C14 : Different
SHE SENT ME THE location for me to see her. It was still very early in the morning; 6:45 a.m because I decided to come earlier that what we had deal. I always tell people to not come late because I hate waiting so, I have to be early as well because I don't want to be included in the group of people who only knows to demand but them, themselves don't even want to do it. That kind of person is annoying and not professional.
The surrounding was quite empty as I could only see a few people here, some were getting their breakfast at the stall, some were jogging and the rest were just chatting to each other while enjoying the morning air. Today's environment was slightly different as I could feel the fresh cold air gently hitting my bare face.
Such a nice weather of today. I closed my eyes while walking around the park and I had all my focus on the sound of the birds chirping. It really helped me to lessen my stress.
As I was walking towards the big tree to have a seat while waiting for Hyerin to show up, a familiar voice suddenly caught my attention, making me to seek for it. I was pretty sure that the voice I was hearing was Hyerin's voice.
"Can't you just go away? You're literally disturbing me, " I heard she complaining about something and I knew that something wasn't right so once I saw her figure, I quickly made my way to her. "You—" she was about to say something but when she sensed that I was standing beside her, she discontinued her words and moved closer to me. "Sir Jeon." She called my name formally.
I looked at the guy who I assumed was bothering her. "Who's this?" I asked and looked at him up and down. She was hesitated to answer me.
The guy frowned and looked at Hyerin who was standing beside me for protection. "Is this your friend you're talking about? A guy, huh?" The guy said, his voice sounded slightly abusive and I didn't like the way he slightly raised his voice at her.
I stepped forward and opened my mouth to cut him off but suddenly, Hyerin stood beside me and with her confident look, she focused on the guy and without any hesitation in her voice, she said something that I'd never imagine she'd say. "Who said he's my friend? He's my boyfriend. Jeon Jungkook," then, my brain suddenly stopped functioning.
The guy's expression changed right away as if he couldn't accept what had spitted out from her mouth. He looked surprised and annoyed at the same time. "Wtf are you trying to do? This man is your boyfriend? Isn't he's too handsome for you?" He said in disbelief but the last sentence had me annoyed and somehow pissed off.
"Excuse me, what did you just say? So you're trying to say that she's not pretty? Shame on you for saying things like that when she's the prettiest woman on earth for me. No one can ever say those words to my girl, not on my watch, man." I stepped forward as I made my way to him.
As he watched me walking closer to him, he noticed that my body was bigger than him and I have a pretty well built body meanwhile his body was nothing compared to me. "You." I pointed my finger at him, "Why are you bothering her? " I asked with fierceness in my voice.
I could say that he was scared but in order to look tough in front of Hyerin, he gulped down then cleared his throat. "She used to work with me, so what?" He scoffed in such an annoying way. I could sense disrespectful and I didn't like it.
"So what?" I repeated his sentence and scoffed. "You really ask for it," I held his clothes and was ready to punch him but Hyerin stopped me very quickly as if she already knew that I was going to punch this rude guy.
She looked at him then said, "You should just go, Daniel. I don't want to cause any trouble." She told him as she gestured me to release him. If she didn't stop me, I'd just settle this boy down and make sure he'll never get to walk again.
"It's okay, just let him go, he's not a trouble." She said softly as I slowly let him go. But before I let him go properly, I looked at him and warned him to not bothering her again or else I'll find him no matter what.
"Keep my words, you loser." I said as he ran away.
After making sure that the guy was nowhere to be seen, I turned back to Hyerin who had an uneasy expression on her face then went closer to her. "Are you okay?" I asked, somehow sounding concern.
To be true, I was actually being concern because she looked kinda upset after what happened. "Hey, are you okay?" I waved my hand in front of her face and she finally blinked her eyes as if she just got into the reality.
"I— am fine, thanks." She said and walked away without saying anything to me. Oh, did it mean that she was mad or something? I'm not used to this and I didn't understand women sign. Am I supposed to convince her now? Oh well, the least I could at this moment was just to chase for her.
"Hyerin, wait!" I yelled and ran to her.
Feeling awkward and didn't know the exact thing I should do, I watched her from afar who was sitting on the bench while staring down at her shoes. I was really out of idea as I failed to figure out what should I do at the moment. She was looking kinda sad but I didn't know why but the main thing I could think was; the man earlier. I think he had said something that hurt her feelings.
Slowly, I made my way towards her then sat down. She sensed my presence then looked at me. "I'm sorry, Sir." She said as her voice trailed off and her eyes were sad. The dark hazel eyes that I admire were sad and it slightly affected me as well.
I tried to understand what she was feeling as I scooted closer to her. "Are you sad because of the guy earlier?" I asked but as predicted, she won't answer me but I understand why she didn't. With a sigh being heaved, I shortened the distance between our shoulders and kept my eyes glued on her. I was mentally nervous because I rarely been this close to a girl.
Yes, I've to admit that I've slept with some girls but the girl in front of me now is different. She, Kim Hyerin— is different. The way I think about her and the way I see her is— different, unlike the others. I've to say that I respect her as a woman because she never show me any sign that shows that she's a gold digger or something. She's a girl who can think rationally and speak wisely although she doesn't have any degree certification because she was out of money to continue her studies. But a piece of degree, master or PhD doesn't determine who you are. But the way you act does.
