Part 99
After George and Joanna left him that morning, Henry still felt tired from his sleep so he decided to continue sleeping in. But somehow an hour later, he woke up, fresh from his sleep and decided to take a shower and changed.
He put a new clothes on, a simple grey knitted sweater as the cold starts to creep in with his casual sweatpants while bare footing around the house.
He saw the plate of breakfast they had left for him on the table and immediately quenched his hunger and enjoyed his meal in silence. After breakfast, he washed the plate and wiped it dry before placing it back into the cabinet above his head. His mind buzzed with thoughts that he couldn't shake. The threat from Hayden, his nightmares, Alex's words taunting him that caused him to stare in spaces. He didn't even realized he was standing by the kitchen staring at the wall for few minutes before he snapped out of his daze.
He decided to go back to his bedroom, sat down by the desk and opened the journal he had the last entry he wrote Alex few days ago and read it hundreds of times by now. He wanted to mail it to Alex but deep down, he found it pointless knowing Alex had left.
The half opened window letting soft breeze into the room that flipped the pages. The journal is almost finished, left with only few pages left when the wind blew over the last page that caught Henry's eyes. Something he had routinely written each time he purchased a new journal or sometimes when George bought him one.
Shaan's name and address in New York with his phone number written on the last page in case something happened to him, these journals would go to him so he could give to Alex. He wonder if Shaan still stayed at the same house or even had the same phone number considered its been four years since he had left. He meant to ask Alex about it but somehow the question never reaches him when they spent their time together.
But something in him that felt bold and bravely today when he took that journal in his hand and headed straight towards the living room where George's house phone located.
He grabbed the handset shakily, the ringing tone echoed from the speaker as Henry placed it next to his ear. He raised his shaky fingers, attempting to press on the number he had written countless times on those journals. His finger hovers, shaking as he placed the handset back in placed.
"Just do it Henry. He might not even pick up." He muttered, reassuring himself to muster up courage to call him again. It took him a while but finally he grabbed the handle and his fingers rapidly pressing the numbers listening to the dial tone.
He placed the handle between his shoulder and his right ear while his other hand still carrying the journal in hand. The phone went silent before the line went ringing that made his heart starts pounding in his chest.
It took him all the strength in his body to not put the phone down but he knew it was too late of him and even if he does, someone might returned the call back and he had no choice to pick it up again.
The ringing felt forever but it was only on the fourth rings when he heard that familiar voice that carries a lot of weight in his chest.
"Hello?"
Henry couldn't find his voice to reply and the sound of Shaan's tired voice made him lost his own. There's a lump stuck in his throat that made it hard for Henry to speak or even breathe. His hand gripped the phone tighter when he heard Shaan's voice again.
"Hello? Anyone there?" Henry could feel his own chest filled with surge of emotions that contains nothing but guilt and a slight fear in him. He feared that after everything, Shaan might still hold that anger in him for leaving. His eyes blurred in tears as he heard him, unknowingly exhaled his shaky breath that made him cupped his mouth with his palm to hide his presence.
"Henry?"
He heard his name called from the other line and sudden gasp escaped from his throat. He cupped his mouth tighter, muffling any sounds that he made so Shaan won't know it was him.
"You don't have to say anything Hen. I know it's been a while. I know it's you. I can see the area code and I know it's from Portland. I'm so glad you called."
Henry wanted to put down the phone but something inside him prevented him and telling him to hold that call a little longer just so he could hear his voice. The sound of Shaan's voice felt comforting after days his heart wasn't at ease, these small window of chances made him feel home again.
"I miss you Hen. We all did. Zahra and I will wait for you to come home, no matter how long it takes you but we will always wait for you. You are always welcome home Henry. You know that right?" Shaan asks that made Henry broke in sobs into his palm.
"I miss you too." His voice breaks after he lowered his palm from cupping his mouth. He could hear sighs escaped from the speaker before he continued.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry Shaan." Henry finally spoke so softly, voice low in whispers as he sobs. Tears streaming down his face as he clutched the phone like his life depends on it.
