named (y/n) here and you seem to be quite close to captain Levi. Just like in the book, along with Squad Leader Hange." He suspected. She wasn't surprised since he was the one who found out who killed Sonny and Bean and ultimately betrayed humanity. "Also, you're relatively new here, and getting into the Scouting Legion takes a while. Being Squad Leader's "cousin" shouldn't get you a ticket in here either, because you need to train, and from what I saw between you and captain Levi, it seems like you're new. (y/n) where are you from?"

She put a finger to her lip, "Please don't say anything about it, Armin. It's kind of a long story." she muttered quietly. "I'll tell you later."

He zipped his lip with his hand and nodded. "Mhm."

"I trust you, okay? No one was supposed to know." she confessed.

"I won't." he chuckled, "No offense, but I didn't know captain Levi would ever date anyone." he added, putting on his belt.

"Me too, to be honest. But no one really knows much about him. He's full of surprises."

(A/N) Hi friend!

Gah okay so first of all my apologies for being a complete ass and updating on tuesdays. I was going to update this weekend but it was thanksgiving! Not only that, I also had to look through the plot and how to figure out the ending because as you may or may not know, this story is very close to its conclusion.

I've already decided the ending and I just want to say that make sure you cuddle up in bed and eat a bag of doritos.

Okay maybe not. I'm over estimating the ending. But, maybe 5-7 chapters left of this story, probably. It's sad for me since I had so much fun writing this.

But yeah, this was a short chapter in comparison to the others, but that's because I didn't want to bridge off to the next chapter yet.

Anyways, thank you for reading and have a great day!

Edit: Another thing I should mention, I'm so sorry if I don't respond to some comments sometimes, I never get notifications for it on my phone and when I do see them, it's far too late to reply. Oh my god I'm so sorry I'm such a procrastinating human being
But I promise I don't ignore them I would never ignore comments ahh
