Chapter Eight

I got up with no memory of getting in bed or in the room. I looked to my side and found the bed empty.

I jumped out of bed and walked towards the shower and heard the water running. I guess Gerald was in the shower.

I wonder how I got up here. Or maybe he carried me up here? Yeah probably. I felt a weird tingling feeling when I thought about him carrying me in his arms.

My stomach churned when I thought about that stupid dinner tonight. I really hope it goes well so I can get my car back and get revenge on Jessica the bitch.

I walked over to his bed and sat down doing nothing in particular until he came out.

"Good morning, beautiful." He said walking out of the bathroom with nothing but a towel wrapped on his waist, his hair and chest was wet. Fuck, he looks hot! I thought feeling a little turned on.

"My name is Victoria! I hate nicknames and you know that!" I glared at him.

"You're so mean." He said, smirking. I looked at his body and felt my heart rate pick up, his abs were perfectly sculpted and all I wanted to do was run my fingers all over him.

"Gerald, stop being a caveman and put some fucking clothes on." I said feeling annoyed at the way I was feeling.

"Why? Am I making you horny?" He said stepping towards me, with that annoying, sexy smirk on his face.

Yes. "In your wildest dreams." I lied.

"You need to learn to stop lying to yourself, Victoria."

By now he was standing so close to me I could feel his minty breath fan against my face.

"I don't need to learn anything, Gerald."

He smirked and gently placed his lips onto mine. His kisses were soft and gentle.

We broke apart and I kissed his neck, then walked away.

"Just walk away and leave me alone?" He said pretending to be hurt.

"If you've forgotten, today is Monday and we have to attend 'hell'."

"We could skip and get up to no good." He smirked mischievously.

"You're such a pervert, do you know that?" I laughed while getting ready to shower.

"The same pervert that you can't stop checking out." He winked.

"Whatever makes you sleep at night." I rolled my eyes, "now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to shower."

"Can I join you?"

"Pervert!" I yelled shutting the door blocking out his laugher.

I loved the way he just got rid of that horrible pit in my stomach, when I was with him it was like I forgot all my problems in this world.

After I showered, dressed, combed my hair and put a little makeup on I walked downstairs ready for school.

"I'm ready." I told Gerald who was leaning against the counter on his phone.

"Don't you wanna eat something?"

Honestly I really didn't feel like eating, I was dreading the day that I was about to face and I really didn't have much of an appetite.

"I'm really not that hungry, I'll eat at lunch one time."

He raised his brows,"Are you sure? I mean you didn't even eat dinner last night."

"Yes, I'm fine," I assured, "now let's go we're already late. I need to tell Ash about this whole revenge plan thing."

"At lease just have something? Like a cereal bar or something? You can even eat that in the car." He insisted.

I sighed,"Okay fine, I'll have a cereal bar then." I walked over to the pantry and grabbed a cereal bar and left the house while Gerald followed closely behind.

School was eventually done with, but I had to unfortunately wait for Gerald who had practice today.

At lunch I explained the whole story to Ashley who seemed pleased with it. I had to explain it to her away from everyone else, because I honestly didn't want Robert to hear the whole story, sure he was my friend but I wasn't that close to him to open up. In fact he didn't even know that I was staying with Gerald.

Just as I was making my way to the bleachers to wait for Gerald, I saw Nate heading towards me.

"Hello again, Sunshine." He greeted brightly.

"What do you want again?" I rolled my eyes.

"I just wanted to say good luck for tonight."

I smiled feeling happy that he thought to tell me that,"Thank you."

"Wow she smiles." He joked.

"Shut up, or I will make sure you never have babies." I warned.

"Calm down feisty pants."

"Shouldn't coach be going berserk wondering where you are?" I raised a brow.

"Yeah I should really get going," he said starting to walk away until he paused, "oh and I suggest you keep that temper under control tonight, wouldn't want to mess anything up, Sunshine."

