Part 3
???? POV
What makes something evil and good? To me it's all about perspective and based on that perspective we can make a personal decision to what it is. It really isn't hard to see it that way, yet, your kind has again and again tried to label things for everyone to follow.
(Y/n) POV
It's been a few weeks since I got here and it hasn't been that bad or as bad as I expected it to be. We've gotten along fine and it's rather been, kind of fun, in a sort of messed up weird kind of way.
"(Y/n), how come you've always dodged questions about your semblance?" Shin said eating something
"Yeah, you've never used it or if you have I've never seen it's affects" Maddy said looking up from her book while Tex didn't seem that interested
"It's called dead sight" I said and held up my Longbow
"It gives me dead eye accuracy and always a kill shot, but I only get one"
"Sounds cool" Shin said taking another bite"
"It is, the only problem is that it takes up a lot of my aura to use so I'm vulnerable for a time after, about 15 minutes or so" I said and they all nodded. I stretched my arms and cracked my neck
"I'm going up to the room so I can get caught up with the homework"
"I'll come with, I got the same problem" Tex said getting up. We left Shin and Maddy in the cafeteria and we both walked in silence to our room
"So what's the real reason, you followed me back to the room?" I said and her usual hard exterior went a little soft
"I wanted to talk to you". When she said that I got a little excited for what she has to tell me, I have actually started to like my blue haired partner in a romantic way. When we got to the room we sat on opposite beds and I leaned back a little.
"So, what is it you wanted to tell me?" I asked her and she took a deep breath "I wanted to tell you that I" and she paused and her face blushed a little bit
"I like Shin and I wanted your advice on how I could see if he likes me back" and everything stopped for me. 'There goes my chance at happiness' I thought and I felt small tears well up
"You okay?" Tex asked me
"Huh? Yeah, I'm fine. I guess just be honest and open about it, can't get something wrong if you never try I guess" and she got up
"Thanks (Y/n), you are the best man" she said getting up to leave. I don't care anymore, I don't care about this damn place, anyone here, or even myself anymore. I slowly got up and went up to the roof. I got up there and I slammed the door shut behind me. I sat on the edge with my feet dangling over and I laid back watching the sky. a few planes flew by and I didn't feel anything anymore, not anger, not hate, not even sadness. I don't know how much time passed until I heard the door open
"(Y/n), what are you doing up here?" and Shin sat next to me. I didn't acknowledged his presence until he hit my shoulder
"What's up bud?" he said his usual stupid smirk. I grunted at him and he sighed
"So, your not going to tell me what's up?" and I stayed silent
"Well, I was hoping you could help me with Tex, she just confessed to me and she asked if we could go out next weekend, I mean, she's pretty and all but I don't know if we're gonna be a good fit for each other and all" and I glared at him
"Well, never know unless you try" I said trying not to pull my revolver and blast him
"Your right, let's at least give it a shot" he said and he went over to the door
"You can come down any time you want, I got your other stuff for your classes together, later" he said going inside. I didn't get up until it was late at night. I slowly got up and went back to my dorm room. They were still out doing whatever it is they do and I went over to the mission kiosk, I picked a solo one just to get everything out of my head. I forged Shin's signature, which I've done a lot before and it went through. I went over to the landing pad and threw my rifles on the airship headed for Southern Vale, a place famed for it's forests and natural obstacles. I got on and the pilot took off. On the way I pulled out a picture of my team, we took it the first week we got here. I crumpled it up and threw it off and I quietly glared at the night sky as it it flew by. The mission I picked was a solo recon mission to see the local grim activity and I felt that it was easy enough. we arrived and I got dropped off and I put my rifle over my shoulder, Spectre clipped to my back and First Curse in it's holster. I went in the direction that the report said to go in and I found a small path that I could use. I followed it and it broke off into two, one went high and the other stayed on ground level. I took the high road and I got to the highest point and I glanced down into the small ravine below. In it I could see tents, and trucks driving around and most importantly, people walking around. Each dawned the same uniform, White Fang. I got my rifle and looked down the scope at them, they seemed to be packing up and moving to a new location or they were just arriving ' I should call this in' I said pulling out my scroll. I dialed up the school which was there so I could send in my report at the end or if I had anything to say now
"Come on, come on" I said as it rang. I held it up and an arrow hit it sticking it into the ground
"Hey kid" I heard someone yell and I stood up. One of the white fang grunts ran at me with a sword and I used Longbow to block it, his blade nearly broke the rifle in two and made it no longer be able to fire anymore. I used the butt of the rifle and smacked him in the side of the head knocking him out. Two more were behind him and they shot at me. I pulled out Spectre and shot back at them, one of their bullets hit my leg
"Son of a bitch" I said falling to one knee. They approached me and I used the bayonet at the end of Spectre and stabbed both of them. I yanked it out with the blade still red 'I need to leave yesterday' I said as I limped away. I left my rifle behind and I just had Spectre and First Curse with me. I hid behind a tree to catch my breath and about thirty feet away a white fang grunt came out and was about to yell where I was but I used my semblance and shit him with my revolver. I limped away form the spot since I'm sure they heard that shot and would eager to find me since I killed three of their friends. I followed the edge of a river until it came up to a cave, I laid down at the entrance but I wasn't careful enough since the rocks were wet and I slipped. I nearly cried out in pain since Spectre's bayonet was in my side, it didn't go all the way in or else I would've died right there. I pulled it out making the floor of the cave red with my blood. I could hear the white fang closing in and I retreated further in, this time leaving Spectre on the ground, I used the wall as support as I held my wound with my hand to try and slow the bleeding down, but it wasn't working. I fell against the wall and I said to myself
"So, this is it huh? I would rather a bit more of a shoot out way instead" and my mind flashed back to my teammates who would by now have noticed I'm gone.
