After showing Cameron around the school a bit more, we started heading to our first class together since the bell was going to go soon. By this time a lot of students were arriving at the school and all the girls were looking at Cameron and whispered exited to each other. I was a bit uncomfortable with everyone looking towards us. I knew they were all focusing on Cameron, but I was walking next to him so it felt like everyone's eyes were on me as well. After what seemed like the longest walk ever, we finally reached our English classroom.
"So this is our English classroom. Mr. Walker is a pretty chill teacher so it shouldn't be a hard class." I explained to Cameron then started to walk towards one of the desks at the back and dropped my books on the desk and sat down.
I wasn't expecting Cameron to sit next to me or anything but that was exactly what he did. He followed me and sat down on the desk next to me. It got awkward fast considering I had nothing else to say to him and he obviously had nothing to say to me but luckily, more people started to enter the classroom.
Unfortunately the most popular girl of Haltwood High and her crew were in the same class. This is just great.
The popular crew is made up of four girls. Amanda Sorra, the leader, is your typical popular girl. She is gorgeous and can pretty much be a supermodel with her perfect long wavy blonde hair, long legs, and perfect body. Every girl wants to be her and of course she grabbed the attention of every boy.
She has three "minions" who fight for her attention and approval. I will never understand that. Why would you get bossed around voluntarily by a mean girl? I mean sure it does have its perks like being popular and 'friends' with Amanda but still, not worth the work in my eyes.
Her three minions, Lily Hampton, Hailey Ninda, and Ericka Mally, are basically identical copies of Amanda. They all have the same perfect body, supermodel looking features, and are still wanted by all the boys. All four of them are obviously cheerleaders as well which means they are sort of friends with Sam. By 'sort of' I mean they will occasionally talk to her, but since Sam normally hangs out with me, she could never fully be one of them which doesn't make too much sense to me but I'm glad that Sam will never leave me for them.
The four of them ended up sitting in the middle of the classroom and I saw Amanda look at Cameron who was sitting next to me.
"Who's the new guy?" I heard Amanda whisper to one of her minions with interest in her voice.
"Hey new guy, come sit over here next to me!" Amanda said in her cute voice that is known to seduce any guy.
For some reason I got...jealous? I mean I don't think I like Cameron considering I don't know him well enough since I only met him a few minutes ago. He is really good looking but I know he isn't the type of guy that likes someone like me so why do I feel jealous that Amanda wanted him to sit next to her? I wouldn't have time for a boyfriend since it's my senior year and I should really be focusing on dance and my future. Maybe its because Amanda can get any guy she wants so why can't she leave the only guy that has ever noticed me at this school alone?
Cameron looked up from his phone and replied, "Uh...no thanks I'm good sitting here next to Cassandra. It's Cameron by the way."
I looked over to Cameron in shock to see that he was smiling at me and then I turned my head to Amanda and her friends with a slight smile on my face. Ha! Take that Amanda! I bet you have never heard a guy say no to you before!
Shock crossed Amanda's face but it was gone in a second. I heard her minions whisper, "Who's Cassandra?" and "How dare he?!" but I focused on Amanda who flipped her blonde hair over her shoulder and said, "Well Cameron, I'm Amanda and once you're done hanging around little nobodies, come and talk to me." With that, she winked and turned around back to her minions.
I didn't mind that she called me a "nobody" because it is true, but I was still in shock that Cameron would turn down Amanda to sit with me. I turned back to face Cameron and asked him, "You don't want to sit with Amanda?"
"Not really. She seems like that girl that isn't very nice and I just like to sit with nobodies anyway." He smirked and winked at me.
Someone bring me to the hospital because I think I just died. Okay Cassy. Calm down! Right when I was done calming down my nerves, the bell went and Mr. Walker walked in carrying his bag filled with binders and classwork.

After Mr. Walker explained the course and expectations in detail, he gave us the rest of the class to do whatever we wanted. Of course, like what Amanda said, I was a nobody therefore I didn't have any friends in this class so I was just going to plug my earphones in and drown out the loud talking from the rest of the class but before I could reach for my earphones, Cameron turned to me and asked me what my next class was.
"I have physical education with Mr. Clasen." I roll my eyes mentally. I hate gym class because I'm definitely not talented when it comes to sport.
"Well would you look at that, I do too. Guess I'll be seeing you quite a lot in the morning." He replied back and winked at me.
This just keeps getting better! Now Cameron gets to see me fail during gym class. That will definitely make him laugh at me like everyone else that has been in my gym class. The bell finally went signaling that it was time for break so I quickly picked up my books so I could get out of the horrible classroom to find Sam. Before I could get out the door, Cameron said, "See you in gym, Cassandra." and smiled at me while walking past me and out the door.

Sam rushed towards my locker while I was putting my books away and before I could even say hello she rushed through her rant, "I'm so sorry I couldn't get to school earlier to meet you, but have you heard? Apparently there's this new hot guy in our grade! I haven't seen him him yet but..." Before she could go into detail about Cameron, I interrupted her and told her about my morning with him.
"Are you serious right now?! You are so lucky! I bet Amanda was super mad, I would have killed to see her face." Sam started laughing after I finished telling her everything.
"Hey guys. What's up with Sam?" Nick looked over to see Sam hunched over laughing against my locker when he approached us.
Nick and I have been best friends since we were born because both our parents were friends back in University which means Nick and I were pretty much always together. He was one of the few people who understands me and has always been there for me. We became friends with Sam when she moved to Haltwood, Washington with her family in fourth grade. Nick is also pretty strong since he's a football player, but he isn't just a jock. Since he's also really smart, the school has labeled him half jock and half nerd, if that makes any sense. Since he's considered a 'nerd' he isn't too popular and I also do not need to worry about Amanda making him her next target.
"Nothing I'm fine." Sam answered trying very hard to stop laughing.
"How was your family trip to Hawaii over the summer?" I asked Nick.
Sam and I haven't seen Nick since the last day of school before summer break because he was in Hawaii with his family for his cousin's wedding.
"It was great! I got you something while I was there too." He took off his backpack and reached inside to bring out a lovely white flower hair clip that people wear in Hawaii.
"Wow thanks Nick, it's beautiful." I smiled at him when he put the flower in my hand.
"It's no big deal." He smiled back and scratched the back of his head.
"Hey what about me? Did you get me something?" Sam asked Nick with mock hurt.
Nick looked back to Sam and laughed, "Yes Sam, I didn't forget about you." He rolled his eyes and gave her a seashell necklace.
"Thanks Nick, I can't wait to wear seashells around town while Cassy here gets to have a pretty flower in her hair." Sam said sarcastically. "Kidding! Thanks Nick, it's really great."
"Yeah whatever Sam." Nick went on telling us about Hawaii until the bell went for second period.
The good thing is that both Sam and Nick are in my gym class, what isn't great is that I'm terrible at sports and Cameron will have a front row seat to see me mess up. I'm not even sure why I care what he thinks though. I've never really cared what anyone else thought of me, but maybe that was because no guy has ever bothered to acknowledge me. Nick doesn't count because he's my closest friend and we've known each other for literally forever. While I was changing for class, I told myself that I should just ignore the fact that Cameron is in the class and that I shouldn't be so interested in him. Once I finished changing and tied my hair into a neat ponytail, I opened the door of the change room and entered the gym. Here goes nothing.