"Oh Hen. You have nothing to be sorry about. We are the ones that should apologized. We left you when you needed us the most and you did what you had to do to protect your heart. We never blamed you Henry." Shaan reassured him, the words that Henry had dreamt to hear for four years now and now he finally could hear it.
"I fucked up Shaan. I don't know what to do." Henry whimpered, lips trembling in tears as he slid down the wall and sat on the floor with the phone still pressed deep over his cheek. He clutched the phone tight with his both hand like his life depends on it. The journal had forgotten on the floor next to him.
"What happened Henry? Alex told me you guys are over. Is it true?" Shaan asks and finally that wall he built around his hearts that he protects so dearly came crashing down like waterfall. He never wanted to end their relationship but he guessed Alex had finally had enough of him.
"I never wanted too. I love him, I love him too much Shaan. But I can't- " Henry paused, holding on to his tears that made his breath staggered.
"I don't know what to do." Henry finally muttered between the sobs before he heard Shaan exhaled his breath into the phone.
"Henry listen to me." He starts while Henry sniffed his tears and waited.
"Come home. I know you wanted to. I know you had been thinking about it. Alex told me you had doubts. Even I can hear it in your voice that you wanted nothing more than to be with Alex. Come home Henry." Shaan's voice sounded hopeful and warmth that made Henry's heart flooded with relieved.
"I can't Shaan. You don't understand. I have a life here. These people took me in when I was at my lowest and cared for me like their own. I can't just leave them." Henry protest, Joanna and George's faces flashes into his mind. He refused to imagine what it would be like if he ever betrayed them and leave after everything they had done.
"I understand. But Henry, you can't satisfy everyone and definitely you can't save everyone to make you feel better. Life will find a way to crush it down before you could find your way up again. Alex made that sacrifice and look where it gotten him, so does you. You both need to stop fuck around with fate and just accept that you belong to each other. Your home is his and so does Alex. No matter how far you went Henry, you will always be Alex's one and true love. Doesn't matter how much you pushed him away."
"And as for the folks that took you in, I'm sure they would understand if you talk to them. You were never theirs, you had family once and from what I see, we are more happier to welcome them into ours."
The words had pulled him back into reality and he finally could see it clearly now. He wanted nothing more than to be home with Alex, with him and Zahra and little Ellie. He wanted to come home, living their lives not in fear, but in happiness that he had intended too with Alex till they both grew old.
"Is that Henry?" Another voice spoke faintly from Shaan's side and Henry could hear rustling like they are fighting over the phone together before Zahra's voice came into the speaker. "Henry? Is that you?"
Zahra's voice still sound the same way Henry remembered, soft, motherly but still stern. "Hi, Zar." His voice shakes, feared she might yelled at him after what happened. But he was wrong when Zahra sighed in somewhat relieved flooded into her chest.
"Oh Hen. are you alright? Are you well?" She asks with that concerning voice.
"Its okay Henry. You don't have to say anything. We're so glad you'd call. We missed you. Little Ellie has been asking Alex everyday about you. She can't wait to finally see you. Even our little boy is kicking his way in my belly right now as we speak."
Henry gasped, another waved of tears bursting through his chest when he heard her.
"You're pregnant?" He asks and Zahra seemed relieved when she finally heard his voice.
"Seven months and counting. We can't wait for you to meet our little boy." She says cheerily into the speaker and Henry could imagined her rubbing her soft rounded belly as she spoke to him.
"Come home Henry. Please." Zahra's voice sounded pleading after a while Henry kept silent and Henry exhaled his breath through his mouth.
"Are you sure?" Henry asks and he could hear her sighed and somehow she let out a small chuckled before she replied.
"If you didn't, I'm gonna come there to Portland and dragged your ass home myself if I had too. I need a babysitter and I don't trust Alex and his crazy trash bun!" She claims that made Henry burst out laughing and heavens, they hadn't heard those laughter in years and somehow those small laughs made everything makes sense again.
"Come home Henry. We'll be waiting for you. However long it takes. Our home is always going to be opened for you, always." She reassured him and Henry somehow nodded with a smile curved on his face.
"Okay." He says whispering those words like a promise.
"Call us if you need anything. We let Alex knew." Shaan's voice came back into the speaker and Henry noticed he had been listening together.
