Chapter 13

"There is an emergency I need to rush. Sorry for bailing out." Sejal said apologetically to Darshan who suddenly seemed to wear a confused and disinterested mask of empathy. How rude.
Getting a nod or almost no response from Darshan Sejal reached for the exit calling on for the details of the emergency case. Still making her partly wonder that what happened to the epitome of manners.
A child 8 years. Terrible pain in the stomach and vomiting. Food poisoning is suspected. That's all was the information given about the patient. But they should have consulted a pediatrician instead why admitted in the emergency?

Oh! God. She didn't have a drive as she came here with Darshan but thanks to her reflexes that worked quicker and now she is almost halfway to RCSM in an Uber.

"The symptoms are of twisted bowel." Stephen said reading the patients examine pad.

"Language Dr Joshua it's Volvulus. And we need to conduct a surgery. Nurse go and get the guardians consent." Sejal said pulling her hair into a messy bun.

"Dr first let's try nonsurgical." Stephen said stopping the nurse.

Nonsurgical. Sigmoidoscopy is the method.  A flexible tube (or sigmoidoscope) will be put through the rectum and into the lower part of your colon. Small amounts of air get pumped into the colon to open it. This is usually enough to straighten the intestine. But the chance of the bowel twisting again in the same spot is very high. So that's not a permanent solution. And moreover the patient was bought late and there is no time for trying nonsurgical. Stephen is an intern raw and fresh talent but experience definitely beats talent sometimes.

"Open Colectomy. We are going with the surgery. Get the OT . . ." Sejal stopped mid-sentence as somebody started screaming neverthelessly.

"--- take money from us. Doing bloody surgeries in the name of treatment instead of giving medicines." A woman was shouting at the nurse. Maybe Tulsi Sejal guessed. Tulsi went to take consent of the guardian right? Stephen locked eyes with Sejal for a moment and nodded. Sejal couldn't actually comprehend what he meant the least she could come up with was I-got-this-you-get-going.

The OT was ready on time and soon enough Sejal along with the team of surgeons started with the operation. Stephen had amazingly made that lady understand why surgery was necessary.

Surgical blade.

Check the temperature.

Keep the blood pressure in control.

Check the heart rate.

Scissors.

Needle Doctor.

The surgery was successful. Sejal entered the changing room and threw her scrubs into the dustbin wearing the beige frock again because she obviously didn't have a spare in her locker.

Stephen was writing the chart for the patient as he waved Sejal a bye not before winking. Sejal found his mischievous glint adorable. Smiling she marched to the lift.
Once inside the lift her head started reviewing all what happened today. First the epic reaction of Aryan. Then the dance and the latest discovery of Aryans most wonderful talent of destroying a romantic moment and finally the confession of Dr Bhattacharya.

I missed you.

That one sentence. Those three words rang again and again in Sejals head. Really? After these many years suddenly he confesses things. Sejal was almost at the conclusion that Confession should be definitely considered a criminal offence when the lift doors opened and gave Sejal a mini heart attack. Aryan Shetty. The bipolar was staring her no glaring her with all his energy. Sejal made a 360° turn to confirm whether she was the source of his irritation or not. This made him frown.

Okay. So definitely something is wrong with him. A few hours back he was acting so . . . Dunno. But right now he is acting so weird. Sejal stepped out of the lift and the lift doors closed with a click. Which surely wasn't any help in the situation as Aryan still continued staring sorry glaring at her.

"Is something wr...."

"Where the hell is your phone?" Aryan spoke careful enough not to gain an audience.

Sejal drew her brows together in confusion not understanding why he was asking about her phone.

"Where. Is. Your. Damn. Phone?"  Aryan muttered each word with gritted teeth.

Ta-da.

Sejal put her apple in display. Maybe he wanted to know the features of this phone is what she could conclude. Then she wondered who tipped him about her new phone. Darshan knew. Maybe him. Definitely him. But he could have atleast asked sweetly. Arrogant Bastard.

"Yeah I am."

With that scorching Aryan entered into the lift leaving Sejal all baffled that she had said that loud enough for a population to listen and especially the bastard himself. That's annoying. No it's embarrassing. Gosh life sucks.

"This phone is amazing Dr Shetty and . ." The lift closed and Sejal was left staring at the closed doors making her even more confident that when God was distributing manners Aryan was either kidnapped or playing football.

Does he even play football?

Where did that all come from?

"Arghh.."
Sejal groaned holding the railing almost tripping over something. And that something was a wallet. An elegant one. Picking it up she checked the cards in it and it belonged to none other than Mr Bipolar. At first being kind she decided to go and give him then her unkind side weighed and she decided to give it in the reception lastly her evil side decided to keep it with her itself.

Her feet dragged to the Taxi zone where she waited for her ride. From the corner of her eye she could see a Red Benz being pulled in the parking lot. Anybody could recognise it's Shravan Bhattacharyas car. Both the passenger and driver doors opened surprising Sejal as that same Model from the party got down. Yeah the same Model of whom Aryan was jealous of.