He started to walk away again but this time I stopped him.

"Nate!" I called after him.

"Yeah?"

"Thank you. Not just for your advice but for everything." I smiled at him genuinely.

"Yeah, of course." He returned the smile and walked away, his beautiful brown eyes sparkling in the sunlight.

Why am I thinking about his eyes?! I thought annoyed.

Gerald was finally done with practice and it was finally time to leave.

"Nervous about tonight?" Gerald asked while he was driving us back home.

"Nope." I lied, honestly I was a little nervous.

The rest of the car ride was quiet and when we reached home I had about two hours before my hell dinner.

****

It was now 5:45 and I had about fifteen minutes to get ready. I looked through my clothes for something to wear.

"Maybe I should wear a dress?" I mused.

I really didn't feel like wearing a little girly dress, but my brother hates my usual edgy girl attire and the last dinner we had he specifically told me to wear something girly.

"Fuck him! I can wear what I want."

I chose a pair of black ripped jeans, with a black cropped top that showed off a bit of my stomach and I matched them with high heeled ankle boots.

I walked downstairs ready to leave and decided to say bye to Gerald.

I walked into the living room and found him with his legs outstretched on the couch, on his phone.

"I'm leaving now." I announced. He got up and walked towards me.

"How are you going to get there exactly?" He raised his brows.

"I'll get a cab. Did you know those things still exist?" I said sarcastically.

"Do you want me to drop you off?"

"No, I am perfectly fine with a cab."

"Are you sure?"

I smiled assuringly at him, "Yes I'm sure."

He wrapped his arms around me and I hugged him back.

"Okay, be careful when you're out alone. I know you can handle yourself but I'm always concerned, you know that." He said with his arms still wrapped around me and kissed the top of my head.

"Okay I will." I said as we pulled apart.

"Text me when you reach and call me if you need anything, anything at all."

"Relax Gerald, I will." I rolled my eyes at him.

He kissed my forehead and led me out the house.

After catching a cab and telling the driver where to take me, here I was standing outside the front door of Jessica's apartment. Oh and I was late as usual.

I rang the bell and waited for the door to open.

Michael opened the door, "Hello Victoria." He said nonchalantly.

"Michael." I said in the same tone and walked in without him saying so because I honestly didn't care.

"Guess I don't have to invite you in then." He murmured.

I smirked, "Nope, because I'm not a vampire." Doubt he understood that.

The apartment was not that bad looking, it was cozy but not as plush and fancy as I'd like. Guess I like the rich life too much.

"Hello Victoria." Jessica smiled sweetly at me. Fake bitch!

"Hello Jessica, how are you?" I smiled back just as sweetly and fake.

"I am good thanks and you?"

"Great!" I had to bite my tongue to stop myself from saying, 'oh I've been fine, just away from my home and fucking car.'

"Victoria, I believe there was something you wanted to say?" Michael raised his brows gesturing for me to apologise.

I took a deep breath to stop myself from snapping. "Yes. I am sorry to the both of you for what happened that night at dinner. I acted rudely and I hope that the both of you can forgive me."

"Oh, sweetie of course we can." Jessica said too cheerily. Can you get anymore fake?! I thought grimly.

Michael grinned, "Great now that we got that out of the way, how about some dinner? I'm starving."

"Let me go and fetch the dinner." Jessica said getting up.

"Victoria go and help Jessica." Michael said.

I wanted to yell at him and say that I'm not his fucking slave but once again I bit tongue and just nodded.

I walked into her small kitchen. Okay maybe it wasn't small but compared to mine and my friends, it looked tiny.

"Here you can take the casserole while I bring the others."

"Did you prepare this?" I asked.

"Yes I did." She smiled.

Oh crap! She probably poisoned this.

I walked back to the small dining room and placed the casserole onto the table and took my seat back.

We were eating dinner, Jessica and Michael chatted among themselves while I ate quietly.

