Chapter 7

"Homeless?!" I practically yell. We're at Sonic's house with the others discussing what to do. "You mean to tell me Midna doesn't have a home?"
"Yea," Sonic answers nervously, scratching his quills, "she never had a home. We always offered to give her a place to stay, but she never wanted to live with any of us."
"Why not?" Asriel asks.
"She never said," Tails responds. I sigh.
"When we find her, I need to have a chat with her." I don't understand why she wouldn't want a place to live. When Asriel and I were on the run, I always wanted a place to live where I could properly raise him.
"Point is," Zelda intervenes, "we have to find her. She could still be trapped in there."
"How?" Asriel asks," if she's one of us, she should have come back?" Zelda's silent.
"Zelda?" Rosalina asks, "what are you not telling us?"
"I...I think Midna should tell us. Not me. We should look for her. If she's not back, I dread to think what he's doing to her."
"Who?" Tails asks.
"You've already met him."
"The trial guy! He must have some connection to Midna!"
"Again, I'll let her explain. For now, let's go."

I walked downtown with Asriel next to me in human form. Usually, when I'm out with him, I wear a hoodie. Today, it's a light blue one. Azzy runs around, trying to splash in puddles that appeared last from the rain. We look down each and every alleyway for Midna. I suddenly notice Asriel isn't next to me, but stoped slightly behind me.
"Asriel, what's up?"
"This way." He bolts down a street suddenly.
"Asriel! Come back here!" He continues to run. Left and right around corners seemingly randomly. He stops in front of a alleyway between a pizza place and a boutique.
"What... the heck... Azzy?" I ask out of breath.
"She's in here." He walks in and I reluctantly follow. I held his hand in case he ran off again. We stop at a dead end. A small cardboard shelter is set up. Someone's in front of it.
"Thought you two would get here sooner," the person says turning around. It's that boy, Shadow. I have to resist the urge to blast him after what happened in the dark house. "I wasn't trying to kill Asriel you know," he says suddenly as if reading my thoughts.
"Then what was your goal?" I demand.
"Tell you later. I had to take Midna to the hospital, if you're wondering where she is."
"What?! What happened to her?"
"She almost got trapped in the Dark House. She got away, but it nearly cost her life."
"How do you know this?" Asriel asks, "and why should we trust you?"
"Look, I know I tried to kill your sister, but for now, if you want to help Midna, I'm your best shot." I sigh.
"I'll tell the others to meet us at the hospital." For the first time he smiles nicely. "Don't think I trust you yet, you still tried to kill me."
"The same to you and your monster brother."
"He's not a monster!"

Fifteen minuets later...
I'm waiting at the hospital with Asriel. The others are on their way and Shadow's with us. I'm keeping a close eye on him. This kinda reminded me of the day Asriel was born, waiting outside a hospital room for some good news. The doctor comes out.
"Your friend has sustained multiple strange injuries. I believe she'll be fine, however, I cannot be certain. I assume you want to see her." The three of us nod,  "very well, come on in."  Inside, Midna is unconscious in her human form and barley breathing. Sure enough, she's really bruised up. Her skin is a lot lighter and her face is a lot darker.
"Mid..." I grab her hand  to feel a faint pulse. Asriel climbs on the bed and looks like he's about to cry.
"What happened?" His voice is brittle and shaky. Shadow, for once, was silent.
"I...couldn't stop him. This is my fault."
"H...how? W...who?"
"Midna!" Tails yells running in. He's followed by Sonic who has a very displeased look on his face.
"Shadow, a word please?" Without waiting for a response, he grabs Shadow by the collar.
"Hey! Watch the jacket!" They both exit as Zelda and Rosalina enter.
"Oh gods." Rosalina cups her hands over her mouth.
"Looks worse on your side?" Zelda asks. I give her a confused look. "Give her your glasses."
"They help me see others as they truly are." I put them on and see she's right. I see Asriel and Tails as animals and Midna as...oh gods Midna. Instead of a pale face, her face is a dark blue almost black. Her usually black skin is white as a ghost with splotches of light blue. She looks close to death. I hand them to Asriel, who nearly breaks out in tears at what he sees. I grab him into a hug as he hands them to Tails. He only looks for a second before removing them and hands them to Zelda.
"Excuse me." He goes out of the room and the door barley shuts before I hear him sobbing.
"Shouldn't we go help him?" Asriel asks.
"Give him some time," Rosalina assures him, "Sonic is better at comforting him. He'll see Tails and have a talk."

Sonic
"Okay, what the heck happened Shadow?" Sonic asks outside the hospital in the parking lot. Shadow looks down at the ground.
"I...wasn't in time."
"What do you mean? I know you were in the Dark House, but everyone should have come back at the same time."
"Midna was captured by one of the servants of the House. When I heard she was trapped, unable to escape, I teleported back in."
"You can travel between the two at anytime?!"
"Heh yeah. Only during the day and sometimes I'm blocked. Thank goodness I wasn't this time. I found her in one of the upper floors, chained in some kind of a dungeon. I freed her, but the servant was quick and found us out. As I was teleporting us out, he tried to stop us by sending a ball of light at us."
"Why would he send a ball of light instead of darkness?"
"Both of us are extremely vulnerable to light. We're barley able to dwell in the light of day. Midna jumped in font of me as I teleported us out. If I hadn't teleported at that moment, she might've been okay." He sighs.
"Why would you go through all that trouble to save her. I thought you hated all of us."
"I don't...look, the point is, that servant is going to come after her tonight. He can't enter the safe room as long as someone else is in there. She will get teleported tonight and won't be able to fight. Have someone, preferably Rhion and not Tails, stay in with her. No more than one person."
Sonic sighed. "Alright, but how can I trust you won't try and kill Rhion in the safe room or Asriel when he's with someone else?"
"I swear on the river Styx I won't try to kill them again." Sonic takes a step back. Swearing on the river Styx is the most dangerous thing you can do. If you break it, you'll spend forever suffering. Not physically, but close enough.
"Okay, for now, I trust you. Let's head back in."
"No."
"No?"
"I have to do something, you go back in." With that, Shadow teleports away, leaving Sonic confused as all heck. He goes in to the hospital to see Tails crying outside the room.
"Tails?" He looks up.
"H-hi Sonic. Didn't...see you."
"What's wrong?" He sat on the floor next to his friend.
"It's M-Minda. She's so hurt and s-she might die! I feel helpless. I...I can't do a thing."
"Yes you can." Sonic wrapped his arms around Tails.
"H-how?"
"Believe in her. Knowing Midna, she'll be up and fighting tomorrow."
"Y-you're right Sonic. She's going to be okay."
"How bout we grab ice cream for everyone?"
"Yeah!"

Somewhere else...
"What?!" The mysterious man yelled and slammed his fists on a desk. "He's alive?!"
"Y-yes my lord," Zant stuttered taking a step back, "I'm not certain how-"
"He's will be a big threat to our plan. Find a way to kill him for good!"
"Yes sir." Zant bowed.
"Now, how's Midna?"
"She's in a hospital, I assume the others will keep her in the safe room with someone else."
"It doesn't matter if she remains alive or dies. They're both traitors. Keep an eye on her."

Such an emotional chapter. However, the tears don't stop here. Bye!
