77: Lollipop.

Lollipop slowly lifted her head from the heavy rubble that lay over her, groaning quietly from the pain as small chunks of broken pieces of building slid off her as she tried to lift herself from it. She moved a single hand to feel her head, smoothing down it and realiing it was cracked, flinching at the feeling of a massive chunk missing from her head.

She began to panic, struggling to stand over the fallen pieces of wood and random belongings. She stumbled, on her hands and knees as she looked up.

There was dust and debris all around, she was still dazed and was struggling to understand what was going on, crawling to try and stand. She coughed from the dust and tried to wave it out of her face, hearing screaming erupt from all around.

She had just been in the kitchen of her team cabin, when suddenly an explosion occurred and the whole thing seemed to collapse violently. She was surprised she was still alive, still in the process of trying to gather herself and realise what just happened, managing to stand..

She felt uneasy, trying to stand straight but there was nowhere flat, trying to walk to move herself out of the scene.. what just happened still hadn't quite set in, and her head was in pain. She tried to make out what was happening but it all felt like a strange dream, disorientated.

"PILLOW!! LETS GO!" She heard Pen shout from somewhere to her left, her confused. She heard more shouting and screaming, and when she looked up she suddenly realised why, observing as Two was hurting other objects.

"Two destroyed all the cabins!!!" Someone cried, rushing over to where The Losers cabin was. She couldn't tell who, too dizzy "C-Clock?! Clock!!!"

"We gotta get outta here!" Someone ran past her while holding someone elses hand, she wasn't sure who they were either. She rubbed her head as she watched someone scramble from Team Ice cubes cabin, then run off into the forest, tripping up.

Lollipop couldn't see any of her team.. she tried to think straight, noticing that some objects weren't running. In fact, she watched as Leafy pounced on Bottle and smashed her with her fist.. what was happening..? She backed up fearfully

"R-Run Lollipop!" Jr cried as he ran past her. "Jr.. why are you back from the exit..?" Lollipop questioned wobbly, confused and dazed. Jr flinched as someone screamed behind him. "Just run to the fucking forest! Can't you see?! Anyone who sided with Four is getting fucking slaughtered!"

Jr didn't hang around any longer, running off into the forest to get to safety. Lollipop backed up as she took Jrs word for it, admittedly scared. "B-Book? Taco..? Saw!" She called, but none of them replied because none were around.

Nobody.

Lollipop awkwardly stood at the frame of Golfballs door, it was the enterance to her personal room where she was currently working on RoboTB. Lollipop hadn't really spoken to anyone after her meltdown last night, and was finding it hard to gather the courage to speak to Golfball.

This felt nothing like her.. she was acting so strange but she knew why.. she just..missed her friends to the point it was affecting her physically. She wanted to ask Gb a question, but knew she was probably busy..

She had been stood at the door for a while, just thinking about what she would say and how she would say it. She had walked away a few times, but then returned and realised she really needed to do this. She had been trying to gather the mental courage, pacing a little in thought.. what would she even say..? She tried to suck it up and just go through with it, sighing loudly.

"You can do this.. you've done worse.." she spoke to herself forcefully, turning to face the door. She brought her hand up and let it hover there, closing her eyes and rapidly knocking. Right after she snatched her hand away and held it to her chest, exhaling quietly as anxiety rose within her faster than she expected.

It took a few moments for Golfball to open the door, she stood there in mild awe as Lollipop was the one who had knocked on it, looking up at the taller object. She was a little confused too, looking around as if this was supposed to make sense to her. "Um, yees.??" She 1quizzed, curious to what she wanted.

Lollipop put her hands behind her back "I would like to talk to you..are you busy?"

Golfball squinted.. well, she was, but it wasn't like Lollipop to do something like this, so she decided to let her inside, since she was interested to know what she wanted.

"A little. Come in, anyways." Golfball accepted her request, turning swiftly on her heel and marching back into her workplace, slipping her goggles back on. Lollipop silently exhaled in relief, going to trail inside after her and shut the door behind herself, letting it click.