"So Victoria, how was your stay with Ashley?" Michael asked me.

My fists automatically clenched when I heard him mention Ashley. He fucking hit her and he still has the audacity to ask about her?! He has some fucking nerve.

I took a deep breath and calmed myself, "Was? So I can get back home?"

"Yes you can, Victoria." He smiled. I was pleased to hear that, I mean I could finally go back home. I still wanted to beat the crap out of him for hitting Ashley though.

"Great! Finally I can get back home." I said triumphantly to myself.

"Well it was your fault that you weren't at home in the first place, Victoria." Jessica said and I wanted to kill the fucking bitch, but once again I tried my best to remain calm and ignored her statement.

The rest of the meal was quiet. It was dessert time and the fake bitch Jessica once again asked for my help in the kitchen. For fucks sake I don't even work at my kitchen at my own house.

"So what's for dessert?" I asked as I walked back into her small kitchen.

"Well Michael told me that your favourite was Red Velvet cake so I baked that and I thought we could have some tea." She said a little too sweetly.

Eww tea! I hate tea. I thought grimly.

"Uhh I don't drink tea."

"Oh that's a pity! Just as well I baked your favourite cake."

Actually my favourite dessert was pudding and my favourite cake was carrot cake not red velvet, but whatever.

"You can prepare the tea while I cut up the cake." She said pointing towards the boiler.

How the fuck do you even make tea?

Anyway, I assumed from movies and TV series that it involved pouring the hot water into the tea cups and dipping the tea bag in.

I had the boiler in my hand with the hot water inside and was about to pour the water in the cups when Jessica bumped my hand and the boiling hot water fell onto my hand.

"Ouch!" I exclaimed. I felt my skin burning where the water fell, my skin was red.

Jessica had a smirk on her face but quickly covered it up with a fake look of concern.

"Oh my god! Are you alright?" She touched the burn making it hurt even more.

"Did no one ever tell you not to touch a wound?!" I yelled.

"Oh my god! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to."

I could feel my anger rising so I just walked out of the kitchen.

"What's wrong?"Michael asked as I walked into the dinning room.

"I'm going home." I said grabbing my leather jacket with my good hand.

"What happened to your hand?" He said and walked over to me.

Your fucking girlfriend dropped hot water on me, that's what happened.

"Hot water fell on my hand."

"Shit, that looks bad. Let me get a first aid kit. I'll be back." He said about to walk away but I stopped him.

"Michael no, I really wanna go home. We can bandage it up at home." I said really wanting to get away from here.

"Victoria, it looks really bad. It won't take that long."

"Please Michael. I really wanna go home, I've been away for days." I pleaded. Yes I pleaded, I was that desperate to get away from here.

His eyes softened for a moment and he nodded. I faintly smiled at him and made my way to the door.

"Wait! I just wanna let Jess know I'm leaving." Just as he said that she walked into the room.

"What? You're leaving?" She said shrilly.

"Yeah Jess we're leaving, Victoria got burned and she really wants to go home." He said running his hands through his hair.

"But you haven't even had dessert!"

"Another time, love." He said and pecked her on the lips while she glared at me.

"Fine. I'll see you tomorrow." She said with a sigh.

"See you." He said and walked out with me following closely.

The car ride home was silent.

As soon as I walked back inside my house I let out a sigh of relief. Home sweet home!

"Come on, let's go and bandage your wound." He gestured for me to follow him to the kitchen.

I followed him to the kitchen and sat down.

He grabbed my hand and cleaned the wound, then applied an ointment, I cringed at the pain but ignored it. Lastly he wrapped the bandage around the wound, the pain was starting to slow down.

"Apply this ointment onto your wound everyday until it heals, okay?" He said passing me the tube. I nodded at him.

"Good." He smiled at me.

"You can go up to bed, you look extremely tired." He said getting up.

"Okay. Goodnight." I said and made my way upstairs.

