Chapter 25
Amazing jerked up from a bad dream, "Fisayo!" She muttered rushing to get her phone. She couldn't really put her hand around the dream, she just knew it was a bad omen.
Bassey ran to Fisayo's apartment, anger and worry simmering in his gut. He knocked on her door to no avail. "Where the hell are you?" He mumbled to himself, eyes swollen in tears. He wanted to rush back home but he was in conflict with his own mind, what if she ends up coming back to her house? Or what if she's still at the hotel? What if she never came back?
Why will her phone be in the room too, everything was complete down to their clothings and documents?
Bassey busted into tears, "God help her wherever she is". He had no choice but to sit at the porch praying and waiting for her to return.
Amazing's phone vibrated while she drove over to Fisayo's house. Yemisi was at the front seat while Blessing an Ema sat at the back seat. "Good morning Benefit. Can you call back? I'm driving" She said on picking the call but she had a second thought when she heard her sob. "Benefit, are you alright?"
"No. It's Adetutu, I think they attacked her last night. When Jeff when checked her this morning, she was lying in bed motionless"
"Jesus"
Benefit cringed moving the phone away as though her exclamation had effects on her, unlike those days she says it. Because of it, she had to placed the call on loud speaker, "Tell me she's okay" Amazing asked, "She is but she's still motionless, she's not saying anything, she's just ...." She trailed off and Amazing exhaled feeling tensed, wishing she could be in two places at the same time.
"Benefit calm down. Where are you?"
"Jeff's hospital."
"Once I get to Fisayo's place, I'll drive there. I'm almost close to Fisayo's house." "Fisayo's house? Fisayo is not in Nigeria" " I had a bad dream about her, i called her to no avail and i just felt God directing me to her house. Don't worry, when I'm done, I'll stop at the hospital, send me the address" she requested ending the call.
"What happened to my sister? Why is she at the hospital?" Ema asked and Amazing exhaled again dropping her phone on her lap, "Adetutu was attacked" "Oh my God! Benefit will be devasted, she loves that girl more than she loves her twin" Yemisi complained and Ema nodded, "Where is the lie in that?"
"Pull up here. Let's divide and conquer, you and i should go over to Fisayo's place while Ema and Blessing go over to the hospital" Yemisi suggested and Blessing agreed.
Benefit sat on the floor of the hospital weeping bitterly. "It wasn't suppose to be this way... It wasn't"
Amazing and Yemisi approached Fisayo's front porched only to see Bassey seated there. "Wait oh...." Yemisi blinked her eyes, "I thought.... So Fisayo will travel back and not say a word? Not cool oh"
"Does that look like the face of an happy person?" Amazing asked, "I just hope everything is alright" they finally got to where he was seated.
"Good morning Bassey"
Bassey looked up at the both of them, his eyes were all swollen and red. Amazing and Yemisi instantly became scared, "What's going on?" Yemisi asked, "When did you guys arrive? Fisayo didn't say anything about travelling, even if you guys are travelling back, isn't it suppose to be like a 10 hours journey or so? Did you guys fly in the air?"
"Where's is Fisayo?" Amazing asked and he shrugged, "I don't know" "What do you mean by you don't know? You guys must have travelled back together" "Abi?" Yemisi asked panicking.
"That's the problem girls...We never travelled back. I woke up finding myself in my own room, Fisayo wasn't there. Everything was packed and kept in the room, like they're trying to show some kind of supremacy and prove a point. They warned us and i didn't bulge, Fisayo wanted to leave... I don't know what they've done to her"
Amazing looked up then she exhaled almost panicking, "No way... I'm not going to do exactly what the enemies want. Let's pray" she held Yemisi's hands now stretching her hands at Bassey. "Rise up let's pray, we're not going to achieve anything by just weeping and getting worried over this. He said in his word that we shoud worry for nothing but with prayer, Thanksgiving, and supplication" Bassey rose up holding her hands.
"Lord we have come to you this morning with one prayer request called Fisayo Ogundele, we don't know how you're going to do it but we ask for her safety"
Fisayo chased a guy, " Se o ya were sha. Se won fe ba ti e je ni? (Are you sure you're not mad? Do they want to spoil your own?). The next person that will look at me that way will get it good from me" She hissed then returned to sit on a heap of dirty. She picked a spoilt bread placing it on a rusty iron tray.
"Wa ra ohun ti mo n ta oh" she shouted when a lady passed beside her, "Fine Aunty! What do you want? I have what you want oh!" The woman hurried off and she hissed.
"Siooor! If you don't want to buy, i'll kukuma eat It myself, shebi it's my market" she hissed eating the bread then she exhaled, "O de so o (And she said it oh). She said i will wake and find myself in Third mainland bridge and i did. Anyhow, if this market doesn't work for me, I'll just go into the studio and release my song. From Bahamas to Bridge, from Bahamas to Bridge"
Bamidele received a call from his Boss, Larry Bankole so he picked it up after much relunctance. "Good morning Boss" "Good morning Bammy. How are you?" "Fine, I've never been more better"
"Do you have something doing now?"
"Yes"
"What?"
"My Father's business"
"You've gone back to Zenith?" "No. I meant my Father's business according to Luke, I am populating the kingdom of God. You should join me this Sunday in church" "Oh please cut the crap! It doesn't suit you" Larry snapped.
"You can't tell me you're being serious about this gospel bullshit! You left your job to what? Pursue God, that's the most stupid thing I've ever heard. You need money to Finance the work of God, how are you going to cope?"
"God will help me"
"I'm calling you to make an offer, come back to work and I'll pay you double, trust me Bamidele, you have no idea what you're doing every minister of God have a job they're doing, don't be deceived, think of your life Bammy, just come back and earn more than you've ever. There's a new position waiting for you, just say yes and it's yours"
Tara folded her legs while she watched Mrs Ekanem take her seat, "What should the maids offer you?" She asked and Tara waved her hands, "I'm good Ma" "Are you sure?" "Oh please! I am fine. How's Kommie?"
"Did someone just call Kommie?" Kommie asked from behind and Tara smiled, "Hello dearie, how are you?" "I'm fine. This one you're here without having some kind of information about Bassey being around, what happened?"
"Oh. I came bearing news, How's Bassey and his.........whatever he's dating"
"Girlfriend" Kommie noted, "They are fine Tara, did you hear they're on a vacation in Bahamas? They're both having the time of their lives and by the way things are going, my big brother is going to propose very soon!"
Tara gasped, "Really?" "Yes. Wedding bells are ringing already. The only thing left Is a wedding card" "Wow and who Bassey going to get married to? That tramp?" She asked and Mrs Ekanem raised her fingers at Kommie.
"Watch your language Tara, Fisayo is not a tramp"
"Well... That's the news I came bearing" she unlocked her phone and then stretched it to Kommie "That's the tramp you want your son to get married to"
"E don happen again for Lagos oh, another asewo don fall victim in the hands of yahoo boys or ritualist. Some eye witness say them them just see her dey sleep for ground naim them wake up, the girl come dey act anyhow, na so them know say the babe done mad. Another eye witness say na so them see guys throway her from car to the ground, we no know wetin happen for real but wetin we know na say the babe don mad and them don't use her destiny cash out.
The video of Fisayo by the third mainland bridge appeared and Kommie held it against her chest, " This can't be real" "Let me see it" Mrs Ekanem requested and Kommie shook her head, "Mom don't"
"Kommie!" She screamed and Kommie handed the phone to her, where the video of Fisayo being held displayed. "Mom that video must have been doctored, Fisayo is not even in Nigeria. I spoke to her yesterday with her international number, something isn't right"
"How do you explain this?" Mrs Ekanem asked and Tara smirked knowing she was really buying the news, "This happened this morning. Do you want proof? This video has been trending, I have downloaded several others. I came because of my love for this family, I seriously don't want you guys making a bad choice. This girl is clearly a tramp? Maybe there's something Bassey is hiding"
"Call Bassey!"
