Chapter Four

hey guys chapter 5. hope you like it. comment, like, vote ect....

*****************

By lunch I was tired.

In every class we had heared the same spill-- 'This year is hard. We expect hard work all the time. You're adults, so we will treate you as such"

Blah Blah Blah.

It was all the same: the teachers would give the BIG talk about how hard this year would be and how they would only take the best, but by the second six weeks it would be like it was every year. Lazy students and lazy teachers.

My schedule was thus far: AP Bio, AP Music Theory, AP Psych, and Calculus (my only on-level class), math and I just don't mix well no matter how hard I study and try.

I was in my regular spot in the corner of the cafeteria at the lone table farthest from the center table where Lauren and her crew sat laughing electrionically at some dumb jocks attempt at a joke.

I huffed out an exacterated breath and sighed shaking my head at her silliness. What draws people to long for popularity so much that they drive out their true friends for plastic, fake hominoids, I will never know. Perhaps I will study how the desire for popularity destroys the mind cells and leaves smart humans empty zombies, should be an intresting thesis. Humm.

I was immersied in my thoughts so deep that I jumped when I heard a deep voice.

"Long day huh?"

I looked up to see Caleb joining me at the table and taking a seat.

"OH yeah! I can not wait to get home and out of here." I repilied huffing.

He laughed. "So what do you plan on doing after school?"

I looked up from my lunch of homemade turkey sandwhich and cholachlate milk and into his greenish brown eyes and sighed.

"I don't know Caleb-"

"I know what we're gunna do even if she doesn't"

"Yeah we're gunna have fun!"

Caleb and I shared a knowing look before we were joined by the last two members of our gang, Becca and Jessie. Formally known as the 'party girls.' They were the hyper ones who loved a good time and were always searching for the best party.

I really don't know how they made our group a foursome our freshman year with Caleb and I being so as they said "un-fun and party poopers" but they did and they made our group fun and added an edge that well rounded us out.

Then when Caleb thought he would forever be stuck alone with three girls, half-way through our sophomore year the fifth member of our group joined us, Caleb's best friend, (second to me off corse), Joshua. Which completed our group. But more on him later.

Jessie and Becca were my best girl friends and I really didn't know what I would do without them but sometimes, they were a bit much and kinda scared me. Like now for instance.

Becca was sporting her normal first day of school attire of a pale pink tank top shirt covered by a white camisal and just above the knee blue skirt and her singnature two inch scuffed brown bumps that clearly showed their age. I don't know why she just didn't get a new pair, she could easily afford them but she insted on the old pair because they were lucky. Whatever.

Jessie, was the slightly calmer of the pair and was wearing a purple v'neck shirt and black skirt with simple black ballet flats. Her almost waist lenght jet black hair was gently curled at the ends and gave her an almost princess look.

They were the ones who got me out of my usual boring t-s, genes, and tenis shoes into a more femine look and even taught me to put on make up properly after my failed attempt my freshman year. (Do not ask. It's too embarrassing to tell. But lets just say I looked like a clown. But instead of laughing like everyone else they took me into the bathroom and fixed me up to look like a stunning beauty and our friendship was born.

"Uh huh, you got that right Becca" Jessie laughed, "Fun."

"Hey guys what's up?" Caleb asked them as they took their seats at the table with us.

"Oh you know the same: lame teachers, boring lectures, and stupid queen bee bitches." Becca replied.

They were in mostly on-level classes so they had to put up with Lauren more than I did in an all AP class schedule.

"Ha ha " I laughed. "I know that! I barley got into the school before she pounced. I'm soo glad this is our last year. I don't know if I could take another year of her crap."

Caleb shot me a scared look, eyes wide and round, "What do you mean Cor?" Ever since the summer when I began to recieve letters from top ranked Colleges he'd been behaving strangly when ever I would mentchen that this is our last year. I don't what's wrong with him. But I let it go.

"Just that this is our senior year, our last year of high school. After this year we will Never have to deal with her bitchyness agian!" I clarified confused at his response but strugging it off to last year jitters.

"Oh hey I haven't seen Josh yet, do any of y'all know where he is?" Becca asked.

I thought about it for a minuet, "you know I haven't, Caleb do you know where he is?" I asked concerned. Josh was my friend, we might not be as close as Caleb and I, or even Jess and Becca and I, but still my friend none the less.

"Yeah he's sick so he won't be back till next week."

"Oh that sucks, he's missing a lot of stuff. I hope he feels better. I'll call him after school to check up on him." I replied.

