Personality |
" 𝒀𝒆𝒂𝒉 𝑰 𝒂𝒎 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒂𝒗𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒔𝒐𝒏 "
Formerly, Percy was the kind of guy who had a lot of insecurities that he mostly kept to himself. He didn't like talking about what bothered him, nor opening up to people in fear that they would only put him down for his problems. He was stupid in a sense, being under the impression that he wasn't good enough ( after all even his right to be heir had been taken from him, because he wasn' what his mother wanted from her children, he wasn't like his sister ), and yet he was known for his intelligence. He wasn't the strongest, physically or mentally, but he had acquired a lot of knowledge in his life. He knew a lot about their history, geography, even people with powers as he'd been quite fascinated by that topic in particular. He was the very definition of politeness, as if he'd memorised the book of manners in one night ( .. did he? maybe, it would suck if he were to mess up and be seen as a disappointment after all ). He didn't really like books, or studying, alll of that felt suffocating, but he tried his best to feel accomplished in one area at least. Even though he knew that his real strength lied in brains rather than brawl, he would still be training with the guards with every chance he got. He liked the adrenaline rush he got from handling a sword, it was different from sitting in a chair with his nose in a book, forced to be studious rather than following his inclinations.
"𝑩𝒖𝒕 𝑰'𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒐'𝒔 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈. "
He aspired to become better at sword fighting, despite practising in secret only with the ones he could trust ( someone like Cal ). He was still too reluctant to let others see him doing badly, as a novice when it came to the art of swords. With a fragile mindset, yet a strong desire to become a proper man, he tried to preserve. Maybe he wasn't the most determined. One word from the queen and he would give up everything in order to prove himself, but he kept trying and trying, until the day he was sent away. The idea was that he should toughen up, and that very fact hit too close to home - after everything, was he still seen as weak? useless? a disappointment? The overthinking ate him alive, and everything he'd experienced at that academy was something new, something he wasn't accustomed to.
" 𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒎𝒚 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒕 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒅 "
People were supposed to treat him as an equal, no, actually, even less than that. He was just a boy, not the prince of a country, but a coward who needed to become a man. Four years later and you'd notice how much that academy changed him. His sword fighting wasn't as clumsy, nor was he hesitant to actually hurt his partner in a sparr. The look in his eyes had changed, he wasn't afraid of fighting ( not that he'd ever been, it's just that he was too soft, too merciful, he didn't have the qualities of a capable leader). He's still kind enough to offer a helping hand to those in need, but his once naivety had been cleared up - it's not as easy to trick him, to take advantage of him or lead him on. Percy used to be a fifteen year old who didn't speak back, who didn't dare go against anyone's word if it risked his image being worsened, but he doesn't care about that anymore. He follows his own principles, and stands up for both himself and others if he deems it worthy. And if he does end up playing nice and obedient, it's because he thinks that's the best course of actions.
"𝑰 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒌𝒆𝒆𝒑 𝒐𝒏 𝒎𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒉𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒆𝒓. "
On short, he now uses both his brains and physical strength, and acts by himself. It's not like his relationship with his mother had ever been good, and it was her idea to send him away to toughen up, so now she can deal with the changed prince, the one who won't listen to every single stupid orded she might say. However, he's the same old Percy deep inside, and after learning of his friends' betrayal, he'd been quite affected. Now, he isn't the best at hiding his feelings. He'd never been. If anything he might find someone he could talk to about his problems, if not, he would write them down in a journal possibly. He does tend to voice his feelings now and then, whether it's done subtly or not. As hurt as he might be, he's still going to accomplish anything that life throws at him, like him joining the army. Does he still have an inferiority complex? Maybe. He hadn't seen his sister yet, but he believes that her running away when she was heir to the throne ( he used to say he didn't mind, but oh he's very bitter about it ) is total bullshít. Heck, everyone leaving this place seemed odd to him, but he didn't have enough time to worry about that - after all, he is a hardworker, and he'd been busy ever since he arrived.
Likes |
Owls, swordfighting, exploring, people, spices, collecting whatever catches his eye ( whether it's interesting rocks, or weird old objects that no one needs ).
Dislikes |
Being underestimated, or just people questioning him in general, staying in one place, being alone, losing connections he thought would last forever.
Strengths |
It's not about book smarts anymore, dexterity's something he'd aquired with time. He knows how to deal under pressure, is outspoken and a great dealbreaker, has enough courage to deal with what most wouldn't dare face against. He's strongest with a sword, but that doesn't mean that without a weapon he's weak. He excels in combat, and makes use of his surroundings. He's both a strategist and a fighter. If anything, the very balance between these things could be a great strength of his - one would think he has no weaknesses, being the type of guy who'd smile when in danger. Of course that's not true.
Weaknesses |
Percy does have weaknesses. He has changed, yes, but his emotional scars have never faded away - if anything they've worsened, but at least he learnt how to better deal with them. He still has trouble with his insecurities, but he puts on this pretense that he doesn't care about making his image bad anymore, that he would do the right thing ( from his perspective ) no matter what. He's never been a good liar, however, it's more a matter of being conditioned into thinking that what others have to say about him doesn't matter, a condition that breaks as soon as he's alone - then, he could give in to his problems in a second.
Fears |
He's afraid of achieving nothing in life, of going against his principles and of hurting the innocent. He fears that he will eventually become a disappointment to those he cares about, if he stops working and learning. He's afraid of losing his title, he'd already lost the right to the throne once, being robbed of his status would be even worse. He isn't necessarily scared of dying, but of the death of his loved ones, he is.
Theme song |