Adetutu stared aimlessly while Jeff sat close to her. "They've run a full scan, they said the brain activity Is just like a baby's own. It's like someone exchanged my baby's brains over the night with a three months old baby"
Benefit sobbed and Ema hugged her, "Babe calm down, think of your baby's health." "I just want to die" "You won't die!" Blessing shouted, "Stop saying rubbish"
Ema's phone vibrated then she walked out to pick the call. "Bad timing Babe" "Sorry" Dare apologized, "How's your sister holding up?" "Badly. She loved that girl, she really did. It's like the exchanged her brain over night with a baby's brains"
"Jesus!!! Men these guys are relentless oh"
"They are Dare that's why we need to"
"Babe now! Please, I didn't call because of that. I called because of something else. I just forwarded a link to you, it's about Fisayo, she's trending" "What happened, tell me"
"I think you should watch it yourself"
"Please" "Fisayo has run mad," "What?" "Yes. I'm sorry. I made some calls and I'm trying to locate where she is. I just dropped a passenger off and I'm heading towards her new location. If I find her I'll give you guys a call okay?" He asked but she gave no response.
"Babe? Ema?"
"I'll call you back" she ended the call then she leaned against the wall now staring at Amazing and Yemisi who were walking towards her direction.
Bamidele opened up the door to find Efua standing there with a smile. "Morning Bam Bam" she said entering into the sitting room. "Hey Efua, you can come in, oh wait... You already did that" he answered shutting the door and she chuckled dropping her bag on the chair then she gazed repulsively at the bible, note and Kenneth Hagin's spirit within and spirit upon book on the center table.
They were tiny notes on the table too.
"Wow... It's a bible Conference here"
"You can say that again. I was going to the door to tell the person to come back later not come in. I'm kind of busy" "I'm not going to take no for an answer. I came to talk sense into you and there's nothing you can do to stop me"
"Depending on the sense"
"Murphy told me...." She trailed off unbuttoning the buttons of the shirt gown, "You haven't had any action in quite a while" "Okay Efua, I think you should start..... leaving" he trailed off staring at her cleavage.
"I dare you Bamidele to refuse this" she pressed her boobs and he turned back looking up at the ceiling then she wrapped her arm from his back across his chest. "I miss you love, I miss us so much and I'm sure you miss it too"
"Efua stop this" he pushed her hands away but she grabbed him tightly, "Please come back Bamidele, let me make you feel good, let me satisfy your longing" "Only Jesus can satisfy a man Efua" he said now facing her.
"Again with this crap! We all know you're not a saint! Stop acting like one" She inched forward to kiss him but he moved back instead, "Efua stop this nonsense!" he begged but instead, she reached her hands to grab his manhood, knowing very well that when she gets a hold of it, she can really control him.
"Efua stop this!" Bamidele moved back and she rolled her eyes, "I know you want this, I can see it in your eyes" "I'm not denying it! This is tempting but I've come this far with God, I'm not ready to lose my relationship with God and Amazing for two or three rounds of pleasure. I'm sorry. Just stop it! You're only making a fool out of yourself"
"What happened to you? This isn't the Bamidele I knew"
"I can change. Efua you need to move on, there are other guys" "I don't want other guys!!! You think I haven't tried? List them Harry, Tola, Murphy. You're the best!"
"Well I can introduce you to the man who captured my heart and gave me a ticket to a fresh start. That's If you want" he smiled lifting his Bible from the table. "He's a lover and a friend"
He watched tears pour down her eyes then she buttoned the dress running out of the house in tears.
Dare parked his car by the side walk staring at Fisayo who was talking all by herself. He pulled out his phone calling Bamidele, "Hey" "What's up" "I found her, you guys better come before she moves again, people say she has been moving from one place to another"
Bassey, Amazing, Ema, Yemisi, Blessing, Bamidele and Dare walked up to Fisayo who was now hitting a rod on the rusty tray. "Ah! Customers de!" "Fisayo it's me Bassey" "
"Serious-minded customers only" she raised her and Amazing busted into tears, the reality of her being mad made each and everyone of them emotional.
"Fisayo it's me Amazing"
She paused in thought, "Ole! E fe tan mi je! ( Thief! You want to cheat me!)" She screamed, "Let's just grab her" Dare suggested and Bassey grabbed her in his arm and she screamed for help shaking with the strength of ten men while Dare held her leg to pin her down so they can tie her with the rope in Bamidele's hand.
"Aradugbo oh!" She bit Bassey's arm and he groaned, "Shit!"
Nene watched Fisayo's lunatic display fighting off tears from pouring down her eyes, "I know Fisayo has always been crazy but how far? This is extreme and unfair! God will punish this person"
Dare opened the door for Tara, Kommie and Mrs Ekanem to enter. "What are you guys doing here?" Bassey asked pointing at Tara, "Kommie, I only invited you" "I'm sorry.... It was all Mom's idea". All gaze fell on Fisayo who had been tied. "Jesus Christ" Mrs Ekanem muttered, "My God! How did it get to this?" "What's Tara doing here"
"If not for her, we wouldn't have known about this and of course you would have kept it a secret. After those things I saw on the internet about her being a prostitute"
Bassey scratched his face, "Now is not a good time Mom"
"Good evening Ma" Amazing greeted her, "My name is AmazingGrace Ma, I'm Fisayo's best friend. Everything the bloggers said was all a lie Ma. I assure you that..." She trailed off and
Fisayo's Mom hurried into the living room where Fisayo was "Ah!" She placed her hands on her head then she fell on the floor rolling from one end to another. "Wo ti get mi! Ki lo sele si Fisayo? (They've gotten me! What happened to Fisayo?)" She sat up shaking here leg then she crawled up to her but Bassey pulled her away.
"Odabi pe were n se yin! (It looks like you're all going mad)"
"She's dangerous Ma'am" he noted and she looked up at him, "You're the boyfriend right?" "Yes Ma" "What happened to my daughter? Bawo lo se de ipele yi? E de le so nkankan. Oda naa (How did it get to this point, level? And you guys couldn't say anything, it's okay"
"Mummy she'll be fine" Amazing rubbed her shoulder and she fell back to the floor sobbing. "I can't lose another child.... I can't lose another oh!!!"
"Pastor Tunde is here"
Benefit appeared in her room, she was ready to war. She would rather go mad than allow Fisayo get back her sanity.
Fisayo sat on the floor crying while everyone's hands joined in circle including, Pastor Tunde and the prayer team of the church who made themselves available. "Just like you drove the madness from that man at gadarene, drive this one back to the sender!"
The prayer grew more violent then Amazing noticed Fisayo's restraint, suddenly she pushed her head to the floor vomiting some black watery substance on the floor.
"Halleluyah." Pastor waved his hands and others followed suit. "Someone just went down for her sake. You guy should not weep if you hear a bad news from someone you know. An arrow just backfired"
Amazing rushed to meet her, Fisayo's gaze narrowed. She sighed then circled her arm around Amazing's hand squeezing gently now surveying the whole surrounding "How in the world did I get here? And why are there people around me?"
Benefit fell on the floor in her room laughing like a drug addict high on drugs. She was in between sanity and insanity.
Bassey called her curious mother to a corner in order to give answers to her questions, "It's all a lie Mom, everything those bloggers said...all a lie! Fisayo and I slept on the same bed, we suddenly woke up in Nigeria. She wasn't in bed" "How can we explain what happened? It's surreal"
"We'll deal with it."
Mrs Ekanem touched his neck, "Why do you have marks here" "Mom!" "What's going on? I'm your mother, just let me know what's going on, if there's a way we can help" "Fisayo Is better now Mom, that's all that matters"
"Is it a spiritual battle? From the look of things, it is. Is it from her home or family? Let me know what we're dealing with"
"Mom we'll deal with It. This isn't the right place to talk about this" He whispered, "I'm not leaving until you tell me what's going on. Do you know how I felt when Tara showed me that video? My heart broke into two cause all the while i felt like you've finally seen the woman I'll call my daughter in law. What is going on? I don't want to be in the dark"
"Okay....." Bassey looked around, "It's a spiritual problem" "From her family? What are the consequences? Or what is at stake?"
"Mom"
"Just give me an answer! Every family has one or two, it's the consequences that matters" "It's not from her family, it's just a vengeful person who doesn't want her to be happy. They don't want us together"
"Is it an ex I don't know about or it's from her ex?"
