'Why do things always go this way?' You thought, sitting at the edge of your bed, gaze locked onto the floor underneath your feet. Tears blurred your vision as you sniffled, blinking to only cause the droplets run down your blushed cheeks.
He did everything right so why did it go so wrong? Using the cuff of your sweater his gifted to you on your birthday to wipe the tears your head turned over to your phone that vibrated with calls from Yuji. Answering and holding up the phone to your ear you mumbled a soft "hello yuji."
"Hey (Y/N) I heard about you and Choso. I'm sorry he did that to you, I would've told you if I'd known.." Yuji spoke out, gentle and comforting. "He's been trying to call you but I told him it was best to just leave it alone for now."
Your heart was heavy. How were you suppose to act when the man you loved only brought you pain? He lied and manipulated everything you've ever been through with him. A sense of emptiness, almost to a dissociative state blanketed your mind to where you felt nothing, mindlessly spinning the beautiful diamond band that jeweled your ring finger.
"It's alright Yuji, there is really nothing much I can do" (Y/N) sighed, running your hand across your face until your clenched your hand against your pursed lips. "How'd you find out?" Yuji asked, clearing his throat. "You don't have to answer that if you don't want to you know, don't mean to pry," the male added as you bit your lip.
Your eyes slowly moved over to the dresser before you, bags under your eyes, eyeliner smeared off to the sides and hair a mess but all you could pay mind to was a picture within a golden frame of Choso and you. He held a soft kiss against your forehead as a smile shined on your face. Silence strung out between the Yuji and you. "Eso told me. Well clarified the situation." You responded, standing up and walking over to the dresser, picking up the frame.
"I had invited him to the mall with me to get Choso a birthday gift. I was just—"

"I was thinking of getting him new boots, the one he wears now are all torn and faded. They're like the only thing he uses." (Y/N) chuckled thinking of Choso's doc marten boots struggling to keep themselves together. "Yeah he needs those maybe a hair cut too" Eso teased, rolling his eyes. "Or you could get a huge tattoo, a tramp stamp of his name, surprise him when you know what," the tall male joked, nudging (Y/N)'s side.
"No! I couldn't do that! You know what they say, when you tattoo your partners name you're bound to break up!" You shook your head at the thought. Us? Splitting up? Never. Right?
Eso chuckled, dryly as (Y/N) lead the way through the mall. His eyes fell upon you, his chest rising with a sigh 'yeah..' he thought, clearing his throat. The chatter of a busy mall filled the surroundings, kids sprinting down the long halls, sales representatives standing between them pitching their products with casual dismissals.
"I think journeys is on the left" Eso responded, his hands within the pocket of his jeans, taller than (Y/N). With a soft turn, (Y/N) headed into the small shoe store but coming to a halt. Your eyes locked onto a rather, heart sinking to the bottom of your stomach as Eso furrowed his eyebrows and peered over your head, his eyes widening.
Choso sat upon one of the steel chairs that decorated the center of the store, a girl stood in front, watching him as he tied the laces of the shoe before he stood. "They look good!" The woman smiled, pushing him over to the mirror at the side of the store to take a look. "Hey (Y/N) I don't think they sell Doc martens here-" Eso knew it was too late for him to try to save your heart.
The woman giggled beside Choso, she was slightly taller, beautiful with straight blonde hair, a bit flirty for your liking but Choso seemed to enjoy every bit of it. "Are the comfy?" She asked, resting her head upon the broad man's shoulders, Choso nodding as he positioned his feet to take a better look.
"(Y/N).." Eso muttered, gently trying to pull the girl from the position she was frozen in. Your eyes blurred with tears you took a small step back "H-he told me he was out with Yuji.." (Y/N) mumbled attempting your best to fight the tears that built up. Fire poured down your throat, it burned, stung as you tried containing them, your heart raced against your heavy chest, 'why?'
Watching the two people who ripped your world to shreds (Y/N) couldn't think. You couldn't speak. 'How could he?' You asked frantically searching for answer. The blonde kissed him on the lips swiftly before notifying the sale's associate that they'll be purchasing those.
Choso smiled softly, eyeing the shoes again before looking up and catching the reflection to (Y/N) in the mirror. "Fucking shit" he hissed , looking over at his other lover gathering her things before looking back at you and his younger brother shaking his head in disappointment. "(Y/N) I can explain," he quickly made his way towards you, the other woman furrowing her eyebrows in confusion.
You stood there. It's like you were stuck but all you wanted to do was run away and hide. Scream at the top of your lungs and cry your heart out but you couldn't seem to do a thing. You didn't hate him. Not one bit. Disappointment. Betrayal. It's all you knew right now.
Choso stood before you, gathering your hands in his as your head hung low, tears rolling down your cheeks. He desperately attempted to wipe your tears, his hand cupping your face delicately. It pained him seeing you cry. It felt like needles in his heart. He had always promised to protect you from the world but never did he realize he'd be the one to cause you harm.
"My love I'm sorry, I'm so fucking sorry," he whispered, lifting your hands up and kissing them softly. 'His kisses..' they were always so warm. Eso shoved him off to the side "Choso I think you need to leave her alone," Eso interrupted placing himself between his older brother and you. "Eso wait.." you choked out, coming out from behind the younger brother and standing before Choso.
