Chapter 24:Gracie's Point of View
I nervously sit at the table as I wait for Liam to come back from the restroom. Almost as soon as we received are menus he had politely excused himself. I feel my hands grip the menu as I feel the time pass by. It's been a few minutes. I rest my menu on the table and smooth down my dress; trying to stop my hands from fidgeting and trembling. I crane my head behind me to try and catch a glimpse of the men's room. Instead of seeing the restroom, I spot Liam leaning against a distant wall. I smile, about to go back to my menu; but then I see the reason he's standing there. I see a girl dressed in a skimpy red dress chatting him up. I frown, but continue watching from my seat. I watch as she steps even closer to him and rests her hand on his arm. He smiles at her and pulls out an object. He then grabs her hand and writes something on it with what I assume is a pen. It must be a phone number. I stand from my seat, letting my napkin crumple to the ground. I give Liam one last glance, and I can really see him. How easily he flirts with random girls. Random girls like me. I see him smirking at the other girl and suddenly he's not so perfect anymore. I stalk outside of the restaurant and hail a taxi. I guess good looks and easy words don't make a person so perfect after all. When the taxi brings me back to the dorm rooms I suddenly realize something. I didn't bring any money. Soon after I realize this crucial information the taxi pulls into the parking lot. The driver turns off the car and stares at me expectantly. I uncomfortably text everyone in the dorms to help me and avoid his gaze.
"Where's my money, Hun?" I shiver as the taxi drivers grizzly face forms a grin.
"Umm..."
"What?"
"I don't have any." The driver looks really angry for a second; but the angry quickly subsides into a smirk.
"I think we can work out some... Other way for me to pay you." I shiver again and I feel my hands tremble a little.
"I-if you just wait a minute one of my friends will bring me money..."
"I don't have that much time baby. Clime up here." He gestures to his lap and I freeze.
"J-j-just give me a-another minute." The drivers expression becomes stern.
"I said now." I slowly crouch in the car as my entire body stars to uncontrollably shake. I don't want this. Suddenly there's a pounding on the drivers window. The driver reluctantly turns his attention to it and rolls his window down.
"Here's your damn money. Gracie get out of there." I see Michael standing next to the car with his hand thrust in front of him, holding money. I scramble out of the car as quickly as I can. The taxi driver sighs irritably; but takes the money and drives away. "Gracie are you ok?" I look into his amazing eyes in relief.
"Yeah. I'm fine." Michael wraps his arms around me and guides me to my room.
"Do you need me to stay with you."
"No Michael. I'm fine. Nothing happened." He runs a hand through his hair and slowly backs away.
"Ok... But text me if you need anything."
"Ok Michael." I roll my eyes; but it's kinda nice to see him like this around me but no one else. I smile and open my door to find a sleeping Abby and Gerard trying to fit together on a twin bed. I roll my eyes yet again and head to the bathroom to change. I come back and collapse on my own bed. I don't mean to, but I fall asleep thinking about Michael and how he's too over protective. But maybe that's what I need; not perfection.