"Mom, can we just drop this topic?"
"I can't. If the problem is from you, her life is at risk, If it's from her, then your life is at risk too. Don't you think the two of you should just think things through until there's some kind of solution" "Mom..."
"I like Fisayo but.... If my son's life is at stake.... You know what my choice will be"
"Mom...."
"Your mom is right" Fisayo said from behind, "Good afternoon Ma, abi evening. Thank you for coming. I really appreciate it" She added walking back into the room and Bassey followed her. She sobbed laying in bed and he joined her. "How long have you been eavesdropping?"
"It doesn't matter, your mother is right. Your life is at stake if you stay with me" "I don't care, I love you" he moved close to her biting his lower lips, "Bassey" "All that matters is that you're fine! I was scared to death!"
Fisayo cried, "The memories are coming to me. I didn't know what I was doing, I can't believe I ate bread from the dustbin. Who usually keep bread for mad people set? I ate bread that I don't even know the year they kept it there. I had to brush my teeth, would you have been able to sleep close to me like this"
Bassey moved his lips close to her but she shook her head, "Baby I can't do this.... We need to start playing by their game. I can't afford to lose you" "I'm not giving up on you either" "Fine don't! Until we figure this out, we need a separation, we can call each other but you need to stay away from me. Until we figure this out"
"How she?" Tara asked immediately
Mrs Ekanem entered into the car. She left the moment the prayer started she didn't want the madness flying into my body, not like she came there to support her! "She's fine, healed" "Oh" she pursed her lips rather disappointed by the news.
"It doesn't change the fact she's a prostitute"
"Bassey confirmed they both slept on the same bed. It's a spiritual matter, a vengeful person doesn't want them together"
Tara sucked her teeth, "More reason for me to be scared for my Bassey's life. What will happen now? Will you cross your hand and turn blind eye to this? Will you? Bassey has to leave that girl. She's no good for him!"
Benefit struggled on the floor screaming in pain. She had ropes tied around her while her friends surrounded her chanting words to reverse the madness that had back fired to her. Benefit vomited on the floor, the same black substance.
She sat up looking at them while Anya bent down touching her cheeks, "That was a lucky one. You were stupid to go against them alone" "Fisayo?" "She's back to being sane"
"Not for long" she rose up but staggered back to the floor. "You're not fine, you need to recuperate"
"What I need to do is avenge Adetutu, I need to avenge Adetutu" "But you were the one who brought this upon her" Phyna noted and Benefit gritted her teeth angrily. "Shut up! I didn't! It wasn't me.... It was them!!!" She rose up and staggered again. This time Anya held her, "You need to rest"
"How is she going to go back looking that way? Jeff will want to tell her friends or even take her to the hospital and only a fool will not be suspicious" Phyna blurted out, "Exactly" Another agreed.
"What are we going to do about his parents too? Any more church interference will not look good on us. We're dealing with one already. We should do something about it"
"You're right, we'll make his parents leave as though nothing happened and we'll make him take Adetutu back home" Anya smiled at Benefit, "We'll take control of his mind, he won't dare tell your friends about your health situation"
Dare and Ema sat on the bonnet of the car. "This is some scary shit. Now I see why they say even if you're in Europe, these witches have network that can destroy any man. How can the just drag.... My God! These guys are not smiling"
"It's all fucked up. Exactly why we need to break up"
"Huh?" He asked and she gave a nod, "You can't be serious. Bassey just got served and you want to serve me too"
"I'm doing it for your safety. Before you'll end up dead"
"I won't"
"Baba rest! Stop trying to be heroic, it doesn't fit you" She jumped off the bonnet, " Do you think I'm happy with it? No!" She shouted leaning against him, "I'd rather die than lose another soul because of one stupid love" "Wow stupid love."
"We'll live to date another day. For now, let's just fucking pray to survive this"
Murphy poured a drink into two glass cups while Efua sat up covered her boobs with the duvet. "I'm leaving Nigeria" she announced and he dropped the bottle on the top of the cabinet staring at her in shock.
"How long will you be gone for?"
"I don't know. If I'm ever coming back, I just need some time out to think of my life and what the hell I need to do without Bamidele in it"
Murphy scoffed, "What the fuck are you talking about? What about me?" "What about you?" "Am i not worth taking the chance with?" "No! You're not Bamidele"
"Then fuck you!"
"Fuck you too! What the fuck is wrong with you?" She asked then she watched him gulp the two glasses of drink, one was meant for her. She suddenly felt sorry for him.
Murphy sat on the bed fighting his tears, she climb up on his lap facing him, waiting for him to protest, when he doesn’t she touched his face, running her fingers all over her sideburns.
"Murphy...." She trailed off in tears, "I'm hurt an I only came here for the sex. When I look at you, the only thing I see is a sex tool" "Wow... How convenient" he shot with a sarcastic tone. "I don't see you the way I see Bamidele and you know it. The two of us, will be a disaster"
"What are you going to do now?"
Efua shrugged breaking into tears, "Get over Bamidele, get over the fact he chose that thing over me. Who would have thought that Bamidele will date her? The same thing you dumped on a date is the same thing he's in love with. And here I am fucking the dumper. The universe is definitely against us."
His eyes lock onto hers and when her fingers touch his mouth, he captures one between his teeth and then he slowly brings it into his mouth, sucking it.
Evening
Bamidele stared at Amazing's swollen eyes while she leaned against her car. They had stepped out a hour ago in order to have a private conversation. Then he extended his hands out to her and she grabbed it heaving a sigh of relief.
"You dont look so good"
"I'm just tired that's all." Her cracked voice failed her. "It has been a busy day, i didn't take my bathe until this evening. I've been running helter skelter. I just need a long night sleep, a day off work tomorrow and we have a wedding next weekend to plan for. At least Fisayo is alright" "Yeah" "Except Benefit, I don't know how she's faring, I tried calling her after Fisayo got healed but she hasn't been picking up my call. I called Jeff, he said she left the hospital without his knowledge."
Bamidele creased his brow in thoughts, "That's strange, till now?" "Yes. This whole Adetutu thing is quite overwhelming, if it's not too much, I can ask Pastor Tunde to pray for her tomorrow or we can go personally"
"Pastor Tunde said something hearing bad news about someone you all care about." He blurted out and she scoffed getting defensive, "No way! How can you say something so preposterous? It can't be Benefit, she's the most fragile person I've ever met. She can't even kill a cockroach, I mean for real, she runs away when she sees people kill insects."
Bamidele lifted his hands up in surrender, "I'm sorry, I was just adding things together. I just think It doesn't make sense she wasn't at the house while the prayer was going on. Nene was there too. She was the only person missing and suddenly she's not picking up your call, maybe something misfired"
"Nothing misfired! It's not my Benefit, i trust her with my full chest, i can vouch for her Okay?" " Okay... There's no pointing working yourself over this. What you need is a day rest"
Amazing exhaled, "Hopefully something bad doesn't happen again" "We'll face it like we did this one, God with us is majority so they can bring it on whatever they want. I have the assurance that they can't touch our lives."
Amazing smiled. "Thank you for being here" "There's no where I'd rather be. I had the most tempting day ever! Guess what?" "What?" "Larry called" "Your Boss? What did he want?" "What else? He wanted me back, he promised to give me double my earnings"
"Oh.... What did you do?"
"It was tempting Amazing, I had to lose at what I had to lose...."
Amazing shrugged, "I'm not going to judge you, did you consult God before accepting it?" "I didn't accept it. I turned him down" he replied and she exhaled as though him being jobless was a good thing.
"Wait, why do I feel like you're more in love with the jobless part of me?" He asked and she laughed folding her hands across her chest, "That's not it. I just don't want you making a mistake you'll live regret"
"Efua stopped by too" Bamidele chipped searching her face for reactions, "What did she want?" "She...." He trailed off clearing his throat, "She came to seduce me into.... Into having sex but nothing happened. I told her i loved my relationship with you and God enough to ruin it with three hours of pleasure. I tried to introduce Christ to her but she left really hurt."
"Ehya"
"I'm still breaking hearts"
Amazing exhaled, "For a good purpose Bammy, it's for a good purpose" she smiled then she cupped her palm over her lips yawning loudly, "I'm sleepy already" she said yawning again.