"NO!" Henry blurted.
"Don't tell him anything. Please. I need to tell him myself." He says that surely made Shaan and Zahra smiled.
"Okay. As long as you promised to come home, we'll be waiting for you. We love you Henry, don't ever forget that." Zahra words made Henry's heart filled with warmth spreading through his chest and the tightness he felt inside him finally loosen and free.
He set the phone down after their call ended and somehow his face still had that curved smile on his lips. He picked up the journal from his feet before rushing towards his bedroom and pulled out his bag pack that he had kept for years.
He starts putting his shirts, his pants, his journals although he couldn't carry all, he brought the first journal he ever written and the last one he wrote. He was deep in his thoughts, filled with excitement of coming home, seeing the smile on Alex's face when he finally told him that he would stay despite his mind worries about telling George and Joanna about him leaving.
In his mind, he would want George and Joanna joined him, meeting Zahra and Shaan. Introduced them as part of the family and watched how they would bond when his thoughts were disrupted by a sound of bell door rang. He set the journal down on the bed next to his bag before putting on his shoes to see whom rung the bell.
Henry didn't even questioned the presence at the door when he unlocks it only to find Hayden standing on the porch, smirking back at him.
"Hello Henry." His voice echoed like a dream that Henry remembers. Cold, dark and creepy. Only this time, it wasn't a dream, it's real life and he could sense danger coming.
Henry immediately shoved the door back closed but Hayden held it opened with his palm, fighting Henry's strength with his own. Henry thought he was strong enough when he managed to close the door and lock it but Hayden is a lot stronger than he thought and with one forceful kicked, the door spread opened, splintering the wooden edges by its hinges even hitting Henry back sending him over the table behind him, knocking the vase down, shattering on the floor.
Henry groaned, back searing in pain after he was hit by the edge of the table and tries to crawl out of the way but the glass and the wooden splinter cutting his elbows and his palm trailing blood all over the floor.
"Nice place. Not like I was ever invited here anyway." He mutter, grabbing another vase and threw it against the wall causing it to shatter. Henry tries ducking out of the way and ran towards the kitchen where he could find weapons to fight him but Hayden is a lot stronger, faster and seems he can read Henry's mind when he caught his wrist pulling him back from running.
"Not now honey, I haven't had my kiss just yet." Hayden cupped Henry's jaw tightly to face him before pressing his lips over his mouth. Henry felt sickened by their lips touched but as he pushed Hayden by his chest, something angered him that made him back handed Henry over his cheek. He fall on the floor, ears ringing from Hayden's hand with his cheek burning in pain. But before he could recover, Hayden pulled his hair back, tugging the root from his scalp. "Push me again and see what I'm gonna do to you." He warned him before pushing Henry's head back into the floor harshly. He later lingered around the living room, studying the frame one by one before tossing the one he hated.
Henry took his chance and immediately ran towards the kitchen despite his vision blurred by the dizziness of being hit by Hayden. He didn't waste time before grabbing the mug hung on the wall and starts throwing at him but Hayden seems able to dodge each and every one Henry tossed at him. The mug shattered in pieces over the floor behind him and once all the mugs are gone, he moves towards the plate but each throw, Hayden managed to avoid that made Henry grew in frustration.
Hayden took his steps carefully when Henry finally pulled out a drawer and aimed a kitchen knife towards him that made him stopped from walking towards him.
"Stay away!" He yelled, pointing the knife at Hayden. He straightened his back, arm stretched over the counter next to him with a smirk on his face. "Put it down sweetheart, you're gonna hurt yourself." He says, still smirking.
"Leave before I call the police." Henry threatened but he knew he was far enough to reach the phone to call for help and the house if completely isolated from any other neighbors so he is completely alone to defend himself.
"Tell me you are not that stupid Henry. How far is the police station from this house for them to reach you? No neighbors, no one is at home except us till this evening, no point in screaming, no where to run." He stated as he took another step causing Henry to retract backward.
Henry could feel fear creeping up in him when he realized what he meant. Hayden knew exactly what's going to happen, he had it planned and Henry was fool enough to believe that he could come out of this alive.
