➵ Stop Being So Negative

Wolves - One Direction

"Heya, Percy. Annabeth." I waved at them, nervously chuckling. I'm in so much trouble right now. "How ya doin'?"

"You left camp, Nev." Annabeth stared at me with her stormy grey eyes. I scratched the back of my neck. "I told you, you weren't going to stay."

"Chiron and Rachel Iris Messaged us about you missing and a new prophecy. It didn't take long until we pieced it together that this new prophecy involved you." Percy said. He then shot me a lopsided grin. "How is that going so far?"

"Well, I found the pack I needed to work with. That's part of them behind me." I started, pointing to the three members behind me. The pack waved. "The True Alpha, Scott. Stiles, he's human. And Liam, who is a werewolf as well. The other ones who aren't here are Malia, a werecoyete, Lydia, she's a banshee, and guess what Percy? Kira is a part of the pack as well! She's a kitsune."

"No way! Kira from Goode Kira?" I nodded. Percy let out a chuckle. "That's cool! And what's a kitsooneh?"

"It's kitsune, actually. She's a thunder fox, right?" I turned to look at Scott.

"Yeah, she is." Scott confirmed.

"So what's going on right now? Why are you guys in the woods at night?" Annabeth asked.

"We stalked some evil guy named Theo." I shrugged.

"We don't know if he is evil, Nevah." Scott put in.

"He's evil." Stiles agreed with me. Liam nodded in agreement.

"Look, it's cool to meet you all through this misty tv thing, but I got to go meet up with Mason, I'm two hours late." Liam said, checking his phone. "See you guys later."

Liam waved goodbye and ran off into the direction of the high school. Everyone else mumbled a form of goodbye back. Stiles crossed his arms and tilted his head as he analyzed the Iris Message.

"What even is this anyway?" He questioned. Percy and I both looked over at Annabeth since she has a better chance of explaining things than the two of us combined.

"It's called an Iris Message. It allows us to communicate with other demigods and people who can see through the Mist." Annabeth explained. "This makes it a lot safer for us since using a cell phone and other forms of technology attracts monsters to us."

"Oh," Scott mumbled turning to look at me. "Is that why I haven't seen you use a cell phone?"

"Yeah, I have actually only used a phone twice, and that was during the Second Titan War a couple of months ago and yesterday to talk to Sally."

"How are you going to stay in the loop then?" Stiles asked. "We always text each other what's going on."

"I'll just get the info from one of you." I shrugged. "It can't be that hard."

"Percy! Annabeth!" I overheard Leo yell. Whirs and creaks followed. Festus.

"Gotta go!" Percy said with wide eyes, looking away from the Iris Message. He looked at me quickly with frantic eyes. "We'll finish our chat next time, okay?"

"Yeah. Yeah, got it. Go ahead and save the world." I nodded. "Stay safe guys. All of you."

"Bye!" Annabeth and Percy waved. Percy waved his hand through the Iris Message and it disappeared.

"Well....that's something you don't see every day." Stiles piped in.

"Hands on the wheel, at ten and two." Kira instructed to Malia. I sat next to her in the back of Malia's new car. The girls and I were helping Malia drive. Malia followed Kira's instructions, moving her hands into the position.

"Actually, the recommended position is now nine and three. At ten and two, a deployed airbag could break your thumbs." Lydia corrected from the passenger's seat.

"It's a good thing that I already place my hands on the wheel at nine and three then." I interrupted, letting out a chuckled. Lydia smiled at me.

"Mine would heal." Malia stated, looking at Lydia.

"Save your strength. And try not to destroy your beautiful new car." Lydia moved Malia's hands to the nine o'clock and three o'clock position. "Nine and three."

Malia's grip tightened on the steering wheel before she turned on the car. The headlights immediately turned on, showing the empty road in front of us. The car started to move forward.

"All right." Kira spoke. "Just ease into it. Good, good, okay. There you go."

"Please shut up." Malia nervously mumbled.

"No problem. Shutting up." Kira nodded, pursing her lips together. The car started to slowly drift off of the road.

"Uh, other way." Kira spoke up. I tightened my seat belt. What did I agree too? The car was now half on the road and half off.

"Other way, Malia." I piped in, hoping Malia would catch on.

"We are now off the road, this is not the road." Lydia stated. We were now fully on the grass, driving into the woods.

"Other way." Kira repeated. A beeping sound started to go off inside the car. "Malia, please go the other way."

"What is that? What is beeping?" Malia asked.

"The car's telling you not to run into the tree." Lydia explained. The car was heading straight towards a tree. My eyes widened. I instantly grabbed a hold of Kira's arm. "Turn the wheel. Malia!"

Malia swerved out of the way, going back onto the road. I released a puff of breath that I didn't realize I was holding in. I sheepishly smiled at Kira as I let her arm go. Kira sighed, trying to calm her nerves.

"And try to stay on the actual road." Kira suggested. Malia turned the wheel, causing the car to turn around to the way we came from. "Okay, sure." Kira nodded. She's much more helpful than I currently am. Malia's driving is ten times worse than when Percy first started to drive on the road. He freaked out about driving on a road with other drivers and forgot how to drive an actual car for a couple of seconds. We almost ran off the bridge. "Uh, this is called a U-turn."

"You said, 'Turn the wheel.'" Malia momentarily glancing at Kira as she made another U-turn. Lydia had her head against her hand with her lips pressed tightly together.

"Maybe you should press a little harder on the gas," Lydia softly said. Malia stepped on the gas. Kira let out a shriek and we both held onto the seats in front of us.