"Are we still going to have our date with everything that's happening?"
Bamidele nodded, "Yes. Even if it rains brimstone, we'll have our date on Saturday. I don't have church engagements that evening and I'm sure you don't, slash it's enough time to get over all these things"
Amazing smiled, "Just be open to disappointments and unforeseen plans too." "There won't be such. Don't you trust God?" he said lifting her hands then he kissed her palm, "I do. What if they pave way to sin and something happens"
"Have faith. Good night Babe"
"Good night Bam Bam"
Benefit laid weakly in bed, the effect from the prayer was slightly affecting her. "Baby, where were you? I called, you didn't answer" "I couldn't, i wasn't feeling too well" "What happened to you? I know you're shaken by what happened to Adetutu but we're also having a baby and you should also think of him" he placed his hands on her belly.
"I think I'm coming up with Malaria or something"
"Should I take you to the hospital?"
"No"
"Okay, whatever you want my love" He sat on the bed then he kissed her forehead.
Mrs Ogundele placed a bed sheet over Fisayo's body then she walked out of the room, she took Fisayo back home with her just to be sure she was in saf hands, as though Benefit's hands were short to reach her there. "Do you need me to sleep here for the night?" and Fisayo shook her head.
The moment she left, Fisayo sobbed, she didn't know which was more heart breaking, getting mad, eating from the bin or or her break up with Bassey.
"God, " she sniffled looking up, "I know I'm not your favourite daughter, I don't take you seriously everytime, I only log in and out when I please. You know I have never been a good Christian and I don't know how. Can you just teach me how? Can you just help me? I don't want to go mad" she complained shaking her head, "I just don't want to, please.... Please help me" she blew her nose then she continued sobbing.
Yemisi sauntered into the bedroom after another painful urination. Her eyes met with Kwame then she continued arranging her bags hiding her pain underneath a poker face. "Efua is leaving for Ghana tomorrow"
"Why?"
"Bamidele turned her down, she's finally backing off. " "Just when she threatened Ema yesterday, ehya, Bamidele has served he better breakfast. I thought she was going to do all those jealous girlfriend drama to Amazing oh. Thank God she didn't cause sister in law or not, I would have slapped her silly"
Kwame exhaled, "She's hurt and I feel horrible about it. I've always warned her about Bamidele and now Murphy will be hurt too." "Ehn...." Yemisi shrugged, "Not like they have anything going on" she added now looking at Kwame who scratched his head in response to her reply.
"They think I don't know"
"Jesus Christ! No offense but your sister is a slut, she's having sex with Murphy and.... I won't doubt if it isn't the first time"
"It's not. I'm not proud of it too but..... What can I say? She's still my sister." He watched her zip the luggage close. "There's no point leaving, our wedding is next month"
"I'd rather see you alive than dead. It's not as if I'm cancelling the wedding, just like Fisayo and Ema, I'm doing what seems logical; saving your life"
"Amazing is not doing anything. She's still with Bamidele"
"You can't compare someone that has PHD and extra anointing in prayer with an O level student like me. The truth about this whole thing is that I can't afford to lose you and we're suppose to stay away from sex. Staying around you will mean i'll have to fight the urge everytime"
Kwame crawled up to her laughing, "Trust me I'm fighting the urge right now" he bit his lips then he pulled her close leaning against her breast. "Please stay," he whine like a baby, it was a new side of him. "We can pray every night together, wake up and pray every morning, at least I'll get to know you're fine" he held her tightly and she chuckled poking his nose.
"And you won't be tempted to eat from the cookie jar"
Kwame groaned regretfully and they both laughed, "Your temperature is high. Are you okay?"
"With everything happening? I'm standing by God's grace"
Kwame looked into her eyes, "I meant personally. I feel like you're hiding something from me" "There's nothing to hide, Kwame I don't want you getting anymore worried about me. I'm fine" she placed both palm on his cheeks and they both kissed and Kwame pulled back on remembering Bamidele's warning then he groaned again.
"I'm going to miss you"
Ema paced around the room, "God we need you more than ever, I know we've never needed you. Okay I have never needed you. What the fuck am I doing?" She asked rolling her eyes.
"I'm just being a fucking hypocrite. I've never regarded you and now I am because I'm in deep shit."
Amazing jumped on the bed then she glanced over at the bedside table next to her finding her phone flashing white. She disconnects it from the charger and then swipe to check her call log. She had 20 missed call from her parents, Specialgrace and Uche's mother.
She called her mother right away, "Did you throw away your phone? How many missed calls did you see?" "I'm sorry... I wasn't close to the phone. I hope all is well"
"All is not well, so if Fisayo's mother didn't call to inform me about her daughter, you wouldn't have done anything"
Amazing rolled her eyes, "Mommy I didn't have the time, besides she's fine now" " What really happened? She didn't give me the full gist" "Well Mom.... It's a long story and I'm tired. It has been a long day. I promise to tell you tomorrow"
"Each day I keep getting worried about you. I don't know why I keep having all these bad feeling ehn... Amazing, are you sure you're fine" "Mum I'm fine, just keep on putting me in your prayers"
She didn’t let Amazing get off the phone until she promise she will call her first thing tomorrow morning when she wakes up.
Amazing quickly ended the call then she gave Benefit a call but she couldn't pick up the call in her state. She called Jeff this time and he managed to answer the call. "Good evening Amazing" he greeted, sounding cold.
"Good evening Jeff, how are you?" "I'm fine" "And Adetutu?" "She's fine" "How's her health? Sorry we had to leave"
"I understand, how I Fisayo?"
"She's better. That's exactly what I've been calling Benefit to tell her but she hasn't been picking up. I'm worried, is she okay?" "Yes" "And Adetutu? Has she gotten better?" "She was discharged earlier on"
"Okay... I'll like to talk to Benefit and hear her speak"
"She's asleep at the moment. She needs all the rest she can get, she's going through a lot Amazing." "We all are! I just want to talk to her" “Okay.” He clears some of the gravel out of his throat with a cough and then he exhaled.
"Okay... Give the phone to her"
"What's so hard to understand there Amazing? My baby needs all the rest she can get." "But..." "Good night Amazing" he snapped hanging up and she scoffed.
"Okay.... That's... What's going on? This is strange" she paused remembering what Bamidele said, "It can't be. No way...."
Ema marched into the room, "I can't seem to pray alone" she complained and Amazing stretched her hands at her, "Come" she answered then she chuckled at the thought of her praying.
Ema climbed on frowning, "You're mocking me" "I'm not" Amazing laughed covering her lips, "I'm sorry" she apologized, "I feel like an hypocrite" "Hey dear, we've all had to feel that way at some point in time. Prayer is communication with God, don't worry, you'll get a hang of it very soon"
The following Morning
Benefit laid in bed still when Jeff walked in to inform her about Amazing being close to the house. "Should I let her in" "Yes" she answered knowing she had to feign to be in good health in order to feed Amazing's doubt.
Amazing drove over to Jeff's house, she parked her car outside and the security let her in. Jeff opened the door and led her to the kitchen where Benefit was frying chicken. "Amazing, good morning" she greeted with a warm smile.
Amazing exhaled in relief, if she was the perpetrator, why would she be looking fine? Didn't Pastor Tunde say they were going to hear a bad news about the person ?
She thanked God that it wasn't her!
"How are you doing? How's Fisayo? Sorry I couldn't call to ask I was busy. In between the whole crisis and all.... I just got in the thick of it"
"I was worried. Jeff said you left without informing him"
Benefit laughed, "I was contemplating suicide. Fisayo had run mad and Adetutu..... The good news is that I'm alive, I changed my mind. I'm fine, I'm just happy Fisayo is too. I called her, she said her mother took her home" she paused removing the first batch of fried Chicken.
"Come and have breakfast with us or you can eat the chicken alone if you can't wait" She pushed the plate containing four fried chicken drum stick"
Amazing smiled and swallowed hard, she picked it up, "This looks really good" then she dropped it, "I'm on fast, I'm sorry" she wiped her hands on a table cloth and Benefit gasped, "Oh my God. I'm sorry, I never knew"
"It's nothing. Where's Adetutu, can I just see her and pray for her?"