"What do you want?" Henry asks and he could see him scoffed back at him.
"What I want is not important. But it would be nice to see the look on your husband's face when he found you dead in this house after I'm done." He took another steps.
"Why?" Henry asks.
"Oh Henry if I were to explain, we would be here all night. Give me the knife." He held out his palm, barely a feet away from Henry stretched arm. But Henry deflects, causing him to slice Hayden's palm open that made him winced.
"Fuck!" He cursed holding his palm towards his chest. His eyes then glared towards Henry standing before him, still holding the knife in his hand before he charged forwards and managed to smack the knife away from his grip.
"You're gonna be sorry for that." His words cold while his bleeding hand holding Henry's jaw and neck tight. He raised his fist and Henry couldn't find a moment to hide or deflects when it collides with his cheek that made him stumble on the side right on the kitchen floor. His ears won't stop ringing from the impact and his side burning with pain.
"I warned you. But you never listen aren't ya." He yelled grabbing the kitchen towel behind Henry to wrap his bleeding hand. Henry rolled on his chest, crawling on his elbows out of the kitchen when Hayden stopped him and flipped him back on his back.
Henry fought Hayden's hand grabbing his wrist but failed when he had tightened his grip over Henry's pale wrist and later a kitchen knife slicing through his hand that made Henry screamed in pain.
"That's what you get Henry. I warned you." He says dismounting Henry's body and later tossing the kitchen knife into the sink. The metal clanked but Henry kept his blurry gaze sharply at Hayden standing a few feet away from him. He pushed himself back into the corner of the cabinet with his palm pressing his bleeding wound right above his wrist.
"You fucking crazy." He muttered, voice shaking from the pain. But Hayden stood firmly with his back leaned against the marble counter facing Henry on the floor.
"You'd think? What about you then? Seeing dead people? That's crazier than me Henry." He says and it caught Henry's attention. He knew Hayden might have somehow dug some information about him. "But I didn't kill people freely!" He spat back.
"Oh you so sure about that?" He says before stepping closer towards him and crouched down to meet his gaze. "What about her?" He asks but Henry didn't need to ask whom he was referring to as he perfectly knows it by heart.
"That's not my fault." He whispered, voice trembling but Hayden smirked otherwise.
"Oh it is. She ran away because of you and you led her to her death. It's all on you. I had a background check done and I know for a fact, Alex still blames you for his sister's death." Henry's tears began to flood back into his eyes and fell right down his bruised cheek. "He's not." His voice pleading. He knows Alex better than him, Alex told him himself repeatedly.
"You sure about that?" He asks, still smirking devilishly at Henry before he stood. Henry was left in tears right on that cold hard floor trying hard to not let his words get into him. Hayden walked around the kitchen, destroying every single thing he could find, shattering more glasses on the floor ignoring Henry behind him.
"What a pathetic family." He muttered when he caught Joanna's self made cup with a daisy painted on the front that she made after Colin dies. Henry whimpered when he threw it on the ground, shattering every memory she had of him.
Something lifted in Henry's heart when he realized Hayden is not focusing on him with his back turned. He scurried on his feet, wanting to ran over the front door when he realized Hayden would have intercepted him from the other side so he swung and ran down the hallway towards his bedroom instead.
His heart is hammering in his chest as he got into his bedroom and just as he was about to push the door open, Hayden came scrambling down the hallway like a maniac and wedged himself between the slit opened door. Henry fought his strength to keep the door closed when Hayden used his strength on him and managed to push the door opened hitting the wooden frame over Henry's face.
Henry stumbled back, blood seeping through his nose as he falls on his back. A loud thud echoed after and before he could ran, Hayden straddled him on the floor, knees pressing his arms violently with his hand gripping his wrist painfully.
"You are a fighter. I get it. But so were others Henry and they always failed to escape me." His breaths pants holding Henry by his wrist as he fought his way to free from his grip. But something caught his eyes right above Henry's head where his bags are packed and ready that flicked an anger burning through his crazy gaze.