"What do you want?" Golfball interrogated colder than she had intended, heading towards RoboTB and going to grab her screwdriver to work on a hatch at the back of him, sitting on a stool. Lollipop glanced around, admiring the tools hung up on the wall. She noticed a billboard with things on it, but a lot of it had been crossed out. She didn't speak about it. "Well.."

She crossed her arms, watching as Gb twisted the screwdriver. "Actually..I.. er, this..is hard for me to erm.. talk about." She admitted faintly. Golfball raised an eyebrow and gave her a look, becoming further skeptical as she told her this. "Go on."

Lollipop swallowed silently, going to trail over to a crate to sit on it, crossing her legs and leaning back "Well.. I'm actually, quite missing my friends."

Golfball squinted, continuing to work on RoboTB to make sure she was still getting work done. "We all do, Lollipop." She passively replied.

Lolly frowned, but brushed her comment off. "You don't understand.. it's..not fair."

"Oh, I think I do understand." She grumbled, twisting the screwdriver to remove some screws. "What are you trying to say here?"

"You still don't understand." Lollipop slowly spoke, kind of harshly

"How exactly."

"..Y...You all .. have someone, still. An.. old friend, lets say. Every time we see someone new there's.. some sort of reunion. You may have all lost a few friends, but you still have at least someone you used to know who's alive. And.. " Lollipop swallowed, trailing off "..I ..don't.."

Golfball hesitated, looking up from what she was doing. She noticed Lollipops expression, realizing that she was being serious about this.. she gave it a think, well.. it was true. She couldn't recall any of Lollipops friends who she knew was alive. "What about us?"

"Yes, but you're all.. friends I've gained along the way. You and Blocky were ALREADY friends. I don't.. well, share that with anyone else..."

"Well..I.." Golfball thought of what to say.. she found this quite awkward as she never found herself in these kind of positions when she had the ability to avoid them. Lollipop kind of just walked in and started spewing her feelings out everywhere. "I'm sorry you feel that way, Lollipop. But why are you telling me this, exactly?"

Lollipop gazed off to the side, looking over to the wooden planks on the ground and clutching at the crate she was sat on. She heard Golfball move to her desk and begin typing something in on her computer. Probably code.. "..I.. well, isn't it obvious??" Lollipop scoffed slightly, tense.

"Mmno, not really. " Golfball muttered under her breath, squinting and leaning close to the computer as she typed. Lollipop watched from behind, exhaling uneasily.

".. Can you not perhaps... make some sort of, I don't know.. um.." she watched as she seemed focused, feeling uncomfortable from asking this.

Not having any of her friends around was really eating her up inside and she was wondering how much more of it she could take before it drove her crazy. She closed her eyes, squeezing them shut. "Can't you make some sort of recovery device?" She bit her lip hard after speaking.

"E-Excuse me.-?" Golfball almost fell off her chair, turning to her swiftly as she was in disbelief, it clearly planted on her face. Lollipop stood, hopeful "You're interested in making all these things, are you not? How about you create some sort of machine to bring others back? Like a recovery centre..?"

"..A-..Are you asking me to create a recovery centre?" Golfball repeated Lollipops words, who nodded, answering Golfballs question.

"D-..Do you not realise how difficult they are to make? Not even I know how to successfully create one, that's absurd, Lollipop." She denied her request. Lollipop felt hurt by her refusal, deciding to be persistent.

"Can't you try something? You built a robot version of your friend! Can't you build something that... brings back the dead? I don't see why its so difficult." Lollipop scoffed, crossing her arms and looking to the side. She was clearly upset though, and Golfball could tell, even if she was annoyed by Lollipops aggression.

"I'm not advanced enough for that type of .. thing. I can't ..just bring back your friends, Lollipop. It would take .. probably years of testing and building to actually CREATE one. I don't even know where I would start, or how the mechanics work."

Lollipop was defeated, avoiding eyecontact with her. "..But I miss them so much.." She whispered softly, trailing off and rubbing her arms.

