First Night - II

"Here's my room-" Viktor started before being interrupted.

"Our room," Ruby said, smirking, leaning against the thin wooden door.

"-the bathroom," Viktor continued, pointing at the door right next to his, "and Viktoria's room." Her door was diagonal to the bathroom. "Her room is off-limits."

Viktor felt the need to point that out as way of showing authority. Something about this person made him cautious.

"Why would I want to go in there," Ruby said, going into Viktor's room. "I'd much rather be in here with you." Once again, he was shocked at Ruby's bold words.

"Is he-? No, he couldn't be," Viktor muttered to himself. It was rare that he would meet someone so open about their sexuality, plus it's rude to assume. Entering his room, he saw Ruby sprawled on his bed.

"Your bed is pretty small," Ruby said, sitting up. "Apologies in advance if I get in your personal space." A smile crept on his face as he watched Viktor scoff before walking to the other side of the room.

"If you want to take a bath, I'd wait until after we get the pizza," Viktor said, opening up the door to the little walk-in closet. Grabbing a sweatshirt, he pulled it over his head.

"So, what do you want to do in the meantime?" Ruby asked, suggestion in his tone.

"Nothing," Viktor replied, sitting on the edge of the mattress. It may be his room, but he didn't feel very comfortable in Ruby's presence.

"Aren't you curious to how I know your sister?" Ruby hinted at, laying back so he could Viktor's face. "It's quite an interesting story."

"If it's about how you guys hooked up, I'll pass," Viktor said, wincing at the pain of his sore body.

"No, nothing like that happened..." Ruby answered. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, a little sore, that's all."

"What were you doing?"

"Why do you care?"

"I'm curious."

"Then don't be."

"Too late."

"If you really wanna know," Viktor said, sighing, "I was doing physical activities." In truth, he and Viktoria were searching for something.

"No duh," Ruby muttered. "You embarrassed to tell me or something?" His dark eyes locked with Viktor's pale ones, and Viktor looked away.

"No. It's none of your business, that's all." Viktor fell back, covering his eyes with his arm. It seemed rude to turn out the lights on his "guest", so covering his eyes was the next best thing. "Wake me when it's time to go."

Ruby huffed in annoyance before an idea came into his head.

"Sure," he said, smiling.

····
"Viktor, Ruby, it's ready!" Viktoria's voice called up. She sounded so distant, and quieter than usual.

"Viktor," Ruby whispered in his ear, causing him to stir. What reason would cause Ruby to speak quietly for? As if he wasn't suspicious enough, Ruby's voice was louder than the sirens going off in Viktor's head. As he opened one eye, Viktor froze as he realized how close Ruby was to him.

"You can back up now," Viktor said, feeling slight nervousness. Ruby smirked, placing his hand on his stomach. Although he was gentle about it, Viktor felt as if he was punched in the gut, since he immediately lost his breath.

"I'm in no rush to head out into the cold," he said seductively, causing Viktor to freeze up. "We could just stay here, eh?" Viktor couldn't muster the strength to move, but he was able to find his voice. Something about this moment made him weak.

"Ruby," Viktor said, his voice shaking. Why was he acting like this? Viktor couldn't recall a time where he was ever so uneasy about someone showing attraction towards him. They looked into each others' eyes, and Viktor could've sworn he saw a look of surprise in his... light orbs?

Weren't they dark before?

With lighter eyes, Ruby appeared to be feeling more bold.

"Yes, Viktor?" he asked, pronouncing his name with exaggeration. As they looked at each other, Ruby decided to make the next move.

Ruby lifted up his sweatshirt and the shirt underneath, and Viktor forgot all about the different eye colors. Ruby looked down at Viktor with captivating eyes as his cold fingers traced shapes on Viktor's abdomen. The feel of his touch on Viktor's skin caused him to tremble.

"Hm?" Ruby asked, noticing his reaction. "Do you want me to stop?" Embarrassed, Viktor covered his eyes, his only response an inaudible noise one could assume was out of pleasure.