"Sick!? Are you kidding me! That bastard is at home while we're all here being tortured by evil teachers and psychotic bitches? That lucky bastard." Jessie wailed.

"Hey he can't help it if he's sick so be nice," I chastised her.

"Whatever." she moaned then caught sight of my expression and said, "Alright."

"Okay," Caleb stated clearly ending that conversation. "What did you really mean Cora?"

I chose to injnore him. I was so excited to be graduating, not only would I be going to a top ranked ivy leage college I would be free of Lauren forever! After ten years of putting up with her teasing, laughing, the jeering snears and the whispered remarks of rumers that she enjoyed spreading I was soo happy to be leaving and couldn't wait for May to come around.

Not that I was happy about leaving my friends. No that was the only problem with my plan neither Becca nor Jessie had the grades that Harvard or Yale or Princeton or Georgetown requied, and Caleb's parent's didn't want him going to an ivy league school because they were afarid of the pressure it would put on him.

I was terrified to leave Jessie, Becca, Joshua, and expessally Caleb but I knew that an ivy league educatuation would be the only thing to get me anywhere in the world. So I knew I had to go to one of them no matter what. Even if that meant leaving the comfort of home and the protction that Caleb offered.

I had to be my own person and this was the only way I knew how. Ir was the painful truth but it had to be done.

"So off that talk, how are y'alls classes so far?" I asked refusing to give Lauren any more attention.

"Well, English 4 is a bore, everyone in there it seems doesn't know the difference between a simlie and a metaphor so the teacher spent most of the time detailing the difference while the class texting or slept." Becca winned.

"And marine biology is just a blow off class with no actual work." Jessie continued.

"Computer science is full of immature freshman."

"And don't EVEN get me started on U.S. Government." Jessie huffed. "That man is insine! I swear." She shouted waving her hands accenting her angst. "He ate a staple. A staple! In the middle of class. It was aweful!!" She shuttered at the memory.

I had heard about the U.S Gov teacher so I opted to take both US Gov and Economics over the summer at the local university so save me time and free up my schedule for classes I actually wanted to take.

But both Jessie and Becca had stuck to the normal high school plan for graduation and therefore were trapped in boring and meaningless classes. Somehow they always ended up in the same ones miraculassly. But at least they had each other and me to toutor them if the need be.

"Ha ha well if you hadn't waited till you're senior year to take these required classes then you wouldn't be here and would have to be in freshmen classes." I scolded them. "I warned you that you should take those classes early on and maybe some during summer school, then you would have this problem. But you did your own thing so you have no one to blame but yourselves." I said pointingly then taking a swing of milk.

"You never miss an I told you so do you?" Jessie mumbled.

"Nope, I never do." I smirked.

"So miss smarty pants since you know everything, what are the Federalist Papers?" Becca asked reaching for a stack of papers that suspisally looked like homework.

I raised my eyebrows at her nodding to the papers giving her a disaproving look. I admit it I help them out alot. Their my friends so it's intitled. But giving them straight answers? No way. I won't do that. It's wrong and cheating and I am extremely against cheating. And they know that.

"You'll have to look that up hunny child. I won't give you straight answers and you know that. Come see me after you do some reasurch and then I'll be glad to clear up anything that you find obscure. Kay?" I said as I stood up to throw away my trash.

"Awwww! Come on Cora pleaseee!!!!" Becca pleaded folding her hands together begging.

"Nope, you know my rules. Sorry." I stated walking away heading to the front of the cafeteria. When something strange caught my eye. But as soon as I glanced again it was gone. What on earth? Something shimmery and sparkely and vaguley familiar. Like in a dream. But I couldn't place it no matter how hard I tried to remember.

I shoke myself at the siliyness. First the dream, then the note, no I'm seeing things. I must be going crazy.

"Fine." Becca pouted bringing me back to reality. "Caleb, do you know what the federalist papers are?" She wined.

"Ha ha nope I do not Rebecca, but if you find out please let me know." Caleb answered.

She was about to resort but at that moment the bell rang dismissing us from lunch and to sixth period.

"Well, I believe that was the bell. What do they say? Saved by the bell? See ya'll later!" I called as I quickly took my exit. Pheww. That was a close one, if that bell didn't happen to ring then I don't know what I would have done.

Oh well it's over now, and hopefully they won't ask again.

I slowed down to a walk and calmed my breathing down to appear less frantic. What was happening to me?
