Chapter 41
"Alright Robins, do any of you have a plan?" You asked. Red Hood shook his head while reloading his gun, Nightwing had a blank expression on his face and Red Robin smirked while he opened up his holographic computer.
"Of course I have a plan. I've isolated the signal coming from the microchips implanted in Damian's bloodstream, he is currently not far from here. But the problem is: from what these chips are telling me Damian has some sort of drug in him. It's not one I've ever encountered before, we don't know what state he will be in even if we do get to him without getting our throats slit, which, by the way, is almost inevitable as we have hundreds of highly trained assassins trying to murder us." Red Robin explained.
"Your plan sounds pretty shit to me. I say we go in there, giving every bad guy a bullet between the eyes," Red Hood replied. Nightwing and Red Robin just glared at him and the focused back on the original plan.
"Stop being so pessimistic Timmy, everything's going to be fine, we're not going to die, plus there's four of us now." Nightwing cheerfully replied.
"Only codenames in the field please, Nightwing."
"Everyone here knows who we are. Plus Dickie-Bird's right we're not gonna die cus you've got me. And if it isn't already obvious to you I'm fucking awesome." And with that Red Hood just walked off.
"Um... Jay, where do you think you're going?" Nightwing called out to him, the room was still moderately foggy from the tear gas and Jason had just disappeared.
"Ugh, I knew bringing Jason was a bad idea, he's a loose cannon and now he's just going to get us all killed," Tim complained as he opened up a diagram he had drawn of the layout of Nanda Parbat. "Anyway, Damian's this way," he led the way and you and Nightwing followed close behind.
To your surprise, you didn't get attacked by as many ninjas as expected on the way, and the ones that did try were quickly knocked out cold. After what seemed like an eternity of winding through endless stone passageways, the three of you were now at the entrance of a large room. You could hear voices quietly murmuring to each other but you couldn't make out any words. You couldn't see much from where you were perched, you didn't want to draw any unwanted attention but what you could see was a row of assassins. However these assassins weren't like any of the ones you had ever encountered before, they were almost double the size.
"What are they?" You whispered to Red Robin and Nightwing hoping for some sort of idea on what you were up against.
"They are Talia's latest experiment to make the 'ultimate warrior'." A voice whispered back from behind you. You turned around to be face to shiny red helmet with Jason. "I've been here for like an hour waiting for all of you. I also took out most the crazy ass ninjas for you!"
"What else do you know Jason?" Tim asked with a slightly agitated tone in his voice.
"Oh, so Mr I-Know-Everything needs my wisdom now?"
"No, I-"
"Guys quit it! We're here to get Damian, not argue over who's the smartest. Jason- if you know anything else about these 'warriors' now would be a great time to share that information." You loudly whispered but it was still quiet enough so you weren't heard by anyone else.
"Fine. From what I've seen there's a hell of a lot of these guys and they're also crazy strong. But, like in every evil mastermind's plan to take over the world, there's a flaw. These guys are dumb, like even dumber than Dick and that's saying something."
Dick punched him in the arm, "I'm not the one who licked the giant penny in the Batcave and got sick for a week."
"Didn't even hurt," Jason said rubbing the place on his arm that had just been punched.
"You want pain? How about 50,000 volts through that thick skull of yours?!"
"How about a bullet to your as- "
"Shut up! Both of you!" Tim almost screamed at them, which unfortunately was very loud and had defiantly been heard by someone or something from the inside of the other room.
"Great, now look what you've done!" Jason hissed at Tim as an army of ninjas on steroids marched towards where you all were.
"Remember, we just need to outsmart them," Dick told you all and ran towards the warriors with his escrima sticks charged. Jason started shooting but the bullets flew off their bodies without them even flinching. Tim tried attacking one but his punches were useless, so instead, he just dodged all the heavy punches coming from one of the assassins.
As one charged towards you, you knew it would be no use to try to cause any damage so when he got close enough, you quickly dodged his attack and the assassin ran straight into the wall, knocking himself out. 'One down about fifty more to go.' You thought to yourself as another tried attacking you, you dodged the attacks and led it to the one Tim was fighting, when you were close enough you ducked down quickly, evading a hard punch which instead landed on the other assassin, that led to them both lying motionless on the ground.
You carried on with these methods for a while and you were down to the last ten. And just as you dodged yet another attack, out of the corner of your eye you saw Talia, she was shouting at a man in a lab coat, next to them was some sort of stone bed. And on that bed, you saw Damian.
As fast as you could, you sprinted towards him. He was still a few hundred metres away and now the man in the lab coat had taken out a needle and was hurriedly trying to prepare it. You quickly took out a birdarang (that you had stolen from the Batcave before you left) and threw it, aiming for the needle. However, you missed by pretty far but it did distract the man for a few seconds. And a few seconds was all you needed, you kicked the needle out of his hands and gave him a hard punch in the face, which knocked him out cold. You quickly looked over Damian's still body, his chest was rising up and down, he was just unconscious.
There was a needle in his arm, however. Just as you tried to pull it out, you felt someone tightly grab your body, and the familiar feel of cold metal against your throat greeted you.
"Leave my son alone and out of respect for his feelings towards you, I might consider sparing your life." It was Talia, she seemed pretty pissed off.
Because you had been in this position before, you were prepared for what to do. As a fellow woman you knew where her most vulnerable part was, so as hard as you could, you elbowed her in the boob. Her grip loosened and you used that opportunity to get yourself free and punch the cold-hearted bitch in the face. She fell to the ground, with a face full of blood.
You quickly returned your attention back to Damian and this time you successfully took the needle out from his arm and after a few minutes, his eyes fluttered open.
"Hey," you smiled as you saw his gorgeous green eyes come to life.
"(Y/N)," he faintly whispered and returned the smile. "You came for me?"
"Of course, Damian. I couldn't let your mother turn you into someone you didn't want to be."
Damian suddenly jolted upright, "Mother! She told me she was going to turn me into some sort of monster. After all her other experiments had failed. What has she done to me? Where is she?"
"She's not done anything to you, you've only been put to sleep. And she's down there." You pointed to the ground where Talia was lying.
"As much as I despise my mother, I can't kill her. Can we just go home before I change my mind?"
"Yeah, of course, let's get the others." You kissed his cheek and helped him up.
"Others? Who are the others?" Damian questioned.
"The other Robins, I couldn't have done this without them."
"Damn right you couldn't!" Jason said as you approached them. Tim had been collecting blood samples from the assassins and Dick gave Damian the tightest hug you had ever seen.
"I'm so happy you're ok Little D!"
"This is unnecessary Grayson."
"Sssshhhh. Let me enjoy my hug."
"Come on guys, you can hug later let's just get out of here," Tim complained.
Damian wiggled his way out of Dick's tight embrace and laced his fingers with yours as the five of you made your way home.
