"I can't hold it in any longer. I've been having nightmares...I had to tell you guys."

"What are you talking about? How are you so sure of that?" Chang asked.

"He literally said it! Not literally, though. Like..." He turned to look at me.

"The time in the car, when he told us about the dream he had. It sounded so real and true. I doubted it was a dream. I even saw the glow of a purple light in his eyes–"

"Wait. Hold up, can you tell us more about this dream?" Alexis asked.

Trevor narrated it the best he could.
They all stood and listened attentively till he finished.

"Wow. Old cottage? Flashing purple lights? This makes so much sense..." Chang muttered.

"I've seen him in my dreams as well." Trevor stuffed his hands into his hoodie pockets.

"What did you see?" Alexis asked.

"I'd see Auda's face then I'd see my dad's replacing it. It's like he's telling me..."

I was still speechless.
"But dad? How?"

"I dunno Tanya, I'm not even sure but it's so ...I don't know."

I stared at him solemnly.

"Well he hasn't been around for while," I mused.

"It's normal for him to leave for a while but...man I don't know," Trevor said.

"I'm so sorry guys. That must be horrible...if it's true," Maddie said, "but even if he is, how does that help us?"

"True," Chang admitted. "The problem here is that he is your father and that's really horrible. But he was bound to be in someone's body so nothing much changes... But that is bad. It means he's closer than we think."

"But if he is and he comes back then we can do something to get Auda?" I suggested.

"If he has Auda's spirit in him, then he won't come back," Trevor reasoned.

"But if he does, then you need to tell us," Lucy said.

"Yeah, of course," he answered.

"So hey, is this the end of today's meeting? I'm really tired," Alexa said.

"Tell me about it," Trevor mummured.

Chang sighed.
"I'm also tired, spirits. We haven't even begun properly and we're already exhausted. It's going to be a rough one."

We all agreed and teleported back to the mortal world.

***

I sat in my dad's study, drawing in my sketchbook.

I doodled the symbols I usually see in Horei.
They were facinating and I always tried to guess their meanings.

When my wrist started to hurt I dropped my pencil and lay my head down on the table.

It was just crazy, but Trevor had a point.

So how cruel could Auda get?

I brought my hand to my face and opened up my palm.
I concentrated and a beam of light shot out of the centre. I put it below my chin like so I'd look scary like I'm telling a horror story with my friends out at the campfire.

"Once upon a time..." I began, "there was a boy–" the door flew open and I shreiked.

Trevor chuckled loudly.
"You alright?"

I steadied my breathing.
"...who was so stupid I felt like punching his face!"

"Huh?"

"What is it?" I hissed.

"Aren't you going to come down for dinner?"

"Um, yeah...sure," I said slowly. "Since when do you care if I've eaten?"
Trevor rolled his eyes.

"Since I'll be detained when the police finds out I let you die of starvation," he said bluntly. "We also need to talk about mom."

I willed the light to go off and stood up with a sigh. I grabbed my sketchbook and pencil and followed him out the door.

I had the leftover spaghetti from the fridge but Trevor decided that the pizza he ordered was much safer for his health.

"She's been missing for a while now," he mumbled with a full mouth. "We have to alert the police or something."

"Trevor stop overreacting!"

He dropped the slice he held on his plate and reached for a glass of water. When he drained the glass, he stared at me.

"What's wrong with you? She's your mother, why aren't you bothered?"

Tears welled up in my eyes and I struggled to hold them back.
Trevor's eyes widened as he watched me.

"Beacuse I'm sacred," I whispered. "I don't want to believe that anything bad happened to her! I don't want to think about it. I just want to believe everything is alright okay?"

I started to sob.
"Hey..." He got up and walked over to me.
He dragged a chair backwards and sat next to me.

"I'm scared too. I really don't want to think about it as well. But you can't just pretend like everything is alright because it's still going to affect you later. That's not a good way of solving your problems."

I began to weep harder.
"Hey, hey," his eyes softened. "Come on, get in here."

Despite myself, I lay my head on his chest as he wrapped his hands around me and stroked my hair.
Strangely, he was so comforting I almost forgot what I was crying about.