Golfball frowned, gently placing the screwdriver down and moving from her chair. She awkwardly made her way over to her, trying to think of what to say.

".. Look.. " Lollipop peered over to her, not feeling so good. Golfball exhaled, pushing her glasses up her face. "..Unless, Four somehow returns, or.. someone has the ability to heal others, I.. don't think we are going to see our ..lost.. friends again.." Golfball admitted quietly, hitting Lollipop in the feelings.

"Nobody knows how to make them, I certainly don't. And, I know nobody who does, either.."

She kept looking up at Lollipop, who drifted off to avoid eye contact again, holding one of her arms. She looked really upset by the news, and Golfball felt bad, but didn't want her to keep holding onto a false hope. "Recovery is very difficult. Do you remember when X tried? It took so long for him to learn, it's just.. a complicated thing, and I don't.. think anyone will be able to do it."

Golfball didn't talk to Lollipop personally like this, so did feel a little out of her comfort zone, especially since it was something as deep and.. emotional as this. She tried to gather herself, though.

"It's going to take a while to get used to the fact we don't have those objects in our lives anymore. But.. you can't..hold onto them." Golfballs voice cracked and Lollipop perked up, looking down at her.

Golfball had.. recently come to the terms that.. Black hole was right. She hadn't yet admitted it to anyone, but she was definitely holding onto Tennisball. She felt so stupid, mostly because of the things she was willing to do for him and.. the things that she was going to do to her friends to defeat Two and get vengeance. She focused so much on Tennisball, someone who she didn't even know was still alive, instead of those that were still alive. She did it to the point she disregarded the wellbeing of those she still had around her.

It would hurt to let go but she needed to, and honestly, she didn't even know if he was alive. Maybe he was.. and the more she thought about what Fries told her, the more she believed him. Maybe Tennisball was alive afterall..

"I.. don't advise thinking too hard about .. missing things from the past." Golfball muttered, a little embarrassed. "It.. gets to you and it engulfs you. You.. get so stuck in, that.. it begins to effect you. You can't..relive the past again, it's gone, and.. even if that hurts ..you have to accept it.." her words were quiet, but Lollipop could hear.

"I.. recently realised that... holding onto someone or.. something like that poisons you, it.. changes you. You can't..dwell. The more you hold on the more posioness you get, and the worse you feel. You try.. everything in your power to get what you want, to the point you don't even realise what you're doing until its too late.."

Lollipop gripped her arm harder, listening to her attentively. Golfball pushed her glasses up her face and took a deep breath. "Basically.. the more you long for your friends to come back, the stronger that desire will be. And eventually you'll do anything to get them back, and.. you may think I'm wrong, but you'll hurt those around you when you do. And, at that point, you'll realise that after all of the chaos, you never got what you wanted, and .. the only thing you did was.. lose the other friends you have.."

Lollipop sighed quietly "I suppose I.. understand what you're saying.." she muttered softly. "I.. do miss my friends but, I.. definitely want to be there for the ones that I still have, too .."

She suddenly felt sick. She had been so indulged in the past and had been so upset over the fact Fries and Blackhole were leaving that she.. didn't even get to SAY goodbye. She took the moment for granted.. what if she never saw Blackhole and Fries again? She didn't even remember the last things she said to them... how could she have let that happen?

"..I'm..so stupid.." Lollipop half laughed, looking to the side. Golfball hesitated "It's..fine. You didn't know-"

"I feel so... selfish. " Lollipop felt awful, "How could I ...neglect the others like that.. I.. "

Golfball fell silent. She was guilty of doing the exact same thing, but didn't feel like now was the right time to admit to Lollipop she had been planning on turning her into a robot servant. "Don't be too hard on yourself.."

"I.. think I need some space." Lollipop went to turn away, quickly walking to the doors. "..Thanks for .. opening up to me. I appreciate it.." she whispered truthfully, before leaving and shutting the door, Golfball left in an empty room.