That makes me to respect her as a woman and a person. "Why are you upset?" My voice was low and soft.
She looked a bit surprised when she was thrown the question by me. Maybe she didn't expect that such question from me. But then, she shrugged her emotions off then shook her head to say that she was fine. "No, I'm absolutely fine. Just a bit shocked by what happened. Sorry for troubling you, Sir." She said and stood up right away.
"It's already 7:00 a.m. shall we start our morning now?"
Then there she was, after facing such a rough situation, she still put on her sweet smile on her face, not wanting other people to know her problems. She was strong. I smiled, "Okay," I said and didn't think to ask her any further because it might ruin her mood.
She hides all her problems behind her smile. Behind her smile— is a world of hurt and pain. You may think you know her, but you really have no idea of what's going on her mind.
"So first of all, have you eaten yet?" She asked me, her voice, her expression and her mood was absolutely different. The sad Hyerin was gone within a few seconds.
"Oh, uhm—" I didn't know how to respond because the way she asked me reminded me of my mom. I was absolutely not used to this kind of conversation where my worker talks to me like a family member. This is unusual for me but I wanted to get used to it since I'm comfortable to be around her. "Actually I haven't eaten anything yet since I went here right away after waking up." I confessed.
She nodded her head then looked around. "Since I'm the one who in charge for today's activity, can I bring you to my favourite— stall? I mean, it's not a five star restaurant so are you okay with that?" She asked.
I frowned, "Well I'm fine. I don't eat at five star restaurant everyday for breakfast for your information." I stated. Why should she thinks people like me would like to have food from high branded restaurants when I'd just prefer to prepare my own breakfast?
She laughed. "Alright whatever, let's go over there to get you some food." She said and we went to a small stall beside the park.
She sat down right away after we reached the stall because there were a lot of people there and she wanted us to get the seat. "Come here, sit fast!" She gestured as she helped to keep my seat for me. I was blur by what was happening but then sat across her.
"Good job, now let's order our food."
I looked around my surrounding and spotted that there were a plethora of people there which I wasn't used to it. I always keep on mind that I don't like crowded places.
"Sir, are you okay? Or do you want to—"
I cut her off before she could finish her sentence. "No, it's okay. I'm fine, let's just eat here." I smiled and turned to face her. She probably could sense that I wasn't being comfortable but I didn't want her to think that I'm a choosy person. Besides, all stalls and restaurants are just the same. They still serve food.
She nodded and I was about to ask her where was the menu but suddenly, she raised her hand up and called for the waiter who was supposed to take our orders. A teenage boy around 15 or 16 came to us and took out his small notebook and a pen. "What would you like to eat?" He asked informally, unlike the other waiters I met at restaurants.
Hyerin turned to me and asked, "What would you like to eat, Sir?" She asked and I became nervous.
"Is there— no menu?"
The both of them looked at me with weird expressions as if they couldn't believe that I really asked for a menu at a stall. She leaned closer to the table so that she can whisper to me. "They don't provide menus at a stall, Sir." She told me.
Oh I see now.
I looked at her, "So what they have here?"
Hearing my question, she knew that I didn't know what to order. "Can I just order your food? I think you'll like it," she said.
Thank God she got me covered. I nodded my head in relief. "Yes, please."
Then, she ordered bibimbap for us. Surprisingly, it was my favourite food and I had no idea where did she find out about it. I smiled silently as I watched her talking to the boy. Then, she looked at me. "Are you okay with bibimbap?"
With a smile on my face, "More than okay."
"Okay, that's all. Thank you." She said to the boy and he walked away to get our orders ready. She was so sweet with the boy— the way she talked to him was soft and polite although he was just a teenager. That depicted that she has respect to everyone no matter how old are them.
Sorry that say but that behaviour is what the society needs. Honestly.
10:30 a.m.
We spent almost 2 hours and 30 minutes to jog around the park and now, she decided to stop by a bench to have a rest. "You're tired already? How quick," I mocked her.
She looked at me in annoyance. "You're a man, Sir. Don't compare your energy with me. Besides you go jogging everyday so you've s strong stamina." She breathed quite heavily then she gulped down her water.
"Well, I'll take that as a compliment." I winked playfully and sat beside her. We did a lot of activities today. Not only eat and jogging, but she also brought me to socialize with some random people.
I didn't know that we could also talk to someone we don't know. Hyerin is actually a very friendly person. Everytime she sees an old woman or anyone who was walking alone, she'd always throw a smile and greet them.
That was such a kind action. I had never think to ever talk to anyone I don't know but today, she taught me something new and I really had fun. We played with someone's dog at the park, enjoying the fresh air, trying some streets food and even play at the playground with some kids.
But I didn't really enjoy playing with the kids because they were too loud. But at least, Hyerin enjoyed her moment playing with the kids.
"You wanna have some ice cream?" She asked out of the blue.
"Erm, it's okay." I refused but then, I heard her chuckling at the back.
"It's alright Sir. You can use my money." She laughed. Yes, I didn't know that these stalls only use cash and not cards so I only brought my card with me. How dumb I was and it was embarrassing to use girls money for my stuff.
I scratched my head. "It's quite embarrassing, you know?" I said awkwardly.
"It's just food, Sir. Come on, let's get our ice creams!" She said with full of excitement in her voice. She was always excited whenever it comes to food.
