➵ Negative Nancy
▸ Across the Sea - Weezer
"Mrs. Jones?" I raised my hand. The teacher sighed and looked at me. "Can I go use the bathroom?"
"Hurry up."
I gave her a smile and quickly walked out of the classroom. Walking through the empty hallway towards the girl's bathroom, I saw Liam hide behind a wall a few feet away. Why was he hiding behind a wall? Why this classroom? Wait, isn't that part od the pack's and Theo's class? Liam was saying something under his breath.
"Liam?" I whispered. He looked up at me as I silently walked closer. "What's wrong?"
"Scott, she's here. She's in History class right now." Liam muttered. "Tracy. She's here."
It looked like the teacher wouldn't leave Scott alone. He needed to get out of that class to go help Tracy. I licked my lips anxiously and looked over at the bathroom that I was supposed to go to. My eyes then drifted over to the water fountains across from it. An idea popped into my head.
"Nevah? What are you planning?" Liam whispered to me.
"Liam, go be a good boy, and pull that fire alarm when you see the sign." I smirked, running closer to the bathroom. He looked confused but ran over to the fire alarm. I slightly raised my hand and clenched it, feeling the normal tug in my gut.
WOOSH! CLANK! THUNK!
Water was now flooding out of the girl's bathroom, rushing under the door and into the hallway. The water fountain's spout flew off, water gushing. Liam's eyes widened and he immediately pulled the fire alarm. Students and teachers quickly walked out of their classrooms and crowded the hall. I shoved my way through the crowd to find Scott and Liam. I caught them entering Mr.Yukimura's classroom a few yards away from me. Following suit, I ran after them.
"Oh!" I halted into a stop as soon as I stepped into the classroom. Tracy had her hand wrapped around a girl's wrist, claws drawing blood.
"Tracy, let her go." Scott softly demanded, inching closer to her.
"They're coming." Tracy breathed out. She let go of the girl's wrist. The girl immediately clutching her wound. "They're coming for all of us."
Tracy fell forward onto the floor with her eyes open. A silver metallic substance spilling from her lips. Is that mercury? Scott quickly scooped Tracy up into his arms, rushing out of the classroom. I was right next to him, holding Tracy's neck to keep her from choking on the silver liquid. Stiles and Malia ran up to us.
▷
"Pupils dilate under normal conditions." Dr. Deaton examined Tracy. She was lying unconscious on top of a metal table. However, Tracy was breathing hard. "Heart rate is 250. Evidence of an allogeneic skin graft on the right shoulder. Now, this silver substance at her lips is not something I've seen. It almost looks like mercury."
"That's what I thought." I nodded, pinching my lower lip between my fingers.
"Uh, can't you just give her a shot or something?" Malia asked.
"She doesn't look to be in any pain." Dr. Deaton noted.
"I meant a shot to kill her." Malia emphasized.
"And here we go again with the negative stuff." I mumbled. Stiles blinked at Malia with his lips pressed tightly together. "I'm going to start calling you Negative Nancy, Malia."
"I generally prescribe to a code of ethics that frowns on such measures." Dr. Deaton responded.
"Malia, you know we're not going to do that." Scott said.
"How do you know she's not going to kill us?" Malia shot back.
"She makes a decent point." Stiles pointed at Malia. "Either way, eventually I'm going to have to let my dad know she's here."
"Agreed. And while I may argue against euthanasia, I'm not opposed to a little," Deaton grabbed a jar fill with ash-looking substance. He opened the jar. "Extra security."
The vet threw the black contents at the room's entrance. The ash formed a straight line at the entrance.
▷
"Don't worry, Stiles. Tracy won't be able to cross a line of mountain ash. She's not going anywhere." Dr. Deaton tried to assure Stiles.
"Yeah, that's kind of what I'm afraid of." Stiles responded.
"Well, you, and I will be able to get out of here no problem. You three," Deaton looked between Scott, Malia and I. "Not so much."
"Wait, this mountain ash stuff also affects me?" I asked.