"Yeah sure. Jeff will show you to her, I can't leave the kitchen just yet"
"I understand" she replied walking out then she walked back in smiling, Thank God it wasn't her! she said within then she walked out. Benefit sat weakly on the stool.
Saturday
Amazing twirled in her black and Fisayo snapped her fingers, "Strut it baby! Strut it!" "Babe, you look hot in this gown, I'm just happy you're not wearing that Zebra gown" Ema expressed her sincere opinion, "Or that stupid Emerald gown" Fisayo agreed and Bamidele horned for the third time.
"I had to look good for my first date with the love of my life. Wish me luck guy!!!"
"Good luck Baby!"
At the table, Amazing raised the menu up then she cleared her throat, "Someone is forgetting he's broke" she whispered and he laughed throwing his head backwards, "Don't make me laugh, this is a fancy place"
"My point exactly. You could have taken me to a normal restaurant and I'll still be happy"
"Come on, it's a special day, you're worth this and more. I've done more for people that mean a thing to me, you deserve better than this" he smiled and she exhaled. The waiter approached and they made their orders- Bamidele wanted them to try out dessert first.
Then he returned back to staring at his dinner date who looked absolutely stunning in a black gown she had on. The waiter sauntered back to the table with one caramel pudding for dessert while another waitress dropped a bottle of wine on the table leaving.
“Will there be anything else?” The man asked, "I'll let you know if we need you" he answered, without ever averting his attention away from Amazing.
"Stop staring at me that way, I'm feeling uncomfortable"
"I'm sorry, I might keep apologizing tonight cause I won't stop staring. Part of me just keeps us asking if this is real, it seems surreal that Bamidele can end up with the most wonderful woman in the world, apologies to my mother"
Amazing's face instantly lit up, "It's real Bam bam" "How did I get so lucky?" He asked and she dived into eating her dessert, a look of pleased astonishment spreading across her face.
"Hm" she nods closing her eyes in pleasure from the sweet taste of the pudding. "This is really great"
Bamidele smiled, "How was your day Babe?" "It was stressful. We had to drive over to Abeokuta to see the family compound coupled with my fast. When we got there, the Bride's grandma literally became a pest, she said i reminded her of someone she used to know. She followed me everywhere i went, she kept me company. She made me their family historian Bam Bam, there's no history you'll ask that I don't know about her family" she joked and Bamidele laughed.
"You're exaggerating jhoor"
"I'll pass any course as long as it has to do with their history. Then she asked if i was married and i told her no of course and then she prayed for me. Let me not bore you with too much talk, for the first time in a long time, my day went as planned"
"I'm not bored Babe. Who's going to plan our own wedding?"
"Moi, myself and the whole team. Why are you asking?"
Bamidele shrugged, "Nothing" "Did you do anything interesting today? Let me hear your side of the gist" She asked and he smiled bringing out his phone from his pocket typing, "I did. I studied, went to church in the morning for clean up and then I went over to the store"
"What store? You went shopping? For what exactly?" She asked and her phone vibrated in her purse. She slipped her phone out looking at the caller ID
My Bam Bam 💓
She glanced at him, he had a phone against his ear, "You're the one calling" "I know. Answer it"
Amazing laughed, cleared her throat before placing the phone against her ear, "Hello Bam Bam" she said and he bit his lips looking down, "How are you?" "Mister man, What are you doing?" She asked and he looked up smiling, "Just answer the question"
"I'm confused" she answered in all sincerity and they both giggled, "What's going on? Why are we making a call when we're actually so close" "Check your message" he requested and she rolled her eyes.
"Is this some kind of treasure hunt?" She asked ending checking her message without ending the call.
Will you marry me?
Amazing lifted up her eyes back to Bamidele who was now raising the phone up then she placed the phone back against her ear, "It says will you marry me? I really don't understand" "What's there not to understand, I didn't write it in Yoruba"
"Don't flatter yourself, you don't understand Yoruba yourself" She snapped and they both laughed, "I've never seen a proposal where the guy is not down on one kneel down on one knee lifting up a ring, even Aboh knelt down" she compared looking away and he pushed his tongue out laughing, "I'm angry! She just compared me to Monkey coat" He ended the call, went down on one knees then he lifted the ring to her, "I think I should get closer" he moved closer to her making her bust into laughter dropping her phone on the table.
"Is this fine? I'll do anything you want. See, my proposal must me more Romantic than his own" he joked and she continued laughing. "You're silly" she answered biting her fingers, "Oya start selling yourself" "I'm not selling myself, I'm sold out already. I'm a fine guy and I know you're in love with me so..." He trailed off with a wink then he exhaled, "I saw this ring online yesterday and the first thing that came into my mind was me popping up the question so I had to go over myself to get it. If I didn't do it, I wouldn't have had rest, I couldn't sleep all through the night because of it"
Amazing chuckled staring at the people who were low key looking at them despite forming to mind their business. "Do you think it's the right time? Before they start getting angry"
"Is that fear I smell?"
"No. The ones that have not married have gone through seperation to save the lives of the men they love" "They can bring it on, i'm not scared Babe. So... Will you marry this jobless guy? Let's fulfil destiny and purpose together" He asked and she nodded, her eyes welling with tears of joy.
"You're not saying anything"
"Yes!" She answered stretching her fingers at her and a wave of relief swept over him. Not like he expected anything else but his nerves didn't let him be!
He slipped the ring into her finger, "The word of God says, he who finds a wife has found a good thing, I'm not perfect but I know God has blessed me wit a good thing so here I am inviting him to take charge. As this engagement ring goes into this finger, good thing will never depart from our home"
Amazing knelt down too, "Amen" "No man shall put asunder to this good thing" "Amen" "As they try, they'll scatter" "Amen! Amen" "This is sealed in the name of God the father, Son and Holyghost"
Bamidele hugged her and Ladies mummured "Awwwn" making Amazing blush. "Kiss the Bride!" A lady yelled and they both rose up, "We are saving the kiss for the wedding day" he answered and Amazing smiled.
After Bamidele parked his car just outside Amazing's house, he noticed she was lost in thought so his fingers intertwines with Amazing's finger to bring her out of it. "You must be in Akwa Ibom already" he teased and she chuckled.
"What are you thinking of?"
"The 10% chance that I have" "Babe, all we just have to do is add another Zero in front of it and let God work on it. We can afford to lose faith"
"I'm not losing faith Baby, I'm just regretting why I didn't listen to Pastor Tunde when he said that I shouldn't have the surgery, maybe God would have moved that mountain if I just had a faith like a mustard seed"
"Hey" He squeezed her finger softly, "There's no point crying over spilt milk, sometimes things happened so we can learn from it, if I didn't have Pastor Osagiede arrested, I probably wouldn't have gone to church or believe in the power of God, sometimes, he turns our mistakes into lessons. It doesn't truncate or reduces His supremacy or authority"
"One day, after Aboh broke the engagement and I ran into a vehicle. God spoke to me, I thought I was in heaven and he gave m a word to say to the people, something about Choke points. Pastor Tunde called me up afterwards, he said God spoke to him about a message he gave me but I've been stubborn. I'm just scared of turning into those Christians that will get married and wait.... Fine, God will always answer them but..... I'm just scared our situation might look like that. I can't even think of giving birth until three months time. We'll have to fix our wedding by that time"
"The same God made me deaf and blind and then made me regain my sight and earing can still heal you" "Amen. That reminds me, you said you were going to tell me how you got your sight back"
Bammy laughed, "Before you went AWOL on me!" "Tell me" "Where should I start from? Okay, it was the worst period of my life, I went over to Pastor Osagiede's house to return the money, he prayed but nothing happened then he returned home. On Sunday, I didn't go to church, I was angry. Nuel got back from church, he said the Pastor preached about faith, he demanded that I close my eyes and by the time I open up that I'll be healed......" He trailed off and Amazing felt goosepimples grow on her skin.
"I couldn't believe it, God came through for me" Tears ran down his cheeks and she wiped them off, "God is good" "Always" he replied kissing her palms.
