Part 46

Henry didn't know how much longer he could take being the receiving end of this endless torture. The doctor moves from electrocuting him or using his skin as his canvass of art.

The moment his regained back his consciousness, the doctor would be pleased to see him grunting, writhing in pain and he loves when Henry stayed conscious during his torture.

He lost his track of time considered how he fell in and out of consciousness. He could feel his body is breaking apart and his soul is too tired to even fight to breathe.

"Hang on Henry."

"Stay with me."

"June. I c-can't." He whispered under his breath before he felt another jolt of electric shooting through his brain.

"Enough, please. Enough." He pleaded over and over but the doctor only laughs at his pain and misery before turning the jolts higher and watched as Henry's whole body shook, rattling the metal stretcher.

"We're not done yet my dear boy. I am still out of answers. How did you see them?" He whispered over Henry's ear before taking the sharp blade and starts carving it into his skin. Henry groaned before he breaks into a scream from the pain searing through his dehydrated skin.

"Please. Please. No more. I don't know. Please, I don't know." Henry begged repeatedly in tears with his voice breaking from the soreness of his throat. But before the doctor could continue, there was a faint ringing coming from the wall behind Henry. He couldn't fathom whether the sound is too far away from him to hear or his mind is too tired to focus that made it sound so muffled. But he was glad for the sound cause it made him stopped and reached for it.

Henry couldn't see beyond past his head but he knew that ringing belongs to an old phone probably installed when this place was built. Henry can see it now, the way the room is built, the metal doors with lower ceiling, it was a bunker.

"Fuck!" Henry heard the doctor cursed before slamming the phone back into its place.

Henry watched as he paced around the room gripping into his thin salt and pepper hair before he left the room in haste.

"Something's wrong." Henry whispered but his head is too heavy to even process his own thoughts before he fell back into his unconsciousness. But the last thing he could remember was June gripping into his hand tightly for assurance.

.

"Wake up!" A sting slap hits Henry on his cheek causing him to flutter his eyes opened. He saw the doctor frantic searching through his stuffs before piling it into his medical bag and starts packing.

Henry watched as his grabbed his stuffs and starts walked around the room in rush seems like he feared for something or perhaps running from something.

Henry could feel coldness starts to affect his entire body when he barely could feel his fingers or toes anymore. His head is still heavy and his throat is piercing with pain each time he tried to speak.

"What's- going on." He asks weakly but the doctor ignore him at first.

"Orders. By Phillip." He says. Henry's eyes blew wide upon hearing his brother's name. "What orders? Where you're taking me?" Henry asks wiggling himself out of the strap but hopelessly failed.

"Nowhere. I was given orders to make sure you're never getting out of here alive." He says pulling out a metal syringe in his hand. "No, no, no." Henry tried to pull away from his grip when they both were surprised by the sound of gun shot outside of the room.

Henry shot his eyes towards the door and somehow that small glimmer of hope began to resurface.

"They're coming Hen. I told you." June whispered but before Henry could respond, a sharp sting of pain hits him in his inner arms. He hissed in pain when he realized the doctor had injected him with something.

"What- what did you- do?" Henry asks tiredly feeling his whole body starts to feel like he's floating in clouds. His mouth is dry as a sand and his vision starts to blur within seconds.

"Something for our parting gift sweetheart." He pulled Henry by his chin before planting a kiss over his dry lips. Henry fought wanting to bite the doctor's lip but whatever he injected into his veins had made his body numb and his head heavier.

"Henry hold on."

"Just a little bit. He's coming for you."

"Alex is going to save you Henry. Just hold on."

Henry couldn't figure out which voices does it belongs to, either June or Bea or perhaps it was Pez screaming in his ears as his minds starts to grow heavier.

"I can't." He whispered before slowly letting the darkness enveloped him into his deep sleep. But this time, he wasn't sure whether he would wake up.

.