"Technically, you are considered a supernatural since you are not fully human." Deaton informed.
"Oh. How wonderful." I mumbled. Malia nudged me, jerking her head towards the Mountain Ash. She moved her hand towards the barrier, only for it to be pressed against an invisible force field. Blue ripples surrounded her hand. Shocked, Malia jerked her hand back. I stared at the fading ripples with wide eyes.
"Weird." She said, staring where the blue ripples were.
"Scott, would you mind holding her down. I'm going to be trying a few more invasive tests." I turned around to see Dr. Deaton holding a scalpel. Is he going to cut her? Scott and Stiles held down Tracy's arms. My eyes widened. Yup, he is. Dr. Deaton pressed the blade against Tracy's forearm, dragging it down. I shied away, expecting a gash to appear. To my surprise, the sharp knife didn't even leave a scratch. A soft clink sounded and Dr. Deaton held up a broken scalpel.
"I think you're gonna need a bigger blade."
▷
"Now, this is interesting." Dr. Deaton said. I pushed myself off of the brick wall and walked up next to him. Tracy had her head titled to the side, her neck showing a vein pulsing and squirming around slightly.
"What is that?" I asked. Dr. Deaton pressed her neck, the area yielding the vein moving once again. Deaton drew back his hand rapidly.
"Malia, Nevah, help me turn her over, please." Malia walked up next to me. The three of us gently turned her over onto her stomach. Deaton cut the back of her sweater to expose her back.
"I think I know what she is." Stiles spoke loudly.
"Do you care to enlighten the rest of us? Because this doesn't look too good."
Scott and Stiles walked up to the table, looking at Tracy's back. Her spine was moving like a snake. It was basically slithering under her skin. My lips curled up in disgust. What's happening to her? Deaton pressed his fingers to her back, Tracy's spine avoiding his touch.
"What are you doing? That's gross!" I muttered. As soon as I said that, Tracy's back split open, blood spraying on our faces. I sputtered, trying to get the blood off of my lips. Tray's spine was now visible, the bone moving around. Within seconds, a tail came out of her split back, slashing Stiles' chest. Stiles cried out, falling onto the ground.
I jumped back, crouching to avoid her tail. The tail cut Deaton, causing him to stumble to the floor. Tracy jumped onto her feet, crouching on the metal table. She whipped her tail at Malia, cutting her wrist. Malia fell, releasing a small cry. Tracy then clawed Scott, scratching his cheek. He too, joined the others on the ground. I pressed my charm, my blade now in my hand.
"Tracy." I said, pointing my sword at her. She faced me and hissed, jumping off of the table.
"Nevah." Scott warned. I ignored him, keeping my attention on Tracy. Her fangs were glistening from her saliva. She growled, running towards me. "Nevah!"
Claws extended, Tracy swiped her hands at me. I twisted my sword, deflecting her claws. A gooey clear substance was dripping off of her fingers. She drew her hand back, ready to strike. I reacted immediately, somersaulting to the side. Tracy stumbled forwards as she missed me.
"Hey, what's happening?" Stiles anxiously asked. "Nevah? Nevah, what are you doing?"
"Tracy." I called out again. She seemed to be in some sort of daze. "Tracy!"
Tracy jumped, circling her arms around my waist and pushing me through the mountain ash. How? I don't quite know, nor do I care at the moment. I cried out in pain as I landed on my back. My sword clattered out of my hand, only a few centimeters from my fingertips. Tracy was now straddling my waist, hissing. Her tail was twitching behind her. Tracy's clawed hand shot towards my throat, gripping it tight.
"Tracy!" I gasped out. My hands went straight for her wrist, trying to tug it off. She squeezed tighter, causing me to cough and wheeze. Letting my instincts kick in, I wrapped my legs around Tracy's neck, pulling her back. She immediately let go and tried wrapping her hands around my ankles. Tracy gasped and wheezed, sending a glare my way.