Bamidele checked the time, 9:12 pm, "It's getting late" he said then Amazing heard her phone vibrate then she lifted it scrolling through her message, "Jesus!" She exclaimed handing the phone to Bamidele.
You'll be taking tomorrow's Sunday School session. Good night and See you in Church.
Bamidele laughed, "I'm sure you'll do good." "I'm not going to church tomorrow" "Come on, you said it right now, God gave you a word to say and you've been keeping it. It's no coincedence this message came I when It did"
Amazing groaned covering her face and Bamidele too a quick glanced at her ring as it shone, "Urgh!" "Are you just trying to make me see your ring, oya I've noticed it." He teased and she leaned against him. "I'm scared"
"Babe, you're still going"
"You do realize Sunday is tomorrow right?"
"Yes and I know my fiance is not a wimp and she'll kick the devils ass" "Oooh, i love the sound of that. I love you" "Love you too"
Amazing walked into the sitting room smiling at Ema and Fisayo who were watching a series on Netflix. "You guys did not lock the door" "We heard Bamidele's horn" Fisayo answered, "Someone is shinning. What happened?" She asked and Amazing lifted her fingers against her face.
Ema and Fisayo squeaked happily on seeing the ring then they both hugged her. "Awwwn. Call everyone" Ema requested and Fisayo rolled her eyes, "Is that wise? I'm not saying it's one of us oh, I'm just, I don't trust anything these days. They might be listening through call, even walls have ears so... I don't know, don't blame me guys I'm on the verge of trust issues and losing my mind. I already lost my mind once"
Amazing instantly puts a call through to Blessing, "Hello good evening Amazing" Blessing greeted laughing, "Jeremy respect yourself now, Amazing is here. What's up Amazing
"I have goodnews Blessing, wait let me make it a conference call" Amazing added Benefit, Nene and Yemisi.
"Guess what guys?" She asked, "You know the bitch responsible for our problems?" "No" Amazing answered, "Amazing is engage!!!" Fisayo announced and everyone screamed except Benefit.
"Halleluyah!" Blessing added, "Thank you Jesus"
"Is it just me or the network or everyone is happy except Benefit?" Nene asked, "I can't hear her jubilating or anything"
Benefit scoffed, "Of course I did, everyone rejoices in their own way. You can't actually see me Nene, don't make assumptions. Amazing, I'm happy for you. How does the ring look like? Snap and send"
"Yes oh, snap and send. May this be the last wedding proposal you'll say Yes to. Too bad he's now jobless too"
"Nene!" Everyone shouted and she scoffed, "What did I say there?" She asked and they all bursted into arguments like old times. "Is it my phone you guy want to use to argue?" She asked and Fisayo grabbed the phone.
"Enu e ti fe ju (Your mouth is too wide)" "Look at this one oh, i dont blame you, I blame those people that actually prayed for that made someone that should have being mad talk to a sane person like me"
"Nene!" Blessing exclaimed, "That's too much" "Are you sure you don't have brain paralysis cause o ti da mi loju pe o o lo polo walahi (It's now clear that you don't have sense). You dont have bad mouth more than me but Over these last few months we have grown mature but of course we know those that grew mature and those that only grew bitterleaf in the backyard of their heart."
"Who is bitter? Me? Please! That's just a mad person's rant. Amazing, you guys better check this one up oh, madness is not far from her"
"Madness will not be far from your....." She wanted to as 'your lineage and generation but she trailed off chewing on the words. "Nene you're stupid"
"Good night guys, you know where my room Is incase you want to give me back my phone" Amazing replied walking away. "Are you not going to do anything? Amazing?" Ema asked then she laughed.
"You're the most stupid"
"You're the most most world stupid" Fisayo snapped, "You guys should stop it now" Yemisi begged, "If she doesn't stop, I won't stop. CEO of stupidity"
"Madam stupid. Thank God it's not my airtime that's burning" Nene laughed wickedly, "The problem you guys have is that you just don't know how to deal with simple truth and joke. Good night" she chipped in looking at the mirror then she laughed knowing the only person missing out of their squabble was Uche.
"Uche oh!!! Better do and come back" she exhaled rubbing a cream on her face. Benefit was just not happy with Amazing's news, Blessing was happy but.... " she sucked her teeth. "I might have to pay Benefit a visit, my heart is telling me she's the one"
Somto walked into the bathroom, "You do realize you're talking to yourself bah?"
The following morning
Fisayo carried a basket on her head carrying all sorts of weeds, "Come an Buy what I'm selling oh, I'm not doing shakara, my price is negotiable!" "Sugar" she heard Bassey's voice then she gasped out of her dream sweating profusely like someone that had been running a long distance.
She stood up feeling pain on her leg, "Jesus!"
Bamidele took a quick glance at his WhatsApp status that morning
And she said Yes to God's will. Let the count down begin

SpecialGrace screamed happily she Amazing announced the news about the engagement on a video call. "Does Mom know?" "Yes She said I shouldn't announce it so that the witches in Dad's side won't work against me"
SpecialGrace laughed, "That woman and her drama. Awwwwn...Congratulations sis." "Thank you" "Is he a Pastor?" She asked and Amazing laughed remembering she asked the same question when she was with Aboh.
"They keep saying you'll get married to a Pastor. If he's not, I think it'll be better you do not have high hope cause I know Bamidele and I see his post on Facebook, the earrings, party and girls"
Amazing laughed, "Bamidele is a different person now. The potter is reforming him and transforming his life, you can call him a Pastor in the making. He doesn't like the idea of being a Pastor but the truth is in a very short time like this, he's already acting like it"
"This is good news"
A call from Aboh interrupted the video call but she ignored it. She didn't want anyone ruining her mood. Then a message popped up;
Did Bamidele propose to you? Is it true?
Amazing????
Amazing?? Don't leave me hanging
Amazing leaned against the podium on the altar smiling and flipping through the Bible, "My being here is a set up. Daddy I have to hand It over to you, you're good. If you know, you know" she began shortly after praying and everyone laughed.
"I was with a.... Uh.. A friend yesterday when he sent me the message"
Bamidele turned towards Yewande, "Wow, way to break a guy's heart. Now I'm the friend. Issokay" he complained looking away and Yewande laughed.
"He sent me the text yesterday about 8:50 thereabout" "9:12 pm" Bamidele corrected and she nodded, "Thank you. For those that are wondering how this brother got to know the time and to those that are beginning to say hmmmm, sister Amazing, we have caught you red handed. Yes, I was on a date with the brother when the message came in." She added and everyone laughed.
"I was this close to escaping when he encouraged me. Thank you Brother Bamidele"
"Not the brother Bamidele" He complained shaking his head.
"For some weird reason, he doesn't like being called Brother Bamidele. Pastor Tunde, Daddy, thank you for this opportunity, i count it a privilege and I do not take it for granted. We've been looking into our Joy, Faith and Trust series for three months now and God has been revealing new words and encouragement. Glory to God!"
Glory!
"So.... I just want to start by saying 5 months, four months ago before now, my relationship with God was shaky for some reason but now I can bodly say that I've come to that point where I can trust him with my full chest, i trust him with my goals and objectives knowing fully well whether it delays or not I'm not going to blame him, rather I'll sit still, pray till I get my answer because consistency in faith with God builds our relationship with Him. Trust is key in every relationship! When you look through the book of Hebrews, Oh my God, one of my favourite book. You'll notice the father of old scaled via by trusting God. Chapter 11 says by faith the elders obtained what?"
"Good report" the congregation chorused. "When you look at the journey of faith, it intertwines with Joy because the elders blindly followed God even when they weren't sure of what will happen, the weren't sure of the next meal they'll eat yet they followed with Joy. Abraham left the comfort of his father's house via instruction from God, see when you walk by Faith, putting complete trust in God, the end result is Joy." she noted and the congregation screamed in agreement.
"You don't know where the next money is coming but you just have that joy! You don't know what you're going to feed on or how you'll pay that fees, or how you're going to plan the wedding but you're singing praises around the house because your trust in God has given you all the joy you need!" She pointed out. By this time, a few member were standing already with their hand lifted.
"May the Lord fill our bowels with overflowing Joy!"