Smiling to herself not even knowing was her assumption about the jealous Aryan being anything near to the truth or not she hailed a cab. God. From now on wards let the girl only drive to the parties picking up the boy. Atleast she will have her own ride. Right?

The next morning Sejal was feeling quite lazy to even get up from the bed.

"Breakfast is ready!"
Katu shouted from the kitchen. As Sejal saw Raghav jumping into the flat from the left window. Not wanting a repeat telecast of the history Sejal rushed to the intercom dashing Katus precious fries on the way.

"BITCH!!"

"Good morning."

"THERE IS NO INTRUDER!" Sejal shouted in the intercom amidst all the chaos.

"Pay me for the fries. NOW!!"

"WHOA! 30 missed calls!!"

What the hell? Why are they both shouting?

"--fries!"

"21!!"

"GUYS SHUT UP!" Sejal shouted.

"We are in the same area on the radius of 3 meters. So can we actually talk instead of shouting."

"You know I love you Sejal but I love my fries more. SO BITCH you are BUYING me LUNCH!!"

Rolling her eyes Sejal gave a thumbs up to Katu calming her down and turned to look at why the lunatic Raghav was freaking himself early in the morning.

"Why were you sh-"

"SEJAL GOT A BOYFRIEND!!"

What the heck??

"Real Shit Rags?" Katu leaped on Raghav to snatch Sejals phone from him.

They both busied themselves in the useless who gets the phone fight while Sejal makes her way to the washroom to brush. Done with her morning routine all dresses up Sejal walks into the kitchen to devour the yummy food.

"He is the one with whom she went to the auction yesterday and he only saved her last week."  Katu filled up Raghav whatever he had missed yesterday while Sejal munched half of the delicious breakfast sparing them some out of mercy.

"Why did Dr Quote call you twenty one times yesterday?"

Is that so? Really?
Why would Darshan call?

"How would I know? Wait I'll just call him now." Sejal said confused.

Katu and Raghav matched up smirks. Seriously? Are they for real considering their stupid boyfriend theory?

The answer seems to be yes with their curiosity piqueing on every ring. And after the last ring the call goes into voicemail. Looks like somebody is upset.
But isn't it obvious that Sejal should be the one upset here on how Darshan behaved yesterday night.

"Boyfriend is upset." Both Katu and Raghav sang together.

God. Please save this world.

"See you at lunch Katu. Want to watch Spider man today?" Sejal threw her question at Raghav.

Spiderman is always a distraction. Hope this time also it works out.

"Okay. I'll pick you up at 7 from office."
Raghav said walking to the window.

Katyusha was the prevention is better than cure type of person so immediately she pulled him almost tearing the fabric of his shirt.

"You are buying me a new shirt today." Raghav says angrily walking to the door.

Hahaha. They are always the five year babies. A new toy and Spiderman is enough to distract them.

Sejal clicked her Baleno open and fired the engine. Clicking her playlist for her morning ride Sejal calls Darshan again. Just in case if he picks up but the ultimate it goes again to voicemail.

There is another unknown number from which nine missed calls were recieved making Sejal realise that yesterday after she had reached RCSM her phone battery was dead so it was basically off. Then it hit her like a current why Aryan was asking about her phone. Was he worried? But why?
Then why didn't he shout at her yesterday? And she thought he came to ask about the features of the phone. Gosh. He could have done it surfing the net only instead of asking.

Who is that unknown caller?

What the hell is happening?

Deciding to help herself out from the misery she herself created she calls the unknown number. After like a third ring somebody picks up.

"Who is this?" Sejal asked in a tentative voice.

"Good morning to you too muñeca."

Muñeca?
Shit. This is Aryan the Bipolar.

"Stop calling that. And why did you call me yesterday?" Sejal asked irritated.

"Calling what muñeca? Because I wanted to host a picnic with the giraffes." Seriously?

Sejal slammed her steering in annoyance. Who wants drama early in the morning?

"Okay. So?" Sejal spoke.

"Somebody is pissed. That's quite attractive." Did he mean sexually?

"I thought you had the hots only for oldies." Sejal smirked satisfied by the silence on the other end. Because Sejals suspicion were quite true when she found a photo in his wallet. Checking his wallet wasn't intentional she found it by mistake.

"So you have my wallet." Aryan said all the sarcasm and mischief gone to hell.

Is he Bipolar?

"Yeah. Are you like . . . Bipolar?"

Sejal heard a chuckle which made her stomach flip and her heart fluttered for reasons unknown. And the playful Aryan was back. He is Bipolar.

" No. Meet me in my cabin. Drive safe."

Sejal was left speechless.
Did Aryan Shetty wished her a safe journey? Or were her ears playing some new game?

Did the same Aryan Shetty who left her dying in the rain one week back said her drive safe?

Maybe he is Ill. He is in urgent need of cure and care. Sejal scrolled her contacts searching for any psychiatrists number.

"He needs help." She muttered while driving.

I missed you. That stopped her from whatever she was doing.

What should she expect from Dr Bhattacharya and how is she going to face him after she practically dumped him on the dance floor yesterday when he said those three world destroying words.