"Bet their looking for me right now" I said to myself and I laughed a little bit and I could taste my blood
"Damn, guess that was worse than I thought" and I was prepared to succumb to my blood lose but I didn't. I opened my eyes and my gash was still gushing with blood but I wasn't dead yet
"You won't die here" I heard a voice say
"Who's there" I said taking out my revolver
"Do not be afraid, I am the one keeping you alive"
"Well, thanks but I would appreciate being able to thank you in person" I said now standing
"Why'd you help me anyways?" I said to the voice
"I can sense your anger, your hate, your sadness" the voice said and it sounded just around a corner. I went around the corner and no one was there
"I can tell you want your revenge and your conviction to that" and memories of what happened between me and Shin flooded back
"Ah, you loved a woman but she loved someone else instead, a tale as old as time" the voice said again
"Who are you?" I called out and it laughed
"Hahahahaha, I'm close, just around the next corner" it said and I came around and at the end was a pair of doors. They were old and worn, covered in moss and it had bones around it
"I am inside" it said and I went up to them. I used what little strength I had left and pushed the door open. It's heavy frame made a loud noise as I opened it and I slipped inside and the door shut behind me
"Ahead, young warrior" the voice said and I slowly went forward, cannon at the ready just in case. I walked down the hale and torches lit with white fire illuminated a shrine at the end, What rested on it was a sword unlike anything I've ever seen before. It's jagged blade was worn down, the entire thing looked so fragile that I could snap it in two with minimal effort
"What is this?" I said standing in front of the blade
"That, is the Dreadfang, it is the key to your revenge" the voice said and I looked at the blade. It's white tip faded into black at the end near the handle
"Take it" the voice said and I gripped the handle. When I gripped it my hand glowed (f/c) and it went into the blade. I wanted to shout in pain but my body wouldn't let me and when it finished I dropped onto my knees and I caught my breath
"Good, it has accepted you" the voice said and I held up Dreadfang
"What did it do?"
"It ate your aura, yours seems to have satisfied it's hunger" and I swing the blade around and the white shimmer that was it's blade glowed
"Now your training can begin" and I turned around and a small creature came out of the shadows. It was about half my height, it's skin was pink and purple in places. It's eyes were black marbles with no soul and it's face was mangled and torn. It only wore torn cloth as it's clothes.
"What training?"
"Your training in the ways of the darkness"
Time skip 9 months
"You have grown powerful" the creature said tapping it's fingers
"I know" I said using my knife and throwing it in the wall. The creature then jumped up onto the table
"Here, I have crafted this using your old cannon" and he held up a black revolver. It's frame jagged with green energy flowing through the cracks and holes in it's frame. I gripped the handle and it's gems glowed green and the creature grew what could be called a smile
"I did good?" and I shot it into the wall, leaving a rail road spike in it
"Very" I said praising it
"What will you name it?" and I looked at it again. Looking at it's appearance and form
"Thorn"
"Excellent, very good name" it said and I put Thorn in it's new holster on my belt and I turned to leave
"Are you leaving?" the creature said hobbling behind me
"Yes, the time has come for my revenge" I said and I put my hand on the door. I pushed it open and I went to the entrance of the cave. It's been so long since I've seen sunlight I nearly was blinded. My foot bumped something and I looked down and it was my old rifle, the weather and time had taken off it's paint and the sight was glitched into red instead of blue. It's firing setting was also jammed into burst instead of full auto. The blade was also still stained red and it had dripped down the length of the barrel and onto the grip. I held it up and I used some of the dark arts I learned and gave it a new life. Red Spectre is no more, now it is known as Red Death. I clipped it onto my back with Dreadfang which was also in it's own sheath designed to hide it from view. The creature stopped moving and I moved my head to the side just in time to avoid an arrow it shot
"You didn't think it'd be that easy do you?" I said as it tried to pull back another arrow. I slowly go tout Thorn and aimed it at the creature
"You were of limited use, that limit is now" I said shooting it. The little monster fell to the ground with a spike in between it's eyes. I let out a sigh and re-holstered Thorn and I turned on my heel to leave and I came upon a familiar sight. White Fang. They set up a permanent shop here and it was bigger than I last saw it. I then remembered something and I looked around in the grass and dirt and I found it, my old Longbow. I decided to fix later but now I want to see what they're up too. I walked down till I was at the front and three grunts came out to stop
"Hey st-" I cut him off by shooting him and I threw Thorn into my other hand and shot the other two 'This is going to be fun'
???? POV
The Sword Logic. I'm not sure if you know what it is but it states that the more worn down a blade is, the more powerful it and it's user are. A fresh sword has seen no combat, nor has it ended something. It is a universal principal that is as old and as true as the sky itself.
