CODE 55 Over
Evelyn stood on his board, doing an ollie while Ben and Slaine stood at the railings with a beer can in their hands. A few empty beer cans lay on the floor.
"Evelyn Benjamin, huh? It never occurred to me."
"Well, you take after your father's surname afterall." Evelyn still had the same smile.
"How did you make those goddamn emotion chips? They fucked me up so bad."
Ben laughed, "Thought I'd need some loyal human like companions."
"I see. Also, why could I breathe underwater?"
"You get infected when you stay with me, but then you recover as quickly so it's no big deal."
"I saw some unique aquatic creature in your lab. What was that? Looked like a squid."
"Oh, that's my other half. Kastrians have two bodies, this one you can see and the other one. We can teleport from one to another whenever we want."
"Oh, I see."
Ben hesitated a bit but finally decided to bring it up, "Actually, this isn't my real body either. I've covered it with a mask. But, I want you to see what I really look like."
Evelyn removed his shirt and pulled out his skin. Slaine stared at him.
"What are you thinking?" Ben asked.
"I can't believe a planet like yours exists-- Which beholds such beautiful creatures. I can imagine how mesmerising the sea would look, when one can see you all floating in it, especially at night."
Ben smiled,
"Beautiful creatures? Nobody has ever called us that."
"That doesn't make you less beautiful. How is it your fault if people are blind to recognise the beauty that lives in you?"
Ben seemed sad and wore his skin back again.
"Dad, I have to go back now." He said.
"To the future? But why? Nothing much is left there anymore." Slaine said.
"So, I'll protect what is left."
"Why don't you just stay here with us? I swear you'll be happier. Everyone here loves you."
"I wish I could. But, I'm sorry. I can't. I have to fix everything that I messed up. Maybe after that, I'll come back to you. I want to live with you too."
"So, will you all go?"
"Yes. All of us. I'll seal the ANDROIDS back into their technical chambers—Where they would be safe for centuries to come until another war breaks out."
"Even Asselyum?"
Evelyn smiled, "Yes, even Asselyum."
"Can't she stay here? With me?"
"I can't." Asselyum stood at the door and he turned back.
"Asselyum." She walked towards him.
"You have to chose," She said, "Either you have me as your lover or Evelyn as your son. You can't have both since Ben is my creator. You have to abandon one of us."
Slaine looked at Ben, "It's your decision to make." He smiled. He looked at Asselyum. Evelyn looked at him and so did Ben. He looked at Ben and then at Asselyum. He smiled and turned towards Evelyn.
"Evelyn,"
"Yes, dad?"
"Do you want dad to be happy?"
"More than anything else." Evelyn smiled and grabbed his jeans, "I love you, dad,"
Slaine smiled, "I love you too,"
He looked at Ben,
"I'm sorry, Ben."
"No, it's okay—"
"I chose you again."
Ben looked at him.
"Evelyn," Slaine sat on his haunches, "Are you fine if it's just you and me? I might never be able to get you a mom,"
"I said I love you, what does a mom gotta do in that?" Evelyn pressed his palms on Slaine's red cheeks, "Just dad and I are perfect,"
"Aww," Slaine kissed his forehead, "Yes we are,"
Ben looked away.
Slaine looked at Asselyum.
"I love you enough to let you go."
She smiled, "I'd be sad if you chose me though,"
"You rejected me before, your loss," Slaine smirked.
Ben hugged Slaine's back,
"You deserve better," He whispered into his ear.
"Shut the fuck up,"
Ben smiled and squeezed Slaine gently.
"Give yourself more credit for how far you've come," Slaine said.
"Yes, dad,"
As dawn struck the horizon, they all stood at the terrace, under the time machine. The time portal opened to the future.
"I want you to follow me to the other side," Ben said.
"All of us?" Slaine asked.
"Yes."
So, they just followed them to the future. They were at the peak of the Mechapolis tower. Ben reached its end and stood at the top of a pole.
"People of Mechapolis," His voice amplified on its own. That pole was actually a huge Mike. "The war is over and you have won. The curfew is hence ended." He heard happy little celebrations within the homes and everyone came out on the streets, screaming Ben's name.
"Long live Ben! Live your Mechapolis!
Long live Ben! Live your Mechapolis!"
They loved him from their heart but still Ben looked a little sad.
"Ben?" Slaine moved towards him.