"Nevah! What's going on?" I ignored the voice and sat up, unwrapping Tracy's leg's from my waist. Tracy hissed at me, her tail swinging towards my face. I shrieked and dove to the side, my legs letting go of Tracy. Her tail managed to scrape my arm, leaving a small gash. I hissed in pain, clutching my wound. "Nevah!?"
Tracy jumped off of me and ran out the door. A weird numbing feeling starting to take a toll on my body. What did she do to me?
"You okay?" Malia asked, eyeing my bleeding wound.
"I'm fine." I sighed, looking up at the ceiling.
"It wasn't a werewolf." Stiles breathed out.
"Kanima." Scott muttered.
▷
"Hey, Deaton, how the hell did she get through the mountain ash?" Stiles asked.
"I don't know. It's a barrier no supernatural creature should be able to cross." Deaton said.
"Scott did it."
"I just did." I grumpily stated.
"Once, but it almost killed me." Scott breathed out.
"We should've killed her." Malia seethed.
"Malia." I scolded. I huffed, getting irritated. Not being able to move is mentally and physically screwing me up. It's causing me severe anguish. Stupid ADHD.
"Meanwhile, she's probably on her way to killing someone else." Stiles stated.
"Listen, everyone. We need to concentrate. Scott and Malia, you two will probably be able to move long before Stiles, Nevah and I can. But you need to focus." Dr. Deaton informed. My wound was aching. Blood was now covering my hand.
"Focus on what?" Malia asked.
"Healing." Scott told Malia.
"That's right."
"I don't know how to tell my body to heal." Malia stressed.
"Malia, calm down. It's okay." Stiles tried to assure his girlfriend.
"I can't calm down. I can't move." Malia gritted through her teeth..
"Well neither can we." I huffed out. This is getting even more uncomfortable.
"It won't last long. We're going to be okay." Scott calmly said. "Doc, how do we focus?"
"Think of a body part. Your hands, your feet, even jus the tips of your fingers. Imagine them moving. See it in your mind and your body will follow."
▷
"Okay. I'm pretty sure I just felt my right leg move. Uh, yep, definitely felt it. Like a twinge, a spasm, something." Stiles informed us.
"I'm going to have to disagree. And I think I hold an informed opinion." Deaton said.
"Malia." Scott sighed out. What? Is she okay? Is something wrong?
"I don't think she cut me that deep." Malia breathed up happily.
"Keep going. Keep moving." Deaton instructed. Grunts and panting echoed throughout the room.
"Are you doing it?" I asked. "Is she doing it?"
"What's happening? I can't see." Stiles questioned. "What's happening? Malia? Malia, wait for us."
"There's no time." Malia panted out.
"Look, she's not a werewolf." Stiles argued.
"But she has a scent. I can find her." Malia countered.
"Malia. Save her."
▷
The sound of the front door chime went off, footsteps following it. Theo's face popped up into my eyesight. I glared at him. He ignored me, picking me up to my feet. His arms were wrapped around my waist as he dragged me to the table Tracy was previously at.
"No, no, no." I protested, trying to get out of Theo's arms. I thrashed, my head bumping into his chin. Theo gently leaned me against the table, eyeing my wound. "I'm fine, just help the others."
Theo nodded and went to help Scott up. Scott slowly stood up with Theo's help and placed his hands on the table.
"How did you find us?" Scott asked.
"'Cause you work here. I heard about Tracy, I've been looking for you." Theo grabbed Stiles, struggling to get him to the table. Stiles leaned against the table, squinting.
"We lost her." Scott informed Theo.
"And Malia." Stiles panted out.
"I can help." Theo offered. He noticed Deaton was still on the ground and helped him up.
"How about no?" I glared at Theo.
"This is Theo?" Dr. Deaton asked Scott.
"Let me help. It doesn't have to mean I'm part of the pack. Or like you've accepted me or anything like that. It just means I can help catch this girl." Scott looked over at Stiles before looking at Dr. Deaton and I. "Scott. I can help you."