"There. Just follow the stones." Andrew pointed at the dark path lead to the edge of the land where Phillip had fences covered at the end. Alex's face furrowed at the thought of going there thinking Andrew might be lying or maybe it was another trap set up for him.

"You will see a bunker door on the ground. I saw daddy went there few times and disappeared for hours. But the door is locked when we got there." Andrew explained further which Martha clicked her tongue back at him.

"I'm sorry mum but I was curious." Andrew pointed and Alex could see it, the curiosity, the guilt in his eyes, he wishes his father didn't hold such secret within their family but ended up ruined everything.

Alex lifted his gaze towards Cash and gave him the nod to starts ordering their men to secure the area first. Cash hinted the land is filled with landmines so they should be careful on where they're stepping.

"It's just like Herat boys. Watch your steps, followed the stones." Cash told the men and they could see them walking in the dark from the edge of the land cutting through the wired fence with guns on their back.

Martha watched how many of Alex's hired men moves in the dark and surprises her especially how powerful Alex influences is compared to her husband.

She gripped Jackson's chest tighter, closer to her hip when she felt the sudden fear flicked into her chest. Alex noticed the sudden changes of her bloodied face before he reassured her again.

"I'm not here to hurt your family. I just want Henry back then I'm gone. I'll help you cover up for Phillip." Alex told her and she snapped her gaze back at him before nodding at him. "I'm sorry, for everything he did." Martha spoke but Alex shook his head at her.

"It's not yours to ask for forgiveness. You didn't know. All these years he had been hiding it from you. It wasn't just now, it was years before he met you. He hid Henry from the world and hope no one would find out. But Henry is a fighter, he fought his way out and never wanted to look back. He was happy, at least- " Alex paused with his gaze low on the grass covered ground. He knew what he did to Henry was wrong and he intended to fix it, however much possible.

He felt the sudden tug on his jacket when he looked to his side, Andrew is standing right beside him with his head tilted. Somehow Alex could see young Henry is standing by his side with that dark eyes staring back at him. His blonde hair combed neatly to the side with that cute button nose, it's almost as if he was staring at little version of Henry.

"Is Henry your boyfriend?" He asks surprises Alex and the rest of them altogether before a smiled breaks from his face. "I supposed, yes." Alex answered.

"Is he nice?" He asks which Alex nodded snickering a smile at the word nice. Henry was beyond that, nice wouldn't even cover the fact how kind Henry are to everyone around him. "Yes, very. He is the nicest person you'll ever meet." Alex continued.

"Do you think he'll forgive us?" Andrew pushed the questions further causing Alex to shift his gaze towards Shan standing beside Martha before his eyes drawn to little Jackson in her arm. "You know what?" Alex starts before crouching down to meet Andrew heights.

"I can bet you that not just he's gonna forgive all of you, he's gonna be so happy to see his nephews protecting him from all the bad people. He would be so proud of you boys." Alex shifted his gaze from Andrew to Jackson with that soft smile on his face.

"Is he like Jackson too?" Andrew asks causing Alex to snap his head at Martha, "What does that mean?" He asks which Martha shrugged couldn't understand what her son meant by that. Jackson pulls away from her grip and went to his brother's arm instead.

"Can he see poppy?" Jackson asks causing all of them to flip their heads at him. Cash was so immense into focusing on the men clearing the bunker underground also flipped his head at him.

"Poppy?" Martha asks curious.

"Yeah!" Jackson smiled happily pointing at the house behind them. "He lives there." He pointed at the attic causing them to shift their gaze back at Martha.

"Poppy is my grandfather. He died when I was only six. They never met him." Martha explained causing them to flip their heads back at Jackson.

Alex pulled Jackson by his shoulder softly towards him before he asks him again. "Jackson, can you see other people other than poppy?" Alex asks hoping.

"I see you- " he replied awkwardly. They all chuckled at his answers.

"No- he meant other- other people. Tell them about Maria." Andrew told him causing Martha to gasp. "Who's Maria?" Alex asks but he could see Martha was already in tears.

