Reunited with Haru, Elijah tries to settle into his new life with the family he thought he'd never find. But Maverick and Ysmay were still out there, and they were hunting for him. Lyca Corp. needed him to continue their twisted, illegal work, and he knew that they'd stop at nothing to find him and the children he freed from their labs.

When an army of chimaeras attacks one of his family's businesses, Elijah realizes the true purpose of Lyca Corp.'s experiments: they were attempting to create an army for the Diabolus, an army purposed to destroy his family and everything they had built. Desperate to do whatever necessary to ensure the safety of his family and the man he loves, Elijah sets out to destroy the army and prevent Lyca Corp. from ever creating any more monsters.

However, with half of his power missing, Elijah isn't capable of his mission alone. He reluctantly accepts the help of Zoe, Jake, and August, along with his brusque cousin, Lucian. Together, they hunt down Elijah's stolen power, but the deeper into enemy territory they wander, the more they uncover the truth about Elijah's existence and why the Diabolus have targeted his family.
