Hello....Stranger?
I walked to my locker with my books in hand. The hallway was busy and loud. I noticed a certain boy walking in front of me. It was John L. He was a boy in my class. I blushed as I realized that he was so close to me. I decided to ignore him for now.
I walked over to my locker. Hannah was waiting there for me. "Hey An! Did you see John? He was walking in front of you," she giggled. I blushed. "Han, come on. He was right there! How couldn't I have noticed," I chuckled and put my books away.
"Are you going to talk to him any time soon? Or are you just going to stalk him like a creep?" Hannah winked at me. I rolled my eyes. "I'm going to try and talk to him before the bell rings." I watched Hannah's grin grow even wider.
"Don't look at me like that. You're making me way more nervous," I frowned and closed my locker. Her face turned into a mock-serious expression. "Yes ma'm," she tried to hold in a snicker. I rolled my eyes and walked to my classroom.
I opened the door and looked around. I quickly spotted John reading a book in the middle of the room. My heart quickly picked up speed. My hands were sweating like crazy. I couldn't stop shaking. I nervously walked over to the back of the class and sat down in my seat. I kept glancing at John. I felt someone staring back at me. My eyes darted to Hannah. She gave me a wink and turned around. I took a deep breath and got up. I slowly walked over to John. I reached out to poke him on the shoulder, but he turned around. My finger collided with his eye.
Holy shit.
"O-Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry," I stuttered. My whole body had just failed me. I watched as John rubbed his eye. "Ow.. what the... oh," he looked at me with his tearful eyes. I was shaking uncontrollably. Tears were threatening to fall any second. "I-uh...wha? My... finger... your... eye?" I was struggling to speak correctly. My first interaction with John was poking his eye.
Fucking great.
"Hello...stranger?" John awkwardly shifted in his seat. My cheeks started to heat up. "I'm so sorry for poking your eye! I just wanted to sit down here," I pointed at the seat next to him.
"Oh. Yeah, sure," he looked at me, "what's your name, anyways?" I turned to him and smiled, "it's Anne. You're John, right? I've seen you around." He smiled. "Yeah that makes sense. We have all the same classes. I've seen you a lot, but I never had a reason to talk to you."
I grinned, "What're you reading?" He closed the book and set it down, "An Abundance of Katherines. It's about a boy who only dates girls name Katherine. I recommend it." I looked at the book. "Can I see it?" I asked. He picked up the book and reached out to give t to me. When he did, our fingers touched. Suddenly, the world around us became more colorful. Everything stopped moving. I looked around and saw that everyone had different color smoke around them. I looked at John. His smoke was different. It was rainbow.
He looked around and saw the smoke. His eyes grew wide. Our fingers were still touching. When I pulled back, the colors stopped, and the world started to move again. I looked at John in shock. He had a similar expression as me. He must've seen it, too.
"What was that? You were a rainbow," I was so confused. The colors looked strange but beautiful. There was something about them that made each other indescribable. John's colors were absolutely breathtaking. He was wonderful. "You were beautiful! There were so many colors," I shuddered as I recalled the smoke.
He looked at me with wide eyes. He grabbed me hand rather forcefully, "come with me." He yanked my arm out of the classroom. I saw Hannah get up out of confusion or worry. We raced to the janitor's closet. He pushed me inside and closed the door after him. We were pushed up against each other. Our noses were almost touching. My breath hitched and I felt my cheeks heat up.
"What did you see? Tell me," he asked in a serious tone. I was a bit nervous. "Uh... there was..Uh...something like smoke around everyone. They each had their own color. It was majestic. Yours was rainbow. Each one was beautiful," I grinned. My smile dropped when I saw his expression. It was a mix of terror and shock. "No way," he breathed out.
He started to cry.
"Holy shit. What's wrong!" I asked him. He suddenly started to laugh. "Finally! My mom told me about others, but I never thought I would find one! Thank god. You don't know how much I wanted this to happen," he laughed and hugged me. "What.. are you talking about?" I asked and pushed him off of me.
"What are you talking about? What happened back there?" I was practically yelling in his face. His hand flew up to my mouth to cover it, "hush! We don't need anyone finding us. After school, you have to meet me in the literature club," he smiled at me and back up to the wall. He opened the door and climbed out. "See you later, Anne," he winked at me and went to class. I stood there, breathless.
Holy shatterbox.