"You fucking leaving?!" He yelled as Henry fought to pull his wrist away from Hayden's grip. "There is no fucking way I'm staying here anymore you asshole!" He says but immediately regretted when he caught Hayden's eyes blazed with fury and sudden silence with his grip loosen over Henry's wrist. Before he knew it, Hayden raised his fist and Henry was hit, repeatedly.
He tried to block his fist from hitting him but something inside of Hayden had blinded him and by the time he was done, Henry was black and blue. His face swollen, eyes barely opened with his arms pained from the hit. But he didn't stop there, not yet.
He reached behind him and pulled out a strings of what it seems to be a cable ties. Henry was too tired to fight him when he felt his arms raised above his head and later tied by the bed frame with something thin and sharp around his wrist.
Hayden later moves down to Henry's ankle and tied his legs together before he crashed down on the floor next to Henry, catching his breath.
"You are different Henry. That's what makes you special than the rest of them." He says as he stared at him, face swollen from his doing and a smirk formed on the corner of his lips. He felt proud for what he did and Henry could barely breathe. The pain was too excruciating for him and he could feel his cheek bone might have fractured.
Hayden stood, headed towards the packed bag on the bed and grabbed Henry's journal before flipping the pages. "Pathetic." He scoffed before tearing the pages off that made Henry looked up.
"No! Please don't!" He begged, body squirmed on the floor but his bound hands cutting his skins as he moves.
"What? This?" He asks playfully before tearing another and crumpled the pages in his fist into a ball before tossing it to the corner. Henry watched him teared every pages he had ever written for Alex, all the words he had poured his heart out for him those late nights when he couldn't sleep and those letters is going to be only in his past and Alex would never be able to read what he wrote.
By the time he was done, satisfaction crossed over his face as he crouched next to Henry. He raised his knuckles, attempting to brush over Henry's bruised cheek but Henry turned away from his touch that made him angry. He grabbed Henry by his chin harshly to pull his gaze back to face Hayden.
"It's not like he's coming back to read all those pathetic words. That's a lesson for you Henry. Always appreciate things when you had them while you did. You'd never knew when you will lose them one day." His words seethed through his teeth before throwing Henry's head back against the floor.
He stood up, and was about to cross over Henry's body when Henry caught his feet with his bounded legs and it tripped Hayden from his steps. His body tumbling down on the floor by his feet and before he could raised himself, Henry curled his knees and kicked him squared on his face.
There's a cracked sound followed before Hayden falls on his back and Henry felt relieved when he didn't make any signs of movement.
He pulled his bonded wrist as strong as he could before the ties snapped, freeing his cut wrists and moved on to free his ankles. He didn't think twice before standing up to leave but somehow Hayden's body is blocking the door to open and he didn't want to risk his freedom by moving his body.
So instead, he headed towards the tall window, climbing over the wooden table when he realized his body won't fit through the frame. There's a wooden frame right in the middle that separates the window. Henry climbed off the table and grabbed the chair before tossing it into the window, shattering the pieces off before he managed to climb out.
But before he could escaped, his ankle were caught and he turned to see Hayden, grabbing his ankle with that fury look in his eyes, blood seeping through his nose from his kicked and as Henry tries to kick himself free, he felt sharp pain stabbing through the back of his thigh.
He turned to see Hayden had the same curved knife he had threatened Henry before buried deep into his thigh and despite that, Henry managed to raise his leg and kicked him directly into his chest, knocking him into the floor.
Henry slipped through the frame and fell on the ground with a thud. Blood seeping through his leg but he couldn't waste anymore time and rushed on his feet, limping his way into the forest with Hayden trailing behind any second he could spare.
.
The path is rough for Henry injured thigh and he could feel his chest is burning with exhaustion. His breaths pants as he run as fast as he could but finally his feet caught up and he accidentally slipped from one of the tree barks protruding from the ground. He fell right on the cold dirt ground, smearing mud over his grey sweater.
"Fuck!" He muttered, holding his thigh in pain but he couldn't give up, not right now when he is almost free from him.
"Henry." His voice echoed in the forest surrounded by nothing but tall trees and cold wind. Henry could feel his heart hammering further in his chest as he scurried into his feet and ran. He passed few trees when he realized he had been circling the area twice and knew he was lost. He never been to the forest before and George had made sure he didn't step in without him.