Amen!!!.
"Sometimes, what we're facing in life are just Choke points, write it down, they are natural congestion or blockages along two wider or important navigable passages. Should I repeat it?" She asked repeating the definition again.
"Every living organism experiences choke point at some point in time. It doesn't mean the world has ended or there's no God. Sometimes God let's us go through it so we can be processed from being raw materials to finished goods useful to God's kingdom and man"
Bamidele nodded.
"He makes us go through these mistakes so we can learn lessons, not just learn our lives can be lessons to the next neighbor, to the next generation!"
Yes Ma!
"So my counsel is stop making God useless, I was guilty of this too. Stop making him look like he has amnesia by always reminding him of his promises. You can command him by his word, not say it in ways that looks like you're insulting His ability to remember things. The God I serve doesn't have amnesia; i don't have to remind him of his promises cause I have the confidence he remembers and will bring it to pass in due time! He might be fours days late but he's always on time! Can I get a witness?"
"Yes Ma!!!" Ladies screamed, especially married couples and those looking forward to getting engage.
She exhaled flipping through the bible again, "Media, James 1: 2-3. Consider it..." She turned back at the screen, "Let me just use my bible" she glanced back at her bible, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kind, verse 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces what?"
"Perseverance"
"What are we producing?"
"Perseverance"
"What's the producer? The testing of faith. Should I remind you all of Job in the Bible? How the devil.... Oh my God! May trials not make us lose faith in God"
Amen!
"I love being interactive with my teaching so.... For the few minute I have, what relationship does Joy, Faith and trust have? What can you liken Joy to? It can be a story... It can be anything, I'll like to get anyone's opinion." She asked looking around, "Come on, someone should answer now. I'll point oh, Oya Brother Bamidele help us out" sh called out laughing to herself and he laughed rising up while an usher passed the microphone to him.
"Okay ..." He trailed off clearing his throat, "Let me start here. I've been kind of on a broke level, judging from where I was and where I am now. But you know what I realized? Guys, the fuel that drives you at this point in time it's not about how much you have in your bank account but how much joy you have stored up in the account. Let me explain, we tend to think money is everything, fine it's important, without It I possibly won't be able to pay Amazing's bride price, have my dream wedding and finally take her home with me" he paused and everyone broke into laughter, this became so clear to all those that had doubts that they were dating.
"In the secular world we say money is power, but the bible spoke about something called the joy of the Lord that gives what ?" He asked the entire congregation and they all chorused, "Strength"
"No matter how powerful money is, you can have money and still have ailment that even that money can't solve"
Yeah!!!!!
"But a person can be broke, even sick but still have the joy of the Lord which I define as a priceless gift, call it credit alert that comes from how much transaction a man has made with divinity in his journey of faith. The question now is what kind of credit alert do you want in your account right now? Joy or Money?" He asked handing the microphone to the usher then he sat down.
The congregation clapped, laughed and murmured answers.
"Joy"
"Money"
"The both of them kor?"
Amazing laughed from everyone's response, "Joy and Money account" Pastor Tunde yelled flipping through his Bible, "Daddy just said Joy and Money account. But you know an average Nigerian must have two or three different account. One main account, the other one he or she opened in school, If you're like me than stil uses her NYSC account too. This relationship is that between God and man, He is our Bridesgroom so we can just be like, God i want joy and money wrapped in one joint account, " She teased and everyone laughed.
"Thank you for that contribution Brother Bamidele. May God increase you in wisdom, may your source of inspiration never run dry"
Amen!
A lady raised up her hand and an usher handed her the microphone, "I'm about to go off point cause with Money someone will automatically have joy. They go pari pasul cause money is a great factor that determines a man's joy"
"So when the money goes, should the joy go too?. That's why we're speaking about this topic. You should never allow the devil steal your joy. I think John 16:33 or 15:33 I'm not sure, it says in this life you must pass through tribulation and trials but be ye of good cheers for I have...."
"Overcome the world"
"I think one version used joy, I cant remember, I think AMplified. Media help me" she begged looked up at the screen realizing she was right, "I was right amplified, let's read together from be confident and end with joy, I 2 go"
"Be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy!!!"
During the testimony time, Mary, the lady Bamidele preached to the other day came out smiling, when it got to her turn she started with;
🎶You do not lie, you do no fail, what is hard for you to do, it doesn't exist oh, it can never ever exist oh🎶
The whole church joined in.
"I want to thank God for a whole lot but for lack of time, I'm going to cut this short. For years I haven't been in church, since my father died, he was someone I admired, he loved God so much and when he died, I thought God was being unfair. Coupled with the fact that I was already 32 then without being married, I got angry and I left church. Not until two weeks ago when Pastor Bamidele stopped me on the way" he pointed towards Bamidele's direction.
"I know he's not a Pastor but permit me to call him one. God led him to me, but I almost drove him away out of frustration. He spoke to me, preached to me and I rededicated by life to God, o told him I wanted to come over to his church but he told me to go back to my church. I didn't know the reason but I went anyways. Church, you won't believe what happened, I couldn't believe it too." She paused now tearing up.
"At the end of the service, I met someone, an old family friend who claimed he has been searching for me. I haven't seen him in years. According to him, he has been popping in to check on me, he hasn't been in the country for six months but he felt a leading to come that day. I asked him why he wanted to see me and he told me he wanted to marry me. Pastor Bamidele, church, I couldn't believe it, i thought he was joking not until three nights ago when he proposed. How I went from being single, and used like trash to getting engaged, I still don't understand. I was like, is this God???? Now he wants me to see my parents. It still baffles me. I just want to thank God"
Bamidele bowed his head in tears, overwhelmed by the testimony. What if he hadn't listened?
"From the moment I walked in, from the Sunday school and all. I realize this is just where I want to be. I invited my friends to and i have come to publicly and officially take a stand with Hossanna Faith Ministry" she announced and everywhere rose up clapping their hands in celebration.
Benefit heard a knock on the door then walked up to the door opening it. She wasn't surprised to see Nene and her husband by the door. She already knew she was coming. Nene was seated on her wheel chair dressed in a blue gown and a black fancy sandals while Somto wore a blue polo and blue jean.
"Hey!" She feigned surprise, "Oh my God, you guys didn't tell me you were coming. " "Surprise!" Nene squeaked and she squeaked too opening the door wide and he wheeled her in. "You guys are welcome" She frowned shutting the door then she smiled back.
"How is Mummy?"
"I left her at home, I said I should come and see you, Jeff and Adetutu" Nene sighed and Benefit refrained from raising her nose! When a selfish person pretends to care!
She felt like striking her down that moment with some deadly disease! But she had to put on so much restraint. "It hasn't been easy" "Abi, especially with everything just happening at once. Where's Jeff?"
"With Adetutu"
"Can you take me to there? I just want to see her" "Should I serve you drinks?" "Yes" "No!" Somto and Nene replied respectively. "No!" Nene noted, "We already had enough, long throat!"
Somto scoffed, "What did I do now?" "We came here to see a sick child, you want to drink juice. It's that juice that will kill you. Benefit, let's go and see her leave this long throat that I married"
Benefit laughed nervously, "This way guys" she led the way and they both followed her.
Fisayo and Ema folded their legs staring at Pastor Tunde whose lips curled in a smile "I'm glad you guys decided to come today" "I had no choice.... We had no choice. I just want some kind of direction. I still see myself getting mad every night in my dream. I want to be liberated, I am tired" she cried out and Pastor Tunde passed an handkerchief to her.
Sir Jones held Bamidele by his hands, "When your mother dragged me down here because of your proposal, I thought it was highly unnecessary but I have to say that i don't regret leaving my church. I am proud of you Son"
Bamidele bowed his head, "Congratulations on the best decision you've ever made" "Ouch, you're right about that sha judging from the fact I also made a decision to be your son" he teased and Sir Jones punched him on the arm and he laughed.
"Have you spoken to her father?" "Yes Sir" "Good! Good! You should. Bamidele, i know you have pride but if you want any help with the wedding arrangements, don't hesitate to call me." He tapped him on the back while two mature women walked up to them, "Good afternoon Sir" The both greeted and Sir Jones nodded, walking up to his wife who was in the thick of a conversation with Amazing, Yewande and a Pastor.