"My sister. She died of cancer a year before Jackson is born." Martha explained. She crouched next to Jackson pulling him to face her with tears in her eyes.

"You can see her?" She asks and Jackson hesitated before he nods. "She always cry when she sees you mummy. She said she misses you." Jackson says causing Martha to break into tears.

"I'll be damned." Shan adds causing them to flip their head at him. "It runs in the family." Shan says keeping his gaze at Alex.

"What is?" Martha asks before she stood up from the ground followed by Alex. "Martha do you know why Phillip had Henry locked away years ago?" Alex asks which she shook her head confused.

"Henry and Jackson shared the same gift. They uh- they can see people that passed on. Dead one." Alex explained and he could see how confused plastered over her face.

"Why would he locked his own brother away?" She asks.

"Because he was afraid of Henry's gift. Unlike Jackson, Henry was- " Alex paused.

"He was alone. He doesn't have anyone helping him get through it like Jackson had Andrew here to protect him." Shan helped him knowing he knew about Henry more than Alex himself. "Henry kept his gift a secret because Arthur made him. Back then, things like this would get you a straight ticket to Broadmoor. Which is what your husband did."

"Lord forgive me. I didn't know. I'm sorry." Martha mutters but Alex shakes his head at her before placing his palm over her shoulder.

"We can put this all behind us now. The only thing matters is saving Henry." Alex says and just in time, Cash pulled Alex back by his arm. "It's done. The bunker is save but they caught someone. I think you might wanna take this one." Cash whispered and he could see Alex is already fuming with anger.

"Go back to the house and wait for us there." Shan instructed Martha and the boys which they obeyed thinking it would probably be safer than out here.

They didn't hesitated at once when Alex starts following Cash into the path following the stones as Andrew told them before three of them stops at the opened doorway with staircase leading down to the bunker.

Cash lead them even though it's already cleared by Alex's men but he won't let Alex nor Shan got hurt if in case they missed anyone hiding in the dark.

The straight pale brown hallway is covered with Phillip's men scattering bodies, dead on the ground. Alex could feel the tightening knot grew inside his chest the closer they got to the room at the end of the hallway where it was already opened.

Cash was the first to enter and Alex could hear him gasped before he pushed passed him to see the reason. "Oh God." Cash mutters under his breath with his hand cupped his own mouth at the sight in front of him.

Alex stepped beside him, sharing the same gasped followed by Shan later. in the empty room, a metal stretcher placed right in the middle with a small bulb light lighting up underneath it revealing Henry strapped on the stretcher, half naked with his pale body tainted with laceration wounds all over and blood seeping through his skin. Some were dry, some are barely dripping.

Alex breaths hitched with a lump stuck in his throat as his feet dragged him further into the room edging closer to the man that he loves.

The moment he got closer to Henry, the wall he built up to protect his interior facade of being the strongest person in the room finally breaks. Tears welling up in his eyes as he stares at Henry unconscious state. His eyes are closed, his lips are cracked and his chest is barely moving.

"Hen?" He whispered slowly raising his palm over Henry's cold cheek. Alex had to pull away a little at the shock of how cold Henry's skin under his touch. The memory of Henry fell down the steps last winter night brought back into his mind but this time, this time it was different.

He cradled Henry's head in his hand before tears starts to flood his eyes and sobs breaks through his chest. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry Henry." He mutters resting his forehead over Henry's cold forehead.

"Baby wake up. Please. Please wake up. I'm here. I'm right here. We're gonna go home okay. Please wake up. Please open your eyes, please." Alex begged stroking Henry's cheek and his blonde hair with his fingers but Henry didn't move. He was so still and cold making Alex begged further.

"Henry open your eyes, please. I need you to wake up and tell me to fuck off. Please baby. Please open your eyes and tell me you hate me. Please. I need you to wake up." Alex pleaded tapping his cheek softly before his hand starts unstrapping the metal cuffs that leaves more marks on Henry's wrist.

