Bonus Chapter: How Tyler and Reagan Became Friends

"Hey, Rea."

"Why are you calling me?" Reagan asked, fake suspicion in her voice.

"What?" Josh laughed. He looked over and saw Tyler smile at the sound. "Am I not allowed to call you?"

"What do you want, Dun?" She sighed dramatically.

"I was wondering if I could bring someone with me when we met up for lunch today," he explained, his voice turning serious.

"Oh, yeah!" Reagan assured, a smile behind her voice. "Can you tell me now or is it a surprise?"

"Surprise," Josh replied, gulping nervously. Tyler grabbed his hand gently, giving it a comforting squeeze.

"Okay! Yeah! Does one still work?"

"Yeah."

"Okay. I'll see you then. Bye, J. I love you," she reminded even though it was strictly platonic. Their feelings for one another had faded months ago. That's why it didn't hurt when what happened next happened.

"I love you too," Josh replied before he hung up the phone and set it on the couch anxiously.

Tyler pulled him in for a soft kiss, rubbing his thumb along Josh's cheek as he did so. "Hey, it'll go alright. I don't know her personally but she loves you no matter what and won't judge you," Tyler assured once they pulled apart.

"God I hope so."

---

"Josh!" Reagan smiled widely, standing up and pulling him in for a hug. "How are you?"

"I'm good," he replied honestly, hugging back.

"Who's this?" She asked once they let go, confusion evident. She looked like she was trying to place a name to a face.

"Um... this is my boyfriend, Tyler," he grabbed the mentioned's hand.

"Hi," Tyler said to Reagan, once again giving a reassuring squeeze to Josh.

"Oh," Reagan's eyes widened slightly. "Like Tyler the one who ruined your life?" She asked, pettiness in her voice. Josh figured it was towards Tyler and not him.

"To be fair I ruined his too," he laughed nervously.

Reagan wasn't amused.

"Josh can I talk to you?" She shot Tyler a look. "Alone?"

Josh's heart became heavy at the look of hurt on Tyler's face. "Uh, yeah. I'm just gonna go to the bathroom," he nodded, making his way towards the back of the restaurant.

"Why are you being such a bitch?" Josh asked her, sitting down at the table.

"Oh I'm sorry," she deadpanned. "Do you want me to be welcoming towards the guy that gave you multiple fucking panic attacks?"

Josh went silent.

"See? Josh, I had to help you through so much with him. I didn't even hate the guy at first. Hayley and Ashley told me how close you two used to be whenever you weren't around. I didn't dislike him until I saw your first breakdown."

"He had them too," Josh attempted to defend his boyfriend.

"So? I didn't have to deal with his."

"I never asked you to deal with mine," Josh snapped. "Tyler and I talked all our shit out and we're both mature enough to be in a relationship now. If you don't approve you don't have to be in my life."

Reagan's tough facade quickly melted at those words. She grabbed Josh's hand from across the table. "Josh, I had to go through so much with you. I was terrified for you on multiple occasions. You had a panic attack so bad you thought you were going to die. That shook me up, okay? I just don't want him hurting you again. I'm not even mad you moved on. I just don't want you to have to go through that again."

"I won't have to," Josh assured. "All those years ago it was a communication issue. We've talked it out. I'll be okay."

Just then, Tyler came back with a nervous look on his face. "Am I good to come back?" He asked, running a hand through his long hair nervously.

"Yes," Josh looked at Reagan pointedly, grabbing Tyler's hand and pulling him into the chair next to him.

Reagan didn't say anything as she took a drink of her soda in front of her.

It was silent between the three for a solid five minutes before a waiter came over to get drinks for the men and asking what everyone wanted to eat. However, once they were done and the waiter left they were stuck in silence again.

"So..." Tyler began to strike up conversation. "Josh told me you're a pediatric nurse."

"Yeah."

"Guess he has a thing for people in the medical field..." he laughed nervously.

"Guess so."

Josh frowned and kicked Reagan's leg under the table. She glared at him and kicked him back. Tyler just looked uncomfortable.

"How's Freddie?" Josh asked.

"Good. He misses Jim."

"Jim misses Freddie," Josh replied. "Tyler likes Queen."

"Loves," Tyler corrected.

"You do?" Reagan asked, looking at Tyler. This was good. She was attempting conversation.

"Yeah. I won his sister concert tickets before I moved by answering a question about Queen," he smiled.

"What was the question?"

"When was Roger's birthday?"

"It's July 26th."

"Duh. Everyone knows that."

Reagan laughed and her lips rested into an easy smile. "What's your favorite color?" She asked, shooting Josh a look.

"Red."

"Oh my God Josh does have a type," Reagan's eyes widened as she laughed loudly.

"Oh my God I do!" Josh began laughing as well. "You two are the same person. That's horrifying."

"Dumbass," Tyler and Reagan said at the same time. They locked eyes and grinned widely.

"Oh my God I want to leave," Josh groaned.

"Did Josh say he was going to marry you too?" Reagan asked.

"Yes!"

"Dude you gotta stop telling people that," she teased. Josh blushed and covered his face with his hands.

"I want to leave," he repeated.

"You know," Reagan sat back. "You're not half bad, Tyler."

"That's what I've been telling people," he joked making Reagan laugh once again. "Hey are you good at checkers?"

"I'm the best."

"Uh huh you've never played against the master. I will kick your ass in checkers."

"Oh yeah? Prove it."

"Fine. My house. Saturday. Checkers tournament."

"You're on."

"I want to leave."