He was never a hike himself to explore the forest and he regretted for not spending his time learning this place. But Hayden's voice is getting closer and Henry needs to make sure he didn't see him so instead, he hide under a stump on small hills, burying himself underneath the roots from anyone's view.
"You can't run Henry, not with that wound on your thigh. It's burning isn't it? That's what sharp blade does to you, it didn't just sliced, it burnt your skin by their sharpness." He rambles on and Henry could feel what he meant. His wound is burning and despite the cold weather, it felt like fire burning through his skin. He pressed his palm against the seeping wound that soaking his pants trying to hide himself long enough for Hayden to pass. He raised his head and caught Hayden searching for him before he lowered himself back under the stump, carefully catching his breath so Hayden won't caught his panting.
He heard him headed to the other side of the forest and confirmed he was far enough before Henry climbed out from under the stump to ran on the opposite direction.
But before he could take any steps further, Hayden jumped from behind him pushing Henry off the path and they both rolling down the hill. They both reached the ground, separated from each other a few feet apart. Henry looked up to see a spacious ground around them with dead leaves covered the ground and few large boulders scattered around. The trees surrounded the space like spectacles watching him fight for his life. A clear grey skies above him, blowing wind through the trees sending shivers in his body.
Luckily enough, Henry didn't get hurt from falling down the hill except for the constant bumps on his shoulders and his hips as he tumbled. Hayden was thrown few feet away from him as Henry tries to ran away. But he wasn't fast enough for Hayden and he was pulled back by his collar causing him to fall back on the ground with Hayden back straddling him.
"Get off me!" He yelled pushing Hayden's arms off from pinning him down. He managed to kneed him from under that made him released Henry from his grip. Henry pushed him over the side and tries to escaped when Hayden pulled him back and they both fought for dominance.
At this point, he cursed himself for not learning self defense or even a hint of skills to fight Hayden and his manic behavior. But he didn't expect when Hayden stood before Henry's laid body on the ground and stomped his ankle with his boots.
Crack
Henry screamed, his voice howled in distance that he prayed someone would caught but he knew it was too impossible knowing there are literally no one but him and the psycho in this forest, alone.
"You made me chased you through the forest, now see if you can run from me." He laughs when he watches Henry held his now broken ankle with tears running down his face. "YOU BASTARD!" He yelled and Hayden jumped towards him causing Henry to fall back on the ground with him straddling on top of him.
"Call me that again, I'll show you who's the bastard!" He screamed, hands already gripping Henry's neck tightly causing Henry to gasp for air. His mouth opened, jaw fell apart as his fingers clawed Hayden's hand from his tightening grip.
"Henry."
"Fight him."
"You can do it."
"You are stronger than you'd think."
The voice echoed follows by a rather strong wind blew between them. Henry's eyes flicked towards the sky in confusion when he saw no one but him and Hayden's murderous gaze.
"Can you hear them Henry? Can you hear my victims pleading me? Come on. Begged me like they did." He whispered, hands gripping tighter over Henry's pale neck when Henry felt a round object under his palm next to him and didn't think twice before swinging the object towards Hayden's temple.
He realized he was holding a rock in his hand and it had a sharp edged that cuts through Henry's palm as he threw another swing towards Hayden and he fell to the side.
"Yes I can hear them you bastard! They told me to fight!" He yelled, throwing the rock to the side when Hayden didn't move. He pushed himself, trying to drag his broken ankle away when he felt it. Sharp and sting.
He gasped, air knocked out of his lung when he felt it. A sharp pain stabbed on his back and Hayden's lips brushing his ear. "Tell them I'll send you there soon." He whispered and Henry could feel the knife twisting on his back before Hayden pulled it away. His face scrunched in pain as he leaned against Hayden's chest, blood seeping his back, wetting the sweater his wore.
"Not if I send you first." He says and turned catching the knife still in Hayden's grip before jamming it straight into his chest, right in the centre.