He broke more in tears when he saw Henry's wrist. The one he hides from him for almost a year, too insecure about the injury he had suffered without Alex's notice.

"Shan, he's not waking up." Alex pleaded when he saw Shan stepping closer on the opposite side slowly pressing his two fingers over the side of Henry's neck.

He turned around and saw the scattering small glass bottle before starts flipping through each and one of them and found exactly what he needed. He pulled out an empty syringe and starts withdrawing whatever content inside that glass bottle before injecting it into Henry's vein.

"What the hell are you doing?" Alex asks trying to stop him but Cash pulled Alex's hand away from gripping into Shan. "It's adrenaline. He has a pulse but it was too weak. This will help before we get him the real help." Shan explained pulling the needle out of Henry's vein before placing a small piece of gauze he found on the tray behind him.

Alex cradled Henry's head still in his hand when he slowly could see how his eyes flutters. He gasped in excitement when Henry's eyes began to open and their gaze finally fixed on each other.

"Alex?" Henry mutters softly with a furrowed look in disbelief. Alex winced at how sore Henry's voice was but he was happier to hear his voice now more than ever.

"I'm here baby." Alex reassured him but Henry swallowed hard blinking his eyes tightly.

"Am I dreaming?" He asks but Alex shook his head at him.

"No baby. I'm here. I'm right here." Alex pressed on cupping Henry's cheek closer to face him.

"Then I'm ready. I can go. I can go now." Henry mumbles that made Alex worried.

"No, no Hen. Listen to me. I'm here. I'm here alright? We're here to save you. You're going home baby and I will never let you go. I promise." Alex pushed his words so Henry could hear how desperate he was right now.

"I'm tired. I'm ready Alex. Let me go." Henry pleaded but Alex won't accept it. He cradled Henry's head tighter pulling his jaw to face him.

"Henry Fox you listen to me right now." Alex voice pressed further.

"You are going to live, okay? You are going to see your nephews and you would be so proud of them, especially little Jack. I want you to meet them. I want you to live knowing you have someone that cared about you. I want you to live until Zahra gave birth to whatever devil child she carries so I have excuse to have that baby in my loft forever alright! Listen to me Henry, open your eyes and fight. Fight not for me but for you and for your future Hen." Alex cupped his cheek tight to make sure Henry is awake when he said those words to him.

"Zar with child?" Henry asks curious and Shan smiled nodding at him. "Yes Henry and it will take a village to raise the baby. We need you alright." Shan continues which Henry swallowed harder. "Lord help us then." Henry mutters causing all the men to chuckle and somehow the room lighted up a little.

"You came back for me." Henry whispered still in Alex's arm. He could feel how exhausted he was even when he uses simple words. Alex brushes his finger over Henry cheek softly before pressing his lips over Henry's dry thick lips. The kiss was soft, longing but it was enough.

"Always baby. I have a lifetime of making up for what I did to you. So I need you to fight this alright?" He asks and slowly pulling Henry to sit up but noticed Henry is barely could keep his neck straight.

"I got you, I got you." Alex mutters holding Henry in his arm before holding him steady over the metal stretcher.

"Boss." One of Alex's men called dragging a slight older gentleman in his grip with his hand over his neck. The man is beaten to a pulp but still had that weird smirk on his face. Henry gasped when he saw him and Alex couldn't help noticed the shakes and trembled fingers from Henry grew when he saw him.

"You did this?" Alex asks and the guy only smirked at him. Alex gestured for Shan and Cash to hold Henry before he approached the guy.

"I'm gonna make sure you'll regret whatever you did to him. Hell would be a vacation home for you when I'm done." Alex whispered but little did he know the guy had other planned for him. His eyes lowered and before Alex could react, he pulled the gun from Alex's hip and aimed it directly at him.

"Alex!" Cash yelled and before he could react, the gun blasted towards Alex's chest and sent him falling behind on his back.