"Why?" You asked, head tilted softly to the left as your reddened face peered up at him. "Why?" You repeated a bit more stern this time, clenching your jaw. Without a thought or a hesitation you lifted her hand and smacked his across the face. A red hand print appeared across his cheek, the woman he was with rushing to his side. "Choso baby are you okay?" She asked, holding his face.
You watched as this woman tended to his wound but Choso just looked off into the distance. He knew he deserved every ounce and bit of pain that was surging through his face. "I can explain.." he muttered, raising his hand to his face. "I don't want to hear it," you spoke out, "fuck you" you whispered, voice cracking as another wave a tears came flooding in, Eso holding you from stumbling. "Let's go home (Y/N)," he murmured allowing you to move at your own pace but standing beside you on your way back home.
———- (time skip to the past over) ———-
"Eso explained how he was sorry for not telling me sooner and that Choso met Yuki at one of the parties Geto held back in January. But he said it was a one time thing or so he thought after Choso proposed." You slid the ring off your finger, taking a look at it as you spoke to Yuji.
Flashbacks of the cold night when Choso proposed to you under city lights came rushing in. You were so happy. So in love. But even after proposing how could these diamonds and ring mean nothing to him. "They apparently kept meeting up when I'd go visit my family, when I went out of town with Shoko and Nobara that one weekend. For my birthday trip he said work had declined his request for the days off so he could go yet he lied and ended up having her stay over. Eso found out because he left his stupid Apple Watch and came to pick it up."
Yuji couldn't believe what you were telling him. His sweet older brother, nurturing, protective, old brother did the absolute worst to you. "Man I'm so sorry on his behalf and I'm sorry you had to find out this way. You're an amazing girl (Y/N) and don't let a man who's stupid make you feel less than that," yuji tried to cheer you up.
A sound of keys being thrown onto the table rang out from the living room. "(Y/N)" his deep voice reverberated against the walls of the silent apartment. "Yuji I'll let you go, he's here." You informed, standing up and placing the ring upon the dresser. "Alright (Y/N) call me if you need anything. Be safe."
Hearing the call hang up you tossed the phone onto the bed before trudging out of the room. Your hands a crossed against your chest you leaned against the open door frame. "Choso" you spoke out, your head resting on the wall. Your eyes puffy yet a loving gaze at the man who betrayed you.
"Hey," he added, slowly pulling you from the frame and into his arms. His biceps on your shoulders, planting a kiss against your forehead with a soft sway. Your arms rested at your sides but it was taking so much to not wrap your arms around him and forgive him of all wrongs. Choso rested his chin on top of your head as his tired gaze looked around the room, spotting your ring sitting a top the dresser.
"You don't have to forgive, but know that I do love you," Choso voiced.
"I need you to get your things and leave Choso."
Never had you ever thought those words would come out your mouth as tears streamed down your face. His eyes widened ripping from you in astonishment "what? No you can't just- no (y/n)," Choso shook his head in aggravation, his hands burying themselves into his loose hair. "We can call off the engagement but this" he motions to you and him "this we can fix."
Choso circled himself, a hand on his hip and the other on his head but all you could notice is that he still has the shoes he tried on at the mall. He couldn't even come home in his old ones. "Maybe I'm just not enough Choso. You can't even show up with your old shoes. You lied to me. Lied to me Choso! Multiple fucking times and I'm just suppose to forgive you and pretend like that woman wasn't in my bed, in our bed during my birthday!" You started raising your voice in frustration.
Choso watched you voice your feelings. A scoff escaping his lips with a roll of his eyes "so you're just going to through away 4 years of us? I've apologized!" he shouted, looking at you surprised by your words.
"Me! I'm the one throwing it all away?" You asked angeily, confused as to why was this your fault. "I wasn't the one with a bitch in my fiancé's bed! I wasn't the one lying! The one kissing someone else, I wasn't the one pretending to love a double life! You did that! You threw it all way! And for what? A quick good time Choso?" Your chest heaved at every breath and you stormed into the bedroom pulling his stuff out of the closet, Choso chasing behind you. "Get your shit out of here!" You cried tossing the fabrics onto the floor or behind you as Choso could just stand and watch.
He caused this.
Collecting his things in his arms be nodded "fine. I'll take them." He responded, as you sat upon the bed once again. Silence trailed between the two as you balled up within the sheets. Choso occasionally stopped to look over to you but continued until his things were emptied into black garbage bags lined against the outside of the apartment door.
The night had finally set. A wine glass and a now empty bottle adorned the coffee table reflected your image. Your hands held between your thighs as you laid upon your side on the couch hearing shuffling from behind. "Everything's out.." Choso spoke, placing the copy of his key besides the wine bottle. "I'll see you when I see you. Take care for me please." He mumbled leaning over the couch and placing a soft kiss on your temple, his hair brushing against your face gently, pulling away only to look down onto you with regret. The diamond ring he gave you dangled from his chain neck shined against the dim light of the apartment. Gently closing your eyes, a stray tear trailed away to your cheek.
Walking up to the door, he took one look back to your figure on the couch. "I love you (Y/N)...I'm sorry." He called out opening the door and shaking his head before closing the door behind him and heading down the hall to where he'd sleep for the rest of his days away from you, your loving smile and face burned into his mind.
At the sound of the door closing you bursted in tears. Your chest burning, hard the breathe as you held yourself closer. "Why Choso?" You whimpered.
"I love you.."
