Isn't it just grand when you're reading a shoujo/romance manga and all you want is for the heroine to fall for the love interest's friend, instead of the actual love interest?

This happens all the fucking time with me, it's ridiculous. I rarely ever like the main love interest as much as I like a rival or a friend of said love interest.

Literally, there is only one time I can remember the heroine falling for the guy I myself preferred while reading a lengthy shoujo, and that was when Tohru and Kyo ended up together in Fruits Basket (oh my lord you guys don't understand how happy I was, I was so fucking convinced she'd end up with Yuki, so the ending just gave me so much joy).

Anyway, it's happening again.

Akagami no Shirayukihime (or Snow White with Red Hair, or something like that). The story of a girl with abnormally red hair who falls for the second prince of a well-off country after her saves her from becoming a concubine for the idiot prince of her native country.

And I want her to fall for the fucking knight who was originally an assassin trying to kill her.

It's pointless, obviously; Shirayuki and Zen (the princely prince) are already together (if that's considered a spoiler, then you've never read shoujo before), and Obi (the knight) hasn't even officially admitted his feelings for Shirayuki.

But I've got it bad.

Look, Shirayuki and Zen are cute and all, but I just like Obi better, and no matter what happens in the series I will always ship her with her knight rather than her prince.

I'm cursed. I really am.

BUT SERIOUSLY LOOK HOW CUTE HE IS UP THERE RIGHT UP THERE HE'S SO ADORABLE
