Chapter three: The Guardians arrive!

Xaver threw a winged fist at Clarissa, or Clary as she is starting to go by. Clary blocked the attack with her left wing and retaliated with a knee to Xavier's chest. Xaver went back stumbling, trying desperately to recover his breath as he clutched his chest. Shouting victoriously, Clary did a round house kick to Xavier's face to end the fight; or try to at least. Xaver smirked to himself as he thrust his wing forward, his eyes darkening as he used his power of telekinesis on Clary, most of her body restricted of all movement.

Clary groaned in frustration, her head the only part of her able to move. "Do you think you would win that easily?" Xaver laughed as he lightly tossed Clary back, releasing her of his hold in the process. Clary landed a few feet away, temporarily stunned before she recovered. She flew at Xaver, moving as fast as she could, catching him off guard as she crashed into him. They both went tumbling head over tail till they crashed into Lisa's tree, a spike of pain erupting on Xavier's back. Said bird screeched as he laid on the branch, his back in the air. Clary got up unsteadily, her eyes dazed as Xavier's pain settled to a dull throbbing.

Xaver stood up as he glared at Clary, his eyes darkening as he froze Clary's body. From this point things got weird (well, weirder). Inside of Xavier's mind, a screeching voice in his head telling him to kill her. 'No! She's my friend; I would never hurt her on purpose!' Xaver argued with the voice. The owner of the voice began to twist Xavers wing to where the motion would snap Clary's neck. Xaver fought with all of his strength in a attempt to fight the voice, his body trembling in a visible effort to stop the killing movement. Xaver looked into Clary's eyes and saw a ice cold fear, one that was deeper than when his eyes first turned red two years ago. 'You will do a lot more than hurt her... That I promise..." the voice said as it abruptly left, causing Xaver to drop Clary as he passed out.

Xaver opened his eyes to see Clary silently screaming in pain, but Xaver saw himself holding her wing in a comforting way. Xaver couldn't hear Clary, but he could hear himself speak. "Clary, come on! Push!" Xaver told her, his voice with a edge of worry. Xaver knew instantly what was happening: Clary was laying her eggs. Xaver wanted to look away, but it was like something was holding him in place. With visible effort, Clary pushed out the egg and Xaver wanted to cry. The egg was not white: it was a dark red.... the color of blood.

Xaver woke up gasping for breath, his body drenched in sweat as he quickly got up, looking at his surroundings wildly. Xaver could see he was inside a hollow; he recognized it as one of Lisa's resting rooms. Xaver began to calm down as Lisa walked into the room, but began to freak out again when Clary walked in with her. "Are you okay? Clarissa told me that you passed out" Lisa said as she walked over to him, her wings holding what looked like moist moss. "No-No, I am most definitely not okay" Xaver said as he tried to edge away, his breathing calming down. Lisa pressed the moss against his head and managed to get him to lay down.

"What happened back there? Why did you do that?" Clary asked as she moved closer to Xaver, slow and cautiously. Xaver screeched as he flew to the farthest corner of the nest he was in, his heart beating at a thousand miles per hour, his eyes laced with fear as he looked at Clary. Lisa watched in silence as Clary tried to get close to Xaver, but he kept on moving to different corners of the room.

"What did you do?" Lisa asked Clary, her azure eyes laced with curiosity. "Don't ask me, ask him! He was the one that nearly killed me!" Clary exclaimed. Lisa turned to Xaver and asked him the same thing that she asked Clary. "I don't know what came over me, honest! When I lifted Clary into the air, well, um... Can Clary please not be in here when I tell you this?" Xaver asked. "Okay. Clary, can you please leave so that we can talk?" Lisa requested. Clary nodded and made her way out of the hollow, her eyes containing a faint pissed off-ness, but she left neither-the-less.

Only when Clary was out did Xaver speak. "Well, while I was knocked out, I had something like a nightmare/vision; it felt that real. I was inside of an hollow with two birds; I somehow recognized could tell that the birds were I and Clary as adult birds. I had to watch on silently as Clary laid an egg screaming; she was making no noise, but I could hear myself saying encouraging things to her. As I was doing this, a... demonic voice told me that I would do a lot more than hurt her; when the egg came out, it was not white, but completely covered in blood" I told Lisa in a small voice, my words shaken with fear and depression.

Lisa looked at me intently all through out my dream talk, her golden eyes peering into my very soul. She sighed when I was done, rubbing her face with a wing before she smiled as an idea came to her. "Well, all we have to do is intensify the medical herb lessons! I will give you separate lessons from Clary and teach you various healing techniques to stop blood flow" Lisa said; I mentally groaned, but I nodded any way; her healing lessons were brutal to us, but intensified? I shuddered at the thought of it, knowing that the lessons were next.

--Somewhere else in the Amazon as Xaver was asleep--

Nine all white birds flew in tight formation, each no more than two tail feathers behind from each other. "Remember, we are here to find the one foretold; we can not let him be turned" one of the birds said, his earth brown eyes looking at each of his companions. Another bird was about to speak when she suddenly fumbled, almost as if she forgot how to fly before she recovered; her ice blue eyes showing fear. "Its happened; the third ability has been awakened" she whispered. The other birds looked at her intently. "Are you sure Jen?" The first bird said, his tone deathly serious. "Yes, Snow; his third demon ability is active" Jen told Snow. "By this rate, he will be Converted! We must find him!" Snow growled. "We need to find a hollow; it late" a third bird said, her voice containing no room for argument; they had been flying all day, so who could blame her?

The rest of the birds nodded before they started searching for a hollow, content to rest for the day.