"Damn it feels to be back home." I said relieved to myself as I walked into my room.

I walked over to my closet and grabbed a sweater to sleep in. Thank god Ashley didn't bring my whole closet.

I texted Nate, Ashley and Gerald to let them know I was back home.

Gerald was the first to reply,

Gerald: Glad it worked out. :) You can come pick your stuff from my house after school tomorrow.

Me: Yeah I'll see you tomorrow then! :)

Gerald: See you tomorrow, Victoria ;)

I put my phone down on my pedestal which was next to my bed, got comfy under my covers and grabbed the TV remote just as my phone buzzed again.

Ashley: Finally! :D Now I can see you without seeing that dumbass.

I laughed at my crazy best friend.

Me: Oh please, he's not that bad, he is hot and you know that. ;)

Ashley: Jessie is way better!

Me: That's because someone has a little crush on Jessie ;)

Ashley: Jessie is sweet, okay! Something Gerald is not!

Me: Good point! Anyway I'll see you tomorrow, Ash :)

Ashley: See you, Victoria! :)

I locked my phone and decided to watch a little TV.

After about one and a half hours of TV, I felt my eyelids getting heavier and heavier. I turned off my TV and looked at my phone to see if I had any texts.

I looked and seen nothing. How rude of Nate! I sent him a text and he didn't even bother to reply?!

"Jerk!" I muttered to myself.

I put my phone back on my pedestal and went to sleep.

Maybe he just didn't see the text? Doubt it, everyone of this generation in stuck on their phones 24/7. Or maybe he's hooking up with a girl? But on a Monday?

I shook my thoughts away and shut my eyes.
After what felt like 5 minutes of sleep, I heard a buzzing.

I shot my eyes open at the sound and looked around to see where it was coming from. I looked at my pedestal and seen my phone buzzing.

I grabbed it and the call just ended.

I pressed the button on the side to unlock my phone just as it started to ring again.

'Nate' flashed on my phone screen.

"What the fuck do you want at-" I paused to look at the time,"1 am?"

"Hello to you too, Beautiful."

"Oh so you can speak now? I sent you a text about four hours ago and you haven't even had the decency of just saying an 'okay' or a smiley face?" I yelled at the phone.

"I'm sorry I didn't reply, I have an explanation." He said sincerely.

"Oh and what is your explanation?" I raised a brow even though he couldn't see me.

"Victoria, my parents are back home so I was a bit occupied." He said bitterly and emphasise on the 'occupied'. "I only seen your text now, sweetheart." He said apologetically.

I instantly softened when he said that his parents were home. Damn, I'm such a bitch!

"Is everything alright?" I asked him concerned.

"Just the usual." He sighed.

"Wanna talk about it?"

"Stop worrying your pretty little head about me, Sunshine." He chuckled humourlessly.

"First of all my head is not pretty, that's just weird, second of all I can worry about whoever I want to whenever I want to." I rolled my eyes at him.

Of course he was doing what I do best, which is blocking people out.

"Sweetheart, everything of yours is pretty. Except your face, that is just pure perfection and beauty, it's like God took his sweet, sweet time making you." I felt the blood rush up to my cheeks at his statement.

Was I fucking blushing?! I never, ever blush. I think the last time I blushed was when I was in kindergarten.

"The last I checked we were talking about you and not me or my face or head or whatever." I said irritably.

"The last I checked I called you to talk about you and your night." I could just picture that annoying yet hot smirk on his face. Wait since when did I think his smirk was hot? I must be really tired.

"Nate I'm serious, don't block me out. Tell me whatever is troubling you." I said seriously.

"Relax Victoria, nothing is troubling me. I promise." He said but I knew him well enough to know that somethings was troubling him, I could hear it in his voice.

"Whatever I guess I'm just not that important for you to confide in, I'm just another, normal girl who you would fuck with and leave the next morning." I said angrily. I was feeling really pissed off at him, all I wanna do is make sure he's okay but he's just pushing me away.

