Chapter 6

It was quiet for a beat as everyone's eyes locked onto you, now exposed to their curious yet alarmed (at least for the newer bots) optics. You couldn't help but grimace and curl into yourself slightly, unnerved by their gazes as you planted your hands on the digits holding you, slightly pushing away as if to give you any space from them all.

"A human?" A baritone voice spoke up in the stillness, followed by large, heavy footsteps coming your way. You couldn't help but fidget as the largest of them all stepped in front of you in three easy steps. The red and blue mech glanced down at you in confusion, noting his (surprisingly human-like–) eyebrows furrow and a frown set upon his face towards the red bot holding you. "Cliffjumper, explain."

Oh, this one meant business.

"Saw her hiding behind some of the rocks on the field. She saw me fighting some con's and I saw one going after her so I saved her. Long story short, there wasn't anywhere else to put her safely so I ended up calling for a bridge and brought her back here to base, sir."

The tall one kept quiet to process what Cliffjumper reported, leaving the other two bots the opportunity to approach you both.

The yellow one with the widest bright blue eyes you could see approached the closest, leaning in towards you in his comrades hands. Seeming to be a bit giddy, yet cautious, the bot brought himself to be eye level with you as soft whirring of the rims of his optics focusing could be heard.

<BBZZRY RRTS BRSTST RRTS->

What the heck.

<--ERRTZ BZZRTS ZZRT>

Buzzing, beeping? Was this another language? Could he not speak? Was this code? Dare you say it sounded a little familiar-

<RRTZ BSSTS BURTZZ - there - ZZRT> There- you knew it sounded familiar- although it maybe should have taken you longer to figure out, much less understand, it did sound strikingly familiar to a some audio coding you have loosely learned in a coding class your dad pushed you for when you were a little younger, although you do regret not studying it more afterwards. What kind of code, you couldn't recall; there were a lot of things you don't really remember from when you were young-

"Yeah, just right out in the open. Not sure what she was doing there or what she did to have a 'con chase her like crazy heh heh," Cliffjumper chuckled as he raised you the slightest bit higher to be at his optic level now. "She sure didn't make it any easy for them to catch her though that's for sure," You think see him glance over to the larger green bot of the group, who was silently watching and keeping his distance. "Think she's got wrecker potential Bulk?"

The called bot simply let out a hum, glancing at the human and away, almost appearing awkward on how to approach the two bots with the human now. "Uh, maybe, not sure - don't know if a human would want to go fight some con's though."

"She shouldn't be here at all, point blank. This isn't a place for humans to be." Muttering, Arcee looked up at the human as she stayed seated hunched over on the metal crate she sat on. "Too dangerous for one."

The shuffle of heavy feet caught everyone's attention in the room, immediately being dragged back to the one who seemed to be the leader of them all. He simply held out an arm to the side and motioned with his servo to the area she was plucked on, Cliffjumper immediately getting the message and gently setting you down before backing around to give the tall one space.

Gently, he crouched down to be eye level with you, almost as if to not scare or intimidate you as he observed you for a moment longer before he started speaking. "My name, is Optimus Prime. We are autonomous robotic organisms from the planet Cyberton, also known as Autobots."

"I'm guessing the ones from before weren't Autobots like you guys are, huh?" You couldn't help but mutter, before instantly tensing up as the leader continued to stare at you, his gaze almost piercing.

"A fair judgment, one that you are correct in. The ones whom you have seen attack us are the Decepticons, ones we have been at war for quite some time."

"And...what does that have to do with me?" As blunt as you may have came off, you really did need to know why all this had to involve you at all- despite your curiosity of wanting to know more about these huge war-fighting robots- and why you were being kept here and not being let back to...your dad...

"Since you now know of our existence, I fear that the Decepticons may know of yours due to what has transpired from where Cliffjumper has taken you from."

You could see the slightest movement of Optimus's iris? – grow and shrink in size from how close he was to you, but you could also see how much of a burden this seemed to be on him too. On all of them.

Optimus then suddenly stood up and turned slightly to the others. "Until we know if the Decepticons are aware of her involvement, we cannot release her."

"We keep her here at base then right?" Cliffjumper spoke. "At least until we know the 'cons aren't looking for her or anything–"

"–No, no wait-" You quickly jumped into the conversation- not liking the thought of staying, but also the thought of your dad at the moment. "I have to get back – to my dad, right now. He has no idea where I am and he's gonna panic!" You really needed to go back.

"It is best that you remain under our watch, until we are able to determine the enemy's intention, and until the area around the battle site is cleared of any Decepticon."

"Because of the Decepticons blowing up the site, it's not even safe to groundbridge back there- much less for a human to survive," Ratchet pipped in without turning his back, steadfastly focused on the green screen he was typing on before suddenly turning towards Optimus. "Optimus, with all do respect, the human is in as much danger here, as anywhere-"

"That's not making me feel any better staying here-"

"-humans have no protective shell. If she gets underfoot, she will go...squish."

Another beat and the medic raised a ped up before quickly stomping down to demonstrate.

"Oh yeah I'm not staying here at all-" You muttered as a shiver crawled up your spine before turning and pleading to Optimus. "Please, I need to go back home. I'm not telling a soul about your existence or war or anything at all, I promise!"

"I understand your concern, but for your safety we must keep you here until we are at least certain that there are no more Decepticon's around the mine that you came from." Optimus's words were anything but reassuring to you.

"Look Optimus, with all due respect-" Cause yeah lets not upset the leader of these robots who can squish you with their foot- "-my dad keeps an eye on me like 24/7 and he always, and I mean always, wants to know where I am so the fact that this happened is all just extremely unnerving! This is my fault since I decided to sneak off– if only I hadn't been curious to explore- ARGH!" You couldn't help but ruffle your hair in frustration at all that was going on, the fear of these robots now being replaced with dread. The fact that your father must have now realized you jumped over the fence he blocked off made you even more uneasy, knowing that he wouldn't stop at nothing to find where you were and get you back again-

...hm?

...again?

I live heehee.

I have no motivation tbh, but just enough to write some more for this story here and there.

I physically cannot bring myself to work on multiple stories at once so it's literally going to be one book at a time.
