Mack

I could tell that Annabelle was all stressed about Gabriella after they called her up about the car, but I honestly didn't see why. Gabriella looked absolutely breathtaking with all her makeup, not to mention old enough to have a driver's license. Old enough to be driving friends around at 11:00 at night? That was questionable, but that's why Annabelle and I stayed back.

I continued to rant and rave about food, partly because I was hungry, and partly to keep Annabelle's mind off of Gabriella. But five minutes in, I realized she already wasn't focused on me in the first place. Annabelle kept looking over her shoulder at a table of some guys from school.

"What's going on, Annabelle?" I questioned her, pulling my chair closer like a concerned mother.

"What?" Annabelle turned to face me.

"Why do you keep looking back at Cam Brimer and his idiots?" I shook my head a bit while saying this. Cam and his boys were always looking for trouble.

"Who?" Annabelle said with a bit of laughter.

"Cam and his crew. You seriously don't know who that is?" I pointed to the kid with the brunette hair, contrasting with the rest of his blonde and the occasional black haired buddies.

"No...?" Annabelle twisted her face like it was a contortionist into some confused expression.

"Wow, do you live under a rock?" I laughed. Annabelle just crossed her arms and gave me a I-still-don't-know-what-you're-talking-about-but-now-I'm-annoyed look. "Cam's just the basketball star." I explained.

"Sports. That's why I don't recognize the name." Annabelle smirked. Then, her face got all suspicious. "Why are they out at 11:00 at night?" She looked over her shoulder at them.

"How should I know?"

"Why don't you go ask?"

"Fine then." I stood up and pushed in my chair. I was halfway over when I realized that Annabelle wasn't making any effort to come with me. "Why aren't you coming?" I put my hand on my hip and waited for her reaction.

"I said you go ask." Annabelle remarked.

"Well then, I will." I walked off over to Cam's table with a little more strength in my step. I stood behind Cam's chair and waited for him to acknowledge me. After about two minutes, he finally noticed.

"What, Mack?" Cam looked up at me with an exasperated face.

"What in the world are you doing out at 11:00 at night?" I crossed my arms, knowing this ought to be good. Cam just smirked at me in a way that made me a bit uncomfortable on the inside, but I ignored the sudden surge of doubt and held my stance.

"Right back at'cha." He gave me a coy smile and took the rounds of high-fives from his friends with pride.

"Oh, real original. Besides, I asked first." I retorted. His friends followed with round of "oohhhs".

"I won first." Cam gave me another one of his signature looks, knowing I was done for. Just that sentence stirred up a whirlwind of memories. They started spinning around in my head, making a blur of images.