"Sometimes," Ben spoke and everyone turned quiet, "Sometimes, we have to do bad things to get good results. When that happens, people forget all the good things you did. I have done bad deeds. I made X-DROIDS and to fix that mistake I made ANDRIODs. I have been lying to you people for quite some time now.
I did it for a revenge because I've been backstabbed by those I needed the most. I've been lied to by those I love. And I have felt alone when I couldn't afford to be. I raised a war against someone who is dead and so many people died because of my childishness and immaturity.
You know what, I've changed. I'm not as nice as I used to be because I didn't want to get used or walked over. I didn't trust anyone anymore. I distanced myself from people because, in the end, I thought they were only going to leave. I changed because I realised that I was the only person I could depend on.
Some people aren't good at asking for help because they're so used to being 'the helper'. Throughout their life, they have experienced an unbalanced give and take, so their instinct is usually, "I'll figure it out on my own,". The self-reliance is all they've ever known and that is what breaks them--Slowly but surely.
But after so many years of turmoil, I have learned that don't let this world make you bitter. Don't let the actions of other people turn you cold on the inside. Certain things happen that hurt us, people come that leave us, and most of all there are moments when you're bound to fall. Don't let those things make you unkind. It's okay to cry. It's okay to be sad. But it's never okay to do other people wrong just because you were done wrong.
We are human, well at least you guys are. We break. We make mistakes. But don't let pain and sadness run your lives. Wake up in the morning and do what you think is right. There are moments in your life where you feel like giving up and you can't take it anymore; it's okay. Breathe. Inhale. Exhale. But just breathe.
I know you're weak. But the things that show your weak side are also the same ones that make you feel stronger in the long run. It's all about taking whatever life throws at you and learning from it. I'm sorry I made you suffer. I'm ready for whatever punishment comes my way." He bowed before them.
"Oh Ben..." Asselyum whispered. Everyone was quiet as if they were hit by death. He smiled as the police wrapped the shackles around his hands. He walked towards Slaine and looked at Evelyn, "Please make sure that this time," He looked into Slaine's eyes, "I don't grow up into what I am today. Raise me into a good person, dad."
Slaine nodded.
"Riley has to stay with us. We can't leave any X-DROID in a world where ANDROIDS don't exist." Lucifer said.
"We'll miss you!" Denis hugged Riley.
"Denis—My ribs—"
"I'll miss you." Frank smiled.
"You didn't say "we"...That's kinda gay,"
"Oh, shut it,"
Ben smiled and Slaine stared at him as everyone else left for the past through the portal. He stood at the portal,
"Are we not going to meet again?" Slaine asked. Ben smiled and walked away.
"You still have me with you though," He said, "And I will always love you,"
Slaine smiled back. "I love you too, Evelyn." And he jumped. The time tunnel showed all his memories as he passed through it.
The ANDRIODs were free now. Mr Vincent was arrested under section 775—Exploitation of X-DROID resources and attempt to murder. Lucifer removed the clouds from the sky and Mechapolis saw the sun again after six years. The world government dissolved and five Monarchies were set up, each ruled by ANDROIDs.
Ben decided to abolish research. Deep inside, he was still waiting for that spaceship to come to get him. The court trials began. Visiting the court and his lawyer frequently became the standard part of Ben's life for the next two years.
Each of the boys received a packet of few thousand dollars by Mr James as a reward for their contribution in the war. They could finally go back home.
Jimmy went back home. His mother was shocked to see her dead son stand before her. He took the company back from his cousin.
Axel went back to Philadelphia, and convinced his father to shift to New York with him. His father found a new job at a veterany hospital. Whereas he used the money to feed all those skateboarders who asked him for a treat.
Lupin went back home and his parents cried the moment they saw him. After two years, he was out of the rehabilitation centre and continued his studies to become a technician in the army.
Denis used the money for pursuing his studies in a medical college whereas Frank invested that money in the share market and soon opened his own business.
Slaine brought a new house and Evelyn moved in with him. He decided to become a skateboard instructor while Evelyn started going to school. Though, his passion for skateboarding only grew as years passed. Evelyn was excellent at studies--Well, that didn't surprise Slaine.
He was raising a future genius afterall. A genius that created an entire city, ruled an entire system and brought the entire humanity
Down to its knees.
That night, Slaine was alone at his place. He sat with a guitar he had just started learning how to play. He looked outside at the dim moon, covered by the clouds and played a melody,

He took a deep breath
"Why am I lying to myself...I'm still not over you. I'm not where I want to be,"