Hayden gasped, knife embedded into his centre and Henry twist it harder causing blood spurting out of his mouth and splashed over Henry's face. He fell right before him, eyes staring into the sky with that cold gaze, blood seeps through the corner of his lips and Henry could see him stop fighting for his breath. His chest rigid, his whole body froze right in front of Henry.
He fell on his knees, staring at the lifeless body like it was unreal when his gaze caught them. Standing before him, hovering over Hayden's head. The people stood before him is unrecognizable, some men, some women, age varies from teens to his own.
"Thank you." One of them whispered and Henry could feel his body felt light, almost like the wind could sweep him off his feet.
"Not yet Henry."
The voice woke him up from falling unconscious and surprised when he saw her.
"June?"
His voice breaks from his hoarse screamed and tears as she knelt before him wearing that familiar dress Henry had dreamt of her. The simple cream yellow dress that has small flower at the end, wearing her hair down flawlessly but her eyes carries lots of regrets.
"Henry you need to stay awake. You have to get out of here." She whispered and Henry could feel her palm brushing over his cheek like a cold wind blew on his skin.
"But I'm so tired June. I wanna rest." Henry replied, a cough erupts from his throat with blood spluttered into the ground.
"I know you are. But you can't give up now. You hear me? You need to get out of here, Alex is coming." She reassured and at the mentioned of Alex's name, Henry's eyes blew wide open before sudden realization hits him.
"He's not coming June. Trust me. He had enough. He's tired of me, of us." Henry slurred, eyelids swayed to close.
"Henry, he's coming. Trust me. Just kept walking." She told him and slowly raised Henry to his feet. He stumbled but caught by someone on his side preventing him from falling.
"I'll help you. Come on." A boy stood by his side that looks rather familiar but Henry couldn't figure out whom he was and eventually wrapping his arms around his elbow as he led him out from the area. He took one last glanced at Hayden's body still on the ground and felt relieved flooded his chest.
His gaze turned towards June standing behind him, fading.
"I'm sorry for what happened to you." Henry whispered but she smiled, shaking his head at him.
"I'm free Henry. Free from everything that weighs me down. I'm happy and I had no regrets. Just tell my brother I love him and stop screwing things up would ya." She winked back at Henry with that sincere smile on her face.
Henry nodded weakly and watched the wind blew her away with dead leaves carrying her to the skies.
He didn't even know where he was headed but somehow the path looks familiar and soon a familiar voice echoed at the far end for him.
"Henry!"
The voice called him out again and Henry couldn't decides whether it's only a dream or his brain replaying his memory on a loop when he heard him.
"This is as far as I go. Tell my parents I love them. I'm happy they are still together despite everything they had been through." The boy whispered letting Henry limped few steps further. Henry turned, confused etched between his brows. "Colin?" He asks and the boy nodded before fading right after.
Henry felt his body is too weak to move on but he kept dragging his broken ankle when he could see a tall figure from far end of the path. The figure stood, his voice muffled but Henry vision blurred to make out whom it was. But as the figure ran closer, he could finally see the familiar body with that curls bounced on top of his head.
The same eyes that carries so much love in him, mouth opened calling out for him and Henry could feel surge of relieved flooded through his chest. "Alex." He whispered.
"Henry!" He yelled back running towards him and soon their chest collided in each other embrace. Their knees gave out, letting them both hugged on the ground with arms secured tightly around each other.
"I didn't give up. I fight him. I fight him." Henry repeatedly told him in tears and Alex pushed back, hands secured over his cheek protectively, examining his injuries.
"I know you can do it." He says proudly with that smile on his face.
"You came back." Henry whimpered and Alex nodded in tears. "I never left. I just went to get some clarity. I was gonna come back and tell you everything. I swear." Alex explained and Henry nodded before falling forward into his arms again.
"I wanna go home with you. I was gonna go home to you." Henry whispered and Alex breathe out his chest in relief. But his eyes caught his palm pressing over Henry's back that seeped in blood. The sweater he wore is torn and dirty but he couldn't care less, he cared about the blood running through his back that made his stomach twist.
"Let's get you help Henry." He says pushing Henry from his chest and raised him above the ground. He carried him in his arms, head falls helplessly over Alex's shoulder and finally calming his breaths in his embrace.
He's home.