"Whoa!"

"Okay, just turn up here." Lydia pointed forward. The car jerked as Malia turned the wheel. "No, no, no, slowly, slowly." Malia slowed down into a stop. "Go."

"Anybody want to tell me where we're going?" Kira asked. Malia let go of the brakes and pressed the gas pedal.

"I'm still new to this town, so I have to clue." I put in.

"The school. We can finish with parking practice in the lot." Lydia informed. Malia glanced at Lydia with confusion. We were now on a bridge, the city lights coming into view.

"Lydia, we're actually heading downtown." Kira looked forward. Lydia turned towards Kira and I before facing forward again.

"I've never been downtown." I smiled. I'm finally heading downtown. Wait, the school is closer to the woods. We are going the opposite way. "Wait, yeah, the school isn't downtown."

"What?" Lydia asked.

"If we want to go to the school we should do a U-turn. Shouldn't we?" Kira offered.

"No." Lydia whispered. "Keep going."

"You sure?" Malia asked.

"Yes." Lydia breathed out. "We're almost there."

"Is this a banshee moment?" I looked over at Lydia. She pursed her lips and slowly nodded her head. Lydia was still staring ahead. "Oh...cool."

Malia pulled the car to a stop near to what seemed to be an underpass. We all got out of the car and walked towards a weirdly parked police van. The head lights were still on and the back door was open. Someone's shaking bloodied hand caught my attention, taking my eyes away from the van. My breath got caught in the back of my throat. Lydia inched closer, the rest of us stopping.

"Call 911." Lydia swallowed.

Sirens echoed throughout the area. A police officer was interrogating the four of us. I turned around at the sound of people walking behind me. Scott and Stiles moved out of the way for the gurney holding an injured man. They glanced at each other.

"What else did you girls notice?" The officer asked. I looked back at the officer, his hand hovering the pen over the notepad filled with our statements.

"Just that some of the men looked like they weren't moving." I shakily said. The officer nodded and wrote down some more notes. "The rest, it's like a blur. I couldn't think of anything else other than those men not moving. They're okay, right?"

"That's okay ma'am. Anything else? Ladies?" He looked at the other girls who shook their head no. The officer closed his notepad and clicked his pen. "Okay, that is all. Thank you."

I felt a sudden breeze rush past us. Furrowing my eyebrows, I angled my head to see Scott running off with a walkie-talkie in his hand. The officer walked away, leaving the four of us alone. I sighed, rubbing my face.

"Well that was exhausting. How do you guys answer questions like that all of the time?" I questioned.

"We're just used to it, I guess." Lydia shrugged, her long curls bouncing at the motion.

"How about you though? You said you have been in fights and battles. You guys never got caught?" Kira curiously asked me.

"I mean, we try our best not to get caught. We usually run away before any authority could catch us. Trying to make a cover story for fighting Greek monsters and titans isn't exactly a fun thing to do. There have been some instances to where we've been on the news and on the wanted list." I stated, shoving my hands into my pockets.

"Oh." Malia nodded. "That sounds way easier than answering questions. You know...not the getting caught part and being on the wanted list."

"Right?" I gave a lopsided grin. Malia grinned back at me, throwing an arm over my shoulder. The four of us all walked over to Stiles, the Sherriff, and Parrish.

"Scott, is that you?" Parrish asked through the radio.

"Yeah, I found Donovan." Scott replied. "He's completely freaked out. He keeps saying some name."

"What name?" Sherriff Stilinski spoke into the radio.

"Theo." Stiles mumbled out. I looked at him curiously. Theo? It could be him. He is evil. I know it.

"Tracy. He keeps saying Tracy." Scott's voice came through the radio again.

"Tracy who?" Sherriff asked again.

"Stewart." Lydia said. We all looked at her. "Tracy Stewart."

"Tracy wasn't just having trouble sleeping." Lydia paced around. "It was a real disorder. It was night terrors."

"Well, now she's the night terror." Stiles said, leaning against the hood of the yellow school bus. "Especially since no one can find her."

"Okay, I know we're all tired and miserable." Scott looked over at Mason. "Except for you."

"Oh. I'm sorry." Mason grinned. "This is all just mind-blowing. You're a kitsune. I don't even know what that is."

"I'm still learning." Kira told Mason.

"And you." Mason turned to me. "You're a Greek demigod. How cool is that!?"

"Uh." Is all I could say in response.

"Liam, we said you could tell him. Not invite him to the inner circle." Liam looked at Stiles with a puppy face.

"Uh, I'm in the inner circle?" Mason pointed to himself.

"No." Liam and Stiles both replied.

"Guys, don't be so mean." I scolded them.

"Guys, look, back to Tracy. She's just one lone wolf. We can find her." Scott optimistically inputted.

"One lone serial-killing wolf." Malia stated.

"You missy, are a ray of sunshine aren't you?" I sassily stated, waving my finger at her. Tapping my foot from nerves, I sighed. "Stop with the negativity, okay? You guys are so negative."

"Uh, she only killed one person, you know, the other two were mauled." Stiles corrected Malia. "All right, what do we do when we catch her?"

"I say we put her down." I gave Malia a look.

"Does nobody listen to me? I said no negative stuff!" I exasperated. Everyone in the pack all looked at Scott. Mason looked back and forth between Scott and Malia in awe.

"Intense." Mason nodded.

"Guys, let's concentrate on catching her first. We'll figure out the rest later." Scott lastly said.
