It was 10:05. I was standing in my garage with my father's keys in my hand. I'm only thirteen, and am going to drive a car. I didn't think it would be too hard, and I had even done it in parking lots with my dad multiple times before. He had called it "Being prepared for the future." My mom called it "Crazy." I prefer the term "Fun!"

My hands shook ever so slightly as I pulled open the driver's door to the giant SUV. I stepped up and reached my legs out, feeling the pedals beneath my feet. The ignition begged for my attention. Taking a deep breath, I put the key in the ignition and turned it. Gurgling sounds came from the car as the engine whirred to life, and set my world spinning.

I laid the keys in the cup holder, seeing them as no use any longer. They couldn't guide me through this. I pulled the gear shift down to the R, as my parents did when backing out. Checking the mirrors for cars I knew weren't there, I breathed in and laid my foot lightly on the gas pedal.

To my surprise, the car started moving backwards. I mean, I knew it was going to move backwards, I just didn't want it to. Now I was stuck with it. I turned the steering wheel ever so slightly to the right when I reached the end of the driveway, and the car obeyed. After several attempts, I got the car going straight on the road.

The drive wasn't so bad after I was going. I turned left with a bit of difficulty, but other than that it was easy. I slowed down when I was nearing Annabelle's house, and switched my foot from the gas to the brake. The car once again obeyed me and stopped in front of Annabelle's house. She stood on her driveway with a mix of shock, delight and horror on her face.

"You CANNOT drive this around all night!" Annabelle harsh-whispered at me.

"Yeah, I can. I made it here, didn't I?" I smirked at her. Annabelle stomped down the driveway and jerked open the car door.

"Yeah, a simple road. Whatever! Someone could catch us! What if they ask for your driver's license? What if-" I just looked at her and smiled. "Oh." She mumbled a bit astonished.

I had made myself up to look just like my older sister, and had taken her driver's license. I waved the card in front of her face. "What if nothing, because I'm a legal driver." I gave her a witty grin and tucked the card into my pocket.

"But that says you're eighteen," Annabelle quipped.

"Will you let it go? I put makeup on, I look just like her anyways, what more do you want?" I huffed.

"To walk instead!" She yelled right back at me. I held my hands up in innocence.

"Oh well." I shrugged and put the car in drive. Annabelle put her seatbelt on and held on to the assist handle for dear life.
