12| Naija Here I Come |

Khartoum, Sudan.
8:45 am.

Salim smiled widely and caressed his wife's cheeks and crouched down to his sons level. "My hero, don't forget to take care of your Ummi."

"I'll take very good care of her."The little boy replied with a toothy grin.

"I can't believe I won't be able to follow you."Salim smiled.

"It's okay Salim, I'll be just fine. And plus we're in the 21st century."Maryam paused to show him her phone. "You can call me anytime you feel like talking to me."

"Now I know where my son got his smartness from."Salim teased and they bursted out laughing.

"I'm going to miss you so so so much, and don't be surprise when you see me in Nigeria, I might not be able to survive alone without you and Aamir."Salim confessed and Maryam sighed taking her hands in his.

"I'm just going there for a few days, two week and I'll be back before you know it. It's almost time for our flight. Please take care of yourself."Maryam gave him a lopsided grin.

"Two weeks ?"Salim asked as if in shock. "That's like years."He joked.

Maryam rolled her eyes and held her luggage with her left hand and picked up Aamir.

"Safe flight, I love you."Salim bade her goodbye and placed a quick kiss on her lips.

"I love you more-est."Maryam replied chuckling at her own choice of words.

Salim shook his head as he watched Maryam and Aamir walked into the Airport.

It was just four years ago, the two of them met in this airport and now she's his world. He love her so much.

Nigeria.

Everything about Nigeria is different, the scent, the atmosphere, the environment and lastly the people. It's a very unique country meant for only unique people.

Maryam inhaled the air. All she knows is that she missed this place.

When they were planing their trip to Sudan, she had already made a plan of coming back to Nigeria. But then, a miracle happened. She found the love of her life there, her lifeline, her ride or die and her everything which made her fell in love with the place and never want to stay away from it.

And finally, after so many years she is back to her hometown. There are so many memories she would love to remember and some she won't even want to think about them. It brings back bad times.

Maryam is back to Nigeria to look for her father. The matter on her father was forgotten long ago. She and her mother have moved on already. Then one day, a message came up on her phone from an unknown number.

He/she told her that he knows where her father is and if she wants to meet with her father, she should meet the unknown number at a particular place in Abuja.

She didn't leave Sudan to come to Nigeria just to see the person who had left her some years ago. No, but she's coming back to avenge for what her mother had to go through because of him.

She still has no idea who sent the message, but she's trusting whoever sent it because all she wants right now is to find her father and talk to him.

She isn't only trusting who sent the message because of what the message reads but what she saw with her own eyes; a picture of her father coming out of his car and in different locations.

Her Dada.

Why wouldn't she be able to recognize him.

Maryam gripped Aamir tightly as they walked out of the Airport to get a cab. In the meantime, she'll stay at their old apartment. If they've sold out the house like her mother had insisted some years back then she wouldn't know where to stay.

And as a married woman, hotel isn't a good option for her.

Maryam hailed a cab and gladly he didn't charge her too much as even she didn't have the enough energy to argue with him about the fees. He even helped her load her luggage in the car.

I'm I really in Nigeria. Such a nice man.

"Yaron ki ne wan nan. Is he your son?"The taxi man who turned out to be a Hausa man asked, referring to Aamir who was just staring at the view through the window.

"Yes, he is my son."Maryam replied ruffling with Aamir's curly hair, he got it from his father.

"Such a cute boy."The man added and Maryam smiled and mumbled under her breath;

Tabarakhalla Ma Shaa Allah.

Upon reaching their destination, Maryam paid him his money, he thanked her and even took her luggage to the door step.

"Thank you."Maryam thanked him once again before slipping her hands into her purse to search for the house keys. It took her sometime before she found them.

"Ummi, is this our new house?"Aamir questioned when he stepped into the house.

Maryam shook her head at him. "No, but we're staying here for a few days."

"Is Abba also coming?"Aamir questioned again.

"I'm sure you must be tired, let me quickly clean up one of the room upstairs and you can rest there okay, in the meantime take your football and play outside also be careful."Maryam stated but he was already out of view.

The house was very dusty, she was afraid that she'll catch a cold when tidying it up. She changed into a navy blue sweatshirt with a trouser which stopped on her knee level, and lastly she wore her nose mask to prevent herself from inhaling too much dust.

Maryam started off by removing all the sheets which were used in covering their couch and putting them away. She got her cleaning utensils from the store room and started cleaning.

She was almost done with the living room and someone rang the doorbell.

That's weird, no one knows I'm here.

Nevertheless, she went and open the door only to see a not so familiar face staring back at her.

"Aunty good morning."

Maryam ignored the little girl's nice greetings and asked. "Who are you ? And how come you know that I'm here?"

"I'm nanna's daughter, and your mother had called her up and asked for her to send someone to help you out here."

Nanna.

The name surely rings a bell.

Yes, Nanna my nanny.

"Come in please, how is your mother?"Maryam ushered her in. The girls looks like 17 year old.

Maa had sent her here ? Thank you so much, I wouldn't have been able to clean this whole house without some help.

Mothers are always there for you.

Heyyyy it's another update !!!!

We've finally met Maryam erm erm after so many years.

Who do you think sent her the message about her father's whereabouts?

Do you thinks it's someone close to her or someone she knows ? Or a total stranger ?

And lastly what do you think of salim ?

Ria ❤️