"Asoebi and Honey moon loading my dear"
They all laughed, "Honey we have to go now, today is the inauguration of Reverend Tolu. We already missed the church service, we can't miss the reception"
Two women stared at Bamidele while thought flew in and out of his mind , He is in trouble??? Why will they be giving him threatening look. "So you're the new man in Amay's life shey?" The oldest asked, "Mummy yes now now. Shebi he publicised it during service. I heard he even proposed"
"Good afternoon Ma, good afternoon grandma"
"Don't call me grandma oh, you can only call me grandma after you've done the right thing"
Bamidele creased his brow in thought, "What is the right thing ma?" "Until you get married to that girl. Are you serious about her?" "Yes" "How many percent?" "100 percent" "How close Is the wedding?"
"Uh.... I don't mind it being today?"
"See, look at me and look at me well. If you do the same thing that man did that left her hanging, Wo, forget religion, on behalf of the women department, we'll find your address, don't even ask what we'll do cause twenty stroke of canes will not do"
The woman beside her laughed, "Mummy that's a threat oh" "Let him try it and see if it's just a threat" she walked away and the lady laughed, "Ignore my mom, she wasn't joking about the strokes of cane sha, on behalf of the women's wing, we'll soak it ata rodo (pepper) and then flog it on your bare buttocks like the hausas do" she added and he swallowed hard in fear and then the lady laughed.
"Just joking. You better take care of Sister Amazing" "Definitely Ma, I will" he answered watching the woman leave then he exhaled while Mary walked up to him. "Pastor Bamidele"
"I'm not a Pastor, don't scare me. I'm still processing the whole thing"
She laughed turning towards Amazing who was chatting away with Yewande and a Pastor. "She's very beautiful, she's lucky" "No, I'm the one who's lucky to have her. Congratulations on your forth coming wedding. Don't forget to send me an invite"
"I'll be leaving now. Can I have your number" she slipped her phone from her bag, "08036671234" "23...4, I'll give you a call Sir. Thank you for coming my way that day. Have a lovely day ahead" she said leaving then the Pastor dragged Yewande and Amazing by the hand, he was in the middle.
"Brother Bamidele, I was just talking about you to Sister Amazing and your elder sister. This woman is in your hands, you had better take care of her oh" "Yes Sir"
Suddenly he stared down at Amazing, "If he tries anything funny, let us know. We'll know how we'll call boys for him" he joked leaving and Bamidele laughed nervously. "Why is everyone threatening me today?" He asked and Amazing chuckled, "Pastor Mike is just joking"
"I've received other threats already. My life is literarily in danger, that granny said the whole women department will locate my address to discipline by bum bum"
"Bambam I'm sure they're joking"
"So now it's Bam Bam, i thought it was brother Bamidele" He asked biting his lower lips and Yewande left them alone, "Is that a challenge? I can take it on" She asked "Never! Never! I won't give you the satisfaction. You think I'll exchange Bam Bam for Brother Bamidele. You're joking" He answered then she giggled.
"I'm heading to the hospital to see Uche"
"Oh. I can't go yet. The evangelism team have a meeting, Pastor Tunde hooked me up with them. I'll call you when you get home" "Sure" she smiled leaving but he had uncertainties about her leaving his side.
"Babe" He called out and she turned her head to him. "Be careful" "Sure"
Nene stared at Adetutu who was quiet, "Hm! Adetutu, say something now. At least let your father know what to do. Ehya! Look at the wickedness they did to this innocent child. Has she spoken since the event?"
"No." Jeff answered, "The doctor said it's almost as though they exchanged her brains with a baby's brain. She can't even talk"
Nene scoffed turning towards Benefit, "Maybe she saw something she wasn't supposed to see" she snapped and Benefit requested a time alone with Nene and she watched the two men leave.
"Why are you looking at me Nene. Did I put this upon my own daughter?" "I didn't say anything. I'm just worried they decided to attack the child and not the father like they attacked Kwame and the rest"
"They didn't attack Bamidele too, Amazing haven't had any complain in weeks. What are you saying Nene? I don't know why you suspect me, what have I ever done to you? Was I the one that pushed you off the stairs? Did you see the person? Why am I the one you're pointing fingers at?" She cried then she sat on the bed holding her hand, "Can you just leave my house now? You've overstayed your welcome"
Nene wheeled herself out while Benefit held Adetutu by the hand, "She's becoming more inquisitive, she has to go!"
"Amen!!!" Mama Uche concluded as Amazing prayed over Uche. "Amen oh." "Mama, have you eaten?" "Yes. Izu brought one saltless food in the morning" she joked and they both laughed.
"The boy is trying sha... All of una dey try, you guys come in with food, snacks and cake, especially that Yemisi way wan kill me with cake. Except Benefit, na only she never visit"
"She's going through a lot"
"So is everybody but you all manage to come, ever since we found Uche, she has never visited me, not even one day!" "Maybe it's time"
"Whatever oh! I just didn't expect it from her, even Nene stopped by with her husband today, she said it entered into her head and she came except Benefit. I'm not angry oh, I'm just saying my church mind"
Back in the room, Fisayo knelt by the bed just after arriving from church and spoke to God as if he was a friend. "I believe you are listening to me, I don't want to underestimate you" She paused, closing her eyes. "And i know that you have my interest in mind, all of our interest. I'm begging you." She fought back sobs that were building up. "I know you are up there and you can hear me. I know I'm not worthy but I want to key into Amazing and Bamidele's life and say please change this situation for me, turn this around for me."
Ema knelt in the sitting room playing live video of a prayer, "Amen!!!" She screamed now whispering the prayer point.
Nene walked into Benefit's room suspiciously she was shocked to see candles, chalk, mortar, pestles and all sort of strange and fetish object in it. Benefit was grinding somethings in a tiny mortar.
She smirked on feeling her presence in the room, "Welcome Nene" "I knew it! I knew it behind that sweet face was"
"Was what?" Benefit asked turning her head at her and Nene shook her head, "How could you? Benefit what have we ever done to you to deserve such wickedness from you? What?"
"It's amazing how the one that haven't even suffered shit is always the one to run her stupid mouth. I'm tired of hearing you run that mouth like tap!"
"I was almost paralysed"
"Yes was! Now you can at least walk, I should have killed you long ago but I was just keeping you, at least let there be people they will suspect while I play victim all the time" she gave her innocent face then Nene moved backwards to the wall in fear.
"This is all a dream, all I just have to do is pinch myself" she pinched her arm but it failed to take her back to reality.
Benefit laughed, "Pinched? Fool! I led you here, only me can lead you out of here" "Why?" "Because you're biting more than you can chew." "I was only doing it for everyone's Benefit, what did we do to you? Look at what you did to Uche. Is this about the rape? Benefit!" She exclaimed then she scoffed, "You're such a pretender! Ah! All those years acting all, I dont care about being raped, you were harbouring hate deep within"
"Don't worry, it'll soon be over"
"What are you going to do to me? Come on, We didn't hold the man's dick against your vagina. We don't deserve all we're going through. " "Shhhh" Benefit placed a finger acrossed her own lips, "You haven't seen anything yet. You're going to beg for death and it won't come"
"You are very stupid Benefit! At least if I'm going to die, let me just tell you that you're stupid cause how long are you going to do this before you'll be caught? It's Holyghost fire that will burn you, it's the" she felt a web cover her lips preventing her from uttering a sentence.
"Perfect! Just the silence Ive always wanted. I want you to be alive while I do this to you.... Oh my God I've always envision this day" she held a doll to her face" "This doll is a miniature prototype of you, anything that happens to it, happens to it" She explained raising the leg of the doll, "This is going to hurt Nene" she muttered breaking the leg. Nene fell to the ground, her eyes widened in pain and horror but she couldn't scream out.
Damn! She needed to scream out but she just couldn't. "Oh my God! That felt so good!" Benefit moaned then she dropped the doll in the mortar, "I'll attend to the other leg later, first let me tell you a little story of an angry angel called Benefit" she knelt before Nene who was in tears, she could see the pain in her eyes.