He took a deep breath."Victoria, you know that's not true, you and my sister are the only two people in this world that I care about. It's just that I've had a shitty day and I really just don't want to talk or even think about it. I called you hoping to get my mind off today's fucked up events and not to go back and talk about it. You know what it's like when your day is that bad that you don't even wanna think about it so I thought you would understand. If I ever wanna talk about something I know that you're there and I will confide in you and do the complete opposite of pushing you away."

I softened at his words and realised that I was too hard on him.

"I'm sorry, I was too hard on you I guess." I muttered sheepishly.

"Since when do you apologise?" He chortled.

"Shut up!" I scowled.

"So how was your dinner that you were oh so looking forward to?"

"Horrible. Jessica is such a fake little bitch. I don't know how many times I had to resist myself from punching her in the face." I said feeling annoyed just thinking of her.

"Well I'm glad that you kept your very, very short temper under control." He chuckled.

"Me too. If I never I wouldn't have been in my extremely comfy bed."

"What did she serve for dinner?" He asked casually.

"Chicken casserole and Victoria's favourite dessert, red velvet cake and tea." I imitated her annoying, shrill voice.

"I thought your favourite dessert was chocolate pudding? And I also thought you hated tea?"

"Well according to Michael and Jessica I love it." I rolled my eyes.

"So did you help her in the kitchen? Most women always ask other women to help them in the kitchen, it's weird."

"Yeah she asked me to make tea like I know how the fuck to do that. Anyway so here I was about to pour the boiling, hot water into the cups until she purposely bumped into me and burned my hand."

"What the fuck? She burned you? Who the fuck does she think she is to burn you?" He said, his tone rising.

"Well she said it was a mistake." I said trying to calm him down.

"Please, we both know it was fucking intentionally."

"Well we are going to make her pay for what she did." I smirked.

"Oh and I am going to make the bitch pays for that."

"How bad is the burn?" He added.

"It's not that bad, it barely even hurts." I lied because it honestly hurt like a bitch and the burn was pretty bad.

"Sounds like you're lying to me." He said suspiciously.

"I am most definitely not lying." I said defensively.

"Well if it hurts you I'm going to go over to bitch Jessica and beat the living crap out of her."

"I thought gentlemen don't hit woman?" I raised a brow.

"Who said I was a gentleman, Sunshine?"

"Well I guess I thought wrong then."

"I'm serious though, no one has the right to hurt you in any way whatsoever." He said seriously.

"Seriously, what is it with you and Gerald that always say things like that?" I rolled my eyes.

"It's because I care, Victoria." He said softly.

I smiled it myself at his words and felt all warm inside.

"So do I."

"Do you know that it's like 3 am?" He asked sounding a little shocked at the time.

I moved the phone from my ear and glanced at the time.

"You know I could've been fast asleep if you didn't disturb me."

"Well I'll still be in your dreams." He teasingly said.

"Yeah I'll be murdering you in my dream." I rolled my eyes at him.

"Ouch, that's cold."

I felt myself getting sleepier and sleepier.

"I'm a cold person." I said and yawned.

"No you're not, you just show the world that you're cold but I know that inside you're the complete opposite of what you show to the world." He said softly.

"I'm like the furthest from nice to you." I said trying to keep my eyelids open.

I didn't even hear his reply because the next thing I knew my eyelids were closed.

"Victoria? Wake up!" I heard someone say.

I opened my eyes and realised I was still on the phone with Nate.

"Damn! Did I fall asleep?" I asked and rubbed my eyes.

He laughed, "Yes you did."

"How long was I asleep for?"

"About two or three minutes." He chuckled.

"Sorry, I'm just really tired." I said and yawned.

"I think you should go to sleep. Goodnight beautiful."

"Goodnight Nathaniel." I said and ended the call.

I put my phone away and closed my eyes with a smile on my face because of my conversation with Nate.