"Viktor, Ruby, come on!" Victoria's voice rang out, causing Viktor's eyes to open.

He sat up straight, his heart beating fast. Ruby was staring at him, a look of shock on his face. And, something else, as well. Making eye contact, Viktor's face flushed red. He jumped up and headed down the stairs, leaving Ruby by himself.

"What took you so long?" Viktoria asked, crossing her arms. "And where's Ruby?" She came out of the kitchen, blocking his path to the door.

"Where are your glasses?" Viktor asked as he stepped past her. Another sign that she was crushing on their guest. Based on Viktor's dream, though, it seems she wasn't the only one. "Can you even see?"

"Of course I can see," Viktoria said, rolling her eyes. She wrapped a gray scarf around Viktor as he put on his shoes, glancing at the stairs a few times. Getting his feet into his sneakers, he looked up to see dark red lipstick on her lips, along with her winged eyeliner.

"Are you wearing makeup, too?" Viktor noticed. "Are you trying to impress-"

"Ruby!" Viktoria exclaimed. "There you are, now, you two, get going." She was in quite the rush to get them out of the house. Viktor stood up straight to see Ruby wearing one of his jackets, along with his black face mask hanging off an ear.

"Hey, you look nice without your glasses on," Ruby said, causing Viktoria to blush. "You have such beautiful eyes." Viktor turned away from the two, and instead got to work undoing the locks.

"Thank you," Viktoria said, bashful for about a millisecond. "Now, hurry up. I'm starving."

They stepped out into the cold air, the heavy door closing tight behind them. Viktor went first down the stairs, almost leaving Ruby behind. He didn't know why he dreamt such a thing, but it wasn't helping build up their relationship, or strengthening Viktor's belief in knowing his sexuality.

"Hey, wait up," Ruby said, catching up to him on the sidewalk. Viktor focused his mind on the task at hand, which was making their way to the pizza place without freezing to death. They walked silently, but the sounds of the busy city in the distance filled the silence.

"Viktor," Ruby finally said, disturbing the quiet atmosphere. Viktor ignored him, instead focusing on where he was going. "Viktor," Ruby said again, his patience running thin. "You have one last chance before I get angry."

"What do you want?" Viktor answered coolly, not facing his companion. He pulled the scarf up around his mouth, trying to fight off the cold. It seemed ignoring the problem was the best solution for Viktor.

"You."

Viktor stopped in his tracks, and Ruby stopped in front of him. With the mouth mask on, his words should've been muffled. Instead, that single word was clear as day in Viktor's mind.

"What did you say?" Viktor asked, certain he was hearing things. It couldn't have been true. It never was, concerning Viktor's past experiences. Ruby pulled down his mouth mask so he could be heard better.

"I want an answer," Ruby said, shoving his hands in his pockets. Viktor noticed how he didn't repeat his exact words, but instead rephrased the statement.

"What's your question?" Viktor asked, looking at Ruby with a bored expression.

__

"Do you like me?"

"What?" Viktor responded, an alarm going off in his head. Such a bold question, but not a clear answer. Denial was Viktor's first option. "Of course not. I just met you, and I'm not like that."

"Eh?" Ruby asked, tilting his head in surprise. "Like what? I just meant as a person." Biting his bottom lip, Ruby smiled at his words. It seemed as if he had caught him.

"That's also what I meant as well," Viktor said, quickly resuming their walk. He knew Ruby saw him slip up, and he hated himself for it. It was usually Viktor who noticed the mistakes, not the other way around.

"Sure," Ruby replied, following after him. He looked up into the dark night sky, breathing in the crisp air. He could see a few stars, but they disappeared once the skyscrapers came into view. As they got closer to the outer city, music floated in the air. They stopped at a crossing light, and Viktor recognized a song that Viktoria had gotten stuck in his head. With the scarf covering half his face, he thought it would be safe to mumble a few words.

