"Sam it's time to go! You don't want to be late on your first day, do you!?!" My mother shouts from downstairs.

"Yeah, I'm nearly ready, just have to put on my shoes!" I shout back grabbing my black converse and quickly putting them on. I pick up my black beanie that was on the ground and put that on too.

I grab my suitcase that had all my clothes and toiletries. My mother has already sent all the rest of my stuff ahead in boxes to Eastwood Academy.

I hobble down the stairs with the bag and let me tell you it was extremely heavy. I plonk it down at the end of the stairs to give myself a rest. I pick it back up as I don't want to delay, walk out the door and close it behind me. I shuffle to the car where my mother was waiting for me impatiently.

We pull out of the driveway as soon as I get the bag in the car and put on my seat belt.

I stare out the window trying to memorise everything so I don't forget anything during my stay at the academy. I was going to miss the small town of Axileton.

(*1 hour time lapse*)

"Are we there yet?" I ask like an annoying child for the thousandth time.

"Only five more minutes," she says keeping her eyes on the road.

As we near the Academy I look out the front window to see a ginormous castle like building with a large modern campus surrounding it. It was kind of strange and it looked like they came from two different time frames which I guess was true. You would expect it to not look good at all but I think it added to the place, made it unique.

A tall clock is co-ordinated in the middle of the yard.

The car stops and I immediately open the door.

"Wye u no luv yur mudda???!?!" My "mudda" asked jokingly. I roll me eyes at her and get out of the car.

"Goodbye Mam, I'll see you next school break," I say with a laugh.

I see how beautiful the school is with its green trees and incredible architecture but for some reason no one is socialising. I get my bag out of the back and walk away from the car and my mother drives away with a wave.

"Hello, you must be the new student," a voice says from the left.

I look around to see a dark skinned girl with gold, circle glasses framing her brown eyes. She was wearing a royal blue jumper with a crest on it, black trousers and a pale blue shirt.

It must be the uniform. I guess it's ok...

I look down at the her now out-stretched hand and took it in mine to shake.

"Yes, I'm Sam Andrews. Nice to meet you," I say trying to be the nicest I could, I wanted to make a good first impression and it might be nice to have at least one friend.

"Ya I know, wait that probably came off creepy, I'm not a stalker or anything. Anyways moving on, I'm Rebecca Maze and I'm part of the welcoming committee. I know what your thinking I'm probably like one of those mean girls trying to act all nice right? Well let me assure you while there's a few of them here, I'm not one of them," she says impossibly fast that it took me a few seconds to process all she said.

"Ok good to know," I say letting out an awkward laugh.

"Oh you probably want to go inside and get all sorted. So let me get to the point. Welcome to Eastwood Academy and I'm going to help you get through the new hell you are going to be dealing with here," she announces with a wide smile and a laugh.

"Now pick up your bag and follow me," she says, turns around and walks off, not even looking behind her to see if I was following her.

I guess there's no harm in following her. It's not like I knew where to go anyways...

I pick up my bag and waddle after her, looking around me in awe. It was so beautiful. I follow her up the steps to the wooden double doors and into a reception type room.

"This is the reception room, ya we have one. You just go over there to Sally at the desk and she will ring the principal so he knows you're here. Then you will probably wait for a few minutes because why wouldn't he make you and then you'll be sent to the principals office so he can officially 'welcome you' to the school or more like lay down the law and give you your schedule," Rebecca says.

"Are you going to stay with me?" I ask unsure.

"Ya I'll be with you every step of the way, well except in principals office, there you'll be on your own, sorry," she replies with a shrug of her shoulders.

"That's fine, thank you," I say with a sincere smile.

With that we walk up to the reception desk. The secretary or Sally looked around in her late twenties and might I add was currently chewing very loudly on a piece of gum. Her pleach blond hair was pulled so tight into a pony tail that it would be a miracle if it didn't all fall out by the time she's thirty. She also had blue eyes which completely the stereotypical blond look. She was wearing a white shirt, black blazer and a black pencil skirt.

"Hi, my names Sam Andrews and I'm new here, I was wondering if I have to go to the principals office?" I say.

She looks up from her phone for a second to take me in and then looks back continuing to chew away. Without saying anything she picks up a different phone that was on the desk and dials a number that I presume was the principal's.

"A Sam Andrews is here to see you Sir," Sally says into the phone.

The principal said something in return and Sally replies with, "ya, I'll tell her right away," and hangs up.

Well that was fast.

"Mr. Cardwell will see you in a few minutes, he's busy right now," she states.

"Thank you Sally," Rebecca says before I could reply and grasps my arm. She pulls be towards some over stuffed chairs in the corner of the room.

I sit down on the one beside Rebecca.

"So where are you from?" Rebecca asks leaning forward, obviously eager to know.

"I'm from Axileton, you?" I say.

"Oh no way!! I was born in Axileton, moved here when I was four. I don't really remember it but my brother said it was cool," she says in excitement and her face splits into an impossibly large grin.

It lights up her face and I could see it was a genuine smile.

"Really? That's such a coincidence," I remark looking at her more closely to see if I recognised her at all but I got nothing.

"I know right!?! Anyways do you wear contacts because they have got to be fa-" before she can finish her sentence she gets cut off by Sally who says, "Miss. Andrews, Mr. Cardwell would like to see you now."

Rebecca gives me the thumbs up to show her support. I smile, stand up, pick up my bag and walk to the desk.

"Where will I put my bag?" I ask Sally indicating to my bag.

"Just leave it with Rebecca over there," she says.

"Ok thanks and where is the office?" I ask Sally.

"Just go through that door on the right and walk down the hall until you come to some double doors at the end of it," she answers.

I nod my head in understanding and go over to the over stuffed chairs and set my bag on my now vacant chair. Then I head over to the door she was talking about.

Opening it I walk through out into a hall that had paintings of various people an the wall. The ceiling was extremely high and was immensely decorated with intricate paintings of angles and demons fighting.

I walk down the hall with my head looking left, right and up trying to take it all in.

I finally reach the double doors Sally must have been talking about and I must say I was impressed. The carvings were amazing, they depicted the same creatures as the ceiling paintings.

I knock on the hard wood door and faintly her a voice saying to come in.

I place my hand on the door and push.

That was the start of my time in Eastwood Academy. I ended up being Rebecca's roommate and we've been friends ever since. It's seems so long ago now but in reality it was only a few months.