But thoughts of everything that had happened so far began to swirl in my mind.
My stomach turned and I felt like throwing up with all the anxiety I was feeling. My throat constricted and hurt as more tears threatened to flow.

Honestly, I wasn't the tough girl everyone took me as.
I was the biggest softie I knew. And I was scared. Scared of everything. Being a spirit of Reina, my dad being Auda, my mom missing.
Oh my God, my mom. What happened to her?

And I always tried to wave everything off as my mechanism to cope with my anxiety. Trevor was right. It didn't. It solved nothing and it didn't change anything.

After a while, I got used to the movement of the hand stroking my hair and the annoying voice humming a song above me. I stopped crying and I felt much better.

I soon realized my senses and realized that I was lying on Trevor.

I got off him and he let me go, looking at me with concern.

"You better?"

I nodded and slowly got up from my seat and I began to walk to my room.

"So we calling the cops?" he yelled.

I sighed, "Yeah, sure."

"Awesome! Um, you know I would've done that anyway right?"

"Of course, you're Trevor."

***

My room window was above Trevor's basketball court and  I could hear muffled voices coming from there as I lay down on my bed.

I walked over to the window and strained my ears to listen to what what going on.

"Yeah, I haven't talked to her since," I heard Trevor say, "but I want to. I'm so mad at her right now, but I miss her."

He was talking about Maddie.

"Well, I'm sorry about that bro. I'm also sorry for the stuff I said to her. She hit a nerve and I kind of lost it."
That was Alexis's voice.

"It's alright, she's fine. But dude why do you always get mad when you see us both together?"

Alexis was silent for a moment till he sighed.

"Okay, since you're my bro I think I should tell you this... I kind of like someone but I can't just talk to her and when I see a couple together, I feel horrible."

Omg, this was good stuff.

"Do I know this person?"

"Um, it's Lucy."

My brother gasped with me, though mine wasn't loud enough to be heard.

"Dude! You're not kidding?!"

I didn't hear Alexis's voice for a while.

"No, I'm not. I dunno...I just do. She seems so interesting and dark. It's so hot."

It was Trevor's turn to be silent.

"Holy Reina, this is so cute! But...you don't talk. You even act like you hate her so much. You're both like, enemies!"

"I know. She doesn't like me back so I try to distance myself so she won't get the hint. I dunno, it's sad cause she'd never like me and I really do. It hurts..."

"How are you so sure? Hey, you're a great guy. I mean, you can be irritating sometimes but you're still awesome. Your my bro. Even if Lucy doesn't see you as the amazing guy you are, that's fine. There are other girls that will."

"Thanks man. That's so cool of you. Oh man, I had to let that out. Thanks for taking it much better than I expected."

Trevor guffawed.
"Yeah, I'm used to surprises now. And I'm sorry for acting all lovey dovey with Maddie when you're around. I had no idea it made you uncomfortable. I'll stop."

"You don't have to do that...just don't kiss in my front please." I imagined him grimacing.

"Jeez, okay fine. So we're cool?"

"Yeah, yeah, for sure."

I shut my window and fell onto my bed.
That was some news.

I lay there for a while until I began to drift off to sleep.
Suddenly, Trevor walked in and flicked the lights on.

I groaned and turned the other way.

"Hey, girlie. I came to check up on you."

"I'm fine, thank you brother. Just because I let you hold me once doesn't mean I'm not still the vicious Tanya you grew up with."

Trevor laughed and I heard him walk over to my bed.

"Yes of course, you will always be Tanya. But don't deny I made you feel better today."

"Okay fine you did, but you won't be seeing that part of me anytime soon."

"Oh, no problem," he chuckled. "So you good?"

"Yeah, I'm fine, thank you Trevor...for being there for me."

"Aww, of course! Anytime! Oh my, I haven't seen this reasonable side of you in my life!"

"Okay, that's it get out!"

He cackled and dashed out of the room as I flung a pillow at him.
I got up from the bed and slammed the door shut.
Then I picked my pillow up from the floor and strolled to my bed.

Isn't Trevor such a lovable human being?
Haha it feels like this story revolves around him doesn't it?