"Oh my, oh my," Viktor sang softly, barely audible. Ruby glanced over at him, and noticed the other male. The light changed, and they crossed the street. As they passed the restaurant playing the song, Viktor noticed it kept playing in his head.

"Is that the place?" Ruby asked, pointing towards a pizza shop. It was crammed between an arcade and a record store, and seemed to be doing relatively well on a Friday night. Viktor nodded his head, and they walked across the street.

Viktor pulled open the door, and they both sighed as the heat from the oven inside warmed their cold bodies. Ruby headed inside first, pulling his mouth mask off so it hung on one ear. Viktor pulled his scarf down from his mouth before speaking.

"I'll pay, you can wait here," Viktor said. Ruby nodded his head, and watched as the slender boy walked up to the counter. He let his eyes trail over his figure before being interrupted.

"Excuse me?" a feminine voice asked. Ruby turned to see a small girl with short, light-blue hair. She had plump lips, a rounded nose, and seemed to have a mischievous glint in her brown eyes. "I saw you come in, and I just wanted to say I really like your piercings."

"Oh, thanks," he said, feigning interest. Ruby wasn't usually approached, and his piercings were the main reason why. That didn't necessarily mean he wanted to be approached, either. He looked over her head as a sign that he was done talking, but she didn't seem to take the hint.

"So, uh, do you have any plans tonight other than eating stale pizza?" she questioned, trying to keep his attention. "I'm about to head out with my friends, and we were gonna go to this underground club. You should come with-"

"No thanks," Ruby said bluntly. She stared at him in shock, about to speak again, but Viktor headed over to them with the pizza box in his arms.

"You ready?" Viktor asked, not acknowledging the short girl, but knowing she was staring daggers at him.

"Yeah," Ruby said, throwing his arm around Viktor's shoulders. He glanced back at the girl, smirking, before heading back into the cold night.

As their feet took them further away from the city, it started to snow lightly. Ruby realized he was still holding onto Viktor, but didn't mind since it was getting colder. He needed the body heat, plus the heat from the pizza box.

"So, who was that girl?" Viktor mumbled, his scarf back around his mouth. Ruby shook his head, glancing up at him. He neglected to put his mouth mask back on, and didn't feel like doing it anyways. Viktor noticed his eyes on him and looked back at Ruby before stopping.

"What is it?" Ruby asked, letting his arm drop. Viktor pulled down his scarf, and put the pizza down on the ground. "Hey, what are you-"

Viktor suddenly pulled Ruby down a side alley and pushed him against the wall. Ruby felt light-headed at the sudden action, and his heart started to beat furiously. Staring into his pale blue eyes that seemed to glow in the dark, Ruby didn't know what was expected to happen next.

"Viktor," he said, but Viktor quickly shushed him. "Why are you doing this?" Ruby whispered, not knowing what the situation was; all he knew that it was exciting him.

"Someone's following us," Viktor replied, glancing down the alley. "You stay here, I'll handle it." Ruby deflated in disappointment, but quickly realized the situation.

"It might be that girl's friends," Ruby said. "She didn't seem too happy when I turned her down, so maybe she sent her goons after us."

"That's crazy," Viktor said, shaking his head. "Who would do something like that?"

"Well, I am a catch," Ruby said, smirking, "and she seems like the type of girl who gets what she wants." Viktor snorted, and Ruby dropped the smirk.

"You may seem like a cool guy, but you certainly are no catch," Viktor said, a small smile on his lips. Ruby stared at Viktor with interest, and grasped the taller boy's scarf.

"And what makes you say that?" Ruby asked, his attention focused on the gray scarf. His fingers inched closer to Viktor's neck, and Viktor saw what his intentions were.

"Because, all you do is flirt," Viktor said lowly, leaning down closer to Ruby. Ruby made eye contact with him, and felt his confidence disappear as Viktor gazed into his eyes. His eyes looked down at Viktor's lips, and he realized they were plump and pink, like a girl's.

A gunshot rang throughout the alley, and Viktor pulled back to see two large guys and a small girl with short, light-blue hair.
